We had a nice anniversary dinner here. Service was excellent, atmosphere quite good, food was a touch disappointing. The crackling chicken was't as wonderful as last time. I think it was cooked sous vide and then the skin was crisped with a torch or broiler. Could have used a little more crackle! Also the suggestion to pair Fernet after dinner drink with dessert missed the mark. But it is still a fine restaurant, and we will likely return. read more

While traveling through Denver on Thanksgiving day and everything being closed, we didn't know what to do for dinner and picked the one place we could find last minute reservations - Plimoth. I studied the menu beforehand and wasn't really excited about any of the offerings but quickly changed my tune after the first appetizer. This is the best meal Ive had in my life. Often times, upscale places like this are not vegetarian friendly but this place had so many options! We started with the brussle sprouts and I know what you're thinking - "all sprouts are the same". No, these were hands down the crispiest and tastiest version of brussles I've ever had. We went on to order the carrot dish (delicious but not my favorite), the cauliflower gratin (to die for!), the pumpkin bisque, and sweet potato ravioli (they were kind enough to make it veggie friendly for us). Because it was Thankagiving, we also indulged in the root vegetable entre which blew us away! It was unexpected and incredibly balanced. To give you some context: I normally hate most of the ingredients that were used in the dishes. Cauliflower? Yuck! Pumpkin used in savory ways? No thanks. Root vegetables? EUGH. Beyond amazing! This neighborhood restaurant is so welcoming and charming. The service we received was impeccable. The cocktails are creative and elevated. I had the basil gimlet and it was so fresh and herbal. We shared the Irish Stew hand pie as a starter, it tasted like old world memories, not a drip of gravy was left on the plate. We had dinner the night of the Billy Joel concert on July 12th. We were greeted warmly when we entered. The waitress asked if we had plans and we let her know that we were going to the concert. She said that she would make sure that we were out in time. 5e wait staff and servers were attentive without making us feel rushed. Food was excellent and the waitress made sure we ordered the right amount for the four of us. The only thing that I would change is some way to baffle the volume as when the restaurant is packed the noise leve can make it hard to have a conversation. Definitely will return. read more

Love this cozy neighborhood gem. The menu is small, which allows them to focus on getting it right. They explain their food is "eclectic, yet approachable" and it truly delivers when it comes to flavor. We tried several small bites and drinks the night we visited. The crispy Brussel sprouts with a white bean hummus blew me away. The sprouts were not overly oily, and perfectly paired with the creaminess of the white beans. The hazelnut dukkah (Egyptian spice blend) is a trip to flavor town. My favorite of the night was the Cauliflower turnip gratinée. I was jealous that I had to share this ooze gooey dish with bouitque mushrooms. This dish is not for those still trying to keep their New Years resolution. This cheesy dish, served with crostini is comfort food at its best. The flavors of cream, the cheese, (maybe thyme) and earthiness of the boutique mushrooms are a must order for any occasion. We also had cold water mussels, saffron and white wine. Ask your server for a wine pairing on this one. We had a sauvignon blanc which brought out the saffron flavor in this dish. The food here was very, very delicious. The cracklin' chicken and pork terrine were both amazing. This place was hopping at 8pm on a Saturday night. We had to wait for our table for a bit and sat at the bar. The bartender got us water right away but never got our drink order, he was so slammed. They must have a separate service bar as our drinks came right away when we ordered at the table. Super yummy and fun neighborhood restaurant! This is my 2nd review of The Plimoth- my partner and I dropped in for wine and desert on a weekend night and the wonderful hostess was so sweet and accommodating by allowing us a seat at the bar without a reservation. We were so impressed with the bartender Melody and her knowledge of food and wine that we made a reservation for the following night to eat a full dinner. The following night, we were greeted by the bartender Claire and had great conversations with her as we worked our way through the late-summer themed menu. We started with the sweet corn chowdah, the Colorado musk melon salad, and a small skillet of the best damn cornbread I've ever eaten. For the entree we split the Alaskan halibut over golden paella. For desert we had a great manchego cheese plate with corn pudding, peach marmalade, and kettle corn. All in all, the food was fantastic! The atmosphere was exactly what we wanted- a slow paced multi course meal in a hip neighborhood restaurant. And the service and friendliness of the staff topped it off as the best dining experience on our week long vacation through Colorado. Such a lovely place to dine. I'm a big fan of well thought out placement of lights in general. It makes the place inviting or worse depressing. Whoever designed this place-kudos! Nice dining area right by the