    New York steak lunch special
    Alli E.

Came here tonight because we passed it earlier in the day and it sounded amazing. Everything seems to be made fresh which is nice. We looked at the dinner plates and the prices seemed a little steep ($25 and beyond), although they do offer many options for protein which is cool. We opted for the "lunch special" which is served all day but comes in a bowl as opposed to a plate. I ordered the New York steak and my husband got the seared ahi. Flavor wise we both agree it was top notch, but for $17 a bowl the amount of protein you get is pretty small so it's heavy on the rice. Each lunch special also comes with a drink but they failed to give us my husband's coke (they're a walk up business with no seating outside so it's ordered to go). Kinda lame. Overall I think it's worth a try and could be somewhere you visit once or twice a month.

Great service with a large menu I couldn't even decide what to order. Nice vibe in the heart of P town. I will definitely come back.

Not every restaurant has staff who take the time to truly guide customers through their food like this establishment does. Their customer service is on another level. I loved the bar seating because you can watch them cook everything fresh right in front of you. They were very personable with both their regulars and first-time customers, which made the atmosphere feel warm and inviting. The food is FRESH -- cooked immediately after ordering. Diana shared that they receive new chicken daily and never use frozen chicken, which definitely shows in the quality. My favorite meal was the Half Coward -- very juicy with the perfect mild spice. The Loaded Mac was sooo good as well! You can truly tell this is a family-owned business that puts love and care into everything they do. We pray your business continues to flourish. It should be noted that this place is not fast food so allow time in your plans for pick up or a wait, etc. The place itself is pretty chill. I came in and didn't order in advance, but had no issues waiting for my order. I ordered the 6 piece 'snack' with chicken tenders which came with fries and a roll. I really enjoyed my meal when I got home. I hope to come back soon and order one of the 4 or 2 piece chicken meals or even some of the wings. There was enough parking outside, but the lot accommodates a few businesses so it can get tight.

So here's my good and not so good. Good: the service here is amazing, friendly attentive and I watched every dine in customer receive extraordinary care. The portion sizes are huge and the whole restaurant felt like you were in someone's own kitchen on a weekend morning with all of the right smells in the air for a great brunch. Here's the not so good: it took 4 minutes shy of an hour to get lunch for 2 (2 order of chicken tenders, side of red beans and rice and an order of hush puppies ) prepared. Although the booths were full, most of the tables had their food, so it didn't appear to be a lot of tickets stacked up. When my order was finally delivered, and I took the10 minute drive back home, I opened the bag to fund 3 brown paper bags, wet, soggy and soaking in grease. Because the food hadn't been allowed to cool a bit and it was placed in a plastic bag with no way to vent out steam, every item was soggy and falling apart. The fries were wet and soggy, the chicken had all of the dry coat falling off and most the seasoning was pulled off of the batter that was left because of the water and steam. Additionally, the red beans and rice were so wet, they were almost soup. One of the orders had potato salad as a side, but to received overcooked soggy fries instead. The hush puppies were way over cooked, they had passed the golden brown cook level and were a black brown color and were sort of flavorless and really soggy from the heat of the plastic bag. I'm sure that most of this could have been avoided if I hadn't placed a to go order. But I'm leaving this review so that when you order from this little gem, you consider dining in or asking for the foot with plenty of lead time so that they don't rush, improperly pack the food for transit (let it cool off a bit) and have the time to make sure the order is correct, and cooked to a standard that best represents the business. Pomona needs Day-Days as a locally owned, black owned soul food restaurant. Switching from plastic to paper bags and giving the food time to vent will go a long way with quality for the customer. In the end the food tasked good, I'm sure was prepared with love, but fell flat on the delivery. All of that said, patronize this restaurant!!!!

There used to be 9 breakfast food options that are no longer available. There were 5 rice bowl options that have been reduced to 2, and the 5 sandwich options are now down to 3. I'm sure for operation costs, they've had to cut down and just sell their top sellers? That's what I'm assuming because why else would you eliminate 75% of your menu? I was hoping to get some of the breakfast options for my kids and a few of the rice bowls, but since breakfast was no longer available, and I didn't really have many rice options, I just picked up the Korean bowl. I came home and ate the bowl and it was awful. The chicken was so so dry, it honestly tasted like they had gotten a leftover piece and threw it in the fryer again to warm it up. I'm so sad because I loved this place so much. But, with such a limited menu (we mainly came because my kids enjoyed the breakfast menu) and the food being so bad now, I don't think I'll be back.

I must say the chicken was pretty dang juicy and with that first bite it popped that egg and made it all runny and messy! I'm not a sauce person but this was hitting my tastebuds like no other! The service was pretty good and the shop is pretty chill with a lot of traffic with all the to go orders but still a cool little spot to eat at. And that's my take on it, Peace and out.
