Deviled eggs

Great service, great food. Went for Sunday brunch , everything was good and the service was great

Love the art deco interior, staff was friendly and drinks were plenty good. It was Black Friday and was just looking to have some drinks with a friend and it was perfect. It was a little slippery inside since it was raining out, but the staff was quick to bring out a sign as soon as something was said. Looking forward to coming back for some food next time.

I'm so glad to have something like this downtown! Great food, great service, a little noisy when it's busy but cozy when it's not.

Very good service there, puts us in good mood immediately. Food was served a bit late, appetizer and the rest of the dishes came out almost same time. Tuna stack was alright, I had better ones many other places, salmon plate had very good califlower mash, it's delightful and healthy. Brie burger is delicious, we all agreed it's better than the salmon. I think this is a very good spot for date night, celebration and even casual business team outing. Give it a try! :)

Loved everything about this place - the decor, the service, the food, the drinks. My server was incredibly helpful and polite and the bar tender surprised me with one of my new favorite drinks after asking him to surprise me with something. I had the tuna tower and it was so good. I can't wait to go back and try more of their food.

Salmon

Opening week for Studio Four29 in downtown Upland. This brand new spot offers a classy dining room and elevated dishes. I had the tuna tower, deep-fried deviled eggs, king salmon, and lamb meatballs. I have to say, the salmon and meatballs were divine. The dishes were vibrant with color, plated beautifully, cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. Once this restaurant gets settled and works out their timing issues in the kitchen, this will be a destination dinner spot. I wish them the best in their future endeavors!

Kurobuta pork belly, Prawns, and Lamb meatballs.

3 of us arrived at 3:30pm on a sunday. We were told that would could wait until 4pm for the dinner service or we could order apps only until that time. No worries, we got the fried deviled eggs and some drinks to hold us until the dinner service. The deviled eggs were good. My wife enjoyed them. While we waited we had some drinks and they were very good. For the main course we decided to order 3 plates and share it all so we could try several things. 1. Kurobuta pork belly 2. Lamb meatballs 3. Prawns Im going to start with the prawns as this was my least favorite. First thing is that it was listed under the shareables. There were exactly 2 prawns and one cheese stuffed pepper. The prawns were extremely dry and did not have much flavor. My wife had the pepper and found that it too was lacking in flavor. The next dish was the Lamb meatballs.... and I seriously could not tell them apart from a beef meatball. They were ok, but very dry as well. If you took a bite with the tomato sauce and some of the spinach they were pretty good. I did enjoy the lemon potatoes and the spinach a lot. The last dish was the Kurobuta pork belly, and this one did not disappoint. The brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly and paired well with the sweet potatoes. The pork was delish, with just enough fat and sauce to get some real flavor explosion. Definitely the best dish of the meal. Overall the meal was nice. The service team were extremely nice and accommodating. The atmosphere of the place is what really drew us in... since I watched it being put together a little at a time while walking by for a few months. They nailed the art deco experience with all the different textures and the beautiful lighting. While our meal was not the best, Im hoping it will improve on our next try. I was sad that the mahi-mahi & octopus ceviche was sold out... so Im hoping to get to try that!

Goat Cheese Lollipops

Studio 429 is a great place to stop for dinner and drinks. This place has a pleasant atmosphere and great bartenders. My personal favorite was the goat cheese, lollipops that were sitting in honey, and sprinkled with thinly sliced almonds

Happy Hour Charcuterie Plate

Hidden Gem Alert in Downtown Upland! This new spot is pure magic--a sophisticated, cool atmosphere paired with flavors that surprise and delight. We stumbled upon it for happy hour and it was an unexpected treasure trove of indulgence. The charcuterie plate? Generous and beautifully curated. Each bite of savory meat was divine, but the true showstopper was the goat cheese lollipops--crispy, creamy, and absolutely addictive. A flavor bomb in every bite! Pro tip: Order these Happy Hour items together. The "Velvet Rope" cocktail lived up to its name: smooth, refreshing, and layered. It hit that perfect balance of bold and welcoming. I'm already craving another. Portions were impressively generous and plated with a level of care you rarely find in casual settings. Everything felt elevated--yet never pretentious. Dessert deserves its own standing ovation. Their warm flourless chocolate cake paired with fresh strawberries melted right into the soul. Silky, rich, and comfort wrapped in decadence. The staff was genuinely warm and attentive, making the entire afternoon celebratory. We left feeling full--in every sense of the word. Already plotting our next visit. If you're in Upland and want an experience that surprises, delights, and satisfies, this place absolutely delivers.

This place is beautiful, the ambiance is great. The bar tender was very friend, knowledgeable and even offered us one of his own creation. I believe his name is PJ. We just came in for drinks but will definitely try their food next time. We hear the Poutine is good.

Fried ricotta cheese balls

This place is so good! I ordered the eggs Benedict with crispy prosciutto instead of bacon and the hollandaise sauce everything was just so tasty. The service was top-tier. Our server went above and beyond and constantly checked in. She was great. This is such a cute restaurant. The bar area is beautiful. Definitely fun for a Sunday's brunch spot.

Petite filet mignon and New York steak
Cristina R.

