So loved The Macintosh! The chef here serves up incredible food and so flavorful at that. We started with the brussel sprouts and the serving size alone was enough to fill us up. Everything about them was to die for. I got a chicken sandwich and the breading was light, crispy and delicious. One of the best chicken sandwiches I've had in a while. The staff are great and engage with good conversation. Fantastic vibes and great seating!
The Macintosh never disappoints! We had a farewell lunch for a colleague today and everything was as expected....wonderful! It was 9 of us and we were immediately seated upon arrival, as we had a reservation. Our server was great and the managers who were helping out too. My sandwich was delicious and I'm glad they made my request for a grilled/rotisserie chicken breast happen. They brought out a special dessert for the honoree too. It's a great spot, in a perfect location and nice vibe.
The good: Shoestring Fries are hot & crisp with a housemade buttermilk pesto that's a fun take on traditional ranch dressing. A giant dollop of delicately sweetened fresh whip cream balances tart Key Lime Pie with a proper graham cracker crust. The odd: The concept focuses on Southern specialities (choice selection of bourbons, bartender recommends Blackened Redfish), but my Ahi Tuna Poke was out of place and overwhelmed with aioli. I'm looking forward to another chance, maybe for Happy Hour (snacks at reduced prices!), brunch, or at their sister restaurant - Lom Wong.
This is a great spot come for lunch, the food is very filling and my favorite was the mac and cheese, it's in the shareables but you can definitely get it as a meal. Our waitress was extremely kind and was continuously checking on us which was great. We also sat outside and it is very shaded and a great ambiance.
Excellent experience here a few weeks ago! Ambiance is casual but still intimate. Service was very good. I reviewed the menu before coming in and stuck with what I originally wanted: the Brussels sprouts to start and the chicken Waldorf salad as my entree. Wow! The Brussels sprouts were so good -- balsamic glaze, bacon and garlic all came together for an addicting appetizer. I probably could have eaten another portion by myself. For my entree, the salad was absolutely delicious and everything I love in a salad: fresh arugula tossed in a perfect amount of dressing and cheese with dried cranberry, red onion, radish and their rotisserie chicken. It was so exceptional that I came back soon after for a pick up order of the same salad while I was passing by. Everything here is fresh and very well done! Happy hour is a great opportunity as well. This place also offers daily specials -- definitely check it out when you are able to!
Stopped on our way to see a show at the Madison center. Let the waitress know that we are on a schedule. Atmosphere was nice and the place seemed well organized. We were there early so it wasn't crowded, but by the time we left it was. Food was excellent and the drinks were okay. My wife had the negroni and was very happy, I had an old fashioned and it was just average. My biggest issue is that the waitress was MIA more than she should have been knowing that we were on a schedule. She ended up recommending the key lime pie which was good, but by the time we got it we had to gulp and run. Sadly this took away from the whole experience and this might have been a five-star had that not happen.
This was near our hotel and decided to stop in since our 1st pick of restaurant had a long wait list and we were starving. As we entered it wasn't too busy and we were greeted right away and sat at a high top for 4. The staff was friendly. Opted for the Brussels sprouts and biscuits to share. I selected the chicken and daughter picked a soup. The star of this meal was the Brussels sprouts hands down. They were perfect. My chicken was okay and came in several pieces which left me full quicker than expected. Liked the vibe and openness. Would come back for drinks and brussel sprouts.
Don't know why I haven't reviewed sooner. I come here at least once a month. One of my favorite places. Service is always on point. Food is incredible. Lunch today.. awesome green iced tea. Husband had the Cajun fish sandwich. I had the orzo smoked salmon salad. Honestly my favorite. I need to do Happy Hour. The Collins Brothers Restaurants are always the best.
The cocktails at The Macintosh were absolutely on point. Their margarita was delicious and refreshing, and the New York Sour was super unique -- hands down one of the best I've had. If you're coming here for drinks, it's a solid 5-star experience. I came in with a plan, but got tempted by the BBQ platter special -- and I love trying a variety of things. The plate included pulled pork, smoked pork sausage, and pork ribs. I swear the server mentioned brisket was part of it, but it ended up being all pork. Still good, but a little disappointing. For sides, I went with the biscuit and honey butter (amazing), bacon mac and cheese (added the bacon -- no regrets), and coleslaw. I also ordered a Caesar salad without realizing the platter already came with slaw. That said, the Caesar was actually fantastic -- pro tip: get the large and share it to make it worth the price. This review is a little tricky because I loved all the sides but was just okay on the mains. The bacon mac was creamy and rich, the biscuit with honey butter was insanely good, and the coleslaw was next-level. The meats weren't bad -- they just didn't wow me. And with all three options being pork, it felt a little repetitive. I wish I had asked if I could sub in chicken or brisket instead of sausage. Still giving this 4 stars -- mainly because I didn't clarify the order and the service and cocktails were great. Just ask a few questions and order smart -- the place has a lot of potential to be excellent.
Loved this place when it was previously Grassroots, the name has changed to Macintosh, but the food is still the strong staple it use to be. Reservations were a must on Saturday night and the joint was hopping. We were seated and a server explained the specials. We ordered the Halibut fish and chips, twisted noodle salad with steak, cowboy baby back ribs, onion rings and an order of dirty rice. The staff were on point with service and piping hot plates. The halibut was moist, lightly battered and tasty. The dirty orzo was as flavorful as ever and had a great flavor profile. Our twisted noodle salad was unique, great combinations not found in a normal salad and the steak was tender. It could of used a bit more dressing. Our ribs were lightly sauced, fall off the bone tender and a light bit of smoke. The rings were good with a crunch, but not over battered. If you are hankering for a good, solid meal without the pretentious environment, give Macintosh a call. The aura here is upbeat with good food. The portions are a bit light for the price, but it is always a solid for dinner. Good job Macintosh and we will be back.

