I should've taken this gesture immediately as an unwillingness to seating us. I responded with no, party for 2, and another lady comes running over and says "but we close at 9" in which I responded, I'm well aware, but can we still order? they both responded with yes so i said okay can we seat? in which she responded with again, "but we close at 9." really not sure what's up with the people running this restaurant, but if you don't want the business or if you just want to close earlier, then do that. there are plenty of sichuan places in the SGV (and quite honestly probably better tasting) than this place. take your business elsewhere. PS - also seeing recent yelp reviews about trending terrible service, please just run from this place. if they don't want your business, don't force your time and money down their throats. i'm not interested in eating bloody chicken anyways. read more

Extremely Rude Service and Poor Food Quality!!! I used to order from SeaChuan Kitchen (West Covina) several times in the past, but my experience today was the last straw. When I called to order, I politely asked about the fat content of certain dishes like 回锅肉 (twice-cooked pork) and cumin lamb. I simply wanted to know if the meat would be mostly lean, and even said it's fine as long as it's within a reasonable range (about 1/3 fat). Instead of answering professionally, the woman on the phone became impatient and dismissive. She told me "you can't choose" and "if you care so much, don't order." Then she abruptly hung up, saying they were closing -- even though I was already placing my order. This is not the first bad experience: * Several times the fish was not fresh and had a sour, spoiled smell. When I asked, I was told "酸菜鱼 (pickled fish) is supposed to smell like that." * Their (grilled fish) was also not fresh, and the bones were still stuck to the flesh. * Chicken dishes arrived undercooked, with visible blood. The combination of poor food quality and extremely rude customer service is unacceptable, especially in the U.S. where customers expect respect and basic professionalism. We were coincidentally just around the corner when we got off the freeway and we pulled right into the driveway! Other than the 辣烤鱼 Spicy Roasted Fish dish, we also got their Steamed Pork with Pumpkin, rice to pair with the dishes, and (2) Honey Lemon Teas. They all were absolutely delish! Szechwan Kitchen is a very good Chinese restaurant in the Covina Area. I wish it was closer to where I live and I would definitely visit more often. You can either order to go or dine in. If you order to go from the app, you get 10% off. You can order dine in from the app, but you don't get 10% off. This is one of the places where you come for the food and not for the service. A lot of the utensil and napkins are on a table in the center where people can pick up to-go orders. So if you need something along the lines of utensil, you can grab it there. They don't really check on you to see if you need anything . When I came here and wanted water, they sold me a bottle of water. It's not complementary in a cup with ice or anything like that. Literally will sell you a bottle of water. So if you don't mind buying over priced water, go ahead. You can bring your own water as well. I think the best dish I had here was the Kung Pao Chicken. It was really flavorful, tender, and I enjoy it when they cook with the peppers and onions. Not a fan of just chicken and chili. It pairs great with a bowl of rice (that you have to pay extra for). Rice isn't free, but it comes pretty tall, like one bowl of rice is stacked up high so it's like two giant scoops of rice in one bowl. The restroom here is pretty dirty. Like dark and dimly lit and dirty. Parking for this place isn't too bad, there are a few spots in the front of the restroom and there is a shared parking lot. I was actually very surprised on the meal I got for lunch. I really was expecting an "American" version of Chinese food but was surprised to see that the meal was an authentic cuisine from southern China. My pork belly dish was sauteed vegetables which included onions and bell peppers with savory chili oil tossed over the plate. I ordered the Chongqing Fried Chicken, Beef Broccoli, and Sauteed String Beans. The Chongqing Fried Chicken was named popcorn chicken, or deep fried boneless chicken with spice in other restaurants. Tried two dishes today. One is a regular, spicy boiled fish, and the other was a new one we wanted to try which was the Kung Pao chicken from their lunch special menu. Not sure what makes its a lunch special though. It didn't come with soup or anything, just the dish so unless it's a price difference for lunch portion, I don't know the difference. It was tasty though. A little sweet for my taste, but it did have a good balance of sweet and spicy. The go to dish here is spicy boiled dishes. Have tried two so far, the one with fish only and the one with fish and beef (two kinds). Fish is tender and spicy broth is great on rice. Clears the sinuses too if you need it The other options are fresh fish and beef only. Although I enjoyed the beef, fish is the stand out which is why I ordered fish only this time. As for the fresh fish option, I'll have to try that next time but understand that the bones are included in this version so will have to ready to work for my food. read more
