Whisper...more like a shout! Had the Poke Nachos which were tasty but nothing crazy. (For some reason Poke _(insert form)_ is like a standard these days... cough* yard house, Eureka, etc.) We also had the grilled cheese with braised short rib and the short rib dish itself. The food was actually very tasty! The grilled cheese with the tomato soup balanced so well together. the sandwich provided the yang (sweetness) and the soup the yin (sour taste). The braised short rib dish also was succulent, not-chewy, and melt in the mouth. There were a couple of other dishes I wanted to try, including the wide assortment of alcohol but currently I'm de-toxing from an Asia trip and honestly my liver enzymes are probably crying... so is my lipid panel. Great ambiance, Great staff, Great food. It was Mule Monday and they were delicious. Ordered the rib eye and for not being a "steakhouse" it was really good. Asparagus were perfect. Reservations were made but not checked off or cared about for dinner. Defiantly would go back if in the area. read more

The food here was pretty good but the wait was super long just to be seated, they don't have many tables to sit so i believe that contributed to the long wait. The service could have been a lot better we had very few check ups and were asked to swap out things on our meal due to the kitchen being out then when we agreed things that were supposed to be apart of the meal were forgotten. Usually i get disappointed from breakfast steak dishes but the steak egg Benedict was delicious. Needed to add salt but it was no big deal, and I'm not over how good the steak was cooked. we got the calamari to share and it was really good too, loved the breading--I haven't had anything that tastes like it. Finally got a chance to check this spot out after passing by a few times visiting Mozwell. It wasn't too busy for lunch on a Saturday. Seated quickly and served quickly too. Opted for a mimosa kit vs getting out own flights. It was perfect. Now the food was delicious. We ate it up! Both the red and green sauces were great in the chilaquiles. I added chorizo and it was a nice touch. It's a tiny bit too dark in there, so I think more lighting would be good. Even those little touch lights on the tables. Tucked away in a corner, behind the BBQ restaurant, you'll find The Whisper House. We went in on a saturday evening and quickly found a seat at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful. We ordered wine and the baked brie plate to start and it was amazing! The hot honey and buttery crisp bread were the perfect addition to the gooey brie. For dinner, we ordered the Mahi Mahi and Braised Short Rib. The Mahi had a wonderful crisp to it and the short rib was buttery soft. The portions are large, so we definitely did not have room for dessert. We need to go back for some dessert and after dinner cocktails. read more

The Whisper House is located in the Claremont Packing District. There is a large multi-story parking garage right next to the restaurant. You can make a reservation on Yelp, and they also have a Yelp live waitlist. We arrived around 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and were able to take advantage of their great happy hour deals. Seating options include the outside patio, at the bar, or booths and tables in the dining area. The ceilings are high and there are windows above which let in a good amount of natural light. We started out with a few appetizers and a round of drinks. Chips & Salsa ($4). The chips were fresh with an ok serving size, and just needed a little salt. The salsa was flavorful and had a nice light to medium heat. Fried Pickles ($8 during happy hour, normally $14). There were a good number of pickle chips that were fried nicely, and only a tiny bit oily. The ranch dipping sauce was a surprise as it had a little heat from added horseradish. I started with the Blossom from Oaxaca cocktail (verde mezcal, blanco tequila, lemon, pineapple, hibiscus, $15). The smokiness of mezcal has grown on me lately, but this drink was a little too smoky for me. I could also taste the lemon. If you enjoy a bold smoky mezcal cocktail, then you would like this. She had the Tiki Lychee cocktail (Don Q coconut rum, Giffard Lichi-Li liqueur, strawberry pineapple, Peuchaud's bitters, $14). It was very lychee flavor forward with pineapple at a medium level. It was actually pretty balanced with a light to medium sweetness. As always, bonus points for a nice shaken pineapple foamy top. We were still hungry so we ordered some more appetizers, and I had one more cocktail. Jalapeno Popper Wontons ($14). These were a good spin on traditional poppers. Diced jalapenos in cream cheese and fried in a wonton. They had a nice crispiness, and didn't fall apart like regular poppers often do. The sweet and sour sauce was pretty standard and was good for dipping. Grilled Artichoke ($14). The grilled artichoke was