The Bbq at kings brewery is the only reason I continue to come back -- the food is really good. Unfortunately, the experience at the beer counter hasn't been the best. A couple of the staff members, especially one of the gentlemen working there, come across as rude and unwelcoming. They also seem very reluctant to offer beer tasters, which makes it hard to try something new before ordering. If it weren't for the barbecue, I probably wouldn't return for the beer or the customer service experience. read more

The location is in a busy street with night life i can see why they chose this location it's in a great area. Service was quick you self seat once you arrive . So... this is def an adult establishment, but the set up is annoying. You order drinks at the counter, and then you have to order your food by scanning a QR. code at your table. There's no host to seat you, so when I saw a table that looked empty we sat there and were informed by other patrons that it was their table they'd been at the bar ordering drinks. The stools at the high-tops were uncomfortable and it was hot inside. If you're making us run back and fourth for our drinks the least you can do is crank the A/C We didn't end up eating there, even though the food looked amazing. My kids were turned off by the noise of the the people watching the game (that's fine no shade, not a kids place as we realized) but we were prepared to stay, looking at a menu on our phones is what turned us off, scrolling as opposed being able to see and flip through a whole menus was super annoying to us, add to that the face that there were no servers available to ask questions about the menu or the food. I'm willing to go back early on a weekday to try the food, but without the kids to maybe sit at the bar and get actual service. We spent $30 on two beers and 2 sodas read more

There are 2 businesses operating here, one selling food and the other beverages. At this place you have to place 2 separate orders using your phone, 1 order for food and another for drinks. Interestingly enough when you pay, they had it set up for 20% tip even though they show 18%, 20% etc and will tell you to see the cashier for a refund if you selected less than 20% The food was good, the ambience nice and food/drink delivery service okay but please explain WHY you would tip 20% or higher when all they do is deliver your food to you, nothing extraordinary about that, just saying. Kings brewing is great. There are ample tv screens if you're trying to watch a game. The staff aren't very attentive but to be fair I was there on a busy Friday. I tried the one meat plate and opted for brisket, Mac and cheese and fries. The brisket did not have any smoke on it, I'm not sure if they use a smoker or not. However the meat was cooked perfectly. It was very tender and one of the most moist briskets I've had. (I suspect they add some sort of gravy and or beef tallow prior to serving). The Mac and cheese was rich and flavorful and the fries were crispy. I was impressed at how good the sides were because most bbq spots don't have good sides. I tried the punch berries froze and it was delicious. The 4 pack was a little pricey (about $25 for 4 tall cans) but after trying it I had to take some to go. BBQ and brewery spot located in the Downtown Upland area. As a fan of Kings and craft beer (and BBQ) in general, I've been wanting to check out Kings new spot for a while now. I believe they operate as two entities under one roof here (Kings Brewing and Crazy Gringo BBQ). I only came here during the day - so I can't speak to what seems like lots of live bands here in the evening. Since I came here by myself, I probably would prefer the more relaxed daytime drinking aspect, haha. The space is clean with a good design and plenty of seating (during the day). You are able to open food tabs and order using QR codes at the table. There's a line up and bar area to order beverages. There are a few televisions in the place so you can most likely watch a game here (I came here for a college football game in addition to grabbing BBQ and beers). Everyone from the folks taking your order at the bar, the folks dropping off your food, and the people generally going around to check on you are really friendly. I ended up ordering the two item BBQ combo which came with two sides as well. I got the ribs, brisket, mac cheese, and collard greens. The sides were good and the ribs were good. I liked the brisket as well, although, the sauce added to the experience here. In terms of beer, I got the peanut butter stout. And I am a fan of Kings Brewing, but they had two guest beers on tap during this visit - a couple of barrel aged beers from Mortalis - a brewery out in NY state. I'm a huge fan of their BA beers so I of course had to order those. What a special treat! Definitely coming back. Good BBQ at a decent price and a great selection of beers. read more

Came here for a 49er watch party and had an amazing time. There are tvs pretty much everywhere you turn and the staff is very sweet. The food was good just not my fav but for the price worth it if you want some decent BBQ. The brisket was TENDER and the pulled pork was good as well but the brisket was the star. I know BBQ doesn't require BBQ sauce but I do wish the BBQ sauce here was better since I love saucing up my food. The beans were my FAVORITE full of flavor while the Mac was okay. Beer wise I tried the Elote which was ok a little too bitter for me plush they charge an extra $2 for a Tajín rim (kind of crazy if you ask me). The upland pulse was a smoother choice plus it was on a special of $7 for game day! I do recommend coming here to catch a game because I had a great time! read more

