Came here with a friend for the first time and we ended up ordering lattes, the Stuffed Artichoke, Fettuccini Carbonara, Chicken Cannelloni, and the cheesecake. I really enjoyed the presentation of everything, like the dishes and the lattes were very cute and aesthetic! Our waiter was also really nice and helpful with recommendations. The pastas did take a while to arrive though... As for the food: The sugar cubes definitely helped sweeten the latte, and I think I'd order it again. I absolutely loved the Stuffed Artichoke! The creaminess and cheesiness were amazing, and I'd 100% get it again! The Fettuccini Carbonara was good, but if I came back, I'd want to try something different. It had been a while since going to one of our favorite spots in Laverne. We did go in on Mother's Day so wasn't sure how crazy it was going to be. Made reservation for 4:00pm when they normally open for dinner. When we go there there were already a few tables that had been served. Found out the stayed open since lunch since it was Mother's Day . Would have liked it if I was given an option to eat earlier. Brought my own wine so felt the $20 corkage fee was reasonable. We sat outside right away. Service was a little slow even though they were not that busy when we got there. I think it was our server as the other servers responded quickly with orders and follow up. My carbonara was just OK. The rich tasting runny egg was cooked too long and was more like a hard boiled egg. I ordered the penne explosive and my fiancé ordered the carbonara. Carbonara was really creamy and delicious and came with a poached egg on top as a protein. Penne explosive and bread on the side were both good. One pasta dish plus a salad is easily enough for two people. It was raining when we went and we sat on the covered patio. It's a cheese lover's delight. The beverage also comes included! Coupled with the intimate, romantic aesthetic, Allegro - La Verne delivers exceptional value for such decadent Italian food. However, Allegro - La Verne can be easily nitpicked. Not all menu items are good value. For example, the calamari appetizer ($17) is delicious but extremely tiny! Most calamari resembled the size of Cheerio cereal bits (Photos Attached). Horrendous value if ordered without the Happy Hour deals. In addition, the menus were all smudgy and old; the tiny plates have smudged watermarks from improper drying; complimentary bread is not offered; and the limited, friendly staff rarely check-in on the guests. Allegro - La Verne attempts to portray themselves as fine dining, but its resources are too limited and stretched thin to reach that aspiration. Regardless, Allegro - La Verne is an absolutely wonderful location for delectable, quality Italian meals for lunch. The beautiful, romantic location is filled with college students in business casual attire and elderly office workers due to such stellar lunch deals. I arrived on a weekday (around 1PM). They offered indoor and outdoor patio seating, and I'd chosen to dine outside. Romantic, slow music echoed from the speakers. Instrumental and Italian songs played gently. The waitress (Katherine) is extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful when available. Katherine never provided her name, but it was listed on the receipt. Katherine happily explained the menu items in extensive detail, and Katherine spoke with a pleasant smile and upbeat demeanor. Unfortunately, it appears all servers appeared to only order, drop food, and leave. It's difficult to find any staff otherwise. I ordered the Calamari ($17) and the Fettuccini Alfredo Express Lunch ($17). The Express Lunch comes with a beverage; I selected Passion Iced Tea. The Passion Iced Tea arrived in one minute and 30 seconds. It's unsweetened and refreshing. The Calamari arrived in 11 minutes and 30 seconds. As mentioned prior, the portion arrived dinky and small at $17. Thankfully, it was breaded well and tasted fresh. The Fettuccini Alfredo arrived at the 20 minute mark. And as mentioned prior, it's spectacular! [Note: The Express Lunch (11AM to 3PM) is offered Monday to Friday. The location is also near a public parking lot. In addition, there's plenty of nearby street parking.] Overall, Allegro - La Verne offers spectacular Express Lunch Specials with a romantic ambiance. We came in for a little Italian dinner in old town La Verne. The outdoor seating was relaxing and cozy. The menu was traditional Italian items and the wine list was decent. Hubby had a Vesper martini and he was glad the bartender knew how to make it. I had a bottle of Rose to myself. For food we had bruschetta, sausage pasta and baked pasta. Everything was so comforting in large portions. Italian food is one of my favorite foods so I enjoyed it very much, our waitress was very attentive and friendly. Came here with my mom's friends and boyfriend after her church concert. The food was delicious! I love that you can substitute any type of pasta in a specific dish. The service was great! I had such a great experience at this Italian restaurant, and a big part of that was our server, Gabby. From the moment