My wife and I made reservations two weeks in advance for a much-needed date night at McKinley's Grillhouse inside the Sheraton Fairplex Hotel & Conference Center. We were excited. Unfortunately, the evening began on a disappointing note. We waited 38 minutes before anyone took our order. Several tables were vacant, so it felt less like "busy night chaos" and more like "we forgot you were here." We never officially met our original server, and for a moment we wondered if we had accidentally booked a silent retreat instead of dinner. That said... this is where the story turns. Hugh (forgive me if I misspelled it -- my wife is usually right ) stepped in and completely changed the trajectory of our night. Attentive, kind, professional -- he brought warmth and urgency that should be bottled and used for staff training everywhere. The steak? Absolutely phenomenal. One of the best meals we've had in months. We did have a hiccup with dessert that could have been serious, but once we brought it to their attention, Tim, the manager, took full accountability. No defensiveness. No excuses. Just ownership and a genuine desire to make it right. That matters. If the night had ended with the initial experience, we wouldn't be back. Started off with great service. We were staying at the Sheraton hotel and they welcomed us warmly. Mentioned that they had dine-in, delivery and pick up. They also mentioned that delivery had a fee so if we just pick up, it would be cheaper which was nice to know and easy since we were staying there. Ordered two food items on two mornings with coffee. They have regular coffee and their espresso Starbucks machine allowing for more options (yay coffee fans). They also call your room when your food is ready to pick up so you can continue getting ready while you wait. They even grabbed me change from the front desk so I could break a note. What a gem of a place! This restaurant is located inside the Sheraton Fairplex in Pomona. At first I was worried because this was really the only place to eat at the hotel and there is nothing to eat within walking distance. THANKFULLY this place is really good. I came here for breakfast and loved it. I got the Monte Cristo and added scrambled eggs to the sandwich. Honestly... probably the best Monte Cristo I've ever had! Everything was cooked perfect and the seasonal blackberry jam took it to the next level. It also came with potatoes which were good. $20 seems a little expensive for a breakfast that small, but with no other eating options, I'm glad the quality at least kind of justified the price. Visited the fair the night before and stayed overnight at the hotel. Had breakfast here the next morning. Diana my waitress was excellent. Took my order promptly and refilled my coffee without asking. Had the meat omelet with potatoes. The food was just average. Potatoes were cooked well but had no flavor to them. The omelet was ok but very oily (more than just from the cheese). The atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and comfortable not pretentious. Staff is friendly and helpful, but they are understaffed so being seated and served takes a long time - don't come here if you are on a tight schedule. Also, the food quality isn't consistent. I had a wonderful burger and my husband had a fantastic salad and later pasta, but my soup was frozen (couldn't have it at lunch because it was "still frozen") and SUPER salty when I had the defrosted soup later. Most of the food is crazy salty. Limited options as well on breakfast. No gluten free options. Overall not terrible, but not great. We enjoyed eating off-site more. Totally hit the spot and you get to choose what side you want- I opted for a salad, which was also delicious. The bread was so fresh and the veggies were crisp! It was packaged up in a container and bag for me to take to go, which was nice for carrying to my room. I noticed several items on the menu that looked tasty, so would recommend giving them a try! Reasonable price for the plate at $20. 2. Breakfast - It is a buffet style breakfast which had offerings of eggs scrambled soft (plus to me, I don't like overcooked eggs), pancakes (really good!), seasoned potatoes, bacon, veggie frittata, and sausage (did not like at all, it's really dense and I have no idea what it is made of). The beverage service during breakfast was a lot different than dinner. The server took our drink order but completely disappeared. Came by on 1/15/2023 after spending the afternoon at Pomona Fairplex for the Asian Expo. With the rain coming down wanted a nice sit down place to chill and have dinner. This place popped up with openings located in the Sheraton Hotel. Parking is easy and free. We were greeted by the staff and Priscilla who was taking care of us. Priscilla at McKinley's Grill is truly amazing. She made our dining experience truly wonderful with her professionalism and friendliness. It was like connecting with a friend we hadn't seen in a while. Her manager, Brandon, should be proud as she is a true asset to the restaurant. Her great attitude and demeanor are a testament to the great workplace, leadership and company that McKinley's Grill is. We highly recommend this restaurant and specifically ask for Priscilla as your server. She raved about the deserts and even have a flourless chocolate cake. Very LA. We come out for a huge car show for over 20 It's going to be a big crowd, but every year they are completely understaffed. The staff is kind, but they're so overwhelmed, and the service ends up being terrible. The restaurant in Bar should be completely aware that this is going to happen every single year.. it's just disappointing for a established hotel and restaurant to not put more effort into accommodating people that want to spends a lot of money. read more