bar. Although there's a second area that seem to be the main one? That's where we sat. A wall with a high window divides the area. The food: Pork Oso Bucco. One big giant tender meat. The bone? I forgot about it. The meat literally just fell off the bone. Out of sight; out of mind. Bye bone! I ate and I ate and yet I still took some leftovers home! The very thoughtful staff. Ever present but unobtrusive. A very considerate gentleman who seem generally just making sure things are fine adjusted the temperature when he noticed I haven't taken off my coat since we sat down. And then again since more ladies came in and didn't take their coats off too. It's a lovely place. It's just the table by the window are drafty. I'm sure that's an easy fix! We were looking for an easy family hike around Denver, and the staff and back-of-house folks came out to talk to us and recommend hikes. Our last night in Denver and we wanted somewhere fantastic and special. We asked around, chatted with locals and they all agreed, The Plimoth was the place to go! We were able to easily get reservations. Fortunate for us, they have outdoor seating in private pods... each private pod 'tent' was equipped with a space heater making it quite comfortable. The drinks were absolutely fantastic. I can't rave enough about the bartenders and their mad skills! Excellent. Our waitress was such a dear-heart. Very kind, professional and attentive. She kept the evening rolling at a good pace. Food was out of this world. Everything we ordered was quite amazing. We shared a few appetizers and then had our own entrees... I can't even begin to tell you how thoroughly we enjoyed our meal! The Plimoth was absolutely the right choice and the perfect end to our vacation. Booked this place for a date night during the week. The reviews on Yelp looked promising and the menu seemed brief yet providing a good amount of diverse options. The ambience is nice and cozy. We were seated right away and the servers are very pleasant and friendly. Welcomed with two glasses of cava which was a delight. We asked for recommendations from the menu and the server was nice enough to walk us through every item. The cocktails were delicious and well made. Multiple options to select from with different spirit options. There is something for everyone on the cocktail menu. For food we went with : Country style pork rillette : interesting idea but delivery was under par. All the flavour was lost behind the mustard and was disappointing. Cauliflower turnip gratinée : well crafted and flavourful. Definitely give it a try however it just didn't come all together. Cracklin' chicken : well made and delicious. Nice paired with some greens. Definitely the pick of the meal Grouper : cooked a little bit on the dry side and we all know what that means when it comes to seafood. Finished the meal off with Dark chocolate, mint & espresso de crème, chantilly, chocolate espresso crumble which was absolutely delicious and mouth watering. A dessert very well done and crafted. Overall a good experience but for the price and brand, the food was underwhelming. The staff is amazing and kudos to them for making it a wonderful experience. What a bummer. I've always had great experiences here and brought an out of town friend here for dinner last night. Huge disappointment. They've upped their prices yet again, my entree was $45. I ordered the fish and the filet was delicious, buttery and cooked well, but accompanying it? A bunch of raw cabbage and some hazelnuts thrown around on top. The plate was kind of a mess, actually, and I was hungry afterwards because there wasn't much other than fish and cabbage on it. Appetizers were shishito peppers, which were cooked fine, but included raw corn cob kernals on it, which tasted a little pasty and weird. The pork belly was good, but not enough really to share, three tiny pieces of meat. Even the dessert wasn't that impressive. For $200, before tip, I likely will go elsewhere next time. There are too many good restaurants in Denver now and no one should settle for prices like this. I do want to give them credit for service. We have always had good service there and we did last night, too. read more

So many places have substandard service in the past many years which makes me appreciate being taken care of at this level even more. I've always been a supporter of this place because it is in my hood. Maybe it was an off night or bad menu but I was disappointed all around. I realize it's out of their control but if dogs are banned from the patio so should small kids. Have some self awareness parents. Must of been three tables with toddlers moving around. I probably wouldn't have noticed if my first drink wasn't a warm beer. Yes, the bad menu. The main courses consisted of veal, catfish, chicken leg and some sort of vegetarian fare. Our table ordered everything but the vegetarian. The Veal came out deep fried, cold and chewy. Not a fan of catfish because I can usually taste the puddle or polluted lake it came out of. I thought maybe this place could work some magic. Nope, tasted like City Park lake smells on a hot day. Don't go for any special events or anything that you need special arrangements for Shame because the food was good. Went for a surprise birthday dinner. The hostess was HORRIBLE. She had an attitude the entire time we were trying to make our reservation earlier in the day. Online, it