good, although it was a little strange that one half was big and the other half was small. The lemon aioli was good for dipping. Buffalo Wings ($10 during happy hour, normally $18). The wings were on the smaller size, but a very good happy hour deal for only $10. They had a good tangy sauce with moderate heat. I had one more cocktail, the Kong is King (Old Forester 100 proof bourbon, dark rum, Giffard Banane du Bresil liqueur, walnut bitters, nutmeg, $15). I have had several Forester bourbon with banana cocktails at other places which I really enjoyed, but this one was more old fashioned style. It was very bourbon forward with very light banana and walnut in the background. I enjoyed it but was hoping for something more balanced and less boozy. We had two or three different servers take orders and deliver food and drink, and they were all very friendly and everything was well paced. We would definitely return again, especially to take advantage of their great happy hour menu. read more

Not originally where we planned to go, but an opportunity to explore popped up, and this spot was within walking distance. The name definitely creates some intrigue. Follow the signs to locate it. I liked the obscure location and we happened to arrive right when they opened at 4. You can choose between indoor and outdoor seating. It was a perfect October evening, so I kind of regret not opting for the patio; the inside can get a little chilly. The entrance being on the side adds a nice, intimate touch. Inside, it's dimly lit, but every table has a small tap lamp with two brightness settings; thoughtful and perfect for reading the menu. We mostly enjoyed what was on the happy hour menu (4 to 6pm on weekdays). But I did give in to temptation and order the steak frites. Cooked medium-rare, just how I like it. It didn't quite melt in your mouth, and there was a bit of fat to work around. The fried pickles were a standout; crispy, with what tasted like house-made ranch. I think they mixed in some dill and horseradish. Whatever it was, yum. We wrapped up with the bananas foster bread pudding. Wow, so fluffy and comes out sizzling. Enjoyed every bite. Service was attentive, background music played at a comfortable level, and there are two TVs near the bar. The drink selection is great, lots of beers, cocktails, and I think even some wine options. The regular price is pretty average. Cocktails usually ranging around $15 or higher. Since i ordered from the happy hour menu, I wondered if the regular drinks would also be small and filled with large ice. But I did like the options of salted rim for my margarita. Right now they have the Halloween special cocktails and since today was Thursday, they had Tiki Thursday cocktails, which seem very creative and unique. I love that they have many special cocktails, which I would try next time.This time I did not try, but I will for sure next time when I come. It seems like they are very popular for their brunch so this is why I will definitely come back. The brunch menu looks very extensive with many options to choose from. Anyways, what I ordered was the buffalo wings, chips and guacamole, and red blend wine from the happy hour menu. The food was very good fresh and popping hot with a good flavor. The guac was pretty good. It could've been a little bit more flavorful. On the regular menu, I tried the shrimp Caesar salad and that was pretty good as well, though they messed up and put tomatoes, It was still pretty decent but I will stay overall for the food. I will rate 4/5. Red blend was very good too! The server was exceptional. The first lady we had I forgot her name, but she was very nice and then when she went on break, we got the pleasure to have Jackie and she was very attentive very good personality with a good sense of humor. We rarely go into Claremont so we popped in to treat our Grandmother with a birthday dinner at The Whisper House. I was happy to see it wasn't crowded on a Monday evening. We were seated right away at a large, comfy booth. What we ordered: - Market Jambalaya (good spice, decent portion. sadly the Andouille sausage was cut up into super tiny chunks that I was always sifting through the undercooked carrots that happened to be cut in the exact same shape and size) - Braised Short Rib (cooked perfectly, could use salt. bigger chunks of undercooked carrots made them inedible for our 85 year old Grandma. We were provided a slightly more steamed plate of veggies, but that didn't arrive until she was practically done with her meal) - Hot Chicken Sandwich w/ garlic parm fries (super crunchy and perfectly spiced chicken. Garlic parm fries on point) - Wake Up Call Burger w/garlic parm fries (generous sized burger, cook was as requested, could use a little salt. Garlic parm fries were thin and slightly crispy.) We ordered a couple non-alcoholic drinks: - Mr. Tea (better than your average Arnold Palmer) - We're Just