Floor was dirty, shrimp app was very fishy tasting and smelled. This was our 3rd time at this location and we will not be back.

Service was Great! Food was Great! Decorated Great! But we won't be back unless they turn the music down. Way too loud, my wife and I couldn't talk because the background noise was making it impossible to hear each other. We even had trouble hearing the wait people. Everything else about this place was fantastic! We had the table made guac, A+, and split the Kale salad with chicken also an A+. No happy hour...yet, hint, hint. We will return if they ever turn the music down (or off). read more

The service was awful. Margarita was good but not worth $17. They have a whole hog special for bruny pork belly and carnitas tacos all you can eat that was the best value but the pork belly was so dried out. Could dress the tacos with what you want which was nice. My wife got the skirt steak plate and it was good. Over all the food is decent. Not worth the price. Service doesn't match the ambiance or price. read more

The atmosphere was pretty cool. We were seated in front area with a view of the sidewalk. Great for people watching. The only drawbacks were that the music was really loud and the AC was a little too chilly. I had the Mahi Mahi tacos. I usually don't do fish tacos, but I decided to give them a try. They were really tasty. The toppings were perfect giving it enough tang to offset the crispy breading. My husband had the Braised Shortribs tacos which he said was really good. One thing to keep in mind is that the sides are plentiful and shareable. We each had a side (I had the Brussel sprouts which I took home and my husband had fries). Neither of us could finish these. Next time we go, we'll split a side. read more

Came for a late Sunday brunch with a reservation for a party of 5. It was busy when we arrived and we waited about 10 minutes past our reservation time to be seated -- no big deal. The décor and atmosphere are really nice, but the music was way too loud, making it hard to hold conversations across a larger table. The food was decent and the family enjoyed it, but it feels overpriced. The tableside guacamole, for example, was delicious but a small portion for the cost. Staff was friendly, though not very attentive. Overall, the restaurant seems to lean more on its trendy appeal than on delivering the food and service needed to justify the price. I don't mind paying a premium when the quality and service warrants it -- but it didn't quite get there. They're relatively new, so I'll give them a pass on that. Even so, we likely won't be returning anytime soon.. read more

Tonight coulda gone so many different ways. Dress coded by management. Handled poorly, felt highly unwelcoming and crossed the border of discriminatory by management. Be better please. read more

We had reservations, but decided to show up earlier as our reservation was made for early evening & the restaurant was not as busy as it gets later in the evenings. Although there were plenty of open tables, the girls at the hostess stand, talk amongst each other and watched us stand awkwardly since this place has zero standing room (terrible design on their part) and after about 35m asked if we wanted to sit at the bar until they could seat us. Keep in mind, there are still plenty of tables open. That was bewildering to us. We decided to take a seat at the bar, ordered apps, drinks and finally food since it was taking entirely too long for our table . We ordered the guacamole. Which no one told us would not be made in front of us because we were sitting at the bar the pre-made Guacamole was mediocre at best. Our food came out cold and an hour and a half later one of the hostess girls sees us paying for our bill, walks over & asks if we're ready to sit at our table. lol just wow. The customer service experience was quite terrible. (aside from our bartender he was attentive, and our experience was not his fault) On top of this I ended up getting food poisoning. To say the least we will not be going back to this restaurant. There are plenty of other good restaurants in the near area that offer consistently wonderful customer service, good food and not selling food poisoning to their customers. There is no reason the mission needs to stay here. I think it's a matter of time before they get or have to shut down and someone new & better comes in. Until then we will stick with one of our favorite restaurants in the area (Buck Rider) as the mission does not even measure close. read more

We've been to the Scottsdale location before and had an amazing experience, which is why we were excited to try the Gilbert location since it's much closer to us. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to our expectations. The food wasn't nearly as good as what we had in Scottsdale, and the drinks were even more disappointing. For the price, we expected a much better overall experience. There are plenty of higher-quality restaurants in the area, so we likely won't be returning. Hopefully they improve over time. read more

