This is a calm, quaint little spot down at the Depot-End of town that's perfect if you want a tasty meal and some good wine(s). They have a Pickle Pizza (don't knock it 'til you try it) that is just out of this world! I honestly haven't had anything bad there. They also have a decent selection of beers to choose from, in case wine isn't your thing. There is both indoor and outdoor seating for whatever your preference is. The patio is well-covered, so if anyone is trying to stay out of the sun, they've thought of that. Kelly took care of my friend and I, as we decided to go to Claremont instead of braving the crowds at The Upland Lemon Festival this past Sunday. Kelly was an absolute ray of sunshine and took great care of us. We spent a good amount of the afternoon chilling on their patio sipping on Sangiovese, and snacking on the Corn & Tortilla Dip, as well as the Pork Belly appetizer. All were wonderful! Came here on a Thursday evening for pizza. We were seated outside, which was such a vibe. Twinkle lights, wooden furniture, and succulents made it really cozy. It wasn't very busy, though there was a paint night happening inside, which was fun to see. We ordered two pizzas, but the wait ended up being about 40 minutes, which was much longer than expected. When the pizzas finally arrived (we got the pickle pizza and the charcuterie), they were definitely flavorful, but a bit too salty for our taste. We ended up taking most of it home and eating it with lots of water on the side. Service is good and they were honest about pizza not being available when I booked a reservation for my mom's birthday. I used the 4 people wine tasting deal from Groupon and asked if my cousin could possibly use his and they said 1 Groupon per table. I've been to Grafted Cellars in Claremont a couple times with my girlfriends, and we always have such a great time, especially because of the fun menu items and events! Weekly Events: Grafted Cellars regularly hosts various events throughout the week, such as pictionary, paint nights, and trivia. My friends and I have come by to participate in trivia several times, and always leave looking forward to the next event. The trivia questions and categories are always well thought out and can be incredibly niche (which is a good thing, especially for trivia aficionados -- I can't count the number of times I've heard "What is the tallest mountain range in the world?" at other trivia sessions. It gets old.) Ambiance: The interior is so cute! There's a bit of a cozy cottage vibe going on, with the exposed beams and how intimate the space feels. Service: The servers are friendly and check in just the right amount -- enough to ensure that you get your drink/food orders in regularly, but not too much (to distract from the trivia at hand lol). Food/Drinks: Our go-to order is normally the Hot Honey Pepperoni Pizza, which is made fresh to order and comes to the table piping hot. Also, it seems that seasonally, Grafted Cellars comes up with some fun wine flights and pairings -- we especially enjoyed the Valentine's candy and Girl Scout cookie pairings. Trivia: I was totally unaware of the grafting act with wines from Europe in America. According to their website, how long has grafting been happening to "solve a worldwide hardship in grape growing?" I've been to Claremont twice in my life. I've been to Grafted Cellars both times. On the first visit I made the mistake of leaving without a couple bottles of their wine. I didn't make that mistake the second time. I had delicious wines during both visits. The complimentary tasting flight (because my friend is a wine club member) was superb. I decided to embark on a wine flight. It was $25 for 5 wines that you can try out. I tried out the rose and a couple of different red blends. The wines were pretty good, but my favorite was the Pinot Noir casked in a Woodford Bourbon. I ordered extra bread for my charcuterie plate and was charged a hefty fee for that.
