    CHICKEN CURRY
    Michelle P.

We came here based on the review ratings. The place looked pretty good, like a proper pub, but the food was mediocre at best. Way overpriced for the quality of the food. The chicken curry tasted microwaved and lacked flavor. The naan was basically a cracker. The service was fine and the beer was cold but that's about it. Come to drink and watch a game, skip the food.

Nice local pub with a Scottish theme. All the faves. The fish and chips were 5*. Fantastic Scotch selection. The Scottish, Irish, and British beer selections on tap are stellar. I'd come here anytime to watch a soccer match.

Hospitality: A++ Knowledge : A++ Smiles : Always Food quality : A++ Decor: A++ Whisky tasting : Best in New England maybe!!! The only place where I happily always order the Scotch Egg first and then look at the menu. Jason is always welcoming and fills one and all with so much warmth!!! Always trying to be back. Always leaving happy!

Had a pretty solid dinner here this past week. We made a reservation for two and were disappointed to have been sat in the corner with seats facing away from each other. After a few minutes, our waitress offered to move us when another seat opened. We eventually were able to move to a table where the seats faced each other. Food was pretty good -- the salmon was really well done and was the favorite of the night. The staff was helpful and patient. Good vibes!

Stopped by The Haven for dinner on Sunday night! We were immediately sat and walking inside felt like I was teleported to a tavern. The ambiance of the place felt very relaxed almost like a background a bar in a game. I got the Fish Dinner which came with one fish, mushy peas, and potato wedges. The fish was a little bland and the batter was thin, so it got soggy fast. Service was very friendly, but a bit slow at times despite being relatively empty. I'd come here for a casual drink, but not for a meal.

Great ambiance , food and drink selection . Poached eggs cooked to perfection. Scottish sausages not overly greasy. Curt but cordial service.

I love this spot. They have a nice private patio as well a cozy indoor dining room. I was pleasantly surprised by the menu, which made me forget I was at a bar restaurant. The salmon had crispy skin and was served with a quinoa tossed green salad with a delicious dressing. The fried garbanzo beans added a nice texture. It is a place to linger so I went ahead and ordered the whiskey creme brulee. Everything was spot on including the service. A five minute walk from the orange T line and in the same complex as the Sam Adams tour.

The batter was kinda burnt and made it taste bitter and the fries warm and tough.

Not impressed at all as much as I thought I would like it. The Batter was a little burnt on my fish dinner witch gave it an unpleasant bitter taste the fries were under cooked yet burnt on the outside even more bitterness the scotch egg was a chintzy affair the layer of sausage was so thin it was laughable for $12 give me a break. The Beef pie was a bit much not bad just too thick as far the meat inside made for a laborious chew. Over all I would pass on this place there are way better places that serve this type of food in the city.

Very nice atmosphere, warm and welcoming with excellent, friendly service from Katrine. My burger was AMAZING! One of the best burgers I have ever had. It had that nice sear on the outside and lusciously juicy on the inside cooked just right. The fries were piping hot. Poached pear for dessert was refreshingly delicious. I look forward to the next time.

~First Impressions~ Came here twice for two different events. Both through a good friend. First time hearing about the Haven but the atmosphere and staff are amazing. We had Jared as a waiter and he was top class. As a fellow whisky lover, he gave great recommendations and overall was a bright and fun waiter. We also had the pleasure of meeting Jason the owner and he is a great character. Full of smiles and tremendously generous with a great community around him. This place is more than just food and drinks. It's a place with great hospitality. ~The Food~ I had all kinds of starters and entrees here with all of them delivering. The croquettes, scotch egg, lam sausage and pepperoni pizzas were all tasty with the variety of drinks they offered. The Haven Burger was definitely the favorite. Best sliders I've had in Boston! ~The Logistics~ Staff is very accommodating and there's plenty of space all around. There's also a parking lot with plenty of spots, but it does start getting busy towards the evenings. ~Bonus~ The Haven have some great events and I had a chance to attend one of the Dram nights. Sat at a table with a friend and a couple of strangers we met. Was a pleasant experience with an excellent selection of cask strength single malts. The history and story behind each helped enhance the experience and again Jason driving the crowd with such positive energy is a blast.

