So glad we stumbled upon here by accident. We had no idea this was in downtown Upland. The whole place is spacious and they don't play music at a ridiculous volume. We placed our orders and the food came quickly. My son got the ribeye plate which was cooked perfectly. Vanessa was thoughtful enough to put the mushrooms and onions on the side - she read my son right! The oysters are fresh and they put a generous amount of sauces on the side. The mussels were amazing too - my son needed a spoon to slurp all that buttery, briny goodness in the bowl. My Captain's Boil was a huge plate! All sorts of seafood like fish, shrimp, mussels AND scallops were in there. Along with a hefty serving of sausage and cilantro rice (it paired so well with all the seafood). I couldn't finish it because I got so full from our appetizers. This restaurant is an Upland treasure. My son noticed that all the servers were beautiful and bend-over-backwards accommodating. This and the great food plus all the value provided? It only means we're coming back again and again.

Great experience 06/23/2025. My girlfriend and I noticed this spot & thought to check it out. The food tasted amazing & was cooked very well. The service was friendly & the drinks tasted great!. I enjoyed the music playing as it was fitting to the environment along with lighting. I would like to recognize Aaron (the cook) for making a great dinner for my girlfriend and I. Thanks!!

Very cool spot in DT Upland. Im biased when it comes to cuisines from countries that I travel to often so let's get into it. Taco Tuesday and I didn't realize so I sampled all on the menu besides the chicken. Asada - standard Al pastor - im a sucker for fresh pina on top and not mixed in but flavor was ok Fish and the shrimp we highlights and usually those types aren't my thing. To drink I had a couple cantarito's hoping the flavor would match my travels of Jalisco... almost there so im not mad at that. The bartender (I sat at the bar) was very attentive, relatable and cool even though she was super busy running back and forth so even when it seemed she was running through things she kept a good presence! Shout out to her!

Stopped in for dinner and this restaurant was great. We were seated right away, staff were super friendly and welcoming. Bartender made us strong old fashions and whiskey sour. Large selection on their menu, everything looked divine. I went with the salmon, they have option of blackened or grilled. I chose the blackened salmon with the sauces on the side. My salmon came out nice and juicy. The restaurant itself is very classic. Kind of feels like you're in Seattle rather than in Upland. I would recommend this place if you're in the area. Great service great food and great drinks. Parking is a little tricky when it's really busy, but you have to drive around and be patient.

First impressions are so important in everything, especially restaurants. As we entered, there was a man standing at the hostess desk. We walked in happy to try a new place. The man looked at us. Never smiled. Never acknowledged us. Just looked back at the TV screen. Seconds later, a woman greeted us and took us to our table. We asked about cocktail specials. She recommended the hibiscus mezcal and the pineapple mule. We ordered both. Who brought our drinks? None other than the rude man who ignored us as we entered. Turns out, he's the bartender. He arrived at the table as cold and without a smile as when we entered. I had to fain an over exaggerated smile to evoke any reaction from him. The pineapple mule was tasty IF you like ginger beer. The mezcal had a strange aftertaste. I only drank half. Couldn't finish it as I wasn't enjoying it. When the server inquired, I told her that the drink wasn't what I had hoped. There was an awkward hesitation, but no attempt at correcting anything. Not sure why she asked if she wasn't going to offer another option. As we watched the staff, we noticed most (not all) didn't seem happy to be there. The vibe was not at all welcoming. The gentleman who brought our entrees, however, was kind and friendly--their saving grace. I was disappointed with the tacos. Fish taco was over cooked and rubbery. The rice was just plain steamed white rice. Not very impressive for a Mexican-style restaurant. I usually enjoy black beans, but these were just not good. I cant even say what exactly was wrong with them, but like the cocktail, I didn't eat the rice or the beans and I picked out the edible fish and pieces of shrimp and ate them separately as the tortillas were cold and too chewy to eat. On the bright side, the fish and chip plate was delicious! Substituted slaw for extra fries. The breading on the fish was perfectly light and just enough crunch. The tartar sauce was creamy and seasoned just right. I'd go back but only for the fish and chips. Overall, I was so disappointed in my experience. Ended up paying $80 for dinner that was at best, mediocre. Next time, if I'm craving fish and chips, I may stop by for lunch but never again for dinner and drinks.

Tried a place a little out of the way for us, in Upland, but on the way to a comedy show in Ontario. Great little place with a really good menu, tasty dishes and drinks. Would have tried more if we were able to take leftovers, but overall happy with the dishes we tried. Branzino was amazing and nicely prepared with two different sauces. Oysters were huge and as far as we can tell, fresh and the elote was as expected. The cheesecake didn't taste like it was made in house, but the mango sauce on top was and was tasty. Service was friendly enough, for a Friday night so we shall be back.

We went during happy hour to try out their happy hour menu on a Monday. I got a $8 house margarita with salt rim that was very well made and packed a nice punch. I also ordered the chicken nachos that was nicely presented with quality chicken, beans, and guacamole. The interior was nice and clean. The service was good as well. I would return and recommend. It may even be a new hangout spot. We'll see!

