Love this place, we dine here multiple times a week, lunch and dinner. Best vodka tonics around. All the servers are top shelf. They just added some new things to the menu. The surf and turf wrap is great and no one around has anything like it. Shrimp, steak, avocado, and cheese. Pastrami is good especially on marbled rye. Love the salmon dinner with succotash, the steak is good too. Have not tried the spaghetti, but I hear good things. The veggie omelette is another favorite, we add ham. Soups are all good. Our "Thirsty Thursday" group decided to meet at 1906 recently on a Thursday. There were 10 of us that showed up. One of our friends and his wife arrived a little early and got us a table. As soon as we sat down, they warned us that service was already pretty slow and that it had taken quite a while just to get his beer and her mixed drink. We all thought, okay, maybe they're just getting started and things will get better...trying to be optimistic. Unfortunately, they didn't. We ordered our food, and it took forever to come out. Most of us eventually got our food and were probably halfway through our meals when we realized one person's fish dish still hadn't made it out. When he asked about it, they told him it was still being made, which seemed a little odd considering it was a pretty simple dish and most of the table was already well into their meals. At that point, he wasn't happy and just told them to cancel the order. A few people also ordered mixed drinks, and according to them, the drinks didn't taste as expected based on what they had ordered. Then came the check. There was an automatic gratuity added because of the size of our group. We don't have a problem with an automatic gratuity for a large party, but nobody/ not even the waitress told us about it beforehand, and we didn't see it posted or noted anywhere. Given the level of service we received, that obviously didn't sit particularly well with some members of our group. There was also an odd situation with one of our friends, who is 86. She didn't want a large meal, so she ordered something from the children's menu. When the bill arrived, she had been charged for a full adult portion. When they questioned it, they were told adults aren't allowed to order from the children's menu. We had to laugh a little at that one. We can walk into McDonald's and order a Happy Meal, but apparently we can't order a kids' meal here...LOL. If that's the policy, fine, but tell the customer when they order rather than when the bill arrives. Things eventually got a little tense. One couple asked to speak with the manager and was pretty direct about the automatic gratuity, the meal that never arrived, the drinks and the overall service. The other oddity I have to mention about the automatic gratuity. When we brought it up to the manager, she told us it was up to the waitress whether or not to apply an automatic gratuity based on the size of the group. We had never heard of that being an "option"... LOL. Usually, a restaurant either has an automatic gratuity policy for larger parties or it doesn't, and if it does, it's clearly stated somewhere. So that left us wondering...what exactly is the criteria at 1906? Apply the gratuity if the group is giving you a hard time, but don't apply it if you like them..... LOL....? Who knows. We certainly didn't. A little consistency and transparency on that policy would probably go a long way. My wife and I have been to 1906 before, and we've experienced slow service there in the past, but this evening was way slow. The unfortunate part is that the food is actually good, and I do recommend giving the place a try. But based on our experiences, the service and mixed drinks can be a bit of a crapshoot, so go in prepared. Will our Thirsty Thursday group be back? Nope. There's probably a better chance of buying swampland in Barstow than getting the whole group to agree to give the place another try....LOL. Will my wife and I go back on our own? Most likely. We'll give it another shot and hope for the best. But if we continue to get the same slow service and iffy mixed drinks, at some point we may just stop going. But it won't be because we didn't give 1906 enough chances. It'll be because 1906 continued to give us reasons not to come back. read more

We are regulars here at 1906 and keep coming back because the food and drinks are very good, but the staff are the best!!!They are so hospitable and make you feel like family!!! The specials and band nights are also sooo fun!!! Those who complain about service on busy days should just stay home!!! read more