This review falls somewhere between 3 1/2 to 4 stars…read more Ever since I heard about Don't Tell Aunty opening up last year I've been itching to get in and try it, especially as someone who loves Indian cuisine and someone who is often intrigued by fusion concepts and modern twists on classic dishes. We finally decided to go for a mid afternoon meal on a Saturday in the beginning of June. We looked at the menu online ahead of time to refresh our memories on their offerings, and the food was listed all together in a section called "all day menu". We had some dishes in mind that we wanted to try, namely the tikka tots, the mirchi bhajji and the rasam ramen. Unfortunately none of these items were on the menu when we went in. I realized that they have separate menus for lunch and dinner with the lunch menu being more limited, which I know lots of restaurants do. Nevertheless we were still excited to try the food there. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice. Beautiful design, very comfortable and the music was a vibe. Contrary to some of the other reviews here saying that the service was aloof and lackluster, we found that it was prompt and down to earth. We opted for some Indian beers over cocktails. For food we decided on some curry dishes. Boyfriend ended up with paneer butter masala, I had Goan fish curry and we split some garlic naan. The guy did warn ahead of time that the fish curry was a naturally spicy dish, to which I stated that I was totally cool with that since I love the spicier dishes. Boyfriend asked for his butter masala to be extra hot. The presentation of the entrees is absolutely stunning. The rice was fluffy and the curry hit all the flavor notes as it was a little sweet, a little spicy and a little tangy. In hindsight I think I should've asked them to make it a tad spicier for me, but the flavor was definitely there and it was a pretty solid, filling dish. Boyfriend really enjoyed his butter masala, saying that they delivered on his request for extra heat. The bread wasn't bad, though the portion is rather small and it kind of reminded me of the packaged naan bread you can get at the grocery store. Overall it was a good experience at Don't Tell Aunty. I did see on the website that they were making changes to the menu, so I look forward to seeing what else they can do.

The portions were shockingly large. The atmosphere was club like which felt a little odd but also added to the vibes. Service was quick, recommendations were given without fanfare and they were absolutely correct. Absolutely would go back in a heart beat and I was texting friends with upcoming Boston trips to make sure to stop in.

It's pretty small, which lends to a warm and noisy ambiance which is nice to feel a little cozier and livelier in the winter months. I have tried their late night menu but to be honest I was imbibed and my enhoyment may have been stilted because I was quite hungry! My friend got their like short-term speciality cocktail of a garlic bread martini, and it was actually good?!? I was expecting it to be repulsive but they even did that well. Even a good pub has good tea. Next the noise level was about that of Park Square station at rush hour. You had to yell to be heard, and I am not deaf. Service was decent but certainly not great. Most of us had the baked cod with lentil and fennel. You received about 2 ounces of lentils and a bit of over cooked and tasteless fennel. The fish was decent though would have been better with a solid crumb topping. Pricing is aggressive even for Brookline. I would certainly come back for a beer with friends. I would not recommend sitting down for dinner.

Salty Pig Pizza: A pizza with the same name as the restaurant! Who was the genius who came up with the idea of salted pig and beer caramel? It's brilliant! The salted pork appears to include Prosciutto di Parma from Langirano, Prosciutto Cotto, and Salcissia. Baking rendered the prosciutto's fat, which blends with the caramel to create a beautiful golden syrup that flows across the pizza's surface. The prosciutto was savory, oily, and tender; the minced salcissia retains its coarse texture and rich meaty aroma; the caramel was sweet and mellow with a honey-like sweetness, forming the top, middle, and base notes respectively. The arugula was slightly warmed, losing its astringent and raw taste while maintaining its crisp texture, helped to cut through the richness together with the Parmesan cheese powder. The crust was crispy, while the inside the dough was soft and chewy. The cooking time and seasoning were all just right, and the restaurant's proud wooden oven added a charming smoky flavor. Affogato: I had high expectations, but it was just okay. The espresso was too sour, and the vanilla ice cream couldn't balance it out. The almond biscuits had an overpowering almond flavor, and the flavor of plant-based protein was terrible! (Oh, this should have been a plus...)
