I had Easter brunch here and dinner last night. Wow, great place, good food, good service. The music was great. I intend to go back, especially on a Wednesday night to hear the same group. I will be back @

Solid 3.5 Stars First visit to this wine bar serving American and Italian flavored dishes. Clean, modern décor, but the walls seemed a little bare giving it a cold vibe. Plenty of parking in a private lot. Their website says they have live music, but none during our visit. Sydney waited on us, and the service was excellent (5 stars). DRINK: They're labeled on Yelp as a "Wine Bar", but they also have craft beers, and wine/beer based mixed drinks. There's a decent selection of wines, nothing too out of the ordinary (La Crema, Daou, Michael David, Opolo, BV, Austin Hope, Caymus, etc.) and a couple French, Italian, and Napa sparkling wines. I will admit, we are wine snobs. Our complaint is that they only have red and white wine glasses, instead of using the proper style glass for the specific wine being poured (Burgundy, Bordeaux, flute, etc.). Not the end of the world, but noteworthy. FOOD: Received a complimentary basket of warm bread with a slightly spicy dipping oil. We had been to another event, so we just ordered a couple appetizers. Tried the Roasted Garlic Shrimp ($22.50) with toasted bread (5 medium shrimp with a super flavorful sauce), and a Savory Baked Brea ($21) with toasted bread (a lot of garlic, but I liked it. They also have a "sweet" option). We finished off the evening with the Butter Cake ($14 + $3 for a la mode), which is one of the better ones we've had. Overall, our experience was okay, but I would give them another try, especially for something more substantial off the menu. Worth checking out.

My husband and I had such a wonderful experience here at Magnolia Bistro! The dining options we made were excellent and I would HUGHLY recommend the Shrimp appetizer, it was 10/10! We also shared a wedge salad and it was perfect amounts of everything. Definitely coming back to enjoy again! The sangria was fresh and fruity!

CHEF IS AMAZING! The burger is a masterpiece with the sauce and fries. Family favorite and very welcoming. Love the music and atmosphere.

So I went in Solo on Sunday... one server who was also the Bartender. Although I did see the Owner sitting at the Bar and he actually got behind the bar at one time but I think he was chatting with some guests that he knew that had came in. When I first came in the server told me to sit at a round table right under/beside the bar (WTS?) there were plenty of other tables... closer to the TV's and she also suggested I sit at the Bar too but I was sorta like WTH do I need to sit at the table directly cozied up under the bar??? LOL I'll start off by saying the bread bowl (especially the Squaw) is delicious and my Omelet was tasty as well. They only have 2 items on the menu that is considered traditional "Breakfast ala Brunch" items. Service was slow but as I spoke with the Server she explained that is never busy on Sundays and it was unusual for it to be as it was that day. Apparently we all came in at the same time... it didn't look that way to me but we probably (5) tables came in staggered 10 -15 minutes a part which can seem all at once when there is only one server. Parking is directly in front of the restaurant. This is the 3rd owner I believe in this spot and they have torn down a wall and enlarged the seating, not much of the homey chic design décor that was there before nor the items to purchase but I believe they will be doing so soon. Also they have quite an extensive live entertainment calendar which will be great for those that are into listening to bands during their meals... I wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for a place to catch up with friends and conversations heard - the acoustics here aren't made for that. Respectfully Reviewed

Took the wife out on a rare date night to a home town spot. Both of us couldn't believe how great it was here. We have really missed out on this place ! Our dinner was amazing , and we will be going back soon to try more. We tried three appetizers , bruschetta , Brie (sweet) , and the the shrimp dish. All of them were excellent and flavor full. The pasta dish with steak medallions literally blew us out of the water , unbelievable flavor and cooked perfectly Al Dente. Nice work Magnolia on your presentation and thanks for a great service and dinner!

"Warm" pumpkin cake (but it was actually cold)

I am reviewing again since this establishment has changed a bit and is now a bistro (rather than a wine bar) and is now under new ownership. I came here for my birthday in November. Lets do the good the first! They take reservations, yay! No need to wait with the dinner rush if you're organized enough. They also have live entertainment which adds for great ambiance. Although no longer exclusively a wine bar, they still have a decent wine list. And most importantly the food was impressive (except for dessert, I'll come back to that). I ordered the halibut which was one of the best seafood meals I've had in a long time. Now for the bad. They tore down one of the walls which used to section off a private room with another bar in that room. Now it's one big open space, and they have TVs anchored above the bar in what used to be the separate room, airing football games. The football games airing during dinner kind of kill the ambience and fine dining vibe. The games also compete with the live entertainment. I would prefer the TVs off. And then the track lighting is a bit extreme. It's very reminiscent of an interrogation room or hospital operating room. Is there a dimmer? No one looks good in lighting and it's not relaxing. And back to dessert. We ordered "warm" pumpkin cake, but there was nothing warm about it. In fact, it was just as cold as the ice cream it was served with. And that ice cream was fantastic! Will I come back--I hope so. Maybe I will test it out for brunch and the TVs will be off.

