My friend had the Mike's Favorite and said for the price it was very full and had a lot going on. He liked the quality of ingredients! I also agree that they're very generous with the portions The caramel latte was very sweet, but still good :) The last times I had come here during COVID era, the owners were very sociable and friendly! Local deli ... tried out for the first time and ordered the Italian on sourdough.... Oddly the edges were cut off for some reason and lightly toasted . It was a good basic sandwich. Sadly it wasn't anything special but it was good , just not memorable. Service was great and he was super nice and answered my questions and suggested the popular sandwiches. Stumbled on this place while strolling through the farmers' market. This is literally a hole in the wall; it's easy to miss, but I'm all for supporting small businesses. I ordered the Warrior sandwich and iced spiced chai for myself and an iced Vietnamese coffee for my partner. There were a couple of parties ahead of us, but I don't think we waited for more than 5 minutes for our items to come out. The sandwich had everything I wanted in a sandwich, so it tasted delicious; I especially liked the banana peppers and Italian dressing as it cut through the saltiness. We also enjoyed both our drinks. I enjoyed that my chai was truly spiced vs. watered out or overly sugary. According to Yelp this is a "hidden gem" so I believed it. The staff was very nice, place was muggy but otherwise fine. I ordered the avocado toast + added eggs to it, and a hot oatmilk latte. I know very well what a non-dairy latte taste like. I definitely did not get an oatmilk latte. It absolutely has regular milk, I couldn't even drink it. Outside of that, my avocado toast was unfortunately pretty sad. I'm no chef, but usually an avocado toast focuses on having actual avocado. This one barely had a couple slices of avocado, and to top it off it looked like it wasn't fresh, and perfectly paired with soggy tomato. Plus, it wasn't cheap $23 for this sad avocado toast & latte that I can't even drink. Such a waste of time, money and for me a disappointment. Kind service. Small tucked away little sandwich shop. Good sandwiches. Nothing special, in so much as an average person can easily make in their home, but they're still good. I had the California and my girlfriend had the Vegan out. They tasted good, but they tasted exactly like what was put in them. Nothing more, nothing less. The bread looked and tasted like white bread, and it's supposed to be sourdough, so I guess it's a different version of it. All in all, nobody will be let down by this nice place. I waited about 10 mins before anyone realized I was there as both employees were in the back. I ordered the california that had turkey and avocado along with a green tea and can soda. It's a cute little shop tucked away in one of the quieter corners of DT Claremont, which is a good thing given how busy that area is nowadays. Seating is limited but there is a table and some benches outside and a couple tables inside. I was impressed with both the pumpkin spice latte and the iced hazelnut latte. Very yummy. The Mike's favorite sandwichwas great and I would highly recommend trying one of the breakfast sandwiches that come on a bagel. The double decker was delish! I was in the area and wanted to find a quick place for breakfast and coffee. For parking, there is plenty of street parking in the front of the shop. The actual store is small on the inside with limited seats and you'll probably won't find seating if it's busy. This little spot is a nice old-time feel within the Claremont Village. Very pleasant staff with efficient service- especially during the lunchtime rush. All the food and sandwiches we had here were fresh and delightful in taste. I especially love that they offer alfalfa sprouts on sandwiches. They boast an expansive menu fit to meet nearly anyone's mealtime preferences. From sandwiches, muffins, and cookies to tea, coffee, and smoothies. Their Pina Colada smoothie was DELICIOUS! Also highly recommend their vegan out sandwich on squaw bread ($12) and/or their chicken salad delight sandwich ($15). You just can't go wrong! She needed to take her medication, so I ran into this cafe asking for a small amount of water in a cup. The cashier said water wasn't free and refused to give me a cup. This Review is ONLY for coffee. Not for sandwiches or any other pastries. We stopped by to grab a latte on our lazy Saturday afternoon stroll in the beautiful Claremont. Whenever we try a new coffee shop, we usually order one regular latte and one flavored. The reason for that is just in case the flavored one is terrible, the regular one could be our safety net/ or backup. However, at this place, I was surprised to find out that our safety net was just a watered down overpriced latte. The latte was lukewarm, which is really disappointing and it didn't taste like a latte at all. The place does not offer oat milk, whole milk, nor soy milk... they only have... 2% nonfat milk... I am a whole milk person, so can't say if it was the 2% that made the latte taste like a water down latte or it's just a bad latte... Our adventurous pick - Mint Mocha Latte was surprising yummy! We end up fighting for it and I basically have one bad sip of the regular and another good sip of the flavored latte to balance it out. However, we had fun doing it and I guess that's all that mattered. Oh, knocking one star off because this place CHARGE 4% for using a credit card! Oh Guac!!! I understand its small business but seriously 4% when a cup of Joe only cost about 4 dollars? What a great experience! Me and my wife has passed by this place so many times in the last 6 years, but finally found a chance to give it a try! Illy Coffee, delicious sandwiches, says it all!
