Great place to eat and drink at ! Super nice dark and cozy with cute table lamps. The waiter was quick and nice refilled our waters without asking a million times like other places . I had a nice glass of white wine . I recommend the bourbon salmon plate they don't have much to choose from but omg it was yummy and healthy , came out quick too . Garlic fries are also the best there .coming back again for sure
3.5 stars, better than average! - Nachos were sizable and great to share, but the dish itself was just ok. Americanized nachos, if there is such a thing. Shredded beef, tomatoes (not pico de gallo), black beans, fresh crisp jalapeños (not pickled), etc. You get the picture of what everything is. - Gluten-free burger was NOT IT, unfortunately, which is a shame because there's not many gluten-free options at every restaurant. - Vegan jambalaya with shrimp was okay. My friends and I summarize this restaurant as being "great for apps and cocktails" and not the best for dinner. It's sort of in a tucked away location. I nearly walked into Gus's BBQ because I missed the sign pointing to the Whisper House entrance. Plenty of free street and structure parking in downtown Claremont since it's a college town. Servers were attentive and noticed when we needed refills and answered our questions.
Cynthia was the best server I've had here. I come almost every month. She's sweet and very attentive. Her recommendations were great. The 502 burger is good but I'd recommend light peppers. They're not spicy but they overwhelm the taste of everything else. Their rusty anchor is pretty tasty. I am not sure if it's only available on Tiki Thursdays. I was able to get a table for 9 on Thursday night but I came an hour early to check in. Table was ready on time. Thank you to the host. Restaurant inside is dimmed and plays good music. Already recommend this place for a date night, adult family dinner, or a friend's social hangout.
I've been going here for years and I have not been disappointed. Let me start off with the service... the staff here is a hoot! They are happy to seat you, they keep it real, they are not stuffy or stuck up by any means. You'll see them joke with each other, joke with you (if that's the vibe), and just have a good time. The cocktails... one of the better places to go to for a great drink. Everything is made with fresh ingredients. My go-to is the margarita and it's crisp, refreshing, and always seems to leave my glass too quickly. The food... from the appetizers to the desserts, I have favorites in each category. Happy hour is my favorite time to go and make the most of some of their deals. Definitely try this spot!
This is a good brunch spot, especially if you're into cocktails. The variety of drinks is really what's carrying this review. They also have some solid mocktail options! The chicken and waffles sandwich was pretty mid. The waffles themselves were good, but the chicken was underseasoned and lacked flavor. It wasn't what I was expecting, and I didn't finish it. The star of the meal for me was the Hawaiian French Toast. It was so delicious and sweet on its own that I didn't even need to add extra syrup. I would order it again! The atmosphere was enjoyable and outdoor seating is nice. However, it is right behind the train tracks so it can get loud and unsettling when it passes by.
Came for dinner for the first time, as I've only ever been in for brunch or late-night drinks, and of course it did not disappoint. The steak frites were so delicious, the fried pickles were the best appetizer, and of course my tried and true short rib grilled cheese! We had Jacqui as our server, and she went above and beyond to ensure our experience was everything and more. That being said, the family has decided we will now have to become regulars with her because she is awesome!
The steak frites have been good in the past but this last visit, I found the food to be very lacking. Steak was tender but everything lacked flavor. Nachos were just okay but were mostly loaded with bland tortilla chips and a sprinkle of toppings and a dash of cheese. Wings were also just okay, somewhat bland as well. The ONE thing that is ALWAYS consistent about this restaurant is the service. It has always been awful. Our server had to be stopped to order our drinks, appetizers AND main entrees. She paid us no mind at all and barely even acknowledged we were there. My last visit was the same experience. I have had other friends say the same thing. I came back with the hope that the service would improve but if anything, it appears to have gotten worse. So unfortunate since this restaurant is visually very cute. Overall, I really want to love this place but I think it's time to part ways unfortunately lol there is definitely room for improvement here.
