Chicken Gyro bowl.
Leanne V.

I've ordered from this place a few times and it's always been consistently good. I have ordered through Uber Eats and a few times have gone in to order. Staff is always friendly and the prices are great too especially when they offer specials on Uber Eats. I love the chicken gyro/ salad bowls , so tasty & healthy alternative to fast food. Definitely recommend if you haven't tried it.

Updated review: 5/5 Stars for Hospitality! 7 months later and we are met with the same warm and welcoming energy and greeting from Christian at the front! We never forgot him from last time because he was so helpful and really hospitable and kind. Thank you for same warm and welcoming energy! *He even made sure the music wasn't to loud for our baby who was sleeping. 5/5 Stars for Food! Still yummy and tasty-- my wife and I got the Greek Fries (garlic and feta), the Mediterranean bowl, and the lamb/beef Gyro. All really good! Don't forget their Honey & Baklava Froyo! Still really enjoy it as dessert after all the garlic and savory salted favors. Overall 5 out of 5 Stars! Experience continues to be really good. Glad they are in our area and will continue to come here for a nice meal with the family! Come out and try out Nick's!

Great addition to the area. Always enjoyed eating at the location in Newport. Great food, and service! Clean and cool inside on a warm day! Highly recommend the beef/lamb gyro!

Gyro pita
Eric L.

I like it when the gyro comes carved off a roasting spit. There are usually charred bits that are sometimes crunchy. The gyro in this pita and in the side order had zero hint of any charring. It makes me wonder if the meat is pre sliced deli style gyro you see at some lower end fast food places.

Don't eat here unless you are looking for a meat serving that would only satisfy a toddler.

Was addicted to this Dubai Chocolate Froyo

Very tasty food! Everything was fresh looked beautiful. I tried the Dubai ice cream and I did not think the Dubai with the yogurt ice cream was going to be so freakin delicious. I was addicted. The restaurant was clean and well taken care of. The staff were nice and pleasant. Definitely recommend.

Mediterranean Bowl with Pita

Decided to stop by here instead of flame broiler and I'm glad I did! Friendly staff member. I did not catch his name but he went through the menu with me and offered me some recommendations! Customer service was A+. Clean inside seatings and there's a few outside seatings. I got the beef medeterrian bowl and added a combo that comes with pita and a drink for $3.75 more. I was concern the beef would be dry but it was moist! Rice was flavorful and salad had a nice dressing on it. Only thing here is...I wish there was an extra scoop of hummus! At least for me, I had extra pita left over and had no more hummus.. Staff member did recommended the gyro bowl which I'll need to stop by to try.

I've been here multiple times and have gotten the gyro bowl on many occasions. I used to get my gyro bowl with half chicken and half beef/lamb. But the last time I visited they wouldn't let me get half and half anymore. So, maybe that was only available when they first opened. Food has been consistent and really good. Food comes out in a timely manner. Place is clean. Parking is easy. Service can be a hit or miss.

TBH this place was one of the choices cause it was closest to us while we ran our demands. After parking in the garage, we gathered our dog and popped in fur lunch. Our server Derrick is memorable, exceptional, patient, knowledgeable, quick, intelligent, and friendly. The place is so amazingly designed. My husband was having a difficult day and Derrick truly had the best people skills navigating us through the menu and the tough day. Truly, after the whole 2020 pandemic thing - dining out has just about lost its shine and charm, but the restaurant's layout and the human experience Derrick brought to us was reminiscent of a time before. My husband felt at ease and even ordered a glass of wine which he took the recommendation with immediacy. He is usually resistant to suggestions too. Highly resistant. So that was even more pivotal to the experience. Our dog was even in the happiest of moods. All around this was therapeutic AND I haven't even go to the food yet. Wow. The FOOD. THE EFFING FOOOOOD!!!! Whatever the cook needs give it. The texture and creaminess plus tanginess of the tzatziki- it was delicious and perfect. The lemon potatoes - they reminded me so much of my grandma's growing up. The lunch special was excellent and truly it's a staple in Los Angeles dining because where else? For sure this is one of my favorites from here on out. My dog, my husband, and myself all satisfied. The day changed entirely after coming here- truly. This is a diamond of a place. Thank you.

JUST WOW! I am seriously impressed! I honestly did not expect to find Greek / Mediterranean type…read morefood this good in Yucaipa. The Fat Greek definitely exceeded my expectations. FIVE THUMBS UP! We started with the falafel balls, dolmades, and hummus with pita bread. All three appetizers were delicious! What a great way to start our meal. They definitely set the bar high. For our main dishes, we ordered the chicken gyro and the beef kabob plate. The chicken gyro was pretty good! Great flavors, although the chicken was a little on the dry side. I would personally give the chicken gyro 4 stars. Now, the beef kabob was a different story. Flavorful, tender, and absolutely delicious! My only complaint? THE PRICE! At $25.99, I expected a little more than just ONE beef kabob with a generous amount of rice, salad, and pita bread on top. My wife and I LOVE Mediterranean food, and we've been to plenty of places that offer two meat selections with rice, salad, AND hummus for around $25. So compared to what we're used to, this plate definitely felt overpriced. But here's the thing. GOOD FOOD IS GOOD FOOD! Despite my complaints about the portion sizes and pricing, I couldn't bring myself to give this place anything less than 5 stars. The quality of the food, the delicious flavors, and those amazing appetizers really won us over. Would I love to see more meat for that price? ABSOLUTELY! But would I come back? WITHOUT A DOUBT! The Fat Greek, you impressed us! Keep up the delicious food, but maybe show a little more love with those meat portions!