1st time coming and most likely last. We got the mini platter to share. it comes with a little bit of everything to try. Canned beans, frozen bagged fries, dry unsweetened dinner rolls, regular pickles from a jar. The coleslaw was sour for me. My partner said it was fine, not the best just fine. Pickled onions were VINEGARY, wheeeew. Definitely cleansed my palate. NO way anything was made. Tasted store bought. I couldve just bought everything and made my own lil platter. I wanted fresh, authentically made. Now the meats. The sausages were hard and little dry. Gave 7/11 sausages rotating all day. When we purchased the mini platter they did say those were the very last ones they had. Pulled pork was dry too. They only provide 1 sauce flavor. No other sauces were offered. Everything started to taste the same after a while. I'm a sauce girl so variation would've been nice. Brisket was very soft and tender. Fatty AF tho. Personally i needed a lil bit more seasoning on it. The fattiness flavor took over. I was tired of dipping in the same BBQ sauce. So ate it how it came. It took my BBQ craving away for the moment. Gonna find somewhere else tho. I dont like the fact that the Bar and Food is separate. Waiting a while in the front for someone to take our order. Soon as another customer came in, a lady came straight to help him and thanked him for giving her a gift card or something . He seems to be a regular from their conversation. We threw together a very last-minute party for my grandfather's 82nd birthday and decided to try Crazy Gringo BBQ after seeing them on Instagram. Best decision ever! We ordered 4 Chingón platters and 2 orders of wings, and everything was phenomenal. The brisket was incredibly tender and juicy, practically melting in my mouth, and the pulled pork was just as flavorful. The wings were outstanding--the sweet red chili and Parmesan flavors were the perfect appetizers. The portions were huge, so we had plenty of leftovers (they definitely don't skimp!). What impressed us even more was the hospitality. They provided plates, napkins, utensils, wet wipes, and even an entire bottle of BBQ sauce. They also helped us load everything into the car, which was such a thoughtful touch. We paired the food with some frosé and seltzers from Kings Brewing, and it was the perfect combo. One side is the Kings Brewing where you order your drinks. Finally was able to stop in at the new location. Hands down my favorite brewery out there. Came in on a saturday mid day and it was quite busy. The bbq was amazing and so was the beer. I ordered the tostada pork belly and let me tell you best pork belly ive had. The smash burger with pulled pork was also great. Crazy gringo knows what hes doing. As much as I enjoy the unique beer and lovely service; if you had been to the other location, you would walk in here thinking what on earth happened here? Nothing here tastes bad, that isn't the problem, but the insanely loud live music Thursday-Saturday and pricing of the drinks is what keeps me away. I completely understand that the vibe this establishment is now trying to bring is like that "Nashville" style bar, or perhaps like a country town looking type deal but we are in California and live music, especially on Thursdays, after work, when all I want is a beer and nice place to chill with friends, is just too much and it totally made me go to another brewery instead. Live music is cool once and a while, but it sucks to literally not wanna go drink these great beers and eat the bbq fries for the sole fact that a live band is playing obnoxiously loud Overall, I do love Kings brewing and this location is absolutely beautiful and even closer to me, but I don't think I can express enough how bad the music can be Also, for 4 full pours and 2 half pours... that came out to $70. Which yes, 6 drinks between two people ok, makes sense but I can spend about the same or even less at plenty of other local breweries for the same amount of just as good beer. No complaints about the credit card charge, although I'm unsure why that just isn't accounted for in overall pricing of the beer or food and why it's there in the first place, considering that soooo many establishments always take card and have no fees. I will always go back here and enjoy the beers, just not as often as I would like to, due to the two factors above. read more

My third visit at Kings. The first was two weeks ago just for a beer. Long line to get a beer as I was prepared for. The beer was good and cold. The second was last weekend and went with a party of 3. Got a table and beer. Then ordered the Brisket and Mac n cheese. Both absolutely delicious. I went there last night for dinner and a couple beers. Ordered a beer and a seltzer. I took a while to get served. The.food menu was hard to navigate. Cell service and the WiFi prevented us from ordering so we left. So things I observed. The service charge on the cards are $1 each time you swipe. They do take your card when you order beer so bring two cards. The WiFi needs to be upgraded to support 100+ customers. The employees needs to be coached and trained on both menus. Food and beer. The round 2/3 seat high top tables hard to seat 3/5 people. So a party of 4/6 need 2/3 tables. The beer menus need to be above the registers where you order from not 40-50 ft away on another wall. I see these as little things that have an easy fix. I will definitely try them out again because I love seeing new businesses moving in. Plus I love the beer. read more

Went here for the first time. The pros: Place was very clean, the bartenders and staff are cool, beer was decent (had the Darlene red ale). The cons: Overpriced, convoluted having two different businesses function out of the same space with two menus and two tabs, kid screaming the entire time I was there. Here's the thing, I can't put the screaming kids on the business, but when did it become cool and hip to bring kids to a brewery? When I go somewhere to have a beer, it's to relax and check out for a few. Call me crazy, but the sound of yelling kids isn't relaxing to me. And not all kids yell. But if you're the parents who havent gotten your kids to the point where they can behave in public, guess what? YOU don't get to make your unbehaved kids everyone else's problem. I couldn't even finish my overpriced beer. I just left. Aside from that, I had one pint of beer and one side order of fries. The fries were $6.50 with tax. I thought it was going to be this large order on like a plate or something. It was barely even a cup. If you smashed the fries down, it probably would have amounted to a half a cup of potato. So between the pint beer, fries and tip, it cost me almost $20. I wanted to like this place, but I won't be back any time soon. And again, I suppose Crazy Gringo BBQ deserves some of this rating, but this is what happens when you have two different businesses essentially providing one service. Update: Reading other reviews and others are complaining about the same thing regarding the price and the convoluted process of ordering off two menus and having two tabs. Then Jermeiah chimes in on their reviews saying essentially that it's on the customer to open a tab as a workaround to the fee they charge to use your card. A fee that is still $1 even with the tab. To hear your customers concerns and then still put it on them is such a terrible business practice. Rather than publicly put it on them, why not privately sit down and think of a way to improve the experience these folks are clearly expressing is inconvenient? You say, "Thank you for the feedback, and we will take it into consideration as we think of ways to improve the experience." What are you doing, dude? At least they gave you three stars and not one. They're trying to help you. This doesn't look good. read more