Finally a restaurant close to home that makes me want to come back for more, my taste buds were amazed by different varieties such as the goat cheese lollipop and the filet was cooked perfection, we sat outside it was cold but thankfully the warmers helped and the drinks for their valentines special help keep me warm the plur drink was different but good. Our waitress was so sweet and kind they were very busy but I could see they were helping one another out I love to see that at a restaurant working as a team. My filet Mignon was soft and cooked very tender the potato too was was very delicious and broccoli was my favorite, husband ordered the New York steak he inhaled it and said he was very happy with the pepper on it. We also ordered sourdough bread we're trying to make out the dipping sauce gave us an olive oil with balsamic vinegar and another ingredient that was a perfect combination. We will be back to try their brunch and the hamburger thank you for a wonderful early valentines evening. One last thing the crème brûlée was delicious the paring of the pears and black berries was very creative.

Disappointed and Won't Return I really wanted to like Studio Four 29, but my experience was a mess from start to finish. The space is extremely noisy with no acoustics--you can hear everything, and it's magnified. The atmosphere felt chaotic, especially with the manager rushing around, which honestly gave me anxiety. We were served the wrong appetizer, and when the goat cheese with honey finally arrived, it was completely flavorless and confusing. The wine pour was tiny for the price, with no carafe or side pour--just a deceiving glass. The worst part was the salmon. It was placed over soggy, bland vegetables and burned on the outside. I took a bite thinking it was a glaze--only to gag from the bitter, charred taste. My husband's wagyu burger had no seasoning either. The staff was kind and did apologize, even removing the salmon from the bill, but the damage was done. For the high prices, I expect quality and attention to detail. This is the same owner as Bardot in Claremont, but the execution here was inexcusable. I'd rather drive to LA or OC for a proper dining experience. Unfortunately, I won't be back.

One of the coolest things about a speakeasy is the transition into the space. Here, there's a walkway and corner, then turn into the candle and subtle lit space. It's a small thing? But that bit of walk helps distance the mind and feel open to the special space. There is a bar with seating, a long high top, and bench & table booth-ish type seating. The colors are warm, reminiscent of sitting in a western sunset. Music plays - jazzy, alternative, happy music. We were greeted and seated by the friendly hostess, then welcomed warmly by the magic maker himself: the bartender! And what delightfully unique, and dare I say daring, concoctions he made! The cocktails each had a spin, an ingredient, something *different* from the norm, making it challenging for my friend and I to narrow down which delights to try! Even the popcorn was unique, with chili and nutritional yeast savoriness that was the perfect complement to our cocktails. My friend felt the Silver Cloud was quite the adult version of a smoothie dessert! She got ideas...I adored my Last Word. It was refreshing with the green chartreuse and incredibly not-put-down-able. Next up, she had the Bandolier. It was a very unique taste to her, pretty puckery, so the bartender - who checked on us regularly for impressions - added a bit more pineapple. That did the trick! My next was the Boulevardier, which was uniquely and deliciously twisted with the coffee and salt. Absolute yum!!! Even though there's a 90 minute limit, on this Thursday night there was plenty of space between imbibers, and we weren't pressured in any way to move along. Thank you, as we were due for a proper catch up. One thing we did notice, is that once there were more folks chatting and laughing, it became a bit echo-y and harder to hear. On a busier night, I imagine the ambience we first experienced- quieter, mellow, chill vibe - likely changes to more robust and lively. Either way, this place is a feels-far-away retreat worth "traveling" to.

We started with bread service which includes a few different styles of bread along with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For my entree I went with the clam linguine. It comes with chopped clams, garlic in a white wine sauce and also has a few whole clams in shell. It was so good. It was very "seafoody" which was just what I was craving. I also got to taste the carbonara, which was also very tasty. It had plenty of pancetta and the sauce was rich. Overall a good experience.

This service--or lack there of--is where the experience fell short. While the staff was friendly, they were clearly overwhelmed by the Friday night crowd. The salad never arrived, we waited 30 minutes for water, and we had to hunt down our pizza after 45 minutes because it was never delivered to the table. Additionally, the beer list was IPA-heavy with few other options. The owner seemed genuinely nice and was walking the floor checking on guests. Walking through the 80s bar it gives off very clubby and busy vibes so it was hard to imagine a speakeasy at the end of it. I was actually shocked upon entrance and really impressed with the detail and ambiance. It is a small space and keep in mind you may share a table with another group if necessary. The drinks were actually phenomenal. On the pricier end of $22 and up but we're so good. I loved the horror theme play on the cocktail names! The candy man was delicious and my favorite. Service was fairly quick and friendly. The drinks were all sweet cocktails and in the "Matterhorn Lodge" theme. There is a 2 drink minimum purchase (per guest) and each drink is $20+ so it can add up. I'm more of a beer person but some of the drinks were delicious. There was one that tasted like Christmas morning (cinnamon, clove, milky) and another drink that had popping boba that was also fun. If you're a butterfinger or peanut butter fan, there was one drink that tasted like it (you'll see it on the drink menu). I wouldn't say the drinks were strong. They do a good job of enforcing the theme. They had a "Yeti" come out and interact with the tables. Good for photo ops. They also had a magician doing a few tricks, and I enjoyed that the most. The place was kept fairly chilly! Even the bathrooms had jokes and signage on the walls that alluded to the alps. Overall a great time. Small venue but pretty chill. Can be pricey. Take a sweater. Good for dates and small groups.
