My family and I were invited to a 50th birthday party at this restaurant/bar. The event was held in the large, outdoor patio to the rear of the location. Over one hundred guests attended the party. The entire event and experience were fun and memorable. The bar area and the outdoor patio were vast, clean, and well-maintained. The outdoor area offered guests cabana-like seating with very comfortable padded chairs, as well as bar-like tables. Employees were very hard-working, friendly, and super nice. The food, which consisted of salad, lasagna, and pizza, was EXCELLENT!! And full of flavor. The adult beverages were well-made and easily available from the waiters and waitresses. The pizza here was delicious. We ordered the Zio, featuring pepperoni, basil, and hot honey--the flavors were spot on, and the crust had that perfect balance of chew and crunch. If I were rating on food alone, this would be a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. The atmosphere was great, featuring a cute bar up front and a large, comfortable back patio. We caught a live set by Zone Trooper Charlie, who played a fantastic two-hour gig outside. While most seating is comfortable, some of the plastic wicker-style chairs could be improved. This service--or lack there of--is where the experience fell short. While the staff was friendly, they were clearly overwhelmed by the Friday night crowd. The salad never arrived, we waited 30 minutes for water, and we had to hunt down our pizza after 45 minutes because it was never delivered to the table. Additionally, the beer list was IPA-heavy with few other options. The owner seemed genuinely nice and was walking the floor checking on guests. I hope people provide honest feedback so they can iterate to success. It's a good spot with good pizza--they just need to dial in the logistics to match the quality of the kitchen. read more

This place was pretty busy for an early Saturday evening. There's a nice little bar and some seating up front as well as an outdoor patio. I saw a secret door on the left side of the bar that seemed to be a speakeasy and only reason I knew it was, I saw people coming in an out. I asked about it, and tone of the gents that works there handed me a black card with a key. The other side had a scan code and you make reservations for that spot. We came solely for drinks. Our bartender Stephen was absolutely fantastic. Although they were busy, he made sure we got our drinks correctly and as soon as he was able to. I let him know the weekend before, I had tried the best espresso martini I've had in Newport. I tried one at Barcuso as well and it was not bad at all. Definitely top 10 for me. He offered to make me another to challenge the top spot for expressing martinis and I accepted. However, we had dinner reservations and had to come back at a different time. So Stephen...I still gotta come back and try the best espresso martini! The one in the photo is the Brit. Similar to an espresso martini but topped with sugar and egg white foam. The bartenders and owner are always attentive and inviting. The pizza is delicious and the drinks are Top Notch. My espresso martini was made with real espresso and smelled so good when the bartender was making it... and tasted delicious! Okay I came here once years ago but I don't live in the area and haven't been back for awhile, but I remember having a great experience. I'm mainly writing this review because I sat in front of Joey the owner at a Dodger's game on Monday and my gf and I were cracking up the entire game. If Joey wasn't in the bar business he would absolutely crush it as a stand-up comedian. Unfortunately the Dodgers lost (to the Guardians no less) but this game was memorable because of the commentary by Joey (and his friend Kief who I gotta shoutout as well). Next time I'm passing through that part of town I'm definitely stopping by for some pizza/beer and saying what's up to Joey. read more

Late post - we explored downtown Upland last weekend. It's a cute little town with a lot of food options as well as bars. We decided to try Barcuso because we love us some good whiskey. We enjoyed a couple of drinks - delicious! And shared a pizza which was divine as well. Nicely decorated inside and they have a huge back patio to enjoy some live music. Went after having some beers at Rescue Brewery. It was earlier in the night so there weren't many people there but it definitely picked up as the night progressed. The bartender was really nice and all the cocktails we tried were amazing. The bartender was very responsive to any questions we had and was willing to help us with our drink selections. He was more than happy to just make a classic smoked old fashioned instead of a fancier cocktail. And even that old fashioned was amazing. We did not try the pizza but it smelled great and looked delicious when the table next to us ordered it. I would definitely return and try more drinks and their pizza! read more

I had had my eyes on Barcuso on Yelp and Instagram for quite some time and finally had the chance to try it out. We went to try it out on a Saturday while a World Series Dodger game in as on. We enjoyed ourselves as a party of 4 on the outdoor patio which had plenty of tv's. My husband and I shared the Zio pizza which was delicious with the perfect amount of hot honey drizzled on it. I was curious to try the pizza with the pears on it also but they wouldn't let us do half and half. I'll have to visit again to try that one out. We inquired about the Speakeasy that they apparently have but it was not open that day due to the Dodger game being on. We will definitely be back to try another pizza and check out the speakeasy. read more

