I came across this place, as it was close to the Sam Adam's Brewery. Having around an hour to kill before we were doing a brewery tour, we stopped by here for some lunch. Upon entering, no one came up to us, and we just randomly sat down at an open table. Not gonna lie, but the service wasn't that good. And this place was not that crowded. After a long wait, someone finally came up to us to take our order. Since we were kind of on a time limit, we ordered our drinks and meals, all at the same time. We never received any water either, after asking for it. For our meals, we went with what looked like 2 of their most popular menu items. An order of chicken and waffles and a stony brook burger. The chicken and waffles was my favorite of these two items. It was very good and I would recommend everyone order this. The burger was okay. It was cooked nicely and had some good toppings on it. I adored this little spot on the corner of Centre St & Pond st. Inside is cozy, rustic and the staff were attentive and welcoming. I ordered the shrimp scampi w/ salmon and it was decent. The salmon was fresh and lightly seasoned, it was missing the lemony-garlicky-buttery taste that you'd usually have with a classic shrimp scampi. So I'd classify this as a fresh seafood pasta. I ordered from this place for the first time via DoorDash. I got the Belgian waffles with fruit and the breakfast pizza. The Belgian waffle came literally with three pieces of half strawberries, no syrup, and a pinch of powdered sugar. How are you charging more for waffles with Berries and you're not giving berries? Furthermore, how am I to eat this with no syrup. You call back to the restaurant and try to explain what the issue was and it's like nonchalant they don't give a f***. I went into The Joint for the first time when they first opened. I was put off by the unwelcoming employees who didn't greet us or offer to seat us or anything even though it was slow and didn't end up staying. I decided to give them another chance. Three of us walked in around 3PM on a Saturday. It was not particularly busy, but not slow. We were not greeted and went to the bar to ask if we could get a table. A rude employee waved me away and said 5-10 minutes. She eventually did seat us and rudely said if we are going to be ordering drinks she needs to see all of our IDs (which is obvious, and we understand, but she explained it to us like we are all dumb when we are all around 30, so we know how it works). We got drinks and food without incident. Meaning she took our order and the food came, but not once did anyone check in on us or even speak a single word to us while we were placing the order. It was like she hated interacting with people. The food: dry potato's, bland salad dressing, bland chicken, and basic fries. Eggs Benedict was over cooked. It was not disgusting, but extremely underwhelming. The only somewhat decent thing was the Bloody Mary. So in conclusion: service was horrendous, food was not worth eating, and the drinks were okay. Took my sister her for a late lunch. She got the chicken wings (Buffalo sauce) which smelled really good. This place has limited gluten free options - they do have gluten free bread which is definitely a plus. I wouldn't eat the wings since they are cooked in the same fryer with gluten containing items. The Mac and cheese is truly amazing looking. My sister loved it! The consistency is definitely enough to save and keep you full. According to her there wasn't much salt but once we mixed everything it turned out better. I would add a little pepper flakes/pepper to the Mac. This place charged me $24 for a steak that I could honestly do better at home. It was tough, bland, and badly undercooked. The next time I went, I ordered a burger which was also undercooked and wasn't neatly as good as the burgers offered by place that this place is replacing. They should take a cue from the thriving restaurant (Gras Fed) that used to be here (that I was a regular at) and copy their menu...particularly the boozy smoothies. No sweet potato fries? Why not?!? We go regularly and the people who work there couldn't be more welcoming. It's my home away from home. And the food is delicious. I love the crab cake Benny and my hubby loves the rancheros. Fun times, cute ambiance, super awesome staff makes this place a solid 4-star experience! Came to the Joint on a whim after putting in a few hours of work at a local coffeeshop and they served up some yummy, hefty burgers pretty quickly despite the press of in-sort and takeout diners. Both burgers were delicious with really generous patties, a soft brioche bun, and just the right amount of cheese. I wish mine had a little more crunch factor from lettuce, although bacon served that function nicely. My partner's Forest Hills burgers (with grilled pineapple) was lovely -- the pineapple was smokey and thin, adding just a hint of sweet and tang. They had a very solid beer and cocktail list ($10) and their drinks were pretty interesting. The staff was the best part -- so friendly and helpful! When I thought I had lost my hat they really took time to help me try and locate it (although afterwards I realized I had put it in my pack for safekeeping...facepalm). Pretty disappointing, but I suspect it's largely due to the delivery situation. Ordered for 5:45-6:00pm window and was not thrilled to get texts from different numbers telling me my order was ready and en route at 5pm! But then nothing showed up and at 5:30 I checked the tracking and saw the delivery guy from Doordash just left it on my porch 15 mins earlier and didn't ring the bell. WHAT. That is so uncool. Not even a text saying it was delivered. So, food was early, old and cold. I think pizza, fries and calamari would've been nice if it was fresh. I love a good neighborhood spot and it was an easy walk from Sam Adams and back to the train station. We had good service and everything we ordered was amazing. I live in the neighborhood and stopped by one afternoon. The bar was empty and the bartender was fine. I just wanted a snack and a beer. I ordered a pint and some fries. The beer was flat and not warm but not cold either. The fries had some sort of coating on them and way too salty. They're supposedly truffle parmesan fries. I didn't taste any truffle or parmesan. I'm a potato freak and rarely would I not finish off a plate of fries. I only ate about a quarter of them. The bartender had disappeared and there was a woman server there whom I asked for my check. Without looking at me or saying a word, she gave me my check. I paid her and she never looked at me or said a word. I told her, "the fries are way too salty". Her one word reply was, "yeah". I don't like perky servers so I really don't mind unenthusiastic ones as long as they do their job well, but this one, she was downright depressing. The Joint may have the best food in Boston (it wouldn't be difficult) but I'll never know. My first impression of the food and the sourpuss server left a bad taste in my mouth. WOW, that was sad. Today I went in and it was about 18 minutes before I even got a waitress over to my table to take my order . Not to mention that a table that got sat about 5 minutes after me had their order taken before I did. But anyways I put in my order, it was another 32 minutes before I got my food (by this point I was timing it). When I finally did get my food, my waitress FINALLY asked me if I wanted water (having been there for 50 minutes without a drink or tableware or anything else really), which I declined given how slow things were moving. I ordered the Boston cream burger, medium, and it was bland honestly. The food was by no means worth the wait but by that time I was hungry enough to want to eat it anyways. Honestly I will never come back. And before anyone talks about how they were busy, I've been to busier restaurants that were more understaffed and still got better service then I did today. Hell, I would've even preferred my waitress was a dick because then, at the very least, I would've had some decent service. Fantastic first experience at this new reimagintation of the old grass fed. Still great burgers, but with some new cool Innovations like a blood orange aioli. The fries were to die for, perfectly crisp and sprinkled with rosemary. The beer and wine list is pretty decent, and there is an interesting cocktail list too. So far it appears the cocktails are not made with traditional hard spirits, instead opting for vermouth and such, I suspect this has something to do with the level of liquor license they carry.