we sat down, she was welcoming, attentive, and genuinely kind. Gabby knew the menu well, gave great recommendations, and checked in at just the right times. Everything came out smoothly, and you could tell she truly cares about her customers' experience. I have been a patron of Caffe Allegro for almost 4 years. My overall experience has always been very good. On Friday Jan, 16th I was celebrating my belated birthday with my friends at Caffe Allegro. We took a few bottles of wine and Kristen was our waitress. She always does a wonderful job. My friend opened the 3rd bottle of wine, since Kristen was busy. All of a sudden, we were approached by a lady with an unpleasant attitude. She introduced herself as the office manager. My first impression, before she spoke, was that she was homeless. She then proceeded to tell us that there are so many people in uniform that we can't get away with not paying the $20.00 corkage fee. I have been dining at this establishment for the past four years. I have never considered leaving this type of review. I've always been more than satisfied by this establishment, and many times tip as much as 50%. Caffe Allegro owns Bardot restaurant in Claremont which is managed by Hector who is very professional. We never have had any problems for as long as we have dined there. To make a long story short this office manager, who apparently was the acting manager that day, did not know how to handle the situation. This incident could have been settled in an amicable way, but she chose to be nasty and belligerent. In other words you don't have to be attractive in order to have a good attitude. Came here for a nice dinner on a weeknight and had a great experience. We got seated quickly and ordered a few drinks. The drinks themselves were alright, they were more strong than anything. I ordered the Pomegranate Martini and it was just a bit too sour for my liking. I ordered the Fettuccine Carbonara and it was out of this world. The pancetta they used was super crunchy which had a nice contrast to the egg they had on top of the pasta. I was savoring every bite because I loved it so much. I'm sorry to give a bad score. Those who read my reviews know that I'm very objective about my review. The service is very good and our server was very nice. The cocktails were great. The Linguini with clams was very good. The seared ahi I ordered was not 'seared' at all, but over cooked (you can see in the photo), I could only eat 2 pieces. You may be thinking why didn't I send it back. I have been in the hospitality business for over 40 years and one piece of advice is to be careful when sending food back. You may get something extra back, if the person doesn't appreciate the food being sent back. Not saying this restaurant would do anything like that. It's just a personal choice not to send anything back, hoping that the manager or server would recognize that the meal was not eaten. I report this with the hope that this will be a teachable moment. Maybe I should have ordered something more Italian, but I believe if a restaurant has an item on the menu, then it should prepare all the dishes to best. The arugula salad that accompanied the meal was excellent. Bread service is an extra charge,but was worth it. There's plenty of street parking and there's a parking lot across the street. This rating is for the last 4 times we've been to this restaurant, 2 dinners and two lunches, within the last 7 months. I find the dinner service and food to be better and more consistent. I cannot eat a pasta meal, so I go for protein entrees such as the chicken picatta or chicken parm. Both are done very well and marinara sauce is good. Last time the late lunch parm was burned on bottom and was brought to their attn and handled well by the manager. Food is generous. The crispy calamari was very tasty, not oily and not tasting like the oil needed changing in the fryer. Decent wine list. We took advantage of free wine corkage on a Tuesday night. Beware of this restaurant, waitress from Saturday is making decisions that can shut down this place. It's called "deceptive practices because of a potential higher tip! I got there knowing what I wanted because I viewed their menu online ahead of time. I pulled my phone out and pointed out what I wanted and mentioned the discrepancy of the prices. So, she replied that is the lunch menu--online, I said perfect since I was there slightly after 12:00. I was not trying to get away w/anything. In fact, I even placed an order to go. Well, here comes the bill, I asked what happened with the conversation we had about the lunch (1/2) order, she presented it never happened. In fact, she said "I keep telling the owner to change the online menu," then literally walked away. I was so angry and honestly, I should have NOT tipped her. Allegro was the perfect spot for our team's holiday celebration--festive vibes, great ambiance, and plenty of good food... well, for those of us who had a seat! Unfortunately, our dear colleague (who shall remain nameless... for now) apparently skipped math class because she miscounted the RSVPs. The result?