They were busy on a Tuesday night. Went to visit Captains Grill with my mom and my husband. They had a taco tuesday specials but missed their happy hour. It was a full house on Tuesday which means their food is good right? We were hungry so ordered too much food. By the time tacos came out we were ready to tap out. Surf and Turf was really good along with their salsa they provide. I was slightly disappointed on the captains boil as it was little small for the price tag it had. But tacos were big portion wise. They have decent selection of alcoholic beverages and food options as well. Parking can get little busy over here considering being located at downtown upland. We ended up parking behind the building and walked over. They also have daily specials. We will definitely return for their fries and tacos.

Found this gem while walking through Downtown Upland and wow! I love it! I would love to come back for dinner but I came by during lunch and still was great. Our server was sweet and suggested a lot of delicious ideas. Of course, I had to get the Clam chowder!!!! Sooooo good and literally ate everything. Do give this place a try!

Food and service was great. The picture I added doesn't do justices. Price is below average and portions are above average!! Keep up the good job!

Decided to give it a try for taco tuesday with $1.99 taco specials for asada, chicken, al pastor, fish and shrimp tacos. We started with the clam chowder bread bowl and it was pretty good. The bread was full of flavor and the clam chowder was pretty tasty. Prices were great for the quality. We had Gione as our server. He did a great job. The ambiance was probably the best part. It is slightly dimmed lighting with tv's around that allow you to enjoy your meal and catch a game too. Loved it so much I can't wait to return . I definitely want to try the mango cheesecake.

I was in Upland for the day shopping with some friends and we decided to check it out. The service was quick and friendly. The interior was nice and clean. I ordered the fish & chips, which in general, is one of my favorite dishes to eat. The batter on what were more like fish fingers was like a layer of fabric, not crispy, and lacked flavor. I had to ask for tartar sauce. The fries were crispier and good, but not great. One friend from Boston said her clam chowder was great and apparently that is a compliment. My other friend had one of their burritos and also enjoyed it. They both had cocktails and said they were good and strong. A HUGE downer was the water. It tasted horrible. Like chemicals. Ugh. I won't be going back.

I walked in on a Friday evening and was surprised there was no line. I was immediately greeted by a woman who took my order, great service from the start. The two women working were doing everything themselves, from taking orders to making the food fresh, and still kept things moving at a very reasonable pace. I ordered the shrimp burrito with light rice and got the chipotle sauce on the side. They also have a CLEAN self serve bar with salsas, cucumbers, and limes, which is always a nice touch. The burrito was huge and so good. My plan was to eat half in the car and save the rest for later... but I ended up sitting in the parking lot and finishing the whole thing. Every bite had perfectly seasoned shrimp, no skimping at all. The interior is clean, minimal, and has plenty of seating. 10/10, definitely recommend.

They would make the small filled to the brim with all the chili cheesy goodness, and the large would just be more of the same so the box would be in danger of toppling over the edge with all of the messy mountain of food. It always seemed worth it because just by looking at it you could tell it was a good amount of food. I wanted to like the Al Pastor fries in the same way. The meat itself was impeccable, with every bite being chock full of pork meat. I think the main problem was it that it needed more fries. You would think the fries would be the easiest to load up a dish like this with, but the layer of fries at the bottom of this container was kind of the thin side. And that led into the next problem, where every bite seemed overflowing with onions. Sauces, cilantro, and meat all were fairly represented. But because there wasn't an appropriate amount of fries, and because the onions were so fresh and strong, that's what I got most of in every bite. It was so bad my eyes were watering from just breathing. And because the proportions were so off, I just don't think this offering is worth the $15 it's priced at. If there was more fries, not only would it have been more filling but all the competing flavors would've blended better. As it is now, I think this is maybe an $11 dish that you might ask for some extra fries to be thrown to get the balance right. The service was good. The employee behind the register explained well what came with the fries and the order got to me pretty fast. The ambience was good, but the space was kind of limited. I wish the dining area was just a bit bigger. I've also never been a fan of food joints without a soda dispenser. Paying $3 for each bottle of Coke is not my idea of inviting. It has the mystique of over-priced concessions at a sporting event. Places that want you there invest in having free refills on soda instead of forcing their patrons to pay for multiple bottles or else go thirsty. As it is, I don't think I'll be back. The pastor is good and I had wanted to try the pastor burrito, but this visit was lackluster so I don't see myself in any hurry to make another trip here.

Since I had some time today, I thought to myself that I should run in and get a couple of tacos before I go get my nails done because I remember the owner's posts from Facebook and I like to support the small businesses of Upland. I go in and it's packed. I was surprised and happy for him to see all the hustle and bustle. I ordered a shrimp taco (not on menu) and a carne asada taco. I have not yet eaten the shrimp taco because the carne asada taco was super filling. It was also very good. I was very happy with it. The owner came around and gave me some chips and those were good too. Not too salty and nice and fresh. I'm a salsa snob and love hot salsas. I ordered the pineapple habanero because it was supposed to be the hottest and also got the red. For me, the pineapple is too sweet to feel hot so I was thankful I got the red because that went perfectly with the chips and the taco. Even with the hustle and bustle, my order didn't take too long. The owner did a great job of going around to clean and make sure customers were well taken care of. Happy I had the time to go in today. Loved the energy and happy for the store and how full it was.
