Bruschetta bites and the shrimp ceviche
Jessica G.

My husband and I have been here twice now and both times have been a great time dining experience. This last Saturday, we sat out on the patio and were helped by Kristin at the bar area, who was absolutely amazing! From start to finish, the service was above and beyond; friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Honestly, this girl deserves a raise! The food was also good! It was flavorful, and beautifully presented. The ceviche with avocado and chips was refreshing, the bruschetta was packed with flavor and perfectly drizzled, and the flatbread was loaded with a generous amount of toppings. The ambience had a relaxed yet lively vibe. It was perfect for a night out. Between the great service, delicious food, and overall vibe, this place is a gem. We will definitely be back and recommend it to anyone looking for a chill night out.

They charged me $48 for this wine that is only $10 at the store!

Went in for happy hour with a friend. Horrible experience! Servers are basic, need a lesson in customer service. The one outside was super rude and couldn't even fake a smile. We had to go fetch our drinks, they never came over and asked us if we wanted another drink and we were there for at least two hours. The food was horrible, then I bought a bottle of wine Togo, and when I went to pay she charged me $48 for a cheap bottle of white wine with a twist off top. My friend was with me and I didn't want to embarrass her by denying the charge. When I got home I looked up how much the wine really is, it's only $10 at Total Wine & More! So they charged me three times the actual price of the wine!!! That's an insane up-charge. Incredibly bad taste! Shame on them! I will not be back after that experience. No wonder every time I walk by there it's completely dead!

Chill, casual place with decent drinks and lite bites, sandwiches, etc. Table service, but also a large, outdoor bar on the back patio. Live music on the back patio during our visit. As far as I could tell, parking is on street only and can be scarce on weekends. DRINK & FOOD: I had an Old Stump Blonde Draft ($8) and my wife tried the Cadillac Margarita ($13), both spicy and regular, and both were well made. The food was okay. We tried the Chips & Queso ($8), which was the best of our choices. The Red Cabbage & Blue Cheese salad ($8) was interesting. I liked it, but my wife not so much. Finally, a Pepperoni & Jalapeno Flatbread ($13), which was okay. Overall, the staff were nice and attentive, and the food was okay, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to visit again. Like I said, it's a chill place to hang out with friends.

I was visiting my daughter at the University and we decided to walk over with some family to enjoy some appetizers and drinks. The atmosphere was nice and comfy and everyone was very nice. My margarita was great and the Verde sauce served with the quesadilla was so tasty.

I've been here a few times now. It is close to where I went to grad school. It's a fun little bar with mostly outdoor seating. They play the Dodger's games which is cool. They have happy hour Monday through Friday early evenings and Taco Tuesday. The drinks are good and they have a good variety, as well as a full bar. The beer us good too, they have rotating drafts. My fiancé got drunk off the sour beer this weekend, he said it was very good. I had a few Palomas, Hugh quality with Herradura tequila and not house tequila. I was not hungover at all. The food is good, I recommend the nachos with chicken and the caprese salad. The green chile queso is bomb! Staff is pretty good, they check on you in intervals not too far apart. I'm glad this place is close by to me. I recommend this place with a group of friends or for a date night. Cheers!

We even got dressed up because the vibe online felt fancy and elevated. Unfortunately, the experience was very different in person. The space is extremely small and overcrowded, to the point where you can barely move, let alone order a drink. We squeezed our way toward the back just to find a little breathing room, but it was constant "excuse me" in every direction. With how packed it was, the bartenders seemed to be moving at a slow pace with little sense of urgency, which made getting to the bar nearly impossible. After waiting about 10 minutes without being able to place an order, we ended up leaving. It was disappointing, especially after driving out excited to try the drinks we saw online. The photos make the space feel much bigger and more relaxed than it actually is, which created a very different expectation. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype and first impressions fell flat.