We came here on a whim after our first-choice restaurant had a long wait and I'm very glad we did! The food was very fresh and tasty, with large portions and a huge amount of variety. We were seated outside and were able to enjoy some nice weather while under the shade. The staff even went out of their way to bring out another umbrella as the sun moved.
The Whisper House is located in the Claremont Packing District. There is a large multi-story parking garage right next to the restaurant. You can make a reservation on Yelp, and they also have a Yelp live waitlist. We arrived around 3:30pm on a Sunday afternoon and were able to take advantage of their great happy hour deals. Seating options include the outside patio, at the bar, or booths and tables in the dining area. The ceilings are high and there are windows above which let in a good amount of natural light. We started out with a few appetizers and a round of drinks. Chips & Salsa ($4). The chips were fresh with an ok serving size, and just needed a little salt. The salsa was flavorful and had a nice light to medium heat. Fried Pickles ($8 during happy hour, normally $14). There were a good number of pickle chips that were fried nicely, and only a tiny bit oily. The ranch dipping sauce was a surprise as it had a little heat from added horseradish. I started with the Blossom from Oaxaca cocktail (verde mezcal, blanco tequila, lemon, pineapple, hibiscus, $15). The smokiness of mezcal has grown on me lately, but this drink was a little too smoky for me. I could also taste the lemon. If you enjoy a bold smoky mezcal cocktail, then you would like this. She had the Tiki Lychee cocktail (Don Q coconut rum, Giffard Lichi-Li liqueur, strawberry pineapple, Peuchaud's bitters, $14). It was very lychee flavor forward with pineapple at a medium level. It was actually pretty balanced with a light to medium sweetness. As always, bonus points for a nice shaken pineapple foamy top. We were still hungry so we ordered some more appetizers, and I had one more cocktail. Jalapeno Popper Wontons ($14). These were a good spin on traditional poppers. Diced jalapenos in cream cheese and fried in a wonton. They had a nice crispiness, and didn't fall apart like regular poppers often do. The sweet and sour sauce was pretty standard and was good for dipping. Grilled Artichoke ($14). The grilled artichoke was good, although it was a little strange that one half was big and the other half was small. The lemon aioli was good for dipping. Buffalo Wings ($10 during happy hour, normally $18). The wings were on the smaller size, but a very good happy hour deal for only $10. They had a good tangy sauce with moderate heat. I had one more cocktail, the Kong is King (Old Forester 100 proof bourbon, dark rum, Giffard Banane du Bresil liqueur, walnut bitters, nutmeg, $15). I have had several Forester bourbon with banana cocktails at other places which I really enjoyed, but this one was more old fashioned style. It was very bourbon forward with very light banana and walnut in the background. I enjoyed it but was hoping for something more balanced and less boozy. We had two or three different servers take orders and deliver food and drink, and they were all very friendly and everything was well paced. We would definitely return again, especially to take advantage of their great happy hour menu.
Jackie is amazing as always . Please ask for her when you go. We tried some new items tonight the ahi tacos ( loved the sweet chili dressing ... hot but not too hot ) and the rusty anchor . This was a new one for us but we are avid tiki drinkers and approved of this complex blend of different rums . Very yummy . Trying new things is awesome but please please please don't get rid of your waffle chicken sliders . The waffles here are amazing and my heart just couldn't bear it .
came here for brunch with a close friend of mine while grabbing coffee, we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious our food was. Usually i get disappointed from breakfast steak dishes but the steak egg Benedict was delicious. Needed to add salt but it was no big deal, and I'm not over how good the steak was cooked. we got the calamari to share and it was really good too, loved the breading--I haven't had anything that tastes like it. Very light and airy. My friend got the breakfast burrito and rated it a "7/10" only because of the lack of salt. but otherwise it was moist, well cooked and delicious. Our server Cynthia was a sweet heart. she took great care of us :)

