A few nights ago I placed an order thru the drive thru, and they royally screwed up my order. I had ordered a turkey burger with no mayonaise and extra tomatoes as well as a small cheese fries, but what I recieved was a soggy burger with just the patty and mayonaise and a large fries with hardly any cheese. I wanted to come back that night but there was a DUI checkpoint right in front of the place, and i didnt want to go thru a whole ordeal just to fix my order. I showed up tonite to place another order and get a discpunt or at least comped for the butchered order, but the cashier refused to do either, and informed me that if i wanted a discount I had to talk to the morning shift manager. I don't think I was asking a lot, and Im sure there is a night shift manager there that could have okayed it. I explained to him that I am a regular customer and come here weekly, and I am just surprised that the staff is willimg to lose a regular customer over this, I mean what is the cost to them, a few measly dollars, nothing compared to the $20 to $40 O drop here everytime I visit. Today went to eat here. ordered a pastrami and a steak sandwich.....the pastrami was so-so compared to the pastrami from The Hat in Monterey Park. The steak sandwich was an unforgettable surprise.....the steak was as thin as a piece of paper!!!!!!!! The sandwich was stuffed mostly with lettuce, all for $8.99 and no fries. Also, the steak sandwich had no flavor whatsoever and plain little, thin piece of meat and lettuce...that's all. I was very disappointed. One of the best pastrami sandwiches around. It's large and tasty. I get it with the dip on the side. Small fries are huge and they have the best cherry Cokes in town. I hear the burgers are great and they look really good. I haven't tasted one. I always go for the pastrami. Some of the other Maxies have gotten the Chilli cheese pastrami fries and they are as big as a house. When they start making seal chilli I'll be there every week. The people that work here are pretty rude and don't admit their own mistakes. I ordered food and when I got home realized my whole order was wrong! They asked me to come and bring the food back so they could take it (which is pretty weird and gross). When I came, the man in red, a woman and another worker kept asking me to repeat what was wrong and when I did he said "so what's the problem?" The hat is great for simple dinner food to me there is nothing really special about it but there Chile Cheese Fries other than that it just a regular greasy spoon. I have had a horrible experience there with the manager after I ordered Chile Cheese Fries and a Pastrami no pickled no mustard though the driver and I trusted they got it right because I ordered it slowly and clearly he even repeated it. I get home and guess what, everything was on it, I drive back ask the manager for my money back because i just wasted to much of my time in the long drive and driving back i was just gonna buy something else on the way home. The guy says no because i don't the receipt?? The drive through has a receipt stabbed on a pin every time they take a order i was there no more that 20 minutes ago, The guy in the window even acknowledge me when I walked in. My receipt was lost since the fries don't come in a bag where they usually throw it in. The Manager was a total dick trying push his weight around I told him to look at the stabbed window receipt in the drive through and said he did not have to. I said cool outside the restaurant they had a police check point for drunks. I told him I'm walk out get a cop explain to him what happen and you will give me back my money. That scared manager because right way he changed his attitude. He did what I suggested found the receipt from drive threw and gave me back my money. That dick did nothing more that night but piss off a loyal customer because he wanted to look cool in front of his employees. He was talking shit about me in Spanish to them but he did not realize I knew what he was saying because I look white but am Mexican. This is the kinda place that you have to come in having a fatty mentality and you must commit to it....sadly i fail at the commitment part as I cannot finish an entire pastrami sandwich HOWEVER half of the sandwich should get me an honorable mention as they are pretty big.The sandwiches are loaded with pastrami...words dont do it justice. Can you say, "PASTRAMI DIP?!?" This place is awesome. I had to try their "World Famous Pastrami." It was awesome! They really loaded on the portions of thinly sliced, perfectly cured pastrami on a delicious, fresh baked roll. It was absolutely fantastic! They offer a ton of different condiments for sandwiches and burgers. I went with spicy mustard to make it more New York Deli-esque. I ordered a side of fries as well, which were overflowing out of the package. They didn't skimp at all!!! There was a lot of rockers hanging out there, which I found odd, other than the hours, I don't know what the appeal of this place would be for a bunch of punks, skateboarders, and hooligan types. Oh wait....It may be the chili cheese fries, which looked absurd, in the best way possible! I was craving chilli cheese fries and went to the hat for their famous chilli. As soon as I tried the chilli cheese it had a sour taste, the second bite taste like chlorine, then the 3rd definitely taste like chlorine. So I asked my mom to taste it and she said "wow! These fries taste alot like chlorine or pool water!" I returned that order and asked for something else. I even told them to go ahead and try so they can see for themselves the food taste like chlorine. The workers looked at the chilli cheese fries in discuss and said "no thank you and we're sorry about that" (sarcastically). Finally, they gave me a bland, terrible tasting burger and fries. I read somewhere that ammonia or chlorine tasting food could be expired cheese. Gross. Furthermore, the customer service was terrible. The cooks kept laughing because I returned the food. Went there ordered a pastrami at the drive thru. Started eating it found a long black hair in the middle of my sandwich. It wasn't mine because I'm skin bald. Noticed workers didn't have hair nets or gloves when preparing food. I called the establishment told them what happened they said with no apologies that they would give me another sandwich if I wanted to make another drive to the place like they were doing me a favor. I'm really disappointed with this place poor hygiene and piss poor management. Will not go there again. Sorry but hairs are not on my menu.
