Beautiful pleasant little spot with even more pleasant rooftop seating that offers fantastic views of Claremont and the mountains north of us. Service from check in to leaving was very nice. Server (young slim gentlemen with longish hair whose name I'm sorry I forgot) was courteous, informative and helpful with taking care of putting our leftovers in a box. Girlfriend and I got espresso martini and their seasonal drink that had lychee and tasted like the most refreshing drink I've ever had in the area. All from his recommendation. I forgot the names of the food we got, but everything from the appetizers to entries were thoroughly delicious and perfectly satiating. Portions were great also. Inside downstairs seating looks very nice also but it's not terribly spacious, if it isn't already apparent to some. I've been through all the iterations of this place over the last 20 years. I missed when La Picoletta closed and there were some rough years as they the different owners tried to find a winning formula. The current ownership has hit a home run. This is the best place to eat in the dreaded Inland Empire. I will put the creativity, quality, and seasonal change menu against anything in LA or OC. As a resident of Las Vegas where great food is on every corner Uno Tre Otto is on par with any small local restaurant anywhere. Go be adventurous and try something new. Just came to eat here recently and our experience was so enjoyable :) we were able to get a table a little bit before our reservations and our server McKinley was very helpful and friendly! She helped us navigate around the menu as it was our first time and her recommendations helped me so much. The restaurant looks so nice inside and although isn't a big space did not feel crowded which I appreciate! They also played really catchy music and everyone was chatty and lively :)) For our appetizer we got Amy's mix salad which was fresh and a perfect starter as well as the bread and butter. I would definitely get it again :D My boyfriend got the rigatoni allá bolognese and it was amazing, the meat sauce was very tasty. I got the pollo arrosto and the chicken was cooked and seasoned perfectly and paired very well with the greens. We ended the night with the butterscotch Budino recommended by McKinley. Sat out on the roof top on a warm early evening which was really nice. Our server was really nice, she was extremely attentive and was excellent. Started off with a cocktail, was a whiskey drink with grapefruit and honey, simple and delicious. Had a fish ceviche and bread with buratta, crispy pork belly. Both were very good. My wife and I were not super hungry so shared a pesto pasta dish, the best had broccoli in it. Was a very good pasta dish. Probably would not order it again if it was me but will say my wife is a big pesto fan, I can go either way. I am a ragu or tomato base sauce guy. Overall I thought the prices were reasonable, not cheap by any means but not as expensive as I expected. And since the food is all locally sourced and farm to table. Right when we walked in, I noticed how cozy and classic the atmosphere felt it has that warm, inviting vibe that makes it great for a relaxed dinner. We ordered a few dishes to share: the homemade bread and butter, tagliatelle, beet salad (thankfully without goat cheese), bolognese, bistecca, and the cod. Everything was well prepared and nicely balanced. For dessert we tried the butterscotch budino. I know it's a popular item that many people rave about, but for me it was just okay it leaned a bit on the sweeter side and almost felt like eating whipped cream. Still a fun dessert concept though. Parking was surprisingly easy as well we found free street parking nearby with no meter, which made the whole experience even more convenient. Perfect weather and cool setting was a plus. Like always, the food was delicious... from the appetizer, main course, to the dessert. I love their food. This time instead of wine, I tried a cocktail I wish I remembered the name because it was my new fave. I managed to have 2 during the meal. The only damper to the evening was our server , however, she is human so maybe she was just having a bad day. She wasn't mean, you could just tell she was "Meh". My boyfriend took me here to celebrate my birthday. :) He made reservations for 8:30 PM for the rooftop seating. We arrived about 15 minutes early, but were seated around 8:40 PM. Not too bad of a wait considering we came early. The ambiance was phenomenal. While there a crazy spectacular view, the vibes were there. Low lighting and relaxing vibes. The tables were pretty close together, but it didn't seem crowded at all. I read in a review that the chairs weren't comfortable, but my boyfriend and I didn't feel like that was an issue. I got a Negroni as my go to drink- made to perfection. The ratios were perfect and the slice of orange peel really amplified the taste. For our appetizers/ entrees, we ordered the freshly baked bread and butter, pappardelle al granchio and cioppino. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients. Compliments to the chef because we can taste the heart and soul he pours into his dishes. My Pappardelle was cooked al dente and there were huge portions of wild caught blue crab in the mix. Each bite was SO DELICIOUS. While the portions weren't mega huge, we left feeling full and not bloated. My boyfriend will tell you that he's crazy about their cultured butter and maldon sea salt! I was a huge fan as well. :) To end the night, we opted for their night cap for dessert. The night cap included three homemade sourdough chocolate cookies with a glass of bartenders pick of amaro. Our waitress was kind to add a candle into the cookies to make the night a little extra special. The dessert was the perfect ending to an awesome birthday dinner. We sat for the 5 pm dinner seating and our host took us up to the second floor area. While the first floor was lively and noisy, the second floor was quiet and frankly more romantic. We could have a conversation in a low voice and enjoy our meal listening to the background music being played. The second floor has rustic wooden tables and chairs. There were heater lamps to keep us warm. We enjoyed the appetizers: Spicy Polenta, bread service, and Amy's Mix Salad. We had the Santa Barbara Rock Cod and Pollo Arrosto as our main entrees. Our server was Martin and he was extremely helpful with us selecting our food. All of the people there were very welcoming and friendly. We started out with a couple of glasses of Rosso di Montalcino. They have quite a selection of wine and spirits. The Spicy Polenta was nice and creamy with just the right amount of seasoning. The Blistered Beans were also delicious with a wonderful burst of flavors. My wife had selected the Casarecce with mushrooms and would only let me have one forkful to try because it was so delicious. I had selected the Rigatoni and it just as delicious as the Casaresse. The pasta was cooked just right. The tuna with potatoes was rich but not heavy, with dill and other herbs as the main refreshing note. I also love that they partner with a local bakery, Crème, for the bread. Pasta was Al dente and my mushroom dish was nice and earthy, but also had a good dose of something acidic (maybe lemon) and other flavors to balance it out. Service was okay, nothing much to note on. From the moment we arrived, the night went downhill. From check-in to check-out, the service and ambiance were a total miss. The kitchen ventilation system was a loud distraction all evening. We were seated on the patio near the entrance, very close to the source of the noise, and it was hard to ignore. I'm confident the system is in serious need of maintenance because the noise was excessive and didn't seem normal. To make matters worse, our server came over just a couple minutes after we sat down and rushed us through our drink and food order, but then each course arrived late, especially our main course. Dish after dish went by while we waited, and ours never came. My husband even overheard the server asking the kitchen why our table hadn't received our food, and it became clear our dishes were missed and hadn't been made. When my pasta finally arrived, it was lukewarm and overly salty. It honestly pains me to write this, but | left extremely disappointed, not only with the food but with the overall experience.
