Panang Beef Curry was also available. Regrettably, by the time I finally joined the line, only a single piece of beef remained. The noodle selections were Pad Thai Shrimp and Pad Woon Sen with Vegetables. The main courses featured Cashew Nut Chicken and Eggplant Basil Fried Tofu. Beverage choices encompassed Almond Thai Tea, Thai Tea, Vietnamese Iced Coffee, Lemonade, Lemon Iced Tea, Iced Tea, Soda, and a variety of Hot Teas. Dessert options were Banana Roll with Ice Cream, Mango Sago, and Mango with Sticky Rice. My husband and I intend to return. Their food is always amazing, but I wanted to update my review based on experience. Came here for dinner with my girlfriends and after our entree, the waiter handed us a dessert menu but never came back. It wasn't until I heard the waiter talking to another table that it was their last call for the kitchen that I had to flag him down to let him know that we wanted to order desserts. After we placed our desserts, then the waiter slowly bussed our table. Anyway, we got mango sticky rice with ice cream ($18.99) and banana rolls with ice cream ($12.99). When the bill came, we didn't know adding ice cream was going to be +$4.00 per scoop. Like what? We didn't see anything about adding $4.00 for ice cream, but the mango sticky rice makes sense now that I had to go back to look at the menu again. But then I remembered that they opened a sister restaurant called Ari's that I've been wanting to visit. Distance from my house is only a little bit further than Basil & Co, so no problem there. The vibe and decor is the same as the DB location and I think seats the same number of customers. We were seated immediately upon arrival, but then I saw a table in the back that had "Happy Birthday" balloons taped on the wall so I asked if we could sit there instead and they let us. We ordered our usual favorites and tried some new things: Ari's Chicken Wings Larb salad with chicken Tom Kha Soup with noodles Curry Noodles Spicy fried rice Pad thai Drunken noodles Yellow pumpkin curry with rice Mango sticky rice Everything was great just like at Basil & Co! My whole family rated it 5/5 for every dish we ate. You honestly cannot go wrong with anything you order here. The dumplings had amazing texture throughout and I loved the crunchy garnish and fresh cucumber. The Drunken Noodles were your typical drunken noodles-- delicious with fresh ingredients. Ari's Thai Eatery is truly a hidden gem! Every dish was super delicious and during the whole dining experience the staff is attentive and makes you feel extremely welcome. I tried a variety of dishes off their menu: Combo Pad Thai: 5/5 Although a little on the sweeter side, the pad thai was still packed with flavor. I ordered it with combo meats (chicken, beef, and shrimp) but might stick to just the chicken and shrimp next time. The beef was just average. However the chicken was very tender in this dish! Panang Brisket: 3/5 The panang brisket was a little bit disappointing. While the curry itself was delicious and their roti had the perfect amount of crisp, the brisket was not as tender as I would have liked, and they had barely given us any curry. I would opt for just the regular panang curry next time. Still highly recommend the roti as the perfect airy and crispy pairing to the curry! Spicy Fried Rice: 5/5 I had ended up selecting the "Crazy Spicy" level (highest spice level) for this dish and it was the perfect choice! While I have a high spice tolerance the crazy spicy level still gave a good amount of kick. The fried rice paired well with the crispy pork and had a bold peppery flavor with a hint of freshness from the basil. Chicken Satay: 100000/5 The chicken satay I have had here is by far the best one I have ever had. The tenderness from the meat was something i've never experienced before when eating chicken satay and the peanut paste was super creamy. The thai cucumber salad also gave it a refreshing kick with the acidity from the rice vinegar. This dish is a must try at Ari's! Ari's Chicken Wings: 4/5 The sweet and savor glaze on the wings was solid, and the wings were not overdone or dry. However, I was hoping for the wings to be a little more crispy. Had tried neither but fate brought me here due to last minute plan changes...and sometimes, fate has a thing or two up its sleeve. Maybe three dishes up its sleeve. Wine will do very well. Then ordered three dishes: Papaya Salad - on the sweeter side and not as authentic as what I've had in Thai town but still really good. Kra Pow Duck Breast with Fried Egg over rice - had to order this b/c it's not a common protein for a kra pow dish. The server taking my order seemed to be in a rush. I got the Thai tea, Fried Calamari, and Kra Pow w/ pork. We've been wanting to try Ari's Thai for a while and finally stopped in for midweek dinner. The minute we walked in, we were pleasantly surprised by the ambience and decor. This restaurant is very nicely decorated and has a family friendly vibe. The restaurant is clean and pristine. They have many TVs which is great for watching sport. The staff at Ari's is awesome. They are very efficient and patience. They constantly check in and make you feel right at home. This is what we ordered from the DineLA menu: App: Calamari & Pork Jerky Entrees: Yellow Curry & Kra Pow (both with chicken) Drinks: soda and Thai tea. All the food is stylishly presented. I love the way each dish looked. The most important part is the food tasted as good as it looked! The portions were generous. I love