We came on a weekend and it was super busy (as it should be honestly with how amazing the food and service are). We got the blackened salmon with penne pasta and baby potatoes, and the flat iron steak with bow tie pasta and herb brown rice. The steak was cooked perfectly medium. The bow tie pasta is served cold and has a vinegary flavor to it, definitely a distinct taste, but I personally loved it because I enjoy sour/vinegary flavors. I can see why it might not be everyone's favorite though, but I personally really enjoyed it. The salmon was also super flavorful and cooked perfectly. Same with the penne pasta and potatoes. Honestly everything was just made really well and good. For the sauce, we got their popular jalapeno garlic sauce and it paired well with absolutely everything. At a recent Yelp event, we had Dr. Grubbs catering. We were offered a complimentary meal from the manager at the event, so my friend and I recently came by to redeem our meal after a long morning hike. We found the restaurant pretty easily, but parking is another issue. I guess it doesn't help that we came on a Sunday when we were competing with patrons of the Claremont farmers market down the street. The restaurant is spacious with plenty of seating indoors and out. The menu is pretty simple: pick a protein, a side (or 1/2 and 1/2) and a house made sauce. I LOVE that the prices were fair and portions were good - I'm sure the local college kids appreciate that too. They also offer a variety of beer and wine. Self serve fountain drinks are available for purchase or with a meal. My friend got the grilled shrimp with vegetables and penne pasta, and I got the blackened shrimp with vegetables and brown rice. I got the jalapeño garlic sauce with my meal. The shrimp arrives with 6 shrimp on a skewer. It was a lot of food, half of which I ended up taking home. There's plenty of indoor seating at high tops, lower tables, at the bar, or bench/table combo seating. However, it was such a beautiful day that we decided to enjoy our lunches out on their patio. There's music playing both inside and out. Everything was clean. One orders at the counter as you walk in the doors. It's self serve for your drinks (iced tea, sodas, water). Take your number and find your table.
