The day we went was Cinco de Mayo, so the restaurant was mainly serving appetizer-style plates and tapas, but honestly it made it perfect for sharing different items with the table. Everything we had was very flavorful and well presented. They did such an incredible job with the aesthetic, design, and overall ambiance of this location. Itzel was our waitress. When we arrived, there were only a few tables occupied, so we didn't expect slow or poor service like you might on a busy Saturday night. Unfortunately, that's exactly what we experienced. After we finished our meal, we asked to split the check, and from that point on, the service became noticeably cold. I still paid my bill and left a tip, chalking it up to maybe just a bad night. However, as we were wrapping up, she simply said, "you guys are good," rolled her eyes, and walked away. We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday and overall had a really nice experience. Before going, we used their online inquiry to ask about reservations since they don't have a phone number listed. They actually put us down, which we appreciated, but when we arrived on a Wednesday night we still had to wait about 30 minutes to be seated. The lack of a phone number made communication a little tricky, so that's something to keep in mind. The restaurant itself is super cute. Very elegant and clean. The lighting is perfect and gives a nice ambiance, especially for a celebration. Just a heads up: the windows are open, so it does get a bit chilly. Our server was friendly and attentive, which made the experience even better. Prices felt fair-we spent about $300 for 6 people. At our table we ordered the steak, shrimp ceviche, ahi tuna, empanadas, chicken skewer, and shrimp pasta, and everything was solid. I would love to see the menu expand a bit, adding something like a three taco combo with rice and beans or an enchiladas plate would be great, especially since there were only about three entrée options. They also had a DJ playing, good music, which added a fun vibe without being overwhelming. The restrooms were clean, which is always a plus. For my mom's birthday, they brought out ice cream with a firework candle, which was such a cute touch. The restaurant is officially Mexican mom approved lol. Overall, we'd come back again. As a local of Ontario, this place was a TREAT. It's so cool to have the vibe of an LA rooftop without having to drive to LA! We expected to just stop in for a quick drink, but ended up having to stay longer and longer especially after the love dj came out. Ontario is definitely stepping up its game, I will also say that the views from the rooftop were so unexpected. When you're sitting by the windows up there you have a clear view of the mountains and a beautiful park with a town square. The drinks were bomb, the food was pretty great too! If you're like most people in the Ontario/Chino/Upland/Rancho area, you are always for the latest and greatest in the restaurant scene to sprout up. That's why, when I heard of El Balcón opening up, I knew I had to try it. And boy, was I surprised. Everything inside El Balcón gave me elevated vibes. From the cocktails to the menu offerings, it felt Ritzy which Is exactly what I wanted on a nice night out. I took my Fiance here for our weekly fancy date and we were pleasingly surprised. We loved how they had a live DJ who made the ambiance so much better! I think his name was DJ Kerfue or DJ Ralphy who's a known DJ in the Inland Empire so it was super cool to enjoy drinks and listen to the music at the same time. We were invited here for a friends birthday celebration. Upon arrival our party was gathered at the far corner of the bar. It was a bit cramped for the amount of people. The person throwing the get together said they were waiting on a table they had reserved. In the meantime we were still stuck in the corner section, and it became very inconvenient quickly. I guess that section of the bar is where the wait staff accesses the kitchen. So, we were constantly in the way. It was not our intention but there was nowhere else to congregate and the reservation time had came and went and we had still not been shown to the table. At one point one of the waitresses got upset and told us we needed to move because we were in the way. Mind you there were tables available in that area but they were "reserved" so we weren't allowed to sit there. At this point I'm beginning to get annoyed and would rather just leave. But my wife wants to celebrate her friends birthday so for her sake we decide to stay. I go to bar for a drink to try and take the edge off. There's only like 2 bartenders (I think, it was hard to distinguish between bartenders and bar backs). I'm waiting for quite a while and no acknowledgment whatsoever. I finally have to rudely flag someone down (which I hated doing because it's not in my nature) but the way in which the night was playing out just lead me to get frustrated. I finally put in my drink order and I ask to leave my tab open. By this time it's been 40 minutes past the time that we were supposed to have been seated. I asked the party host what the hold up was and he told me that the manager was waiting on the previous party to leave the table they had reserved. Why they weren't politely asked to leave is beyond me. Especially if the table had been previously reserved. Almost an hour had gone by and the party was finally escorted to the table. While at the table the same waitress who had given us an attitude came up to me and with the same attitude as before told me I needed to close my tab at the bar before I could order anything at the table. At this point I'm completely over the evening and over this establishment. I walk to the bar to close and I noticed that I was being charged for a drink I didn't order. I relay this to the young lady with the sunny disposition. She just shrugs and tells me to take it up with the bartender. I explain the situation to the bartender and they don't seem interested in listening. He just tells me that someone in the party I was with ordered the drink. I