their take of the Thai dishes and the tastes they created. Ari's Thai Eatery was a great surprise as everything that made it to the table brought a smile to our face and belly. Got tired of the typical items so happy to see unique items like crab, fried pork, brisket, whole steaks for crying tiger, etc. food was good to very good. Calamari was amazing. Pad see ew was good, but very similar flavors to others. Crying tiger was good, but could have been better. Was a little undercooked for med rare and papaya salad wasn't spicy at all, even though I asked for spicy. Need my crying tiger to have fire! I randomly came across Ari's Thai Eatery while trying to figure out where to eat, and I'm glad I gave it a shot. The space has this modern, chic, almost minimalist vibe to it, but at the same time it still kind of feels like a fast casual restaurant. When we walked in I noticed a waitlist sign and thought we were going to be waiting for a while, but we actually got seated right away. I didn't get one of the booths and ended up in one of the regular chairs which was a little uncomfortable after a while, but honestly the thing that stood out the most here was the service. The staff is clearly well trained and extremely attentive. My water was refilled at least five times without me even asking, and they were constantly checking in at just the right moments without hovering. That level of attentiveness really stood out. Food wise, I was impressed. Their photo menu was actually really helpful and kind of fun to look through. At one point I saw something on the menu that was around $62 and immediately thought "oh hell no, I'm not that hungry," especially since I wasn't starving to begin with. I ended up ordering the beef salad and wow... you would think a salad would just be fine or basic, but it was honestly delicious. Like genuinely craveable, bright flavors, and I finished the entire thing. My friend ordered a beef and rice dish that was also really good, and we shared a chicken appetizer that disappeared pretty quickly. Everything tasted fresh and well executed. I also appreciated the modern touch when it came time to pay since they make it really easy with Apple Pay and other tap options. The reason I'm landing at four stars instead of five mostly comes down to price. Our total came out to about $66 for two main dishes and an appetizer, and for Thai food that feels a bit on the high side to me. I've had equally delicious Thai meals elsewhere where the bill would probably land under $50. One other thing to note is that the tables are a little close together, so you're definitely near the next party. Some people might enjoy that social energy, but if you like a little more space it's something to keep in mind. The staff brought cups with lids and even gave the kids a little light up toy that kept them entertained while we ate. It was nice to see other families with little ones enjoying a meal and the staff was great from start to finish. Can't wait to go back. 5/5 Food Delicious. Yellow pumpkin chicken curry was flavorful makes my mouth water just writing it. The pumpkin and veggies give it a unique taste. Shrimp Pad Thai was delicious, kids devoured it. The shrimp was juicy and soft noodles. Virgin Lime Mojito was refreshing. Thai tea was really good. The staff also got my son a little treat at the end of the meal. Plenty of parking. One of the BEST Khao Soi (they call it curry noodle) that I've ever had!! Would recommend this place just for this dish. Service was good, restaurant had a very clean interior, and food came out very quickly. The food is a little expensive considering that portions are on the smaller end. Curry Noodle (aka Khao Soi): 1000/5. Easily one of the best Khao Soi I've ever had. The broth was so addicting - we literally could not stop slurping it up even when we already finished the dish! It had the perfect depth with sweet and salty notes and had a little spicy kick to it. Also love the choice of dishware so that the crispy egg noodles would not sink to bottom and get soggy. This is a must order! Pad Thai: 3.5/5. It was alright, could be more flavorful overall. The lime that we squeezed over it honestly saved the dish. Heard about this place on Insta and decided to come try it. We ordered a Pad Thai and a Curry Noodle (which was basically a Khao Soi). The Pad Thai was good but nothing amazing. It tasted like your standard Pad Thai from an average Thai restaurant. Adding the lime helped improve the flavor. The Khao Soi was the star of the show. It was full of flavor! The curry had a mix of sweet and savory and the spiciness added a nice kick to it (we ordered mild). Definitely recommend this one. Probably one of the best I've had. Wow! What an amazing new restaurant in the Azusa area! I am so glad we tried this place out after watching the expose that Channel 7 News did on this place. We tried the yellow curry (without pumpkin since my daughter is allergic), the chicken wings, calamari, pad see ew, and the crying tiger with papaya salad. All of the dishes were so flavorful without being overpowering. Even for my daughter who doesn't usually like Thai food, she mentioned that all the sauces pair perfectly with the food items. The steak on the Crying Tiger plate is a must try. It was grilled and seasoned to perfection! Service is quick, efficient and all servers were super friendly. Since the place is newer, it's really clean, modern and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Will definitely be back! read more