Chill atmosphere. We tried a few cocktails, the short rib, Mac and cheese, and the salmon. The short rib was served with jalapeno grits that were seasoned and full of flavor. The short rib was also tender. I would probably skip the mac n cheese next time. read more

A group of friends and I stopped in after an event and we were not disappointed! We ordered the brussel sprouts and burrata to start. Both dishes were a good size to share and had really good flavor! Our amazing waitress Zoe, brought us extra bread because of the size of our group! We also got the Waldorf salad and noodle salad to share. Both salad were night but still packed with flavor. We finished off the meal with two deserts that were soooo good! We were so fortunate to have Zoe as our waitress. She was incredibly friendly and made sure everything we needed was there. She was really enjoyable to talk to! read more

BEST DINNER I EVER HAD! My husband and I did date night here and it was on point. Food was unbelievable, the service was astounding, and the atmosphere was just right. It's hard to go out and spend money at restaurants these days because customer service can be so lack luster. Thank you for changing that narrative. read more

Ordered cowboy burger medium rare. Came out rare, cold, and a pile of cold shredded cheese next to the burger with 2 tiny slices of onion. Onion rings were a little warm - not hot. The pie was dinky. Hostess was nice, but didn't appreciate no tip for just entering my order and made it obvious. read more

I am in town for an assignment and I was dining by myself. I ordered what seemed like a simple request: cold smoked salmon and salad combo. Issue wasn't that they gave the grill salmon, issue is that addressing the issue became unnecessarily awkward and unpleasant. The actual interior has a really neat decor and interesting artwork and books all around. The food items sounded fine and seem like they have potential. But the item I ordered was pretty mid and seems overpriced. And yes, they are using Toast for their payment and the tip seems to be calculated with tax (another reviewed complained about this). In fact, their tip suggestions start at 20% which is a red flag. Back to the original issue: the wrong fish... that's an honest mistake, but even the grilled salmon I got seemed rushed (big chunk was maybe stuck on the grill) and they tried to hide it with the salad. Since that wasn't the fish I ordered I asked if the server recalled my order and then she corrected it... however, what was brought out was also rushed... the smoked salmon piece appeared to have been cut with a spoon (or plucked by hand?)... which is unpleasant to see and the whole thing just made me want to leave... This is a shame because whomever smoked it knew what they were doing, but whomever was portioning it didn't seem to have knife or something to cut it with.... ... for the number of positive yelp reviews, this was a real miss... read more

Zoe was AMAZING! After an event, the gals decided to check out The Macintosh. We were warmly welcomed & seated immediately without a reservation. Our waitress Zoe was so kind and friendly to our party. The burrata toast was a show stopper. Absolutely loved the spicy tomato jam & arugula on top of the focaccia. The twisted noodle salad was a great shareable for us, and we added steak. Make sure you grab an old fashioned, and please do not skip dessert. The bread pudding was warm & delicious! First of all Shoutout to Zoe!!!! She was such an amazing hostess tonight! Great attitude so sweet and seamless service to my group. Such a great place to have a meetup with some friends, not too loud and not too quiet where you're scared to talk too loud. Good portion sizes that are great for sharing or eating by yourself. If you have a sweet tooth like me and are a light weight I recommend the smoke and berry cocktail. It's not too sweet and didn't hurt my sensitive stomach. read more

