What a great find! We visited Maniac Mike's Café after our morning walk, and it was such a wonderful experience. First of all, the view is amazing. Watching the planes take off and land while enjoying breakfast made the whole experience unique and entertaining. You definitely won't get bored here. The food was delicious, freshly made, and surprisingly affordable for the quality and portion sizes. It's not always easy to find a place that offers both great food and great value. What stood out the most was the staff. Everyone was so welcoming, friendly, and attentive, which made us feel right at home. This was our first time visiting this location, and unfortunately, it was an extremely disturbing experience. We ordered a burrito and decided to split the meal. I had taken a few bites and initially thought the food tasted good. However, during one of my bites, I suddenly felt something extremely hard inside the burrito. I immediately pulled away from the bite and inspected the food. To my shock, there was an actual blade inside my burrito. I immediately brought the food and the blade to the waitress and informed her of what I had found. She began screaming hysterically, which was very embarrassing and drew the attention of other guests, who started asking what had happened. I explained that there was a blade inside my food. At that point, I was no longer interested in eating or continuing with breakfast. The waitress asked for my contact information so that the owner could reach out to me. Which he hasn't. I asked for the bill, but she told me not to worry about it. I am extremely grateful that I pulled away when I felt the object and that nothing more serious happened. However, this could have resulted in a severe injury to my mouth, teeth. The fact that a blade ended up inside a prepared meal is an extremely serious food-safety issue and should never happen. read more

The only real positive about this place is its location next to the airport..... you get a view of the planes taking off and landing. UNFORTUNATELY , the rest of the experience was extremely disappointing and frustrating. We were told the wait would be about 45 minutes, but it ended up being over an hour and a half of standing outside in the sun. If the wait is going to be that long, just be honest about it so people can decide whether it's worth staying. After we were finally seated, it still took another 30 minutes after ordering for our food to arrive. We also noticed that after our server initially took our order, they never came back. It seemed like another server took over without anyone letting us know, which made the experience feel disorganized and poorly communicated. I can't eat shellfish, so I asked if the shrimp in the burrito could be substituted with fish. After checking, our server came back and said they couldn't make the substitution. That didn't make much sense since I was able to order fish tacos made with the same fish. When the food finally arrived, it wasn't worth the wait. The fish in the tacos was dry, rubbery, and overcooked, and the portions were much smaller than expected. The food looks great on the plate, but the flavor doesn't match the presentation. Overall, this place was a disappointment. Between the inaccurate wait time, slow service, poor communication, and mediocre food, we won't be coming back. We'll stick with Molly's Souper. read more