I've been meaning to Yelp our amazing experience and am finally getting to it. We always stay at the Sheraton when the Reptile Expo is going on. After the auction, everyone makes their way to the bar to eat before heading to our rooms. This past Expo, we didn't get to the bar on time and there were no seats available for our group of 7. My husband peeked over to the restaurant and asked the manager (I forget her name and I'm so sorry for that) if they were closed for the night. She cheerfully said they could seat us outside on the patio since it was a beautiful night. We absolutely did not want to be a burden and they made us feel extremely welcomed. Our server (I want to say her name was Tammy, but I could be wrong) was an absolute doll. We all ordered food and drinks, she had no problems with splitting tabs, and made sure we were all taken care of. We could tell she had to go on break cause someone else looked after us for a while and she was just as amazing. Our food was good as always, but the service was the highlight of our experience. I just wanted to thank the amazing servers and managers for staying later than they should have to make sure we had a great time. We stay there 3 times a year and every time, service is impeccable! This review is for the Sunday all you can eat buffet. There are many positives. The servers were there when you needed something and invisible otherwise. Very well trained, attentive, professional, and friendly. Omelettes were good and the coffee was decent. Fresh fruit was great, perfectly ripened and tasty. Downsides? Potatoes and French Toast from the warming trays, both were lukewarm at best and not at all enjoyable to eat. There was a very limited number of fillings for the omelettes, only three veggies (plus cheese and meats). The salsa was hidden away and you ladled it out of a plastic container into a small bowl, not a big deal but certainly unusual. The pastries were just ok. What is frustrating is that going to 4 or even 5 stars would not be that hard. Make sure the warming trays keep the food hot. Add a couple more veggie options for the omelette (jalapenos!). Put the salsa out with the other condiments. While not cheap, pricing is not out of line with other hotel restaurants, and we would return for the buffet...even with the downsides. read more

We stay at the Sheraton every year for the grand national roadster show and always eat at McKinleys grill, it's easy and convenient and has always been good in the past. Well this is the last time we'll be eating there. Asked for a red wine glass (for a nice bottle of red) and received a regular wine glass that was incredibly dirty. There was cinnamon sugar dumped all over our sweet potato fries (gross), the childrens macaroni and cheese that says "elbow macaroni with a three cheese sauce" is actually KRAFT, which I don't feed my child. And the $12 cheesecake is not much bigger than a silver dollar. read more

For our Friday night dinner, we decided to go to a more quiet and relaxed place. This restaurant is perfect, it's inside Sheraton Hotel, and they are not overly busy. We ordered tindori chicken and salmon. The chicken was Juicy and skin was crispy. It came with few pieces of potatoes and mushrooms. The flavor was a little bit salty for me and how I wished there were more potatoes to balance it out but overall it was delicious! Salmon with asparagus were very well seasoned and it came with mashed potatoes. Again, we wished there was a little bit more mashed potatoes. My free breakfast did not give me the buffet. If gave me a list of basic menu entrees I could choose from. A discount menu for the discount breakfast. I did not feel elite. I felt cheated. How much would it really cost them to show their regular customers a little love? I have stayed at this particular hotel a lot. The management has made the breakfast perk worse and worse over time.