stated they charged a $3 per person fee if we brought our own cake so we were trying to coordinate the cake with them. She wasn't having it and at first stated that they don't do outside cakes then begrudgingly agreed to arrange our cake. This part is verbatim, it still annoys me. When we actually got there she asked "Who's birthday are we celebrating" we told her it was a surprise dinner when we booked. We were very disappointed. The birthday girl responded "I guess it's mine." She was a complete jerk and asked "What, do you have to check?" What?? Who does that?? She didn't know we were celebrating her birthday that night. We came here about 4 years ago, and although I didn't remember what I ate or any real details, I always remembered loving it here and couldn't wait to come back. Date night was last Thursday night and we had a delicious meal. We both indulged with 3 courses each and shared a bottle of wine. Including tip it was over $200 for the night. We'd booked on open table and for a Thursday, probably didn't need to, it was moderately busy but not full. Everything we ate was great, and we shared so I got to try 6 things! The pork belly appetiser was beautifully tender. The ravioli was fresh and delicious. The rabbit entree was spicy and juicy, his lamb meatballs were also very tasty. For dessert they were out of his first choice but the date and banana cake was still good and I had the lemon curd dessert which had the perfect amount of tang. My brother chose The Plimoth for his birthday meal and we were not disappointed! To start, we were served complimentary sparkling rose to mark the occasion. From there, we ventured on to starters which were actually my favorite part of the meal. We didn't pass up the cauliflower turnip gratinee after reading so much about it, and from there, moved to a currywurst sausage... No matter if you think you love cauliflower or hate it, order this! I also would've loved to try the foie gras but alas, next time. For my main, I opted on the buttered monkfish (that super ugly fish - look it up!) which came with peas, bacon, and red cabbage. The texture of the monkfish was almost lobster like. It was so filling, with the peas around the fish surprisingly being my favorite part (I think it was the bacon). To finish, we ordered the pot a creme to share which was small yet decadent. We probably should've ordered two desserts though. All in all, there was not one thing I tried this evening that I regret! The menu changes all the time and is succinct enough where there's something for everyone, but you also know every dish is going to be stellar. Loved this place, casual and hip yet simply classy. Our good friends brought us here for dinner and we had the best evening catching up on old times and sharing an awesome meal. We started off with the Pork Rillette and salad. Foodie husband had the monkfish, I had the chicken, our friends could not pass up the pork chops. Fresh ingredients and a hearty, warm meal enjoyed by all. Passing forks to try each other's plates while laughing about memories of school is the best way to spend an evening in Denver. We went for a girls night and had an amazing experience from the service down to the dessert. I am going to slaughter these dishes I'm sure so try to decipher it lol. For apps we had the broccolini and I know, what? Broccoli for an app?? But it was so good. They pair it with this amazing rich sauce. We also had the potato gratin thing. It was so creamy and delectable. For entrees my friend had the duck which was perfectly cooked. I had the scallops and let me say I am so grateful I did. Turns out this will no longer be a menu item for them. Too bad because they were awesome. The ladies finished the evening with the lava cake thingy. One of the top 5 New American restaurants I've had the pleasure of visiting and I've been around a loooong time! What a delight it is to have a five star, truly creative meal without taking out a second mortgage. First things first. Remember OpenTable is your friend. My party of four was seated right on time. The word is out on these folks and they are busy. If you don't have the OpenTable App on your phone, shame on you! This is a tiny place. The atmosphere here is warm and inviting. However you can also expect tight seating and a fairly high noise level. If you are planning an intimate romantic dinner, you are in the wrong place. Our waitress for the evening was Katie and she was perfection the entire night. She was so good that I would likely call ahead to check her schedule before I made my next reservation. That's something I almost never do! While we perused the menu we were served a complimentary Aperitif which was a nice touch. Pricing here is a breath of fresh air. Entrees top out at $20 and appetizers around $10. That's exceptional for this level of cuisine. Specialty drinks are also about $10. SUGGESTION- The owners, with just a little extra effort, could post the drink menu on their web site. Speaking of drinks, my party all ordered something different and we agreed that they were well made and priced fairly. I enjoyed a Filthy Martini. I also quaffed a craft IPA in a very unusual glass. See my pic. My appetizer was the best squash soup I have EVER HAD! It was unbelievably rich and the flavors just exploded in my mouth. I'm still dreaming about it. My entrée was Braised boeuf 'a la bordelaise' with shaved cured foie gras, pommes