This was our first time at The Macintosh. We were pleasantly surprised by the beautiful decor, fast and friendly service, and the quality and taste of the food. We had to have the biscuit bread pudding. Delicious! They even make holiday pies! We will definitely be back! read more
We took our 19-year-old college boys to dinner for their birthday in May at the Macintosh. I like that reservations are available for small parties, and also I was excited to try their happy hour. We were seated promptly at a high top table in the bar area. We let them know when we made the reservation that we were celebrating two birthdays, and they were immediately recognized. One server took drink and appetizer orders, and then handed everything off to a different server (who we started completely over with). Perhaps that's how the appetizers got messed up. Because it was the last night of restaurant week, one son ordered from the three course menu. He had the House smoked salmon appetizer, which was a ENORMOUS piece of tender smoked salmon with crackers and a side of yummy remoulade. He also ordered the ribs and the Butterscotch Pecan Pie. Perhaps because we had ordered a dessert, the house brought us a complimentary birthday order of charred brussel sprouts with whole roasted garlic cloves, tons of bacon and balsamic. They were amazing and I was shocked that all three of my men ate them! Super light and crispy from the deep fryer, they hardly represented vegetables anymore. Plated on a large cutting board dumped out of a big mason jar, super cute presentation. But also super good stuff! I ordered the $9 smoked salmon dip from the happy hour menu. I did not receive it. What I received was the $17 smoked salmon appetizer that was the same as my son's. Well, I actually would have preferred the dip, because I brought my own GF rice crackers. But the salmon was delicious even though twice the price of what I intended. I did not realize this dish was not the happy hour dip until the bill came, and when I inquired I was told that the salmon appetizer was not on happy hour. Yet no one offered to make this right when it wasn't what I had ordered. I sipped a HH Sazerac throughout the meal, it was boozy and strong, definitely didn't need two. I started with the beets and blue cheese appetizer from the happy hour menu. The beats were perfectly cooked, the cheese and walnuts were plentiful, I really only missed some kind of greens from this dish. I also had the Happy Hour blackened shrimp with risotto and arugula. It was good but unremarkable. I had ordered a side of the jalapeno cheese grits just to try, but it never arrived. Perhaps I forgot to reorder it because I was full. Spouse ordered a burger, as did the other son. He even chose asparagus as his side dish! Everyone was smiling at the end. Servers switch off and the one that handled the bill was different from the one who took the order. This, they seemed not to care that I was charged and delivered a different item than I ordered. I will have to come back to try the items I missed! read more
Me and my family were in the area one afternoon and decided to finally give this place a try. I am more than mad at myself for not trying The Macintosh sooner. Our experience at lunch that day was far beyond my expectations. We decided to try a few things to share and my son decided on the kids Bacon Mac & Cheese. Even the kids meal was excellent. It was a homemade Mac & Chesse with grapes and french fries. My husband and I got the creamy burrata + toast* dressed arugula . jammin' spicy tomato . charred focaccia & The Salad on special of the day. I believe it was arugula salmon and pine nuts in a creamy dressing. The creamy burrata + toast was honestly life changing. I have not stopped thinking about it. We also had great service and loved the open dining experience. The only bad thing I can think to say is that it's so far away from my house. But that wont keep us from coming back. read more

This is the spot that you must check out when you're in the Phoenix area. It's a very cozy yet chic environment that instantly makes you comfortable. The staff is eager to offer you seating and has no hesitation offering recommendations for their modern menu. The cocktails are crafted with such precision and thoroughness you can tell the bartenders take their job seriously. Whether you want a small bit or a full meal there's plenty to choose from. The best offer this restaurant gives besides fine food and drinks is an every day happy hour. We had lunch here today while enjoying the Makers Market. My daughter and I each had the Ahi Poke Bowl and hubby has the brisket sandwich and fries. Everyone enjoyed their meals! There is not a lot of tuna, it's mixed with shrimp and other goodies but the flavor was excellent. Husband says the sandwich was fantastic and I stole a few fries (yummy) We each had a drink (Paloma/wine/beer). Good service as well. $93 before tip read more

