We dropped off our daughter for college in the area and this may become a regular place for us. In fact, I know it will. The food is definitely 5+ stars!! The food was massive amounts and delicious. I could not even open my mouth wide enough for a bite. Amazing and fresh ingredients. I love onion rings, so seeing them in the Roy Boy hamburger was all I needed to see to know that would be my selection. I really appreciated that they asked for details about whether I would like the bacon crispy. All of that made it perfect for me. H&H is located in a quiet area with shops and other things going on. It seems like a part of town that might be busier in the evenings. There were quite a few people having lunch. There are a few organizational things that might need tending to, but honestly, it's probably just me. I would have liked to see employees helping with seating. It was a pretty warm day so everyone wanted to sit inside. There were 2 young men sitting at a table for 5-6. If I worked there I would have asked them to move to a 2 top table so the waiting family of 5 could have sat at that table. The family of 5 ultimately pushed 2 small tables together and awkwardly sat there juggling the tight space. The setup of the counter could be better thought out. Again, it all seems to need someone coming in to help manage placement and flow. The decorations are eclectic and don't make a lot of sense. I enjoyed the artwork but could not tell if the paintings were for sale or just to admire. There is a lot going on. None of this will keep us away but I hope they tend to some of this to make it a more inviting and comfortable space.
Hen & Heifer is definitely a spot I'll be coming back to! The food was extra fresh, delicious, and very reasonably priced. The chili cheese fries with pastrami are absolutely to die for seriously, a must-try! The service was also great. Our food came out quickly and was brought right to our table, which made the whole experience even better. Great food, good prices, and quick, friendly service. I'll definitely be coming back, and next time I'm bringing a bigger party!
We were in town for a baseball tournament. Had an hour to eat in between games. Had great reviews on Yelp. Decided to give it a try. Stand in line to order. Food delivered to your table. Hands down the best cheeseburger I've had in my life. Better than In and Out! Will definitely come back when we're in the area.
My daughter and I came from Rancho to visit here in Pomona. She said she wanted to have a good burger and for me to find one. There are absolutely none near me. I've done the legwork. It was easy to find and we came in at perfect timing for us because there was only one party ahead of us. I'd like to look at the menu before I go somewhere so I was on the fence between a pork sandwich and I ultimately ended up with the Roy boy. I got onion rings on the side. My daughter got the classic and fries on the side. We both got Mexican cokes we get them everywhere we go. Dario gave us an expensive explanation on any questions we had and a little bit about the history of their business. They also have a second location in the high desert area called Apollo burgers, I believe. He said that one gets voted best burger since it opened. The restaurant was very clean. A rush of other patrons came in right after us. I loved my burger. It was very thick. I added bacon to it, and it was extra crispy just like I love it. I will definitely be recommending. In fact I already have to my manager who lives in Pomona. She will be going soon. She loves burgers.
So happy to have been able to chow down on one of their delectable burgers and fries! I highly recommend Hen and Heifer and am looking forward to the next time I get to stop by there. With comforting food, a relaxed atmosphere, chill staff, and downtown vibes, it's an awesome fast-casual spot in Pomona. The Boss Hog: An easy 5/5. Towering and indulgent, it's an ultra savory burger with all of the best proteins. Slightly messy but not super greasy. Could easily split into two meals. Fresh Cut Belgian Fries: Another easy 5/5. Simple but so delicious. They kept the skins on and were lightly salted. Their enjoyably crispy texture made them extremely addicting. I also appreciated the generous portion! We luckily found free street parking less than a block away from the front of the restaurant. The inside isn't large but feels open due to the layout and high ceiling. The gentlemen on staff that day were patient with us first-timers, and they provided fantastic recs.