purée aux celeriac, crispy onions and wilties. I also ordered Brussel sprouts with polenta. Both were over-the-top rich and delicious and stunning examples of New American cuisine at its very best. The lovely wife and I shared a decadent chocolate pot de crème for dessert. Sharing was the right move as we found that most of the dishes here are quite rich. We had reservations here six months ago, and they had to cancel for Covid. Finally got to go for Christmas, and it was a really great evening. It's obvious that they are a well-oiled machine, with their service, efficiency, how the food is displayed, etc. And everything we had was really tasty, though because the menu changes frequently, nothing is standing out to me as what we had as I look at it now. I do see the meatballs that we had as an appetizer, though, and I remember my husband truly loving those. My only hesitation in giving one more star is where we were located in the restaurant. The room that you enter in is really beautiful, and the room we were in was...not as beautiful. It was fine if you were facing the street, but the other seat across the table faced the kitchen, and while I don't normally mind that, this just felt somehow more "industrial"...just didn't feel quite as cozy as I had hoped. read more

The Plimoth has been on my list to try ever since I moved to CO a little over 2 years ago! I couldn't contain my excitement when my boyfriend told me he made reservations at this restaurant (which was quite difficult). So we came in for dinner this Thursday after reading stellar reviews on Yelp. The quaint restaurant successfully blends in with the rest of the homes in the neighborhood. It's a rather cozy restaurant with less than a dozen tables and a small open kitchen overlooking the dining area. We got there around 6:10 and it was already a packed house, which was a good sign. The friendly host welcomed us in and gave us options for seating. We decided to sit along the window seat so we could have the view of street (much to my boyfriend's delight, there was a Porche parked right in front). DECOR: Unassuming, inviting, warm and modern with touches of French country. The host's stand is an old radio! FOOD: it's small seasonal menu features dishes that best showcase the fresh ingredients with a rustic French twist. We shared the farmers green salad with mung beans, frisée, radishes and cheese. It's really super fresh and light! For entrées, we had spinach spaezel with golden beets and farmer's cheese (highly recommended by our waiter) and Cracklin chicken. The entrées were a bit heavier than what we're used to but still extremely tasty! The chicken was cooked to crispy perfection with tender meat that falls off the bone. Now the spinach spaezel definitely hit all the right notes with creamy cheese, crunchy greens--everything just melts beautiful in your mouth! SERVICE: Everyone from the host and our waiter was really attentive and helpful. That's the beauty of a small neighborhood restaurant! The only glitch was the long wait (~ 1 hour) for our entrées. Our waiter informed us that the kitchen received all orders at once so it's taking a bit longer than usual. The kitchen is rather small manned by 3 chefs. It must be challenging to keep up with the orders during peak dining hours. Also, we could really smell the smoke coming from the kitchen. Maybe it'd be helpful to open up the front door to air out the smoke. Our host brought us complimentary port for the long wait. I finally made it to The Plimoth. Most of us arrived early, so this allowed us an opportunity to sample the cocktails. There is no happy hour to be had here. And although I found the cocktail pricing to be perilously high, it was a very tasty drink. We started with the starter of Confit duck heart 'tapenade' (grilled Ciabatta, Castelvetrano olives, duck prosciutto, blood orange zest & parsley). This was just slightly more salty than I would have liked (not surprising, with olives and prosciutto), but it was deeply flavorful and satisfying. We followed this up with Cauliflower turnip gratinée (Pleasant Ridge Reserve mornay, Oyster mushrooms). I will admit that I was skeptical. Veggie gratin did not sound that special to me. I am so glad that I was wrong. This dish was served piping hot and was so richly delicious as to be hard to believe. For my main course, I went with the Boeuf à la Bourguignonne (root vegetable mélange, Crimini, bacon lardon, pain d'epices, Dijon). This was a good dish, but I was more disappointed in it than I was in anything else that I tried. The bread served on the side was a grilled "spice bread". I found this off-puttingly sweet, but the server said it was popular. My beef was tender and tasty, but had an overly large chunk of it that was just fat. The veg in the dish was good, with the pearl onions being my favorite. I also had a chance to taste the Toulouse sausage and smoked pork belly being enjoyed by one of my dining companions. I must say, both pieces of protein were outstanding in texture and flavor. The wine we had with the meal was quite nice. Service was very good. I shall return. read more