I normally pay digitally, but I had cash on me and haven't had a chance to deposit it into my bank. Unfortunately, they told me they didn't have enough change for the $100 bill. I understand that businesses can occasionally run low on change, but this was extremely inconvenient. I was short on time, hungry, had more than enough money to pay for my food, and still almost had to leave without my order because the establishment couldn't accept my cash payment. What made the experience more disappointing was when I asked the cashier for a phone number or someone I could contact to share my experience and provide feedback. I was told she didn't know of any number and wasn't given another way to contact a manager or someone in charge. I ended up making several calls myself to find someone who could send me money digitally. Eventually I was able to get the money sent to me and pay for my order, but I shouldn't have had to go through all of that just to pay for a $25 meal when I was standing there with cash in hand. I'm not leaving this review because I expect every business to always have unlimited change. I'm leaving it because I think a restaurant should be prepared to accept normal cash transactions or, at minimum, have a reasonable solution when they can't. And when a customer asks how they can provide feedback about their experience, there should be a way to direct them to management. It turned what should have been a quick food stop into an unnecessarily stressful and time-consuming experience. I wish i could post a positive review on the food, but that definitely ruined my experience.

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask…read more All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. The staff also wears gloves when handling food. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is available for take outs and has some indoor & outdoor seating available with some indoor limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers.  COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination.  While I was here eating my food in this establishment a month ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. But this isn't strictly enforced. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is incredibly small. They have valet parking. I urge you to park on the street. However, be wary of the signs. On one side, there is a no parking sign on Wednesdays from 12PM - 3PM. On the other side, it says no parking on Thursdays from 12PM - 3PM. Basically don't go there on Monday and Tuesday (they are closed) and Wednesday and Thursdays for horrible street parking. It is a shame that a cute mom and pop restaurant closed. I am sad that I did not know about it sooner. I would have came more frequently. They have been opened since 1948. Very impressive! Food: I ordered a baklava, spanakopita, and gyro sandwich. The house made baklava went perfect with my coffee the next day. A delicious start to a new day. The baklava combines layers of honey-soaked crisp phyllo pastry and a cinnamon-scented nut mixture with pistachios, walnuts, and hazelnut. To me, nothing rivals homemade baklava. The texture of crispy and flaky phyllo pastry. The crunchy filling. And the warm honey syrup. It is all I want in a dessert / breakfast. The spanakopita was very delicious and filling. This spanakopita had sauteed spinach, feta cheese and seasonings, all wrapped up in phyllo dough and baked until golden brown and crisp. It's the perfect blend of spinach, cheese, onions, and herbs in a buttery crust. It was very savory. The gyro sandwich was so mouthwatering. My gyro sandwich included succulent, marinated, and seasoned lamb and beef grilled to perfection. Then it was wrapped up with fresh tomatoes, onions, lettuce, and feta cheese in warm, soft, and slightly chewy pita, and slathered in delicious homemade creamy tzatziki sauce. I got a pistachio yogurt bar from their mini deli and market area. It was so nutty, creamy, and rich. Perfect for a hot summer's day. I love that they use real pistachio with yogurt to make it. None of the fake artificial stuff was used. Glad I didn't offer my close friend a bite of this otherwise he would have suffered a severe allergic reaction in the restaurant. That would have made the dining experience incredibly memorable, and not in a good way LOL I love that they have a complimentary water station for customers to grab as much water as they want. Staff: The staff here are very kind, friendly, and helpful. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

After leaving DTLA to work in the suburbs, I haven't been back and sad to say, it took a looming permanent closure to bring me back. What I loved about the place is still tried and true: a free parking lot (just need to tip the valet) and delicious Greek good. I don't eat lamb so my go to back then was the fish sandwich. I got it again, over 10 years later, and it is still as good as remembered. Prices have doubled (what can you expect in our current economy T_T), but the portion is still generous and the food still fresh and yummy. I brought BF and we ordered a spread enough for a family of four: spanakopita, tiropita, sausage appetizer, gyro sandwich, beef kefta patties sandwich (they were out of the beef kebab), fish sandwich, chicken kebab plate, and loukoumades dessert. Everything was fresh, light and delicious (okay, the dessert was a little too sweet for me)! We also grabbed a $3.99 baguette from the connected market. If you're planning on coming for one last visit before they close that first weekend of May 2025, make sure to come early and queue in the front of the store. The line will move and there should still be plenty of seating available after you order. If you come within the last 30 minutes before closing, you'll have to order to go. The employees here are still as courteous and friendly as ever. We were also jazzed to be graced with the presence of Chrys Chrys himself on our visit. We will miss you, Papa Cristo's!

*****TLDR- uncooked falafel*****…read more It's the first Greek restaurant I have been to where the falafel was completely uncooked. I have eaten dry falafels and under cooked falafels in the past but never came across falafels where the inside was a raw slurry like paste. Too high cooking heat, too much water in the batter can cause this. Disappointed to say the least as this place is highly recommended by yelpers and made its place in Yelp top 100 as well. I did talk to our waitress about the falafel, she agreed they were uncooked and she got us a couple of extra as compensation. Unfortunately the new batch was more raw and undercooked than what we were originally served. They seriously need to figure out what's wrong and fix it. Though I hate wasting food, all the falafels were inedible and we had to throw them. Falafels aside, rest of the items were actually pretty decent. Barring the pita bread which tasted non descript, the chicken was beautifully cooked, the sauces were all amazing. The garlic dip was the best. They also had a green chilli sauce, I loved the heat from this one. The rice was unique as well, some kind of herbaceous flavor and nice separate grains of rice. Not a fan of fries but the ones here were actually delicious. Nice crispy coating and with the garlic dip the combo was stellar.