Friends (loved the muddled blackberries with the ginger lemonade. quite refreshing.) Dessert: - Bananas Foster Bread Pudding (because we needed a dessert to sing happy birthday. duh! boiling caramel was poured over the dish at the table in front of us. It was fun to hear the sizzle and see the boil over into the iron skillet. Tasty combo of the nutty caramel over the cold vanilla ice cream, bananas, and soft bread pudding. Surprisingly it wasn't overly sweet. We all enjoyed it together. Aside from under salted and way undercooked carrots, the ambiance was dark, cool, casual vibes. I was excited to try this place out but I wasn't impressed at all!!! As soon as we sat our waitress asked us to provide a credit card! I was shocked since we hadn't even ordered and I asked her if she was asking for a credit card because people were ordering food and taking off without paying and she said no, it just makes things easier! What??? That's it??? Come to find out, they even charged my Amex card $5 right away but then credited it.. Probably to see if my credit card was valid??? Our waitress wasn't good at all and hardly checked on us, even though it wasn't that busy however both hosts were very nice and were trying to fix the heater for us! The parking was free and right next to the restaurant which was nice.. The food was just okay but I won't be back since there are so many other food options there and that whole thing with the credit card issue and not being clear/honest about their reasoning was a big turn off!!! Walking in felt like stepping into a romantic dark barn house. Perfect for date night. Our server was great and the service was fast. We went on a weekday. We ordered the jambalaya and blackened chicken to share, plus a couple of their signature cocktails. Everything tasted okay, but nothing really wowed me. For the price we paid, I was expecting more from our food. The Whisper House has atmosphere and service. It's a romantic little hideaway, and I loved the aesthetic. But when it comes to food value, I left feeling like we could have gotten a better meal for the same money elsewhere in the Packing House or somewhere else in the Claremont area. I was looking for a place to grab a drink while a family member was visiting from out of the country. I had heard about the whisper House, but really had never gone into it. Which I'm glad I did. We decided to sit outside and even though it was cold, our server was quick to turn on a heated lamp for us, which was really nice. The drinks were phenomenal and their cheese bake, which has the strawberries, raspberries, walnuts, and hot honey was amazing. I'm always stoked when I get to make my way back toward the Claremont area, after we moved down to the OC, cause it means I get the chance to go to one of my favorite places. The waitress was terrible from bringing out drinks that had no CO2 and were flat, when told this, she was shocked. Orders came out in sections not together, there was a 5 minutes between delivery, and were wrong three times. We were never asked if we would Like refills of our drinks. Waitress has no idea how to clear a table to ensure there was room for more food. Several of the meals were prepared wrong, but we didn't have all day to try to get it right. When the bill came they had already included a 18% tip for a party of 6. So it goes to show if the tip is included the service will be shitty. It can get a little bit busy during weekends but it's a nice vibe inside. With a pretty dark interior and a great list of cocktails, it's a solid date night choice. They missed their mark a little bit because the cocktails and the food was good but each felt like it was missing something important. Bruschetta: Get Always a refreshing dish, this one was indeed the same. It was a great starter and the mozzarella was creamy and fresh, but I felt like it could have used more balsamic or more punch somewhere Chicken pot pie: Skip? Of course a hearty dish that will fill you up, I just felt like it could have been more creamy or savory. It's an unfortunate comparison but I probably would have preferred marie calendars over this Service was okay and seemed a little bit too casual for a date night vibe tbh. I have lived in Rancho for over five years and have never been here. So glad I did. Everything is excellent and I absolutely love that they having happy hour on the weekends I wish most places would do that. Worst experience. They sat me in a corner by the kitchen, and our table was extremely sticky. When I asked our waitress if someone could clean it she just said that it's the biggest complaint about the tables, and there was nothing she could do about it. The table bases were so large and the space was so small that my boyfriend and I were very uncomfortable the entire time. We ordered our food, and it came out only two minutes later, which made it seem like it had already been sitting there ready.