I completely forgot to take pictures of our entree dishes because we were so excited to eat! This place is a hidden gem at the Claremont Packing House. Tucked away in a corner, behind the BBQ restaurant, you'll find The Whisper House. We went in on a saturday evening and quickly found a seat at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful. We ordered wine and the baked brie plate to start and it was amazing! The hot honey and buttery crisp bread were the perfect addition to the gooey brie. For dinner, we ordered the Mahi Mahi and Braised Short Rib. The Mahi had a wonderful crisp to it and the short rib was buttery soft. The portions are large, so we definitely did not have room for dessert. We need to go back for some dessert and after dinner cocktails.
Whenever I'm in town, this place is definitely one of my go-to spots! The drinks are phenomenal, and I absolutely love the vibe and atmosphere here. The service was great overall, although I will say it took a little longer than expected to get our drinks. Honestly, that's an easy fix, and it definitely wouldn't stop me from coming back. My drink is the espresso martini I'll for sure be back next time I'm in town! read more

Always love coming down to Whisper House in Claremont. The wait is usually not too bad, and the cocktails are great. They had a Holiday Popup situation with special holiday drinks, but you can't go wrong with their old fashioned. read more

There's structure or street parking to get here. It's got plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are friendly and helpful. They made sure the table was in the shade while out in the sunny day. It's a chill and casual atmosphere. Great place for hangouts with friends or family. I got the Claremont burger. It was pretty good although not as warm as I'd expect it. The fries were the restaurant seasoned typed, which were great. I'd return to try out more of the menu. read more
Not originally where we planned to go, but an opportunity to explore popped up, and this spot was within walking distance. The name definitely creates some intrigue. Follow the signs to locate it. I liked the obscure location and we happened to arrive right when they opened at 4. You can choose between indoor and outdoor seating. It was a perfect October evening, so I kind of regret not opting for the patio; the inside can get a little chilly. The entrance being on the side adds a nice, intimate touch. Inside, it's dimly lit, but every table has a small tap lamp with two brightness settings; thoughtful and perfect for reading the menu. We mostly enjoyed what was on the happy hour menu (4 to 6pm on weekdays). But I did give in to temptation and order the steak frites. Cooked medium-rare, just how I like it. It didn't quite melt in your mouth, and there was a bit of fat to work around. The fried pickles were a standout; crispy, with what tasted like house-made ranch. I think they mixed in some dill and horseradish. Whatever it was, yum. We wrapped up with the bananas foster bread pudding. Wow, so fluffy and comes out sizzling. Enjoyed every bite. Service was attentive, background music played at a comfortable level, and there are two TVs near the bar. The drink selection is great, lots of beers, cocktails, and I think even some wine options. The regular price is pretty average. Cocktails usually ranging around $15 or higher. Since i ordered from the happy hour menu, I wondered if the regular drinks would also be small and filled with large ice. But I did like the options of salted rim for my margarita. Id be curious to have dinner with friends here and try their burgers in the future. read more

We stumbled across The Whisper House since the other restaurant we were going to was not available because of an event. Pretty happy that I finally tried the whisper house. It has been in my bookmark for a very long time and I like how inconspicuous it is and it's located right next to Gus's barbecue. The hostess was very nice and pleasant, and inside it's cool w/ decorations right now for Halloween and it is very good for a date night since it's pretty dark inside, but the ambience is perfect and they play really good music from every genres and different eras.. I love how they have a very good happy hour menu from drinks to bites and also they have special cocktail menus. Right now they have the Halloween special cocktails and since today was Thursday, they had Tiki Thursday cocktails, which seem very creative and unique. I love that they have many special cocktails, which I would try next time.This time I did not try, but I will for sure next time when I come. It seems like they are very popular for their brunch so this is why I will definitely come back. The brunch menu looks very extensive with many options to choose from. Anyways, what I ordered was the buffalo wings, chips and guacamole, and red blend wine from the happy hour menu. The food was very good fresh and popping hot with a good flavor. The guac was pretty good. It could've been a little bit more flavorful. On the regular menu, I tried the shrimp Caesar salad and that was pretty good as well, though they messed up and put tomatoes, It was still pretty decent but I will stay overall for the food. I will rate 4/5. Red blend was very good too! The server was exceptional. The first lady we had I forgot her name, but she was very nice and then when she went on break, we got the pleasure to have Jackie and she was very attentive very good personality with a good sense of humor. I love going to Claremont to eat and try a new restaurants. I will definitely come back here again and it's alot of free parking. read more
The food here was pretty good but the wait was super long just to be seated, they don't have many tables to sit so i believe that contributed to the long wait. The service could have been a lot better we had very few check ups and were asked to swap out things on our meal due to the kitchen being out then when we agreed things that were supposed to be apart of the meal were forgotten. If you would like to try i recommend maybe you will get a different experience read more
Came here with a friend to grab some drinks at the bar. The atmosphere is dark and gave me speakeasy vibes. I can see this being a great date night spot. We ordered lemon drops and green tea shots. The drinks were good and exactly what I'd expect. All of the bartenders were friendly and making conversation with us. Overall, it's a pretty cool spot. I'll definitely have to try their food next time. read more

Visited The Whisper House in Claremont to celebrate my grandmother's 85th birthday, and it was a wonderful experience. Our party of four was seated promptly, and we easily found free street parking nearby. Our server, Anahii, was incredibly kind and attentive throughout the meal. I don't usually order mocktails, but their creative drink menu caught my eye. We tried the "Mr. Tea," "We're Just Friends," and "Berry Styles"--all were fun, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. For food, we ordered the jambalaya, Wake Up Call burger with garlic fries, braised short ribs, and the hot chicken sandwich with garlic fries. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. To end the night, we shared the banana bread pudding while singing happy birthday to Nana. The overall vibe of the restaurant was chill and inviting--perfect for a casual celebration or date night. Great service, creative menu, and a cozy atmosphere make this a spot worth returning to. read more