Excellent fish tacos, but too expensive $25 for three very small fish tacos. I give more stars if the price was reasonable...they are only worth 14 with the small size! read more

Im going to be honest these bad reviews made me and my husband laugh. One even said it's not authentic Mexican food because authentic Mexican food isn't upscale. Wild take. My husband, son and I try new restaurants every weekend with my in laws. My father in law always asks my 14yo son what his rating is and we've never heard him rate 10/10 until going here. The rest of us agreed. We're big foodies so trust we don't take these ratings lightly! The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous, music was fitting for the vibe (and not too loud-coming from someone who gets over stimulated easily), the service was amazing (even for Saturday brunch), and the food (which they craft all in house including the chips & salsa) was so flavorful. We had Bren (I think was his name) as our server and he was such a sweetheart and totally went above and beyond and made the whole experience that much better. Will def be back! Please give this place a chance, I want it to stick around! read more

Absolutely amazing from the cocktails @ the bar to our dinner. Our waitress Jenna was absolutely the best!! Highly recommend her. Very professional, attentive and very friendly. Jenna recommended the best starters and on-trays for a fabulous girls night!! Definitely going back and asking Jenna . Food and service were great! Tableside guacamole is delicious, and the Pork Shoulder Tacos are perfect for sharing among 2-3 guests.

absolutely dreamy, went tonight and the drinks and food were amazing!!! the management team was super helpful and accommodating for my allergy. if you go you have to get the GUAC!!!! read more

Had an amazing experience. Avana made our evening one of the best we have had in a very long time! Will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend! read more

The menu is smaller than I anticipated but the food was good. Maybe a bit overpriced for what it is. The service was great, our server was very helpful with making recommendations. She was attentive and everything came out quickly. The music was a little loud which made it hard to carry a conversation. Overall, we enjoyed this place but we're not itching to come back. read more

Food was good, Chorizo Porchetta was amazing, order with flour tortillas(pricy for what you get). Drinks are overpriced, margaritas were $19 and small. $11 red wine was also ordered and when bill came was charged $18 per glass. When asked the server he said we were out of the $11 so we brought you the next one. Never asked us if that was okay. When we got the bill and asked him he said "sorry, if you NEED me too I can change the price ". Found this to be pretty rude and our seat for 4 was by door and squeezed in, had to move the table to get to the seat. Not a place I feel I need to go back to, plenty of other places with better service and pricing. read more

My husband and I had such a great experience at The Mission thanks to our server, Zach! He was friendly, attentive, and gave us some amazing recs. We tried the swordfish and the duck carnitas empanadas that he suggested, and both were absolutely delicious. Between the cool atmosphere, good vibes, and great service, it's definitely a place we'll be visiting again! read more

Eva was the best server ever! This was our first time at The Mission in Gilbert and had no idea what to order. She listened to what we were looking for, and made a couple menu suggestions we wouldn't have chosen ourselves and they were delicious! The swordfish with paella dish is to die for! Eva literally made our evening with her cheerful interactions, and all the staff - from the hostesses, to the guac guy Aidan, to the manager who came to our table to check in. Wonderful service by all. We will be back! read more

Disappointed in our first visit to The Mission. Service was very slow. Was 30 minutes between getting our salad and our entrée. Food was okay but small portions. Room was cold and loud. read more

Casual unique ambiance. Service was great. Our waiter, Sean, was fantastic. Came in clutch with the best recommendations. The food was incredible. We shared the crispy pork appetizer- the flavor was delicious. I had the salmon- it was flavorful without being rich. Husband had the flat iron steak. He loved it. We agreed it was the best meal we have had in quite awhile. Finished it off with the pumpkin bread pudding- yum! We definitely will be back. Hopefully we will get the same server- service was top notch and he was passionate about the menu and providing a great experience. read more

The food was good, the drinks were amazingly delicious and the service was very pleasant. We didn't have reservations and they accommodated us yesterday on Valentine's Day. Happy to have tried it for out first time and plan on going back. read more