This restaurant is literally located at the airport so you get to watch all the planes come in and come out. Which is exactly what we did after my daughter's flight. So the ambience is great and it is probably going to be a tradition after every single one of her flights to eat here before we leave. The clam chowder was less "soup" and more "wallpaper paste auditioning for a sauce role." Bloody Mary was fine--fine like "I've had worse at a dive bar at 10 AM," which, to be fair, is exactly where we are. If I come back, I'd stick to simple stuff like burgers or pancakes. Then again, I tried the burger: overcooked patty, harder than a Cessna's landing on a windy day. So maybe I'll just bring a granola bar. Service: Super friendly and attentive. They probably noticed the look of betrayal on my face after that first salty bite and tried to save the meal with a warm smile. Honestly? It almost worked. Vibe: Let's be real--you're not here for the food. You're here to watch tiny propeller planes buzz around like metal mosquitoes while you eat. And that part is genuinely fun. There's something magical about sipping a mediocre Bloody Mary while a Cessna takes off for the 12th time today. Our son just turned 3 and did not understand why his food did not come with everyone else. Asked the server 3 times and she said she could not do anything. Maniac Mikes is such a fun and unique restaurant because it's right at the Cable Airport, so you can eat your eggs and watch planes go by. I came here with my husband on a whim and we decided to try it out and have some breakfast. If you come on the weekends it does get pretty busy so we had a bit of a wait. It's not too bad though because you can watch all the little planes go by at the airport here and it was a lot of fun! They have inside and outside seating. I wanted outside, but it was going to be a longer wait so we sat inside. It's not crazy big inside, but still a decent size. Our server was friendly and our food came out in a decent amount of time and tasted good. It was pretty basic breakfast. I got the bacon and eggs with hashbrowns and we also got biscuits and gravy to share. My husband got a waffle with a side of scrambled eggs and bacon. We've only been the one time, but I've been wanting to come again and hopefully sit outside this time because I love watching the runway. First time and last time at this place. Seen this restaurant advertised on social media so we decided to try it. . It took approximately 40 minutes to receive our food. We chose to eat indoors which was a mistake. It was super loud with the acoustics walls and 3 girls drinking mimosas drinks. While we waited we were hoping the food would be a hit. We went in yesterday and had about a 20-minute wait, not a big deal at all. We asked to be seated inside as outside was very busy and the wait for outside was longer. We both had the Controller which consists of biscuits, gravy, 2 eggs and 2 sausage or bacon. We had the bacon (sausage has the encasing) the gravy was sorta cold so they warmed up more and brought it out for us. The biscuits were fluffy and square VERY, very filling and the bacon was nice and crisp. I had a side stack of pancakes that were divine. My friend said the Orange Juice was fresh and my decaf Coffee was tasty. They do have a sign at the register right now that lets you know the prices have increased due to the cost of eggs. Just FYI. Hi all, I called Maniac-Mikes Cafe and spoke to Charlie. She explained that Manny, the owner is aware of the problem and is trying to resolve it. He doesn't have the right computer system to accept the gift cards but wants to honor them. At the moment they can't take it until he gets everything taken care of which he is working on. They will honor them, just can't right now, it's going to take a bit. So they'll be honoring them in the future just we don't know if the future will be next week or a couple weeks. Whoever came up with the airport cafe idea is a splendid individual. It's almost like stepping onto a golf course and enjoying the tranquility. Visited with some friends for breakfast. The cafe is in the second building from the parking lot entrance closest to the planes. My friend saved a table for all of us indoors while the patio had a bit of a wait. Great staff & great service! We enjoyed our time here laughing, singing and savoring our entrees. Watching the planes land or take off is soothing. There's also some tables right next to the strip to get those perfect pictures. There's two parking lot areas one is right as you enter and the other is a little further back between the two main buildings. A unique breakfast experience. I truly love this spot! We have been coming here for a year with our son and he loves it! The environment is really nice. Not that my kids use iPads but your kid shouldn't need one here haha During the week there is no wait and on the weekend you'll wait no more than an hour. I've had a few different servers and my Lord Charli is awful. She has messed up our orders every time we go. Then she fixes it and we are all done with our food. The times we've had her other servers have to help or we just ask other servers because Charli is struggling!!! I met a couple of cool and fun friends here for a last breakfast before I will be gone for a couple of months. We had such a great time here! I was also glad to finally come back here after such a long absence of visiting as I had last been here with an older friend that passed away. Our server was outstanding! I ended up ordering a coffee and a chili cheese omelette with double cottage cheese as the sides. My omelette was excellent and had great flavor! My friends and I shared our meals a bit. So I was able to have a couple bites of French toast, biscuits & gravy, sausage, bacon, and tator tots. It's always great to share and try as much as you can. After our wonderful meal, we went outside the restaurant patio and watched some of the planes Take-off and land. This was such a great time here! 12/1/24 Surprisingly amazing food, service & ambiance!!! Hidden gem until I blew the lid... Met up with special & dear friends here at around 10:30 Saturday. I never knew this existed & it came highly recommended. I arrived late and Tina, our friendly & lovely server, greeted me warmly. Ordered a cuppa Joe--not bad at all! Got me a Denver omelette which complimented well with my 2 sides--tater tots, biscuit & gravy. I was not about to pass up on these two!! My friends ordered a chili omelette & (forgot the name of the combo) basic. over easy eggs, bacon, sausage & also biscuit & gravy. I ordered french toast to share. The vibe is simple, warm, accommodating. The staff certainly look happy to work there & show great teamwork. Tina made sure to check up on us regularly, so did her teammates. I can see myself being a regular here! Our food arrived shortly and everything was just delicious. The tots were crispy, the gravy was flavorful & so is my omelette. I couldn't finish it so I took the rest home for Hubby and he was impressed. He really loved it, too. Highly recommend this little place which is situated at Cable Airport. Plenty of free parking. This place is special. If this was in Los Angeles, you'd pay an arm and a leg for the novelty of being able to sit and eat while watching planes land and take off around every 5 minutes. But since this is outside of L.A. and an actual cafe at an actual small airport that real pilots use to stop by for a quick bite, the prices are reasonable, the food is decent, and it isn't swarming with crowds. In fact, if I hadn't come across a YouTube video about this place by an Upland native, I wouldn't have ever even known about it since it is a little out of the way. But that's also what prevents it from being so touristy. So even at the risk of making this place more touristy and crowded by praising it and telling people it's worth checking out, I'm doing just that. read more

So whats going on here? I use to love this place, i took my Mom to celebrate her birthday, Waited 30 mins before drink order was even taken. Waitress was really rude and not welcoming at all. Waited another 40 mins to get our food served. Food quality was not great also. This is my 3rd visit where its been really bad and i might just never go back, I'm hoping after this feed back manager follows up and fixes these issues, I love the little location, so please refocus in properly training your employees and i would be more than happy to come back. The food was good. They don't carry the hot sauce I like. We had to ask for butter for the toast they didn't really butter it when they served it. At the end of the meal, I asked to pour a glass of water and I never received it. The highlight of the meal was kicking back with my friends, watching the planes, taking off and landing. I had good conversations with my friends. all in all, I would eat there again because the food was good.