    Breakfast was served!

So happy to get a chance to have brunch here. Because we reserved online we received a bottle of champagne . It is buffet style, but they offered great dishes! Loved the quiche! Everything was delicious! Customer service was warm and welcoming. Can't wait to come back:)

It's our first time here, and as locals, we chose this spot to celebrate my boyfriend's new car. The atmosphere is fantastic--everyone is polite and friendly, creating a warm and welcoming vibe. A special shoutout to our server, Diane, who was incredibly attentive and ensured we were well taken care of throughout our entire dinner. The live music adds to the relaxed, mellow ambiance, perfect for people like us in our mid-30s

I came here specifically for the short ribs, so I was a little disappointed when our server, Diane, informed us they weren't available. That said, the experience overall was pretty good. The atmosphere is lovely--classy yet cozy--and the menu offers a great variety of options. They also have an impressive wine selection. Since the short ribs weren't available, I went with Diane's recommendation and tried the capellini. It was delicious, although I'm pretty sure it has black olives, not kalamata olives. I also ordered the house bread, which was nice, but I do think it should be complimentary, like at many nice restaurants. My sister ordered the wedge salad and bruschetta, and she really enjoyed both. Diane, our server, was incredibly sweet and attentive, which made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back--hopefully next time I'll get to try those short ribs!

It is a smaller venue, so I highly recommend making reservations if you want guaranteed seating because once the live music starts, the place fills up FAST. But every single time I go, it's always a great experience. One thing I truly love most about this spot is how it naturally brings people together. I've met new friends just by sitting, chatting, and enjoying the music and wine. It's such a positive and inviting environment. If you're ever in the area, I definitely recommend stopping by and showing support. I came alone to enjoy a quiet evening and try their wines, drawn in by the strong Yelp reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was uneven. I arrived without a reservation on a busy Saturday night and was initially told there were no tables available. Thankfully, another patron kindly offered me their extra small side table allowing me to stay - but I watched several groups get turned away at the door. Moral of the story: make a reservation. This place seems much better suited for larger groups, events, or celebrations than for solo visitors. Service felt stretched thin. The staff were pleasant but clearly affected service - they could definitely use more help on busy evenings. When I asked about a wine flight, I was told they were too busy to prepare one. Five to ten minutes later, I watched another table receive flights without issue, which was disappointing and made me feel overlooked as a single patron. I ended up chatting with a nearby group of six women who were also there for the first time based on reviews. We agreed the space is gorgeous and has potential, but our experiences were just "okay" overall. It's a beautiful spot with great music and atmosphere, but the operational hiccups and reservation policy make it tricky for walk-ins or solo guests. I probably wouldn't return personally, but if you're planning a group outing or special event, book ahead and you might have a much better time

A friend I met many years ago at a wine tasting invited me to a Burgundy wine class at Packing House Wines, and I attended. The store is located up a few steps on the north side of the Claremont Packing House. Parking is usually not an issue as there is a big multi-level parking garage on the east side of the packing house. All attendees sat down to a list of wines to be tasted, a printed out copy of the slides being presented, a big burgundy wine glass for pours, water, and a nice little charcuterie plate. The owner Sal gave the presentation, and it was easily the best wine class I have ever attended. He talks pretty fast, but not too fast, and his delivery was excellent, providing an extensive amount of information that was easy to understand. We pretty much learned everything about Burgundy wines from the history of the region, the stringent production laws, different classes of Burgundy wines, and details about all of the different producers and regions we tasted wines from. The class was scheduled for two hours, but it ended up lasting for two and a half hours. It would have been easy to stay for much longer as the class and wines were very enjoyable. The wine class was a little pricey at $125 per person, but this was a bargain as Burgundy wines are expensive. We were able to taste ten 1.5 ounce pours including several Premier Cru and Grand Cru wines (one of them was $350/bottle). My favorites were the '17 Albert Bichot Fixin ($53.99) and the '20 Domaine Lecheneaut Vosne Romanee ($124.99) which I purchased. They have wine classes regularly, and I will definitely return if one catches my eye. They have quite a selection of wines for sale, as well as tasting flights and food from their kitchen.