We ordered the steak nachos, and they were seriously impressive -- generously loaded with tender, well-seasoned beef, creamy sauce, fresh pico de gallo, avocado slices, and pickled onions. The acidity from the pico and onions nicely balanced the richness of the cheese and chips, so it never felt too heavy. Plenty of meat in every bite. The setting overlooking the green is relaxed and scenic, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Happy hour makes it an even better deal with a couple dollars off. Let me just say, I WANT to love this place. I live within walking distance, I love their menu, I love the view, and I love small businesses. It's a perfect situation! But...nearly every time I come to visit I am unfortunately let down and it's really never the same issue. I've ordered eggs benedict a handful of times and at least 75% of the time, they come out either over done or under done. The best part of eggs benedict, is a perfectly cooked egg yolk (IYKYK)! I took family here for the Mother's Day Brunch and unfortunately our experience wasn't great for that. I took friends visiting from out of state here before their flight home and we sat for almost an hour (in an empty restaurant on a Sunday?) waiting for our food and they almost missed their flight back. I ate lunch here after a round of golf and our food came out cold. So as much as I want to pinpoint one area that they could improve on, unfortunately my experiences have varied so much that I can't. With that said, there is SO MUCH potential here. I have had good food and good service at times and it's not always a bad experience. It's just gotten to the point where the bad experiences are standing out more than the good ones. Some might say a toss up. Walking into this golf course restaurant, I expected a nice ambiance, but it felt more like a very small, inexpensive banquet room. I really think Upland can do better here. On the positive side, Daisy is an absolute gem. She was funny, engaging, and completely on top of her game. She brought our food quickly and checked on us often. Unfortunately, there was an older gentleman who had clearly been over-served. He wasn't belligerent--just slow to respond. The manager (maybe the bartender or bouncer) handled the situation very loudly and made a scene while telling him to leave. It was disruptive and uncomfortable to watch. Since he was over-served, the situation definitely called for more empathy. Food: The rib appetizer was good. My "spicy" shrimp lettuce wraps were about as spicy as ketchup. They were advertised as having sambal, but they had no heat at all. The chicken pot pie was huge, but not your traditional creamy version--it was more of a broth than a gravy. read more

1906 Inc is located in Upland at the Upland Hills Country Club. (Please note this is open to the public - you do NOT need a tee time or membership to come)! There is a large parking lot with plenty of parking. At this location you'll find indoor and outdoor seating with a lovely patio area complete with umbrellas for warmer days and heaters for the chilly ones ... we chose to sit outside, it was a beautiful day and enjoyed watching the ducks on the green as well as the fountain. I truthfully didn't expect the food to be as good as it was !! The chef here is doing great things ! We started with the shrimp lettuce cups - sauce was amazing, just a little kick to it! We also tried the Catalina sandwich with fries - flavorful and amazing, crispy fries ! Then went with the chorizo eggs Benedict and WOW what a show stopper it was!! We had a round of golf to get to and were pleasantly surprised when our waitress told us she woke bring us plastic cups because we were allowed to take them to go on the course ! Amazing ! Our waitress Emma was awesome , very sweet and made recommendations when asked . She was very attentive to us. They offer taco Tuesday specials, brunch and currently are offering MLB specials as the baseball season just started. We've truly fallen in love with the experience we receive every time we stop in to the point we now also attend Taco Trivia on Tuesdays, we requested they host my bridal shower, and we now visit just about every Sunday for their Brunch. Joanna, Daisy, Summer, Bella, Haven, are all so very amazing! They have all taken the time to get to know not only myself and my husband, but also our daughter who especially loves to visit every single one of them. We're always greeted with hugs and each of them always make it a point to stop by our table to take the time to converse with us and catch up on our weeks. AMBIANCE Very impressed. Since this is part of or next to the Country Club, the all around vibe was nice at home ambiance. Not a busy day for a Thursday FOOD The food or wings were excellent. Cooked nicely with great flavor. I do wish there was an option for a larger portion. SERVICE Service was outstanding!! 10/10 INCIDENT During my visit on Thursday. A customer(s) or now an 86'd customer(s) did not pay their entire bill. They walked out basically. The entire scene was unfortunate. Joanna was in Pursue ( rightly so ) to locate the fleeing customers...Without going in to all the details...The issue was resolved. Joanna now.. I wanted to personally recognize Joanna and her professionalism. She handled the incident while remaining calm. She was very civil and surprisingly, kept a smile on her face during the incident and with the current guests in the pub. This was amazing to watch! It was like watching a movie scene I want to emphasize once again, on her demeanor and politeness. After visiting the main restaurant a few times & leaving very impressed, I decided to try the banquet hall for last years cheer team Christmas party. It was perfect! After several requests for 1906 again, we decided to do a repeat this year & it was even better than last year. Alyssa made the booking process easy & was a pleasure to work with, even thru all our last-minute add-ons. The french toast brunch was delicious & the dance floor made a perfect area for our games. The venue itself is beautiful with a huge verandah overlooking the golf course. Both the restaurant & event venue are great. First time: had dinner on a night that MLB playoffs were on. Indoor part of the restaurant is small. A large tv accompanied by a few other tvs so you have a view at any seat. The whole set up is very casual and basic. Service was great. Food: tri tip tacos with chimichurri. Very tasty. Comes with a half plate of tortilla chips.
