I came here since I was in the area and was craving Mexican food. I saw that they had mole on the menu which I have been wanting to try. Their menu has a large selection. Seating area is large and darkly lit. The guy who took my order was attentive and quickly gave me a free chip and salsa with my water. The mole is a good portion and seasoned nicely. The red rice and refried beans were seasoned nicely. The chicken was moist and the mole had a good flavor balance of sweet, salty, and slightly spicy. A friend introduced me to El Perico Ranchero and I was surely not disappointed! We came on a Friday night and were able to get seated in a booth right away even though it was busy. It has a homey and casual ambiance, great for families. Service was quick and the waiter was attentive and made sure we always had our cups full. I ordered the enchilada and tamale combo. New favorite Mexican restaurant. Have been here twice once before for dinner and recently for breakfast/ brunch. The menu has great authentic selections. The food is very authentic and flavorful. The huevos con papas tasted just like how my abuelita would make them. Feels like home. Tortillas are amazing! They taste fresh and homemade. Service is great too! Margaritas are a 10/10. Complimentary chips and salsa were also a hit, had to stop myself before getting too full before eating my entrée lol. Overall, will be coming back plenty of times! I was really surprised how good the food was at this place. I wasn't expecting it at all. It's a big restaurant in a strip mall with lots of parking. It gets very very live and busy. Lots of people. Has an old vibe to it. I think it's also family owned. Our waiter was just awesome. Unfortunately I forgot his name because it's been a few months since I was there (yes, my review is late but better late than never). My friend took me here for dinner. It was both our first time. We ordered the combination fajitas (steak, shrimp and chicken) for 2. We each got our own plate of rice, beans + fixings and tortillas of our choice. While we waited, we were served with chips and salsa and we order Cadillac margaritas and they were not only yummy, but strong and not over priced either. Chips came with 2 salsa's both good, one hotter than the other. Our fajitas came with a very good made from scratch guacamole and a pico de gallo. Walking into the restaurant and to our table, it smelled so good as we passed the other tables of customers already eating. Music plays in the background but they also have a small stage so they must have a DJ or live music on other nights. Service was excellent and our waiter made us feel like he could customize anything and everything without making us feel guilty about it. He also made great recommendations and made us feel very comfortable. Everyone in the restaurant seemed to be enjoying their drinks, food and the music just as we were. My girlfriend and I had a great time. Portions were big, good value and we had leftovers to bring home. Everything was perfect. I have no complaints about this place and I'll definitely return here when I want good Mexican food, drinks and good music to listen to. I think I'll bring my mom and son here next time. read more

I love perico so MUCH and this is not biased. I started coming here as a teen with my family but have grown to love this place and make it a staple in my restaurant rotation lol The pricing has changed but I'll still be coming here with no complaints. El Perico is a spot I've been to before, but it had been a while, so I decided to swing by for lunch. Walking in, it was pretty quiet--almost eerily so for lunchtime. Not much staff was around, including the bartender, who apparently doesn't come in until mid-day. By the time I left, the bar area had come to life with patrons eagerly waiting for drinks. On this visit I ordered three carnitas and asada tacos, priced at $6 each, and quickly realized I'd overcommitted. I would have been fine with just two. These are no ordinary tacos--they're full-on meal tacos. Each one came on a full-sized corn tortilla piled high with meat. Honestly, you could split one taco into two and still be satisfied. Pro tip: bring your appetite or a friend who doesn't mind sharing. The carnitas were definitely the star--juicy, flavorful, and tender. The asada was fine, but it just couldn't compete with the carnitas. The service was decent, though I found myself waiting a little longer than I'd like for drink refills. Overall, El Perico serves up solid food with portions that could feed a small army. Just be prepared to wait a bit if you're thirsty, and maybe time your visit for when the bartender clocks in! read more

This a wonderful restaurant! The food is great, reasonable, generous and the servers are quick and nice! We like coming to this location especially. The chicken soup with avocado is very good especially when it's cold outside! It's a full meal! The salsa is fresh and guacamole can be made fresh tableside. Yum!! We have come here about 10 times now and this has been our experience. Last night it seems we got the worst server. She was in a huge hurry and just very uncaring. People that came in after us with another sever were eating before we even ordered. I hope she is not our server in the future. Perhaps we caught her on a bad day or when they were short staffed. Where should i start, at first i thought it was a joke than realized they were extremely serious about what a Chile Relleno is supposed to be , Authentic Mexican dishes matter when visiting a restaurant that is selling Mexican Food not sure where they think this is a good dish but it was not . This local restaurant has a classic Mexican restaurant vibe. Servers arevery friendly and attentive. Chips and salsa were provided. Though the chips were a bit dry, the salsa was very good. The ensalata verde, which I was told is their "side salad" was enormous. I ordered the #5, and the chile relleno was tasty and well made. Accompanying rice was well seasoned and flavorful. The beans would have been good except that there was an intermittent spoiled flavor as if some older beans that had gone "off" were mixed in with new fresh beans. Though off-putting, it would probably not keep me from coming back. Everyone has an off day. The iced tea was unfortunately also off/spoiled, so either left out too long during brewing, or the canister in need of cleaning. They kindly replaced it with ice water, but also did still charge me for it. I will give it another try in the future but do hope they take note. read more

When I'm in the mood for Mexican, I drive down to Mexico and cross the border for a day of eating. However, a friend invited me here and I was pleasantly surprised. Lived in the area for many years and never knew this place existed. As you first walk-in you walk into the bar and it has a vibe, bar is fully stocked and TVs, they had the Dodger game playing, we sat in the dinning area so I can't remember if the sound was on. The food was great not your typical Mexican food but it was good. I got two shrimp tacos, they were huge but I only finished one, they were on flour tortillas and had American shredded cheese but the taste was great. My boyfriend had the shrimp cocktail which he enjoyed, he did have to make it spicy but that's to his liking. He said the shrimp was fresh and delicious. Only con I can think of is that didn't have any spicy salsas. Finally, the staff was great, fast service, attentive, and friendly! We will definitely go back! read more