What I consumed: - Classic Burger ($9.55) - The Mannimal ($17.53) - Onion Rings ($7.68) - Lil Kim Fries ($14.97) - Hen-Credible Sandwich ($15.50) How it tasted: - The food lingered longer than it should have. Every bite seemed engineered to pull me back in whilst refusing to be forgotten. The Hen-Credible stood apart from the rest--perfectly seasoned, disturbingly good, the kind of sandwich that occupies your thoughts hours later when it has no business doing so. Why five stars? - Something about the place felt disarming. The staff appeared exactly when needed. The service arrived with unnatural precision. The atmosphere was warm enough to lower your guard. The prices offered little reason to resist. Verdict: - I left believing I'd made a simple lunch stop, yet I've been thinking about that Hen-Credible ever since. Go if you want, but don't be surprised when it follows you home.
This place has some seriously huge burgers, and they're absolutely delicious! Great selection of beers to choose from, and the customer service was friendly and welcoming. Good food, good drinks, and a great atmosphere. Definitely a spot I'd come back to!
After arriving in to Hen & Heifer in eclectic downtown Pomona. It has industrial design in the space, but what caught my eye the most was these pop culture paintings on the wall. The staff was nice and gave us the spill on how the food is scratch made and also made to order. I ordered the narcissist burger and the little KIM fries to start the quality of the beef and the burger was excellent was an easy bite with quality ingredients. The little KIM fries were Bulgogi inspired with a very rich sauce with the typical pickle carrots, and radish that goes with a Korean dish. Overall, this was an excellent meal. I would definitely be back.
The food is great pricing is okay too but the salad container needs to be a tad bit bigger so that I can actually add the dressing and actually be able to mix it. Thats all. Beautiful place. The service is good maybe have a different line just to pick up phone orders and not wait in line for 10 minutes just to pay and pick up. Service was good Jasmine was very nice and friendly.
Hen and Heifer, located in Pomona, is a tasty burger spot with a crazy line of fans. We came here during the afternoon and the line was already out the door. There is a small patio section where you can bring your dogs and many people did! Don't pass up on those chili cheese fries they are delicious. The hamburgers were so big, and we ordered three to try one of each. Overall each hamburger had its own personality and we loved it! Can't wait to come back here again. Service was nice and the food was delicious! If you love burgers and fries this is a legit spot.
Ordered take out so can't comment on service. But the burgers!!!!!!!! They were exactly what we were craving when it comes to burgers! Nice char with the flavor full of beef! Definitely a hefty burger and not something to be eating in a modest way! Can't wait to be in this side of the city to try more options!!
It was the first time here and im glad we stopped by. They have a large menu so the person taking our order walked us through their most popular items and made some suggestions. She informed us that it was a "scratch kitchen," which means everything is made in-house and they even do their own butchering. I imagine this is why the wait time is a bit long. From the time we ordered (based on the receipt), to the time we got our food, it was exactly 30 minutes. The restaurant seating area is a decent size. It has a few booths, some high tops, and a few regular tables. They also have an outside patio area with about 4 regular tables. Atmosphere is casual and relaxed. For drinks they have Mexican Coke along with a few other soft drinks. They also offer fresh lemonade, different beers and ciders. For our food we got the Hen-credible sandwich, the Chickenator fries and the Chickenator Melty Melt. Everything was delicious. The Hen-Credibke sandwhich had 2 perfectly fried and crispy chicken strips. They had the right amount of breading and seasoned well. The jalapeño coleslaw was so good and paired nicely with the chicken. It wasn't overly dressed in mayo (or whatever sauce coleslaw has). It wasn't spicy but the jalapeño added a slight, much needed kick. The melt was also very tasty. I got it on a thick sliced sourdough bread. The chicken on this was grilled which is probably a healthier version since the sandwhich is heavy with cheese and sauce. The poblano chili added a different texture and kind of a slight spice to the sandwich. Warning, this is a messy sandwich for sure so make sure you have plenty of napkins. Lastly, the Chickenator fries. These fries were covered in poblano peppers, season chicken breast pieces, cheese and jalapeño dressing. They were tasty, but I think the chicken seasoning wasn't as good as the others. I'm not sure what the seasoning is, but it tasted lime forward to me. Again, they were good, just not as good as the othe things. Overall, this place is a must-try if youre in the area.