Even though reservations are not taken, they were set up for us and ready to get the dinner party started. This is wonderfully thoughtful service. Once in, our waitress explained that she could do partial group checks for four. That was also a thoughtful way to handle a larger group. It would have been awkward for us to split all of the variety of items on the receipt amongst us, being that we ordered so many different dishes. And wow! Did we order a lot of dishes! That's part of the fun of coming to Viva Madrid: there's such a wide variety of tapas and/or entrees to share. The more we tried, the more we wanted to continue to try! From the pitchers of both red and white sangrias, tapas, entrées, and desserts, we really made our way around the menu. Our delectable dishes came out little by little. And that's rather important here, as those small plates have a sneaky way of filling you up, with a little bit of this and a little bit of that. The pacing gave us an opportunity to enjoy each dish at a leisurely pace, while we chatted, laughed, and in general, got to enjoy the night in an unhurried and relaxed environment. Our plates were delicious! Such a variety of unique flavors that you wouldn't find in another kind of dining experience. Creamy, salty, aged, rich, spiced but not spicy, meaty, veggie, sautéed, simmered, roasted..... there's something here for every palate. Be open to the adventure! Our waitress and other staff that checked in on us were fantastic! Friendly, knowledgeable - incredibly talented at keeping all the numbers and dishes straight - and attentive to each guest. Which again, is appreciated when part of a larger group. When you come here, be prepared to spend some time. Bring someone whose company you enjoy, then sit back, relax in the ambience of Spain, and be taken care of as if you'd been invited to dine in someone's home.

Went to this cute little place today in Claremont because we were specifically looking for a…read morewoodfired pizza. They've got indoor and outdoor seating and they seemed a touch understaffed for being a beautiful day. It was also a Tuesday lunchtime so maybe they weren't expecting it to be as busy as it was. We were able to prove the menu before we got seated. And our super friendly server came out and we were able to order right away. They've got a lunch special. That is a small personal pizza with a salad and we each got that. Salads came out first and I had the arugula salad, which was absolutely phenomenal. 10 of 10 would eat this every single day. The arugula was peppery and it was well dressed in a lemon vinaigrette type sauce. I am a fan of just plain lemon on mine, but this was delicious. My husband got a union salad, which is their specialty I guess. It's got colored carrots and some beets and some shallots. I thought the dressing was bland and it certainly needed salt and pepper. We asked for both and didn't get either. Our pieces came out and they were nice and woodfired. I feel like they could've been done just a little bit longer maybe a minute or two. The sauce was a lovely fresh type crushed tomato sauce. The cheese was nice and gooey and did not feel or taste like a package of processed cheese. Pepperonis were greasy, but in a real meat kind of way. I had to dab mine, but my husband just went to town on his. The pickled peppers is a pickled jalapeño. Big chunks of them. They certainly didn't skimp on any of the toppings. They were a little sweet and a little hot. Some of the big chunks were a little too sweet for my liking but overall, it was a nice flavor mix Also from a size standpoint, I thought the salad and pizza were very adequate for lunch at around $20 price point I asked for salt and pepper again as well as a side of ranch. This time we did get the salt and pepper as well as cheese and crushed red pepper. But we didn't get the ranch until we were leaving. The server did apologize and said he thought someone else was bringing it out but I pretty much deducted a star because we asked for a couple different things that never came. Overall, the service was super friendly, the ambience was nice for an outdoor lunch thought. I thought the menu looked delicious and there were several things I would like to come back and try and I would go back again.

We decided to try brunch on a Saturday morning. Long story short,…read more I ordered the steak and eggs breakfast. At $38ish, I expected a great meal. It was so underwhelming. 2 eggs cooked differently, one over hard, one over easy, 5-6 potato pieces and the steak was thin, overcooked, and appeared to be a cheap cut of meat. A New York cut would have been great. Wife mentioned norms has better steak and eggs. Called and spoke with a manager Stephanie, not looking for anything, but to express disappointment in the meal for the high price. She offered to mail a gift card for us and invited us back. Took all of my information and never received it. Thanks anyway. Don't think we'll be back.