told him that that may have been the case, but I didn't so I wasn't paying for it. Finally, the person who originally took my order miraculously remembered what I ordered and they corrected the ticket. At this point I'm so dejected because when we got invited to this event I was looking forward to coming here. It seemed like a great concept and the place itself is very nice looking. I had read the previous post and how many people complained about the service. I chalked it up to a new establishment working out the kinks. I don't know how long they've been open now, but it seems the issues continue to plague them. Anyway a variety of food was ordered for the party but at that point I was done and chose not to try anything. I had lost my appetite and just wanted to go elsewhere where I'd feel more comfortable. We stayed for a while longer just so our departure wouldn't be so abrupt and so my wife could say her proper goodbyes. Maybe our experience would be different on a date night or dinner. It's my 4th time at EL Balcon so I think I have authority when it comes to my review! First and foremost, this place is POPPIN' and it is literally what downtown Ontario has been missing. It's A modern lounge with amazing cocktails, good bites to eat, and a place to relax with your wifey/friends. Food: The steak & fries are the two items I've gotten twice, and both are delicious. I'd highly suggest this if you come! Drinks: I've tried every item on their cocktail menu (I'm embarrassed to say but I've tried them all at least 3 different times. (Yes, I was drunk!) and each time, i couldn't pick a favorite because they were all delicious! Ambience: From the DJ to Live music, the quality of service and the atmosphere that they bring to each night is unmatched. We went to this restaurant last night and I just want to start by saying how excited I am to see Ontario growing with more restaurants and bars. I live locally and love supporting the spots popping up downtown. I frequent Downstairs Bottle Shop often and have been to Mule Car a few times, so I was really excited for the opening of El Balcon and finally made it over for appetizers and a drink. The atmosphere itself was really nice. It was a little chilly inside, but the ambiance was great. The space is beautiful and has such a fun vibe. When we arrived, we were told it would be about a 30 minute wait, which was no problem at all. We went downstairs to Bottle Shop to grab a drink while we waited. About 30 minutes later, I went back upstairs to check on our place in line and the host was not sure what we were referring to. No big deal, it happens. We noticed some open seats at the bar and decided to sit there instead. About 15 minutes after sitting down, a server came over and took our order. She brought my husband a beer shortly after, but it was a zero proof beer that he did not order. We tried to politely wave her down to let her know, but she avoided eye contact and continued taking other orders. I still had not received my drink either. After about 10 more minutes of trying to get someone's attention and watching other drinks being made, we decided to just get up and leave. I am not sure if we were forgotten about or if there was some confusion, but it was definitely disappointing. That said, I am not writing this place off. It is brand new and I know openings can be chaotic while teams work out the kinks. I genuinely hope that is all it was because I am rooting for it and will absolutely give it another try in a few months! read more

My husband and I tried El Balcon Rooftop last night. Not much information on their website, but we thought we would give it a try. We were walk-ins and were able to get a table right away. We went when they opened at 5pm. We noticed there were "reserved" signs on a few tables. So if your party is 4 or more make reservations. Sitting at the bar is no wait. Waitress took our drink order. I ordered the Diry Dill, with vodka and gin and pickle juice with tapitio. My husband ordered something flower with gin. I'm a big pickle fan and if you are going to call a drink a Dirty Dill, it should be regular pickle juice. It was served with sweet dills. It was sweet dill pickle juice. It wasn't bad but would've been better with regular pickles. Should've been called the sweet dill.... After a sip the tapitio hits you in the back of the throat. My husband's drink was good. It's a very limited menu for food and drinks. Usually that means food is fresh. A couple that sat at the bar probably 10 mins after us got their drinks before us! So we ordered food; I got the Chipotle shrimp and mashed potatoes. My husband ordered the pasta with chicken added and Tai chili chicken. More people were coming in while we were waiting. So did the other staff. The waiter that was serving a couple behind us told them there were specials. We already got our food after I heard him tell them the specials ‍ We were not told of any specials. The chipotle was too much, which usually when you add that much spice you're hiding something. Mashed potatoes were great! Garlic! My husband's chicken was excellent but the noodles really didn't have flavor. The Tai Chili chicken was overcooked, and drowning in sauce. So not fresh. My husband got sick in the middle of the night we are thinking from the Tai Chili Chicken.. We switched dinners half way through. Then as we were finishing my husband ordered a honey blonde beer. He said it was gross. Because their windows are open there's gnats flying all over your food. So something to be aware of. There was a party of 6-8 in a corner and they reserved that table just for drinks. They never ordered food. Drinks were $17 a piece and in the smallest glasses I've ever seen. The bill came... $90 for 3 dishes and two drinks. We paid cash and right in front of us the waitress added her own gratuity!! So it was like $110! For tiny plates and drinks. I gave two stars because the chicken and mashed potatoes were good. Service wasn't as good especially since she didn't have many tables, maybe 3? And it wasn't crowded. We probably won't be back.