Food was amazing here and I am super sad I didn't take any pictures, but it was my birthday so I was focused a little more on just hanging out with the family. I split a narcissist and a boss hog. Both burgers were amazingly delicious. The cheesesteak fries were also amazing - I'll bet their cheese steak sandwich is phenomenal based on the flavors of the cheesesteak fries. I understand they grind their own beef on site as well as use lard for their cooking. It must be that combination which makes their food so flavorful. I'll definitely be back for more even though it's a far drive for me. Hit up this place after the Pomona Swapmeet it's definitely worth a stop. On the downside if you have a large group, it might be difficult to get comfortable seating as there is only one booth that will accommodate more than four or five people comfortably. We had a party of six and one of our group members had to sit at different table nearby. Seating is all first come first served. They do deliver your order to the table but to order and pay you simply go to the counter line. There's a nice outdoor patio with a few tables that could be pulled together potentially for 6 to 8 people. Staff was friendly enough and highlighted my birthday with a sparkling mirror ball table adornment. It was just the perfect touch for not wanting to make a big deal out of my birthday. The menu can be a little overwhelming, since they have so many great combinations of sandwiches, so make sure you review it prior to arriving if you don't want to be rushed into deciding what to order. Looks like they also do band night or something similar as next door and adjacent and connected is a stage for entertainment. The restroom hallway is adorned with band members signatures from all the bands, I'm assuming, that have performed there. Pretty cool!

We tried Hen & Heifer in Pomona and this one was an easy 10/10. I ordered The Narcissist, which is apparently their most popular burger, and I can see why. It comes with two fresh-ground premium beef patties, four slices of cheese, four strips of thick-cut bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and their homemade sauce. It was big, messy in the best way, and absolutely delicious. Shawn went all in with The Mannimal. Instead of a regular bun, it uses two grilled cheese sandwiches with a burger patty, cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onions in the middle. Definitely not a light lunch, but he loved it. We also shared the Belgian-style fries Cajun style. They were crispy on the outside, fluffy inside, full of flavor, and perfect for sharing. One thing that really stood out was the service before we even ordered. The cashier took the time to tell us all about their scratch-made food, explain some of the menu, and give us recommendations. You could tell there was real pride in what they serve. And apparently we weren't the only ones impressed. There was a consistent line of people waiting to order the entire time we were there. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and made with care. If you're craving a serious burger and fries, Hen & Heifer is absolutely worth a stop. 10/10. We would definitely go back. Went to Hen and Heifer before a concert at the Glass House down the street. I heard about it before, specifically some of the larger burgers like the Boss Hog, but I wasn't trying to eat as heavy before a concert. My friends and I got a heavy helping of information from the cashier after he asked if we'd ever been - which none of us had. He went over the menu, assuring us the ingredients were all freshly prepared in-house for the most part. I opted for a lighter (and cheaper) single patty burger - "The Creaminal", which featured a shmear of cream cheese and jalapenos. We also got some fries to share, as we were told an order could be shared between 2-3 people. We got an order of regular sea salted fries, and one order of cajun fries to share between 4 of us. They were right, it was plenty to go around. To start, the burger was good but nothing too extraordinary - especially given the lengthy preamble. But there was definitely some house made quality - and I definitely want to come back and try another burger option. So why give a 4/5 stars? THE FRIES. We were told the fries were fried in beef tallow which piqued our interest. It was immediately apparent that the fries were above average in flavor. I don't think I could stop talking about them for like 4 days. Out of the two, I really liked the seal salt better, but the cajun were also great. I enjoyed how the cajun had plenty kick to it without being overpowering with spice coverage. Even more than the other burgers, I really want to try some chili cheese fries next time I visit. Though, I'm weary it might be trying to fix something that's not broken. The vibe of the restaurant was super chill, order at the counter, can/bottle drinks only, everything sold seperately. It's a little pricey overall, but again there's a lot of in-house ingredient preparation (meat cuts, sauces, etc.). Next time in the area I plan to check it out again and see if I can find a sandwich/burger that can match the flavor of the fries. read more