The experience didn't start with my food, it started with the hostess Sophia. Honestly I was lost and thought this was the pizza place (which I later learned was around the corner). Sophia not only pointed me in the right direction but told me how amazing the food was here through our conversation. I went to the pizza place and didn't have it in me to wait 45mins. So I came back to my bestie Sophia. She shared her fave dish was 'Cowboy' Baby Back Ribs. My server Zoe shared the special for the day and I got that -- Meatloaf with a mushroom gravy, potato's, and spinach and kale. Look this food was so good I wanted to see if they had one back home to clearly invest with my patronage. Drink: Muddled Berry with Ginger Ale and Mint -- so so so good. 10/10 would drink again Food: Meatloaf with a mushroom gravy, potato's, and spinach and kale -- so flavorful and moist and just delightful. 10/10 would recommend. Dessert: Dark Chocolate Brownie -- 10/10 would recommend. Overall, I loved my experience and the food. The atmosphere in here is so chill and grown. Well, I am pleased to give credit when it's due and I feel as though it is! This place exceeded expectations. I appreciated the warm Welcome and the hospitality from multiple Employees. Our waiter Johnny deserves an honorable mention. He was very patient, well spoken, and knowledgeable of the menu. He was warm, and more attentive then most waiters at comparable establishments. When I come back, I want the same impeccable experience so I'll be asking for his service again! He made sure I got a cool little birthday gift today as I dined in with my mom. Mom got the fish and risotto and liked it a lot, Plus, the serving size was perfect. I opted for short rib. I liked it a lot! I am Glad someone recommended this place to me! Happy early birthday Johnny, enjoy Chi-town!! ----------- Update: review went from 5 stars to 1 because I returned here thinking I would get the same experience as last time but I was very wrong. I guess in order to have a good experience here: you have to have Johnny as your server. I don't even know the servers name I had yesterday because she was so standoffish, did not give her name, nor receipt with her name. She was sooooo mad that she got the tip she deserved yesterday $8, actually deserving of $0 now that I think about it. Didn't give us happy hour menus or mention happy hour, only knew because Johnny informed me last time So I came to experience it. No apology from her for not giving it, I ordered drinks regular priced since she didn't offer HH menu and then I decided To ask " isn't it happy hour rn?" Before Touching my drink thinking she would say something like "sorry! Let me grab it and I'll be happy to exchange your drink for something off the HH menu since I didn't provide it before you ordered"...... nope! It's like she was mad I even asked. Didn't start being warm and friendly with us until she saw we were exchanging gifts, and she saw all the hundreds of dollars in makeup (gifts) on the table, asking if we working for the brand of the makeup....Ofcourse, now All of a sudden you could crack a smile? Hoping we would give you makeup gift too? We would've if you were anything like Johnny. Hospitable, warm, Attentive, and perhaps treated people equally. I stopped in here for lunch today and really great experience! I chose to sit at the bar and it was pretty empty when I came in here at noon. Bartender was nice and service was spot on. Noodle salad with seared ahi tuna was delicious. Lunch total with beer, salad and upcharge for ahi tuna, tax and tip came to close to $50. Not exactly a cheap lunch. They did throw in a free appetizer coupon on next visit, which is good for 2 weeks. Nice spot and would consider coming back when I feel like treating myself to a nice lunch every once in awhile. Just the seared ahi tuna is worth it! Nice date spot too to impress that special someone! read more
The ambiance here is on of the great things here that keeps me coming back. Very quaint and a chill vibe that I makes me feel glad to be there. Dining here over the years has been nonstop with great experiences. I have brought friends here from my hometown Chicago and they too have loved everything about it. The food is delightful. Everything is cooked to order and from scratch. So many favorites like the charred brussel sprouts. This makes my mouth water when I think of them. Candied bacon, 'low and slow' garlic with balsamic reduction. This is the best. Then there are the boat load of wings that I discovered I prefer having the bbq sauce on the side instead of the wings tossed in it. Also, they have a buttermilk pesto dressing that I was introduced to for a dipping since they do not have blue cheese dressing. The buttermilk pesto sends tantalizing sparks throughout my mouth when enjoying it on with the wings. Have you tried the biscuits? Get them by themselves or the happy hour chicken and biscuit and you won't be disappointed. Can we talk about dessert? For the longest I would get the Dark Chocolate Brownie because I love chocolate and a good gooey brownie that's warm, topped with ice cream. This is the best of brownies. Then I was on this bread pudding venture wanting to know what is breading pudding and why is it so popular. Well The Macintosh was the 3rd and final place I tried breading pudding. I fell in love with it. The other couple of places I had tried bread pudding from were dry and I didn't care for the texture or flavors. But here you get bread pudding made from their biscuits topped with ice cream and bourbon anglaise. OMG!!!! Saying this is delicious is an understatement The service team is always so pleasantly kind and hospitable. Sharing their suggestions has helped me many times to enjoy different meals on my visits. When I realized I hadn't done a review here I couldn't believe it so here it is. If you didn't get it from the review, plainly said...I love this place. read more

