Decided to try this place on a recommendation. I really was looking forward to it. One star for service. Food and drinks were not it. Did not care for the Michelada mix which is technically what they're known for, right?! I've had better Micheladas and food at El Pescador. Menu items look nothing like what is served. Food was bland no flavor. We had to ask for salt. Restaurant decor is very off putting it was all over the place. No air conditioning. Music is way too loud.. cant have a normal conversation without yelling across the table. The service was okay. Our server was nice. Uniforms...yoga pants and midriffs..... sure. If that's what a uniform is. This place needs a revamp... I do not recommend this spot. I will definitely not be back. There are so many other nicer restaurants in the area. read more

We stumbled into La Michelada on a last-minute date night and ended up finding such a gem! My sister offered to take the kids for a couple of hours, so we were on a mission for good food, drinks, and live music. Since it was Mexican Independence Day weekend, I found the night market on social media and figured we'd give it a try. The weather was perfect, the shops were open late, and when we wandered into La Michelada for dinner, the place was a whole vibe. It was packed, but we managed to grab two seats at the bar. Our bartender was AMAZING. I wish I'd gotten her name! She had long curly hair and the coolest black and gold glasses. Despite how busy the bar was, she was attentive all night, made every drink exactly how we asked, accommodated every request, and those drinks HIT. Find her. She'll make your night! We did have one hiccup: our food took close to an hour. Normally that would have been frustrating but, honestly, the place was slammed because of the night market. Our bigger problem was that our babysitting clock was ticking and we had to get home. Our bartender kept checking on the food for us and was completely understanding when we finally told her we just needed to pay for our drinks and go. Right as we were settling the bill, the manager came over with our food. When my husband and the bartender explained that we had to leave because of the wait, he was incredibly kind and understanding. Since the food was already made, he gave it to us anyway, completely free of charge. And THEN we tasted it. So good! This place specializes in mariscos, but I ordered street tacos with rice and everything was delicious. And you already know, when the salsa AND the rice are good at a Mexican restaurant, you're in good hands. This place is the real deal. The food was so good I actually felt a little guilty that we ended up getting it for free! We made sure to tip our mixologist extra big and hope that made up for it. What could have easily turned into a bad experience actually left us really impressed. Great atmosphere, delicious drinks, genuinely good food, and most importantly, people who know how to take care of their customers even on an insanely busy night. If you're looking for an upbeat Saturday night spot with good music, tasty Mexican food, and drinks that don't disappoint, La Michelada is definitely worth checking out. 8/19/26 La Michelada Upland CA...Came here for week 7 of 9 with Upland City Councilman Carlos Garcia & friends for the Upland Food Crawl. We all had a great lunch here! Loved the chips & salsa and shrimp ceviche included with our meals. I ordered the lunchtime chicken enchiladas with green salsa & sour cream. It also came with beans and rice. All my items tasted great! Yarelli provided great table service! This used to be the Captain's Grill so I was sad to see they were gone, but I gladly accept and suggest you come check this place out! The restaurant was clean and has a cool store front to the open air. The bar looks nice and they have at least 5 tv's to watch sports! I will definitely be back!!! read more

It's a 5/5 for me! Ambiance - Still looks like the Captains Gill, it's nice. It's comfortable, clean (clean bathrooms), and the music is good (favorable for conversation). You could dress it up or dress it down. Service - the wait staff is attentive, helpful, and sweet. They were kind to my kids. The food didn't take long. Value - Taco Tuesday $10! I got a whole plate for $15 Food - another win it's authentic Mexican food. Best Michelada I've ever had! The rice reminded me of my Mexican mom's rice recipe. They nailed the basics. My friends and I stopped her for a quick lunch after flying into Ontario International Airport. We were all really impressed with the food, the drinks and the staff. The owner checked in on us several times. It is a bright open space with both indoor and outdoor seating. The lunch menu is very well priced and the portions are generous. First of all the service was not there. They took forever to come over and during our meal, not once did she check on us. Now the worst part,I ordered the shrimp ceviche. She brings me a bowl of raw shrimp and told me that's how they serve it. I understand it's ceviche, I'm latina, but I know when it's completely raw and it should not be served that way (wish I had a pic). I tried it because I felt bad sending it back, after 3 tastes I almost threw up. It was nasty and horrible. She didn't offer to send it back or to replace/refund it. It was a very disappointing experience, I will never come back nor will I recommend this place! And I got FOOD POISONING! I just had to visit this location after finding out it opened. I have been to the Fontana and Monrovia location before. Ordered the aguachile and mixed ceviche tostadas and it was amazing. The staff was friendly and the service was excellent. Our servers checked on us frequently and the manager even stopped by to have a brief conversation with us. It felt authentic and genuine. This place has an amazing taco Tuesday. They offer $2 tacos in either asada, chicken, carnitas, or pastor as well as a place of 3 tacos and rice and beans for only $10. The tacos are fresh and tasty with a generous portion of meat. Their green salsa is very tasty and the red salsa that comes with the complimentary chips has an amazing kick. We've been here a few times and the service is always super friendly. Diana is so kind and attentive and sweet! She bring so much joy to the place! Maggie was our bartender this time and she makes a great Mexican mule and was very nice and attentive. We've had Mexican candy shots there before and they are perfection! Offering "reservations" instead of offering to first come first serve: ONLY because the tables were open for a while, they came in late and were not even "regulars" or consuming! Service was poor that day. Diana was catering to the people she "knew" instead of walking the floor and checking on everyone. ***ALSO, THERE WERE A GROUP OF girls at the bar (heavier girls, until a dude joined them and he started drinking) and couple of guys that were not consuming, they were not drinking, not eating! Just chilling. The first 1 hr of the game, all they had was diet coke and club soda with lemon (hey, if you don't drink, that is fine, but order food, consume! Otherwise, let someone that is willing to drop their money seat there) - don't just warm up the chair! HOPEFULLY THIS WEDNESDAY'S GAME; * THEY PLAN OR COORDINATE BETTER; SET A DRINK LIMIT! * No reservations unless they are getting a bottle, or bucket minimum (etc) * Bar seating: drinking is a must! Best smelling bathrooms!!! lol I'm really big on that. Especially in Upland ,(if you know what I'm talking about ) Food was perfect authentic Mexican dishes. I didn't try rice or beans strictly taking about the ceviche , birria tacos & shrimp tacos. Fresh seafood is a hard thing to find. Bartender Raul very quick cool. Owner bought my wife and I a tequila shot which was awesome. Waitresses are really nice. Beers $6.50 ish not too bad , $5.50 when you get draft (avg) overall we spent about two hours hanging out at the bar after the farmers market this Saturday.