Hen & Heifer is a great spot for a good burger! The meat was flavorful and cooked just right, while the fries and fried zucchini were crispy, fresh, and delicious. I was excited to try this place based on all the fantastic reviews. I got the Hen- Credible, and some fries. The fries were very good. I had high hopes for my sandwich. The chicken was dry. I also read great reviews on service. The table we sat at had crumbs on it. You order at the counter and then someone did bring the food out. They also have no soda machine which is very disappointing. I ordered one of their beers on tap it was $10 which is a bit excessive to me. Also by the end of my meal I was sweating because it was very hot inside. I don't think I'll eat here again. read more

Adrian cook Nazareth So we stumbled upon this place coming back from a reptile show in Pamona. The location is a nice corner spot with outdoor seating. The inside seating area is well lit with nice artwork on the walls. Nazareth took our order to perfection and kept us entertained. The wait for the food wasn't too long being that we had some special request. Adrian was the one who cooked our food and aced it. This was our first time here and the food was not only hot but ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. I got the Pastrami Nation (a lot of food) and my wife got the regular hamburger and chili cheese fries. My only issue was the female server and the male that brought our food. It's not worth going into and not worth giving them less than 5 stars. Our cook, Adrain, even came out to see how our food was. This is amazing customer service, for us. We would absolutely recommend them and come back to eat again. We're from San Diego so you know if we're willing to make the drive, the food is worth it. read more

Came here Sunday after church with some friends. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the specialty chicken sandwich and it's a hefty portion. Chicken was seasoned well and I enjoyed the slaw. Another person in our group had the pastrami fries and seemed to like. My husband did one of the burgers and said it was really good. This is not a full service restaurant but the manager and cashier came to check on us and invite us back. Loved the wall decor/art. read more
Since we were both craving for burgers, we decided to check out this restaurant in downtown Pomona. One thing I noticed right away was that there were lots of locals dining here, which is always a good sign.We ordered the Narcissist Burger and the Creaminal Burger. The Creaminal may not be the most popular choice, but I wanted to try it because of the combination of cream cheese and jalapeños. I'm glad I did because it was delicious. The burger patty was cooked to a perfect medium, juicy, and satisfying.The restaurant itself has a cool industrial loft-style atmosphere, featuring exposed brick walls decorated with artwork and paintings. The overall vibe was relaxed and welcoming. We've been tempted by Hen & Heifer for quite sometime. Once they announced that they were serving beer, my husband came to me and said "It is time..." We went in on a Saturday night at about 7pm. The nearby Glasshouse had a line down the street, and downtown Pomona was abuzz. So they were quite busy. I ordered two sliders medium well, and my husband ordered the Blue Bacon Burger, as he does whenever there is one. One of my sliders was very, very rare, I let a staff member know, and wit no hesitation they remade it very quickly. It's a busy Saturday, these things happen and they fixed it promptly. Now for my husbands Blue Bacon Burger. He LOVED this burger "10/10, no notes" he raved about it. He said it's might be the best he's ever had. And the fries, friends and neighbors let me tell you about the fries. They took me back to my childhood when my Abuelita would make fresh fries from scratch. These were absolutely not frozen and seasoned just perfectly. And one side is more than enough for 2 people. I was really excited to try Hen & Heifer after seeing all the great reviews and photos of the food. Unfortunately, my experience was incredibly disappointing. I paid $41 for my meal, only for my order to be made incorrectly not once, but twice. Before ordering, I even confirmed my modifications with the cashier, and