We really wanted to like this place more, but overall it was just an average or less average experience. The portions were ok, and the margarita was large and refreshing and good actually, but I had to ask for it 3x, but the food itself was only okay. Nothing we ordered stood out enough to make us want to return. We sat down and it wasn't busy. 15 min later they came and took our order. The hostess that came to us first was attentive he was really the only one. The biggest disappointment was the customer service. Throughout our entire visit, there was very little attention from all staff. We rarely saw our server, drinks went unrefilled longer than they should have, and there was no effort to check in and see how our meal was. I never once was asked if I would like another margarita. Hospitality can make a huge difference, and unfortunately it was lacking here. This is huge for me in a sit down. The restaurant has a fun sports-bar atmosphere with plenty of TVs, but the restroom also needed attention and wasn't as clean as expected. Overall, not a terrible experience, but not one I'd go out of my way to repeat at all. There are too many great Mexican restaurants in the area for this one to make it back onto my regular rotation. Chili relleno - Tasted great. Small portion, but good value for just $7 a la carte. Carne asada burrito - Big portion, great to share. At $15, decent value. The server asked if we wanted it wet, with salsa on top, and we said yes, not knowing it would cost $2 more. We didn't particularly like either salsa though, so we would say no next time to the salsa. The complementary chips and salsa was really good! When Mi Ranchito closed down we had to find a new favorite Mexican place. Los Magueyes has stepped up to fill the void. The service is always friendly and attentive. We've never had a bad day there. The food is good with generous portions. The menu isn't as diverse as Ranchito was, but it does have some new favorites. I love their Picadillo! Fresh taste with tender pork and a bright cilantro twist. Not a fan of enchilada sauce so I was concerned, but tried it anyway. It's delish! There's a small patio to the side so if you want to get a little al fresco ambiance, it's decent. Their Skinny Margarita leaves a little to be desired...too much club soda. This is a cool place. This is our second time here. The food is really good . I'm super picky on rice and beans and they are one of my favorites. We bought trays of Enchiladas (Chicken and Cheese), Rice, and Beans for our annual Christmas Party. Prices were very reasonable, and the food portions were very generous. Restaurant employees were very friendly and helpful both in placing the order and when picking it up. They even brought it out to our car! I have lived in Upland for over 20 years! I've been in this center so many times in so many places close by. A good friend of mine just told me about this restaurant this past Friday night. We were pleasantly surprised at this hidden gem. We ate here last Friday as well as today, Sunday. I made this review two visits in one! I wish we would have found this place much, much sooner!!! To start off for Friday night, we had the chips and salsa as an appetizer. You can almost never go wrong on this. I love their salsa, but I am allergic to onions, so I just worked around not eating the white onions and tried to have my friend eat more of those. I don't fault the restaurant for my onion allergy, but they do put so many onions. I still love the red part of the salsa. On the second round of chips and salsa, I asked for their green salsa, which I really love. It doesn't have any onions!!! To drink, I just had water, and my friend three Dos Equis XX. We then ordered our main courses. My friend ordered two ground beef tacos, and I ordered the simple bean and cheese burrito. He seemed to like his tacos pretty well. I really enjoyed my burrito. It was huge, flavorful, and tasted very well with the green salsa. Both days, we had great service from every worker there. Each man or lady who helped us also checked up on us very often. We appreciated their hospitality here. Every worker seemed that they worked really hard and enjoy their jobs here. The place seemed very clean inside and outside. We also were able to request watching our hockey games on the same television both days at the center bar area. We even appreciated that they put the volume up a little, so we did get some game sound. So when we came back Sunday for the second time, we definitely had the chips and salsa again. They brought us two red salsas and one green salsa. I was able to transfer most of the onions from mine to my friends. After a little while, we ordered the chicken tortilla soup and requested an empty bowl to share as it is a very, very large bowl! $15.95 is steep