I am shocked at how awful of an experience I had, I went on a Tuesday where they have the buy one get one 50% off deal. It is my first time ordering here, and I had questions about the milk, sugar level of the drink. The cashier was unfriendly while taking my order. When I saw that there was an unknown extra 83 cents charge on my order and asked about it, the two workers side eyed each other in front of me while looking annoyed. It made me feel awful, so I just ended up paying extra for the drinks. Once I got my drinks, I was met with a stare when I said thank you. After leaving the cafe, I realized that my drinks were made with more than half with ice (photo attached below). For the amount of drink I received, the extra charge on my drinks, and the attitude of the workers, I am extremely disappointed with my experience here at The Spot Cafe. I ordered a grilled cheese panini during the lunch rush. I get that it's busy and that I'd have to wait a while so I sat and patiently waited for over 20 minutes. You'd think a grilled cheese panini would have melted cheese AND that the bread would be toasted, right? When I unwrapped that bad boy, not only was the bread not toasted, pressed, or warm...but the cheese was barely melted. It honestly seemed like the employee put cheese in between bread and stuck it in the microwave for a few seconds to "melt" the cheese. I work around the area and tried to find a place to study and eat, there's 4 chairs inside, and there were outdoor benches with no shading, and it is currently really hot. They started making it and then another customer came in they helped that customer place an order and filled their order before mine. I had never experienced that at The Spot before. I've tried many things at The Spot Cafe since moving to Claremont. I've done the meal plan, and go into the store semi-regularly. If I could, I would give it 3/5 stars. I have a pretty good idea what to expect, so here are... The pros: First, the meals are tasty and healthy. That is one of the top compliments I can give; most dining out feels so greasy and heavy, but this really doesn't. Second, they have options for all. I am a pescatarian by choice, and wheat-free by allergy, and there are plenty of choice for me. That's a big deal. The prices are generally pretty good, and the sizes are wonderful. The breakfast and lunch meal plan is a real winner, and I would highly suggest it if you are considering (or already doing) a meal kit service. If you go in person, the freshly made food definitely tastes better. The food, itself, is mid. It is good enough, and worth eating again, but it doesn't blow me away. I've tried probably 1/3 of the menu at this point, and that is my general assessment. The cons: The meal kit service has been wildly inconsistent. When I was getting it, I would get wrong things on my order all the time. Some of the stuff would be bad WAY before the meal plan ending, despite use of proper refrigeration. In-store, the wait is pretty grueling at times. Some people working the register are aloof, but there is a cook who is very personable. There is very little space to eat inside, making it more of a fair weather place. All in all, this place is "Okay" and I will come back sometimes. read more

Also, the menu didn't list that it has cheese and also, I think the Tandoori potatoes are sweet potatoes, so that was a surprise, since I was expecting regular potatoes. On the upside, the bowl is DELICIOUS, despite the yellowed kale. I've never had tandoori anything and the potatoes were yummy, despite my expecting regular potatoes. I'd just say make these minor tweaks and you could potentially be 5 star. If you haven't tried the antioxidant salad or the crazy good honey goat cheese salad then you are missing out. These salads are well made paired with the salad dressing makes these salads not only delicious, but a joy to eat. I wish they sold the honey goat salad dressing by the bottle. If you ever do, please add this option to Postmates. This is such a great salad dressing. I typically order a large and split it into two meals. The female who took my order seemed to be over it for the day. I don't take things personally and I understand wanting to end your work day but having a crappy attitude will keep customers away. The sandwich I ordered has the options of chips or fruit on the menu- I was given no option but to grab a bag of chips. It was my partner's first time here and she mentioned to the cafe worker what she recommended since it was her first time there, her response was, let me know when you're ready. I pointed out recommendations. She decided on a pizza and let me tell you the pizza is a joke. A tortilla with sauce and cheese and sliced tomatoes. We decided to stay and eat our meal. 20 mins till closing and the music turns off and the sound of pans are heard slamming in to the sink as if to make it obvious that closing time is nearing. I wrapped up my sandwich and left. Restaurant staff should be welcoming and thankful for the business brought to them. Today after my Trader Joe run, I decided to swing thru and try out a smoothie. I got their Pitaya Power and man, if you could put OB&J into a smoothie, this would be it! Every time you enter this place, you're hit with a wall of burned small, likely due to poor ventilation, and it hangs with you for the rest of the day. But worse, it's very hard to get anything. They move slowly. Run out a lot. I've walked out before. The most recent visit saw me walk out with an over $9 iced coffee. Yes it was the size of a bucket, but it was super watered down out of the gates and piled with ice that quickly turned it even worse. Service was super friendly and they have a selection of "Healthy Smoothies" for me to choose from after my work out. I decided on the Pitaya Power healthy smoothie. It has apple juice, peanut butter, pitaya, banana and blueberries. It is SO DELICIOUS!! Completely addicting!! It was sweet, fruity, refreshing and still creamy from the peanut butter. Yummy!!!!!!!
