Orange is tangy and full of garlic. Middle sauce is oil, salt and scallions. Brown sauce at first tasted on the sweeter side but the ginger slowly build heat. Wow this was honestly such a great meal from the soup to the chicken & rice. My bf and I both ordered the half fried chicken and half poached chicken rice. My favorite style of Hainan Chicken is Thai style. This is it right here! It's a small place with I believe 4 tables so best to take this to-go. Owners are super nice. I once brought my family here and they ran out of rice so they asked us if we would be okay with the noodle version instead. I was perfectly fine with that but they still felt so bad they gave us 2 free drinks and said we could come back and pickup the rice once it's ready. Since we were around the area I REALLY wanted to, but ended up not. The portions are sizable here granted the put the sauces inside the container to take up space. Regardless I feel very satiated with the portions here. The poached is the way to go here, something about the fried version batter reminds me of taiwanese style fried chicken in a way that I don't like. I had to make a review right away. If you like Hainan chicken, this place is GOOD. Note that this is Thai owned, but it is even better because there are extra dipping sauces that you don't usually get in Chinese Hainan Chicken. We tried the Dark meat with rices the half fried, half chicken, and the curry. I was quite surprised as the curry tasted like Japanese curry, but it was great. The rice had flavor, wasn't too oily, chicken was tender, and the fried chicken was crispy. I can't really expect anything more, the portion was very generous as well! Each of the dishes even came with a soup! The pickled Vegetables were also very good, not too sweet or sour. The brown dipping sauce was my favorite, it came packed with spiciness but not too much, just right. Glad I was able to find this on Yelp, and give it a try and agree with the others. Parking is simple. It's a busy, private lot, but I quickly found a spot. This hidden, small business is a few blocks away from Azusa Pacific University. Customers order from a self-service kiosk. I selected "dine-in." Later, a very friendly & welcoming staff member brought my meal. Staff is helpful, hardworking, & charming. Staff eagerly answered all my questions. The food arrived in six minutes and 39 seconds. Very fast!! As mentioned, I ordered the Poached White Meat Chicken over Rice ($14.95). To my utter amazement, I found myself devouring this meal. Its fresh ingredients and flavors were absurdly delicious. The poached chicken was extremely soft and plump like a thickly sliced, juicy turkey on Thanksgiving. When combined with the sauces, the flavor cheerfully pops. The Green Ginger Scallion Sauce is zesty and bright. And the Spicy Bean Sauce had a comforting thickness; its flavor carried a gentle sweetness and spice. It's all so tasty!! The meal also comes with complimentary soup broth. I savored its warmth. This soup is clean, savory, and well-seasoned. However, if I had to nitpick, the rice felt a little cold. If the rice was a bit warmer, I'd have definitely enjoyed this meal more. What makes Hainan chicken "Thai style" versus the Singaporean style that you might find in most places around the SGV? I went and Googled this, and apparently, it comes down to the sauce: Thai-style poached chicken is served with a fermented soybean sauce, combining vinegar, ginger, chilies, and other ingredients. Be sure to get it with your order! I always like to get all the other sauces too (the ginger scallion sauce and the sweet chili sauce), since they are included anyway. The variety of dips and flavors is what makes Hainan chicken so dang good, in my opinion! You can get poached chicken with white or dark meat (I recommend all dark meat), or as a half-half split. They also have fried chicken, which isn't bad, but I prefer the simplicity of the poached chicken. You can get the half-fried chicken, half-poached chicken combo if you're feeling indecisive. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. You can order online via their official website (avoid ChowNow or Postmates to skip the unnecessary fees). Sunday night dinner. So glad to see a new spot open up so close to home that is similar to kluck to go. Steamed chicken is just like your typical Taiwanese chicken and the fried chicken has a seasoning that's not spicy. The crunch is light with good flavor. The rice is good and so is the broth.