for paying for even a large bowl of soup. However, I knew if we were going to pay that much, it must be good. I have to say sharing was a great idea. The soup had a lot of flavor! Had a good amount of chicken, noodles, and even avocado!!! I also added some of my broken salsa chips in periodically to give the soup some more crunch! So technically, this ended up being $8 each to share the big bowl of soup. I think it was still a steep cost, but we thought it was still well worth it! Along with sharing the tortilla soup, we both had one taco each. We both ended up having one shredded beef taco each. The taco was very decent sized, and I loved putting the green salsa on it. I did appreciate the taco meat not having onions! There was so much lettuce and cheese left. It was like I had a free salad, so I made a salad by adding some tortilla chips broken up and some of the green salsa as my dressing! After this, we were both so full. I had water, and my friend had 2 Dos Equis XX beers again to wash it all down. Overall, these were two wonderful visits!!! We will definitely be back! I was so blessed to talk with one of the workers before I left for other suggestions for when we return. I think there may be "better" (always down to personal opinion by the way) Mexican restaurants in the area, but the value I personally see in Rancho Los Magueyes is their service and staff, good chips and salsa, great margaritas, and a family friendly menu that hits the spot. I walked in tonight with a group of 9 and they had zero seating and were so busy because of the game. They were very calm and polite and transparent with letting us know the situation. We waited outside and asked for separate booths since that's all they had. They accommodated us very well and continued to serve with excellence service throughout the entire night. We've been coming here for years but lately it's been going downhill. Saturday night was our last night, sadly. A few small things that ended up being the determining factors. 1) the last 2 times here, I ordered the fried jalapenos. Menu states it's quantity 4 for $4. Each time I received 3. Saturday I mentioned it to the waiter than it only had 3 and he said "I'll tell the kitchen." A 4th one was not brought and a discount wasn't applied. Is it a lot of money? Of course not. But it wasn't handled at all. 2) My husband ordered a house margarita, menu stated $11. He was charged for a jumbo margarita for $13. 3) and the worst one... when we received the already high bill, it now states 2 different charges: one if you pay cash and a higher if you pay by card. Unacceptable. I've always put up with the mediocre service for the food and the ambiance but with how much it cost to eat out these days, I'd rather spend my time and money elsewhere where I don't feel taken advantage of. read more

I will say the taste of burritos was pretty good considering no condiments, really basic. Upon pick up I was ignored. Staff not pleasant at all. The craving for GOOD Mexican food was strong today. After looking at all the pictures of burritos and nachos, I was set on this place. I ordered take out, though I really look forward to dining in as the staff was very friendly and the place felt welcoming with the aroma of good food in the air. To eat, we had the Cali Super Burrito with carne asada, wet with both red and green sauce. It was stuffed with plenty of meat, which I have to say was so delicious because it was seasoned and cooked with a little char, fries, beans, sour cream, and guacamole. This burrito was HUGE and very filling as it was shared between 4 of us. We also shared the Supreme Nachos with carnitas, which were also tasty and filling with plenty of meat and cheese, beans, and all the toppings. I appreciated the guacamole and sour cream being served on the side so the crispy chips didn't get compromised. I also have to add that the quality of the meat was very good because I did not bite into a single piece of chewy meat or fat. My toddler had the Cheese Enchilada meal that was a perfect portion for her, with a single enchilada, rice and beans. The sauce they use is very flavorful and not spicy. She went to town on her meal, especially loving the beans. I did not have to convince her at all to eat. We also ordered the Chile Relleno plate, which came with a beef enchilada and crunchy taco. I didn't get to try, but it was obviously delicious because the only thing left over were some chips and salsa. The salsas are also very flavorful. I asked for some of their hottest salsa and it was bomb! Got me sweating but didn't spice me out. It had a nice smokey flavor to it that I really liked. Overall, this place has great service, quality food, and presentation. The prices were very reasonable for all the food we got and the portions. So worth it! read more
