The entirety of my order history from Urbane Cafe is one Salmon bowl after the next. I loved it the first time I bought it and have been consistently ordering it. The last couple of times, portion sizes have gotten smaller and smaller. If it is a matter of training employees to fill up the boil to what it should be, then that is advisable. If it is a matter of inflation and the restaurant is trying to remain profitable, that's understandable. But then offer different sizes of bowls at different pricing. It makes the customer feel like they are being played when you charge the same but portions are completely inconsistent. read more

My friend was up from OC to hang out, and I remembered Urbane Cafe had a really good menu with vegan/vegetarian options. She ordered the Tofu Bahn MI and Portobello mushroom (no cheese) sandwiches. I had planned ahead, and did the Crunchy Peanut Salad, subbed chicken with Tofu, extra Endamame, (I forgot to request remove honey peanuts), and asked if peanut dressing was vegan- Mike, the cashier, went back to check with kitchen, and yes, ingredients were only peanut butter, soy sauce, rice vinegar & tamari! Perfect! The manager, Matthew, delivered our food to our table, and he said that Mike made sure the focaccia bread on side for me was wrapped separate, as it was vegan, yet in kitchen with possible cross contamination. Matthew said they are very conscientious if a customer is vegan or vegetarian to be mindful of their orders. I was completely blown away! Love this place! I never feel guilty about eating ANYTHING on the menu, as every item is fresh, natural, and full of goodness. The only exception to the rule is the cookies sold here, and even then, I close my eyes when I bite into them so that I won't see or feel guilty :) The menu is extensive, and every item is freshly prepared and delicious! I really love the Urbane Cafe location in Azusa! What makes this place extra awesome is Matthew, the General Manager! He has amazing customer service and always greets with a smile! This past week, I went in to order my usual and Matthew has it memorized! I told him I'd wait for my food outside and less than a minute, he brought me my order. At first when I started coming here, I thought it was just OK. However, my kids love this place so we've been coming here more and more. The food here is very fresh. The bread is freshly baked in their oven and their prices are very fair. Their service has always been stellar and everybody here seems to be very happy and nice. Seared Ahi Tuna Bowl: 5/5, I've gotten this a couple of times before and it's always been very consistent! The tuna pairs well with the ponzu, rice, and veggies. Besides the tuna, the BEST PART was the bread wedge that comes on the side and it left me wanting moreee. Although it was $13.95, the ingredients were high quality and the meal was delicious. Urbane Cafe has online ordering pick-up and a seating area for dine-in. We ordered for dine-in and waited less than 10 minutes for the food! Service is quick and efficient-- you order your food at the counter and sit inside to dine in. I loved the white chocolate cranberry cookie and chimichurri steak sandwich I tried. The cookie was warm (baked fresh) and had a nice chew to it, and the steak sandwich was made with fresh bread! The price was great too (less than $15 for a sandwich and salad, which is hard to come by these days), especially since the food was fresh, high quality, and healthy! I have tried a good amount of things here and liked a handful of items. This has been a great lunch spot for my man and I when we don't want to cook or we want something light and healthy. Honorable mentions that we get often are... Salads: crunchy peanut salad, cilantro chicken, and their newest salad the ahi. Each of the salads comes with their freshly baked bread wedge. For sandwiches we like chimichurri tri tip, pesto and sun dried tomato, the southwest, and their newest salad kid's turkey sandwich. When you ordered their sandwiches it comes with a side house salad. For the kid's meal it comes with either chips or fruit. No drink however. We like the cookies too. There's fruit cup has strawberries, grapes, cantaloupes, and pineapples. It's a little mushy however. There's a Kiosk to order without having to talk to anyone but we usually order through the app and earn points there. I came here today for the first time and I'm definitely returning soon! I ordered the ahi tuna salad and it was delicious! The dressing was on the side and enough for the salad. It came with a piece of their bread which was out of this world soft and delicious! So addicting! They have a self order option as soon as you come in with giant screens to see the menu and order. Their physical menu is also available but I noticed it's super high up...it felt like I had to turn nearly toward the ceiling to see it lol! First, they have delicious fresh brewed iced tea (very important to me), and the rest of my family said the craft sodas and auga frescas were good. Warning!! Their bread is addictive. Be careful... because it's so soft and delicious! At Urbane, I've tried the ahi tuna salad, salmon salad, barramundi fish sandwich, and the chimichurri steak sandwich. Everything was delicious. I did prefer the ahi tuna salad over the salmon salad though. The sandwiches come with a side salad (delicious), and at first look, I did think they were on the smaller side but they are actually quite filling. I thought I would be hungry after eating it. Although the size of the sandwich may be smaller than what I imagined, the quality of ingredients really makes