Judging from the fiery heat that blasted outtve my plentiful order of Pasta Arrabbiata, I'd venture that my particular entree's personality was, indeed, zesty and irascible...to the point of inedible. On this particular weeknight, your favorite Yelp correspondent was pivoting in and out of Glendora's Food Hall like a metronome, ferrying a quartet of meals from the hall for my wee Uber gig. Pastaphony caught my attention within moments of nesting my customer's order into my insulated carrier- my SUV's cabin was redolent of cheese, tomatoes and overall hone-cooked goodness! I went with Pasta Arrabbiata, then customized my order by adding a breaded chicken breast, black olives, onions, roasted peppers and shaved parmesan. On the plus side, Pastaphony gives ample portions- My entree weighed almost as much as a two-item combo platter from your friendly neighborhood Chinese takeout place! And, while the dish took me to Flavortown...unfortunately it was the Mojave Desert, with its scorching flavor profile and intense, spicy taste. The star of the dish was the breaded chicken cutlet and the shaved parm, but since the penne pasta overwhelmed the chicken/parm by an eight to one ratio...this was a difficult dish to finish. Context- As the acknowledged "lightweight" in a family of folks who typically relish spicy food, I asked my wife to sample my dish. She was born in Michoacacan and regularly quaffs homegrown Serrano and Habanero peppers like they're ice. Even she was surprised by how utterly spicy my pasta dish was! My entree cost $26.39 after taxes, a wee steep for a single protein pasta dish. By comparison, you can spend $1 more at any Johnny Carinos or Olive Garden and get a three-item combo with bread and/or salad accompaniments. So I wasn't satisfied by the "value for money" question, either. The food is tasty, portions are generous and the service was good. It's located in the food hall on Arrow Hwy in Glendora. Nothing over the top about, but good. I debated giving 4 vs 3 stars because the back of the TV menu boards are really dirty. Luckily it's not on the side where the food comes out or is cooked, but still... I hope they succeed in this location. The help looked bored as they didn't have many customers; maybe smiling or asking if you needed help or offering suggestions could improve that. Inside and outside seatings are shared by all food vendors within this public market. Love its orange decor colors! PASTA, PASTA, PASTA!!! They offer signature pastas or you may build your own pasta. Breakfast items, salads, breads, drinks, and desserts are also available. I ordered via the kiosk, but you can order via the counter. I was debating to get the Fettuccine Truffle Mushroom with grilled chicken or the Spaghetti Bacon Garlic Butter. I went with the latter. It looked really good in the picture. It looked really good in front of me. However, it didn't have any WOW flavor IMHO... just butter, bacon, and spaghetti as what's in the name of the pasta dish. Taste was just okay. Portions was decent. Hence, 3 stars! Staff was friendly and helpful. Wait time was about 15-20 minutes... not too bad. Pricing was a bit higher than the norm for pasta. We got the chicken parm, chicken Alfredo, and garlic bread! The owner was very sweet and friendly! Lots of outdoor seating, some indoor seating. Although our experience was nice, the pasta wasn't great, it was very much below average, the Alfredo needed salt, and the chicken parm was very tart and sour. And the sauce was a bit watered down, you can tell the chicken was premade. Which I wouldn't care so much about if the price wasn't so steep for the taste and quality. I was very disappointed as our totaled came to about $60 for mediocre pasta, unfortunately for the price it's not worth the it in my opinion. Big portions too so the price of 20ish dollars felt worth. Truffle flavors were kinda weak though but everything else was tasty. I visited the Glendora public market and noticed a few new restaurants. I was looking for something light and decided to try their salads. The menu looks great, I really wanted to try their salads pasta but, I stuck with the Cesar salad. The cashier was super sweet and ordering was a breeze. The salad was a great choice, they give you a nice portion of protein and the dressing was already mixed it. My only issue with the salad was it was plated in a round container with a lid. I wish it was plated in an actual dish to avoid soggy croutons and warm salad. Since the chicken was fresh off the grill, it made everything warm and I prefer a cold crispy salad. I love LOVE that you can customize your pasta (they also do have signature pastas listed on their menu too). The lady that helped us at the counter was sweet. Our two pasta bowl order took like 15 minutes or less. Fast takeout wait time. She provided crushed red pepper packets and one grated Parmesan cheese packet. However, she forgot to supply napkins in the bag. A slight oversight but doesn't deter from the awesome customer service and quality pasta! Would come back. If you get raviolis, it's swimming in a soup of Alfredo sauce but if you get it with fettuccini noodles there's barely any sauce at all and it's dry. They put way too much pepper in it too.