We ate at The Macintosh on a late Saturday afternoon. There was no wait for a table, and because the weather was really nice, we opted to sit outside. The host came out and wiped our table down before seating us, but there was still dirt on the table. Not off to a great start, but we were hoping the food was good as we had heard from others we know. My son wanted the Chicken Tenders kids meal. For $10, it was a very generous amount of food and well thought out. It came with fries, grapes, a brownie, ketchup, and homemade bbq sauce. I ordered the Macintosh Caesar salad with rotisserie chicken and my husband ordered the Twisted Noodle salad; we also got a side order of grits to share. The Caesar dressing was top notch, and this was probably one of the top Caesar salads I've had. My husband liked his salad also, it was really more of a cold noodle dish vs a salad but the peanut dressing was good and they cooked the steak well. The grits were a bit of a disappointment for me personally due to the texture. They were much thicker and more like a mushy rice instead of what I'm used to which is a creamy texture. Overall, yes the food was good but I'd hesitate to go back (unless someone else was paying) due to the prices. The noodle salad was $22, granted it came with steak or shrimp but that's a hefty price for a lunch item. Caesar salad was $15 including the chicken, it was very good but I'm sure I could find a similar (but probably less delicious) salad elsewhere at a lower price. And this was just for the small, the large was even more. Their other entree menu items are priced similarly, most being $20+. This restaurant has been on my list for a while, which is why we went, ended up paying over $65 with tax/tip even tho we didn't get any drinks (not even soda). read more

Had a fantastic time at Macintosh after the Skin Spirit event with some Yelp Elite squad members. It was great to chat about the event and enjoy a meal together. Our waiter, Zoe, was phenomenal--so kind and surprised us with a complimentary dessert that was a delightful ending to our meal. My first time at this restaurant, excellent food and service. We arrived right before Happy Hour ended, fun place to go for drinks and to share appetizers. It was crowded but not too loud, we sat inside but there is sitting on the patio. We celebrated our Birthdays and they give us special presents, a box of spices. It was a nice surprise. Stopped in for dinner. Decided to call and was advised to schedule a reservation to ensure quick service. Was glad this was advised. As soon as the time came up my table was available, no delay. The waitress was great and helped in ordering. We tried the biscuits which were amazing!!! Probably the best I've had, they were flaky and soft. The short ribs were amazing and very moist. The roti and ribs were great, the chicken was great, very flavorful. The only thing that I wouldn't recommend was the steak. It wasn't bad, it just lacked in seasoning and flavor. Food ordered: Brussel Sprouts, Cajun Fish Sandwich, Black & Blue New York Strip Steak, 12oz. PROS: nice adult atmosphere; good attentive service; lots of parking; plenty Brussel Sprouts, blue cheese topping was delicious CONS: fish sandwich had no taste of Cajun, steak a little tough, not a fan of shoestring fries (to thin), Brussel Sprouts to oily. I would not order the sandwich or Brussels again. read more
My group ate a early meal Saturday night at the Macintosh. Reservations are available on OpenTables and it was busy enough to warrant one. The restaurant has a cool low-key vibe with a louder interior and an attached patio with space heaters if needed. The menu is a little lackluster and might be hard to navigate if you're a vegetarian who doesn't want a salad. We ordered a Harvest Salad, Twisted Noodle Salad II, Smoked Brisket Sandwich, and the Fish n Chips (special of the day). The consensus was everything was okay/good but not great. The Fish n Chips was bland but including some sauce and malt vinegar added the necessary flavors to enjoy. The Harvest Salad had some tough kale in it that could have benefited from some pre-treatment before serving. We had really good service from our waiter and the staff at the hostess stand was great. Despite the service and atmosphere, I don't think we will be returning here anytime soon. read more

We decided to try the Macintosh after hearing some great things from some friends. They have indoor and outdoor seating. They have alot of local beer companies on the menu so my bf decided to try their cider and it was great. We shared the roti and rib combo which is a must get. The ribs were perfect fall off the bone style. It was also perfect to share for a date. We tried the salmon appetizer which I thought was great - but would only recommend if you really enjoy fish. And for dessert we had the brownie which was definitely the right choice, but they had other options for those that don't prefer chocolate. Service was also great, it wasn't too loud outside. My bf has already mentioned 2 times this week how we need to go back and it's only been 4 days. read more
We had a table of 6 for lunch, so we made reservations in advance. It wasn't busy but I always appreciate a place that takes reservations no matter the party size. I had the portabella sandwich which was served on a nice focaccia bread. Toasted and tasty. I didn't want fries so opted for the jalapeño grits which were fantastic with fresh jalapeño. Hubby had the brisket sandwich which he said was a bit plain but the sauce was good and the slaw outstanding. Service was five star! read more