Visited the Plimoth on a Thursday at 9pm. Plenty of tables available. Parking was easy to find on the street. We started out with the asparagus soup and the spinach salad. The asparagus soup was ok, I was hoping for a stronger flavor in terms of onion. The spinach salad was simple but tasty. The leaves are huge and the salad is of a good portion to share between two. For the main dishes we went with the cracklin chicken and the bavetta steak. Both were amazing but we enjoyed the chicken more. Maybe I was hungry that day but thought the portions of the main dishes were more toward the smaller side. As for dessert we went with the the S'mores and it didn't disappoint. My only comment would be that the gelato it came with was a bit hard and need to be soften a bit. Overall a great place for dinner. We had given our nephew and his girlfriend the gift of a dinner out for Christmas. The challenge, other than our calendars, was finding a spot to meet as they live just east of Boulder and we live so far southeast in Aurora that we can practically touch Parker. After some research, we decided to try The Plimoth. We were very pleasantly surprised. What a gem! This is a fantastic "neighborhood" restaurant. Inside the decor is fresh, practical and pleasing. The hostess was pleasant and showed us to our table on the "far side" of the restaurant. When the rest of the party arrived, they were promptly shown to our table. Our waiter, Mitch, was quick to stop by with water and offer us drinks. We had some questions on the drinks and Mitch was definitely up to the task, answering all our questions and making recommendations. We had the Tequila Maximus, Smokahontas and Rob Roy to start. I preferred the Smokahontas, made with a nice mescal, over the others, but all were really good libations to start the evening. The menu is made daily, depending on what is available locally and fresh. Big plus! For appetizers, we had the Cauliflower Gratinee and Pork Belly. OMG! Both were delicious! My favorite, surprisingly, was the cauliflower dish. I highly recommend them both. For dinner, we went with the Vegetarian Chili which had a wonderful blend of delicious flavors; the Fluke - perfectly cooked on a bed of risotto with a side of collard greens (I would definitely order this again); and the chicken - I believe it was the Cracklin' Chicken. I did have a taste of the chicken and it was heavenly. All of the dishes exceeded my expectations. We accompanied them with a nice bottle of Merry Edwards Sauvignon Blanc. A quick note, the wine list has some awesome wines and some surprises. For example, they carry a white Nebbiolo. I had never heard of this. Our waiter let us try a sample. It did not disappoint. With such a wonderful dinner, we wanted to continue the culinary experience with desert. We chose the Date Cake and Gianduja Panna Cotta. While both were delicious, my only complaint was the Date Cake was slightly dry. All-in-all, a great place for dinner with great service, fantastic food, deliciously unusual drinks and a very interesting wine list. Great spot, love neighborhood type places. It has been a few years since I had been to the plimoth. The last time I went, it was the year they were #4 on the 5280 Best Restaurant list and difficult to get a reservation. I was pleasantly surprised to see the dining room a little larger than it was when I went last, and also the ease of which to dine in here was increased. We had the lamb sausage to share - if you like lamb sausage this is your jam. It comes with mustard and pickled veggies. I love charcuterie plates and even though this wasn't charcuterie, I loved the way it was plated with everything. I had the Duck Leg Confit - a classic dish that was well executed. Even though it's a labor intensive dish, it feels and tastes like a homemade kind of dish. It's the kind of meal I want to eat on a cold wintry day. Overall just solid, bistro fare. I don't know if there is anything that will blow you away completely, but I don't think it's disappointing either. I want from a neighborhood bistro a thoughtful, but approachable menu and that's what I felt like I got. If you haven't been, check it out. This place has been on my list for a long time and I finally found an opportunity to try it out. The space itself was exactly what I envisioned it to be - quaint, loud, with exposed brick and that prohibition feel. That in itself makes you just want to hang out even if you didn't want anything to eat. But how you could not? The menu is full of exciting dishes! Of course, the website only provides a sample menu so I don't know exactly what I had. I do know that the chicken stuck out to me and he highly recommended it so I went with it. It's best to go with your first gut feeling, IMHO. The only gripe I had was that it did take a bit long for the dish to come out but we weren't in a hurry so I could overlook that. As for the dish itself, it met all expectations from juiciness to taste to seasoning. The sides also complemented it really well. I found the service to be excellent and the staff, as a whole, just fun and friendly and inviting. The combination of the food, people, and atmosphere makes this a place you should absolutely check out. read more

We ordered the gnocchi, the halibut dish, the cornbread, and the vegetarian dish, and everything was pretty good my favorite thing though was the cornbread. I wish I could just order 10 of those damn cornbread's they're so good!!! I also did love the atmosphere and five even amid Covid. The staff was all super helpful and attentive. I also ordered a few drinks and my favorite was the Gin Drink (can't remember what it's called) but it was SO good! read more