One of the coolest things about a speakeasy is the transition into the space. Here, there's a walkway and corner, then turn into the candle and subtle lit space. It's a small thing? But that bit of walk helps distance the mind and feel open to the special space. There is a bar with seating, a long high top, and bench & table booth-ish type seating. The colors are warm, reminiscent of sitting in a western sunset. Music plays - jazzy, alternative, happy music. We were greeted and seated by the friendly hostess, then welcomed warmly by the magic maker himself: the bartender! And what delightfully unique, and dare I say daring, concoctions he made! The cocktails each had a spin, an ingredient, something *different* from the norm, making it challenging for my friend and I to narrow down which delights to try! Even the popcorn was unique, with chili and nutritional yeast savoriness that was the perfect complement to our cocktails. My friend felt the Silver Cloud was quite the adult version of a smoothie dessert! She got ideas...I adored my Last Word. It was refreshing with the green chartreuse and incredibly not-put-down-able. Next up, she had the Bandolier. It was a very unique taste to her, pretty puckery, so the bartender - who checked on us regularly for impressions - added a bit more pineapple. That did the trick! My next was the Boulevardier, which was uniquely and deliciously twisted with the coffee and salt. Absolute yum!!! Even though there's a 90 minute limit, on this Thursday night there was plenty of space between imbibers, and we weren't pressured in any way to move along. Thank you, as we were due for a proper catch up. One thing we did notice, is that once there were more folks chatting and laughing, it became a bit echo-y and harder to hear. On a busier night, I imagine the ambience we first experienced- quieter, mellow, chill vibe - likely changes to more robust and lively. Either way, this place is a feels-far-away retreat worth "traveling" to.

Not terribly inventive Mexican given what's out there in DTLA or even OC but kudos for attempts at menu expansion! I do think the guacamole is really good, the mezcal offerings are awesome, the decor is upscale and Happy Hour pricing is worthwhile. I find this restaurant very loud however. Because of that, I booked outside seating on OpenTable for Cinco de Mayo for drinks at 6:30 for 4 of us. We arrived at 6:25. We were notified that they were running behind, but still were not seated at 7... we were told there was no outdoor seatings coming up in the near future but they could honor our reservation shortly at an indoor table... but unfortunately it was club-decibel live music for the holiday so we went elsewhere. I do feel that managing holiday crowds and reservations is a reasonable expectation for a restaurant of this caliber/ price point. Recommend as a local option only but with a few caveats, not my top choice.

Walking through the 80s bar it gives off very clubby and busy vibes so it was hard to imagine a speakeasy at the end of it. I was actually shocked upon entrance and really impressed with the detail and ambiance. It is a small space and keep in mind you may share a table with another group if necessary. The drinks were actually phenomenal. On the pricier end of $22 and up but we're so good. I loved the horror theme play on the cocktail names! The candy man was delicious and my favorite. The Lester drink came in a light bulb with an edible flower and that was definitely an experience! My hubby loved the Samara which was a delicious espresso. Service was fairly quick and friendly. The drinks were all sweet cocktails and in the "Matterhorn Lodge" theme. There is a 2 drink minimum purchase (per guest) and each drink is $20+ so it can add up. I'm more of a beer person but some of the drinks were delicious. There was one that tasted like Christmas morning (cinnamon, clove, milky) and another drink that had popping boba that was also fun. If you're a butterfinger or peanut butter fan, there was one drink that tasted like it (you'll see it on the drink menu). I wouldn't say the drinks were strong. They do a good job of enforcing the theme. They had a "Yeti" come out and interact with the tables. Good for photo ops. They also had a magician doing a few tricks, and I enjoyed that the most. The place was kept fairly chilly! Even the bathrooms had jokes and signage on the walls that alluded to the alps. Overall a great time. Small venue but pretty chill. Can be pricey. Take a sweater. Good for dates and small groups.

The bottomless mimosas ($29.99) sound like a great deal, but just know how they run it. There's a 90-minute minimum, and they don't bring a bottle to the table--you get one mimosa at a time, and you have to finish it before they'll bring another. The first one I got tasted like straight orange juice barely any champagne. I sent it back and to their credit, they remade it much better They mentioned they control pours to keep the environment in check, which I understand--but if you're expecting free-pour vibes, that's not the case here. Food-wise: French toast & breakfast potatoes were really good However the Chilaquiles were super dry and lacked flavor--wouldn't recommend Burger & fries were decent, but nothing special As for drink pricing, it does lean a bit on the higher side. bucket of 5 beers was around $42, $15 for a Tito's vodka shot, and even a basic Jack and Coke came out to about $18 with tip, which felt a little steep for the area. the best deal was definitely the green tea shots at only $9 I will say, our waitress Priscilla was great. She had a lot of tables and seemed a bit overwhelmed, but she still made an effort to check on us and kept my mimosas coming pretty promptly. I didn't have to wait long at all between refills, which I appreciated. Since we went for a special event, the DJs were great and really kept the energy up the whole time Parking was easy. It did say there was a $2 fee, but when we printed the ticket, we weren't charged--so it might be free, but I'd still double-check at the kiosk just in case. Overall: decent spot for the vibe, music, and brunch outing, but just be prepared for controlled drinks and slightly higher prices.