she assured me everything was entered correctly. My receipt also reflected the changes I requested, yet the kitchen still failed to follow the instructions. I do want to recognize Sophia and the young man working the front. They were both kind, professional, and did their best to help. My issue is with the kitchen staff. Getting an order wrong twice is unacceptable, and to make matters worse, the replacement burger was served cold. Overall, it was a frustrating experience, especially considering the price. I hate leaving negative reviews, but I expected much better based on the reputation of this place. Unfortunately, I won't be back. Update I just looked at my salad and the avocado is missing! I haven't met a menu choice I haven't loved yet! Not gonna lie, this isn't the place to go if you're in a hurry, service is slower BUT... aid gladly take it since everything is fresh and made to order. So much unique artwork and I just love coming!! read more
We enjoyed our time at this mom n pop type shop located in the art district of Pomona. Husby got the burger and I got the chicken pita. The items were super fresh and full of flavor. Seating is order at the front and seat yourself. There are plenty of large booths and high top or low top tables. Pro tip: get one order of fries between two people. They're huge and even spill out into the tray! Their drink situation is bottled water, Topo Chico and Jarritos. No fountain drinks. read more

OMG... visiting the daughter in Pomona and she wanted to go out for lunch. I did a super quick Yelp search and this looked good. it was in a less savory part of town with quite a few empty buildings. Yet the town was adorable (so much potential here!) it was tucked in between a music venue and a record store. the food was amazing! there was a line to order but the food came out pretty quick. The QR code menu has more items than the displayed menu so check that out. daughter and i both got chicken strips that came with fries. it came with 2 good sized strips on a bed of fries (we should have shared it but we were quite happy to have leftovers) hubby had a chicken sandwich which he loved! they had some amazing looking burgers on the menu so we need to come back again. everything is cooked in beef tallow here and butchered/marinated in house. The burgers are not only creative and mouthwateringly good, best of all they are HUGE!!!! ...so the fun never ends. The hostess was great! She took her time to point out the most popular burgers on the menu and was patient while I pulled up the Yelp picture of the one that had caught my eye. Yeah, I'm that girl! The ambiance was super chill and vintage. I loved the location cute downtown Pomona. I got the chance to watch rock band setting up next door and thought how cool it is to listen to live music and after an amazing show walk next door for a great burger! Craving a burger and decided to check out Hen & Heifer in Pomona. We came in on a Monday afternoon so it wasn't too busy. Kenny rang us up and was very attentive and polite. We decided to split The Boss Hog. It had 2 patties and pastrami. Definitely enough to share! We also got chili cheese fries and a 5 piece zucchini. The chili fries were delicious I love that it had enough chili for all of the fries they definitely didn't skimp on anything. The fried zucchini was awesome!! They're thinly sliced so they are nice and crunchy instead of being thick and slimey. We also got a chance to try the fresh lemonade and it was made to perfection! The food came out hot and fresh. They have a cute outdoor area to eat at. We sat outside and enjoyed our late lunch for the day. If you're in the area and craving a burger check this place out. Hi! Is there A/C?
Yes and we just installed 5 wall fans yesterday, with that said the building is old and isn't the best at keeping the cold in. I suggest coming in the evening or before 4 if you run hot.
Are the fried chicken sandwiches fried in beef fat ? Can you order fries not fried in beef fat?
No not yet we are working on setting up another fryer to accommodate our customers.
Are they serving beer yet?
We have our license and are setting up vendors and should be ready by next week!
Any gluten free options?
They offer lettuce wrap any burger. The chicken tenders are gluten free. They bread the chicken tenders in flour (in rice flour and potato starch)
Would you be able to share what kind of oil is used to fry? (Allergies) thank you. 🙏🏾
Hi they currently use canola oil but they did say that they want to offer Tallow not sure when though. They toast the buns with Tallow.
Is there egg involved in the preparation for the tenders (egg allergy but traces are ok)?
No eggs at all. Rice flour, potato starch and buttermilk.