We came here the first day they opened, and have been back three more times with our friends. This place is fantastic!! Service was great, especially at the bar. Everyone of the bartenders from Chris to Brandan to Joe are all really cool? Now I'll start with the drinks, which are fantastic. We really liked the caracara, the Prima Rita, the cucumber jalapeño, and off the menu the carajillo. Definitely go with the tableside guacamole, which is fantastic. Aiden is a pro at it. We tried the duck Carnitas empanada, grilled street corn, wild sea of Cortez shrimp AntiCuchos the beef antiCucho's all had great flavor. when we came back we tried the posole and the Almeja Al vapor. The Almeja is a Peruvian stew, unique and flavorful and we liked it. The posole on the other hand is not a traditional Mexican posole. The chili is a little thicker, more smoky, and its that uniqueness that made it really good! As for their tacos we tried the braised short rib, but if you're really hungry, grab the roasted pork shoulder they're Fantastic. One thing you cannot skip out on is dessert. they have a pumpkin bread pudding that's amazing, a chocolate flourless cake, and churros with a milkshake. We love them all. read more

Ish. Should have made consideration for a patio, an open-concept bar, Gilbert affordability, portion expectation versus price, a competing happy-hour, the danger of cactus succulents in kids reach, cramped seating, and a waiting area other than outside in AZ temps. Ish. read more

Jenna was the best!! She recommended me a gin drink that I loved!! Service was phenomenal and food was great!!

This was my second time trying the mission, the first time was at the Scottsdale location I was super impressed with that location and decided to give it another shot with this location being closer. However, it did not live up to the same standards as the Scottsdale location. To start, we had to wait a long time to be seated. Next, the waiter smelt like body odor and the food took an hour to come out. Then when the food came out it wasn't hot and honestly tasted very bland compared to the other location. The best thing was the pumpkin pudding dessert. read more

Service taking entirely too long. They didn't have queso so that takes 2 stars off. Could've been a lot better. Half the entrees aren't Mexican food. Authentic Mexican food isn't up scale Mexican food. Our party of 6 won't come back. Music was too loud. The desert was the only thing that saves the rating. read more

Had a great Valentine's Monday dinner with my wife at the new The Mission in Gilbert. Our server Jenna C walked us through the menu and every recommendation from appetizers to main dishes, drinks to desserts were amazing. We are so excited to try more of this menu and come back for new favorites. Also get the white bean spread side as an appetizer with chips and salsa, it's so good! read more

What a fantastic experience I rate this place 10/10 food, atmosphere and drinks were out of this world. Mason and George were amazing to my husband and I. They made us feel right at home and explained the menu and even gave us some suggestions. We can't wait to come back and they also mention how great Brunch is too. Thank you for such a great service tonight!! read more

The Missions shrimp tacos are a must-try! The shrimp were perfectly cooked and seasoned, nestled in warm tortillas with fresh toppings. The combination of flavors was amazing - a little spicy, a little sweet, and a whole lot of delicious. The service was fast and friendly, and the atmosphere was chill. If you're craving tasty shrimp tacos, Mission Mexican Grill is the place to go. You won't be disappointed! read more

We came as a group of 4 on a Sunday dinner reservation. We sat down and ordered drinks but it took over 20 minutes to get one beer and one glass of wine. We ordered guacamole for the table- that was fun although there was nothing exciting about the side. We ordered the duck fried rice & it was definitely underwhelming. It doesn't help that it was served to our table and our server took almost 25 minutes to bring us silverware. We asked for drink refills, including water, and it took almost 30 to get service again. Overall, the tacos seemed to be well liked. I had ordered the salmon and I had not understood how overpowering the vinegar flavor would be. The salmon was incredibly dry and at parts we joked it had turned jerky. Celebrating a birthday, they offered a free desert. It took almost 30 minutes for the desert after the table was cleared. It would be one star if the hostess team wasn't so sweet and greeted us so well. We had hesitancies coming here after just reading there were inspections on the food that didn't pass this weekend, but it was sure disappointing both in service and food quality. Especially unfortunate since our meal was almost $300. Literally shocking that is what they would charge and give so little. read more