Barcuso Social Club is our go-to local pizza spot. The pizza is incredible especially the hot honey and the full bar has something for everyone. I don't drink whiskey, but the whiskey fans in my life say their selection is top notch. I'm loyal to the Lavender Sunset, best enjoyed on their amazing patio with TVs and fire pits. The staff is always friendly and accommodating, they even lowered the music for us without hesitation. Easy parking, great vibe, and the owner often stops by to check in. I'm always up to try new places. Specially, when it comes to pizza this place has really good reviews. The only option they had was cauliflower so we had to pay the up charge which seems kind of unfair. You would think they would just make a complementary. They ran out of pizza crust. However, the pizza came out cold. 2x. They had to remake another one for us, but it's taking way too long. This is frustrating especially when you're hungry. The inside isn't very large, but they do have a large patio out back. They have about 5 pizza's and some desserts. They have a large whiskey selection. The pizza was pretty tasty and had a good flavor. The cannoli was pretty tasty too (not pictured). We just stopped for drinks on the weekend, was a bit busy but we got seating easily even tho the bar was full. Despite that, the bartender was great. He was a one man show holding down the entire space, came out from behind the bar to greet us and provide us menus. As far as customer service goes, it was a solid 10. It's a casual space, drinks give a sophisticated vibe. We tried the corpse reviver #2 (bartender shared #1 wasn't a hit). I appreciated the story and love that they fix what doesn't work. #2 was pretty delicious. We had the french 75 and the continental sour. All great drinks, elevated. Pricey but again expected as these really are upscale drinks to impress your taste buds. The Staff was Amazing, and the initial intro was based on my phone call to inquire about patio seating etc. upon entrance hubby and I were greeted as if our business mattered to them. The pace of the evening was all uphill. Pizza was so delicious with honey drizzle. Hubby does not eat pork so they modified his side for him so we could share. Bartender was on point and extremely accommodating as he took very good care of us, from the food to the drinks. Our Old Fashion was great . We also did Whiskey tasting. I've been here a few times because I love the Vibe! However every time my service is horrible or I am IGNORED and I just leave. I see the owner engaging with people. At times he's smoking a cigar having a drink while people are waiting to be served or for me just my order to be taken. I wish they opened earlier in the day! If I could rate this place zero starts I would food drinks great. place is too small especially if you're booking private events and reserving the two or three tables you have available SHUT THE PLACE DOWN! This just makes the experience decline by -50 points. Some servers are rude. It's not people's fault the place is open and the owner wants to reserve out the tables available and book private events. Also if you reserve the place why aren't those people outside? They're at the bar AGAIN shut the place down for them! Most Ridiculous service. I will not be recommending this place to anyone. I love, love, love this establishment! Energy here is absolutely incredible. Acknowledgement is always given the moment I walk in and it just feels great to be welcomed in to a place. I met the owner whom is an absolute genuine and humble guy. This time around we ordered our fave- The Zio but this time on cauliflower crust and it was ridiculously delicious. Their bartenders are amazing, kind and super knowledgeable at their craft. The cocktails are not only delicious but the presentation is amazing. A crystal clear ice cube in my Negroni not only gives it a gorgeous look but also gives it a smooth taste. The environment is comfortable and welcoming. Super homey feel inside where it almost feels like a prohibition era decor. Lots of pictures of Joeys family. Servers are super nice and quick to bring waters and get our orders. Espresso martini was delicious and plenty strong. Tried nonnas pizza this time with their signature hot honey zio pizza. Between the two, absolutely prefer the zio pizza. Wanted to love this place. Was told it was great! But the customer service was absolutely horrible. Went in on a Friday around 6 and the bar was 3/4 full. There were seats open, it wasn't slammed. Sat at the bar with my girlfriend for 20 minutes waiting to put our order in and nothing. The bartender finally acknowledged us after 15 minutes (said he'd get with us shortly) but still never came by to take our drink orders. We ended up walking out. No reason to wait 20 minutes if the place isn't slammed. 2 stars because the pizzas looked absolutely amazing. read more

It's a Cheers-type (tiny) bar with amazing pizza. My partner and I don't drink, but I bought a loyalty card ($25, dinepal.com) so wanted to check it out. We dined in. The pear pizza was amazing. Instant no-regret, until 5 weeks later when we tried phoning in a pick up order and no one answered (Saturday night, over 30 minutes straight of trying) the darn phone. Ambiance is geared towards 20/30 yo "cheers" crowd, not us oldies who just like a good pie. Shame, bc this would totally be on the rotation otherwise. Sodas were bar sodas in plastic cups. Service was spotty. Took a long while. I hope they work it out. I want more of that pizza. read more