up for it. We used the touchscreen system to order as all the staff looked busy prepping food or bringing it out to tables. Clean and bright inside. Very modern looking, next to a Starbucks. Not a whole lot of personality to the ambience but good enough for a cafe setting. At least there was no TV, and the music was medium loud but not overbearing. We ordered the --bbq tritip sandwich (4/5): tender meat, side salad a nice accompaniment --the ahi tuna bowl (5/5): all the textures and flavors tasted amazing together and it was so refreshing to eat something light yet filling on such a hot day --the Bella portobello mushroom sandwich with added bacon and avocado (3.5/5): could've used more seasoning on the actual mushrooms We did not really interact much with any of the staff but they did bring out our order quickly and seemed to work well together as a team. seared ahi tuna salad was really good!! i'm sometimes hesitant to order raw fish from somewhere that doesn't specialize in it, but u don't need to worry about that with urbane cafe. the greens in the salad were crisp and i liked that they had the dressing automatically on the side so u can control how much u pour in. i will say that $16 is a tiny bit steep for something that doesn't even come with a drink, so just keep that in mind. u order at a kiosk so service was nice and discrete. probably a good spot to study at since it's mostly takeout orders during the day. the restaurant also has bar seating and floor to ceiling windows upon entrance so that's why that salad pic is so nice lol. get's a little hot in the summer but overall a great alternative to panera if you're looking to splurge a little more. read more

Upon entry, you have the option to order at the 2 kiosks or 2 registers. Honestly, I didn't see the kiosks until after I ordered at the register LOL. Ambiance is quite nice actually... I got a romantic feeling especially in the evening. Might be a good place to bring a date LOL. Anyway, the lady who took my order was friendly and pleasant. She recommended the Southwest chicken soup which I got along with my Ahi Poke Sandwich that I had to get again. Thank you miss for the recommendation! Both were just delicious!! Sandwich had a big chunk of lightly seared ahi tuna surrounded with fresh crisp lettuce & pickled daikon + carrots topped with their amazing combination of aioli, sushi, and wasabi sauces. Yum yum!!! My eldest daughter says it's a twist on the Vietnamese banh mi sandwich, but with fish LOL. A very good twist to say the least. I am so happy there is an Urbane Cafe near by since most eateries around the area are all fast foods. I ordered online through the app and picked up in store. The staffs were very helpful in directing me to where the online orders are at. I got the Mediterranean bowl with no extra protein. The bowl was filling! It's located on the corner of Alosta and Citrus and shares a small parking lot with Starbucks but you can also park in the larger lot next to it. The inside is clean and spacious with good seating. You can order upfront at the register or on the app. I've done both and as lovely as the employees are, the app is super user friendly to order from especially if you do take out. I've ordered two salads, the cafe and crunchy peanut salad. My favorite is the crunchy peanut salad since it was packed with yummy fresh greens and veggies. The flavor profile was very cohesive with the honey roasted peanuts and housemade peanut dressing. I also enjoy their housemade cilantro dressing as well! Each salad comes with a quarter of their focaccia bread. It's quite simple but the bread is soft with a hint of salt on top, it's so good! My husband and I also tried the pesto sun dried sandwich and chimichurri steak sandwich. I'm a fan of the steak sandwich! They also have hand crafted sodas and agua frescas. I absolutely would recommend Urbane to anyone who is a fan of delicious, fulfilling gourmet sandwiches! The Californian (vegetarian) and the Chimichurri Steak sandwiches are my favorites. I usually order pick up from the Azusa location, and my orders are always ready by the time I get there. I would note that if you order a fountain drink, you will have to ask for your cup from the counter, and from the times I've been in the store, either staff is busy with another customer or there's nobody at the counter. The interior is clean and bright, even though it's a cozier location. I was so excited when I saw that Urbane Cafe was coming to Azusa. I first tried it when I used to reside in the Bakersfield area. This new location is located in a shopping center next to Azusa Pacific University. The staff is very welcoming. You are greeted as you enter. They have a pick-up section for online orders to the left of the entrance area. The order area is directly in front as you walk in. They also have order kiosks available to place orders. The inside is bright with tables inside and outside available. Service and food preparation is fast. They have many different meal options available. Some of my favorites are: cilantro torta, southwest sandwich, salmon bowl, ahi salad, and the baja enchilada soup. I love their fresh baked focaccia bread. It's light and buttered. Their cookies are also delicious, especially the double chocolate cookie. They have an app and rewards system available. You earn 10 points per dollar. You're able to redeem for cookies, drinks, soup, bread, kid's meal, and a sandwich, bowl, or salad. You can also place your online order through their app. The app also has a receipt upload section to help you keep track of the in-person transactions.