We rarely go into Claremont so we popped in to treat our Grandmother with a birthday dinner at The Whisper House. I was happy to see it wasn't crowded on a Monday evening. We were seated right away at a large, comfy booth. What we ordered: - Market Jambalaya (good spice, decent portion. sadly the Andouille sausage was cut up into super tiny chunks that I was always sifting through the undercooked carrots that happened to be cut in the exact same shape and size) - Braised Short Rib (cooked perfectly, could use salt. bigger chunks of undercooked carrots made them inedible for our 85 year old Grandma. We were provided a slightly more steamed plate of veggies, but that didn't arrive until she was practically done with her meal) - Hot Chicken Sandwich w/ garlic parm fries (super crunchy and perfectly spiced chicken. Garlic parm fries on point) - Wake Up Call Burger w/garlic parm fries (generous sized burger, cook was as requested, could use a little salt. Garlic parm fries were thin and slightly crispy.) We ordered a couple non-alcoholic drinks: - Mr. Tea (better than your average Arnold Palmer) - We're Just Friends (loved the muddled blackberries with the ginger lemonade. quite refreshing.) Dessert: - Bananas Foster Bread Pudding (because we needed a dessert to sing happy birthday. duh! boiling caramel was poured over the dish at the table in front of us. It was fun to hear the sizzle and see the boil over into the iron skillet. Tasty combo of the nutty caramel over the cold vanilla ice cream, bananas, and soft bread pudding. Surprisingly it wasn't overly sweet. We all enjoyed it together. Aside from under salted and way undercooked carrots, the ambiance was dark, cool, casual vibes. Would be a good intimate date night if it wasn't packed. Loved the backlit bar shelves. I could see myself enjoying a couple cocktails on those barstools. Finally got a chance to check this spot out after passing by a few times visiting Mozwell. It wasn't too busy for lunch on a Saturday. Seated quickly and served quickly too. Opted for a mimosa kit vs getting out own flights. It was perfect. Now the food was delicious. We ate it up! Both the red and green sauces were great in the chilaquiles. I added chorizo and it was a nice touch. It's a tiny bit too dark in there, so I think more lighting would be good. Even those little touch lights on the tables. I would love to come back to try dinner. read more
Finally had the opportunity to try The Whisper House for brunch. Has a speakeasy vibe with great service and a nice brunch selection. Had the Blossom from Oaxaca to drink at the suggestion of the waitstaff. As a margarita lover, this resonated as a margarita with a slight twist and was enjoyable. Decided on the breakfast sliders which came on a waffle that tasted freshly made, scrambled egg, bacon and cheese with a side of breakfast potatoes and syrup. Presentation is always 10/10! Monday is Mule Monday! $8 (Includes Moscow, Mexican, Irish, & Kentucky) Our lovely waitress, Anahi informed us! Brought our 6 year old this time and he loved their Mac and cheese served with fries. We were a little upset about our Mac and cheese balls not on the menu BUT the Steak and Frites as well as the Ahi Tuna Tacos were amazing. I was excited to try this place out but I wasn't impressed at all!!! As soon as we sat our waitress asked us to provide a credit card! I was shocked since we hadn't even ordered and I asked her if she was asking for a credit card because people were ordering food and taking off without paying and she said no, it just makes things easier! What??? That's it??? Come to find out, they even charged my Amex card $5 right away but then credited it.. Probably to see if my credit card was valid??? Our waitress wasn't good at all and hardly checked on us, even though it wasn't that busy however both hosts were very nice and were trying to fix the heater for us! The parking was free and right next to the restaurant which was nice.. The food was just okay but I won't be back since there are so many other food options there and that whole thing with the credit card issue and not being clear/honest about their reasoning was a big turn off!!! Walking in felt like stepping into a romantic dark barn house. Perfect for date night. Our server was great and the service was fast. We went on a weekday. We ordered the jambalaya and blackened chicken to share, plus a couple of their signature cocktails. Everything tasted okay, but nothing really wowed me. For the price we paid, I was expecting more from our food. The Whisper House has atmosphere and service. It's a romantic little hideaway, and I loved the aesthetic. But when it comes to food value, I left feeling like we could have gotten a better meal for the same money elsewhere in the Packing House or somewhere else in the Claremont area. I saw they had a brunch menu which piqued my interest, so I would definitely come back to try their brunch, but probably not for dinner again. 3/5 read more

Are dogs allowed on patio?
When I was there, I do believe there was at least one small dog, which I personally do not approve of, and there were also lots of small children, which is even worse...
Is this place good for a large party of 10?
Yes. They have an outdoor patio with plenty of seating. I think they can accommodate indoors as well.
Do they offer a bottomless mimosa brunch?
We do not. We have mimosa kits as well as mimosa flights using syrups that we make in house

We do not offer bottomless mimosas. We have a mimosa flight or a mimosa kit.
Is this place kid friendly?
Well my teenagers love it. And I've seen other's with younger kids. But definitely no playground! Ha haha 😂
Are reservations required? Or do you take walk-ins?
Reservations are recommended on weekends but they do accept walk-ins as well.

What time does the kitchen close on Saturdays?
11:30pm is last call, establishment closes at midnight except Sunday. Sunday the whisper house closes at 9pm

No live music or dj inside but usually someone playing in courtyard just outside of restaurant on weekends.
Do you have any gluten free options?
We have the ability to modify some of our items to be gluten free.
