Compared to other places I've taken my kiddos to, the Main Event, for me, was just "okay". I gave it 3 stars highly based on staff. Every single staff member I encountered from the minute we walked in was beyond helpful and they had such a friendly and great attitude! The arcade area felt stuffy and warm. It's not that big either, I found myself walking to the entrance just to cool down and breathe in fresh air. Their selection of video games was just "okay". Not too many options for little ones to play. Honestly, I felt like I was in a casino, strange. Experience here was meh..One baseball game stopped working mid way, one of the basketball hoop games wouldn't stop playing- it kept giving free bees, we came across another video game that was "out of order" and then I wouldn't let my kiddo play King Kong because of the sanitary health concern I had over the unclean face goggles and how many faces it touched..no thank you. (I saw no one cleaning the face goggles or swapping out after each use) I can't comment on food or bowling area because we didn't try but I will say it was a busy night and both those areas were full. It had a good size bowling alley, I don't feel I missed out. Finding parking is not a problem, Main Event is literally stuck next to Montclair Plaza. Not in a rush to go back. read more

We recently provided large balloon centerpieces and our '10' marquee letters for a 10th birthday celebration at Main Event Montclair, and we were blown away by their event space! They have a large private banquet room in the back that is incredibly spacious, beautiful, and sparking clean. It provided the perfect canvas for our setup and allowed plenty of room for the guests to enjoy. Cans back for another birthday party. The hot honey on the pepperoni pizza was a huge hit. Will be coming back for that for sure. The hostess are very helpful. They offered to help me set up, all though there is not much to do because they handle everything they helped with the little things I brought to set up. They were kind enough to also cut the cake. Just a heads up if you host a party there will be a service fee that is not the tip it is an additional fee for facility use and it doesn't include tip. Multiple bowling alleys available, (including a private VIP bowling alley which is where me and my party were in), a mini pool hall, and an arcade for the kids and kids at heart... we got quick service and the food was good. We had such a great time here! As a matter of fact, I've been back twice since mid December. We decided to have our small office party there and did the eat and play combo. I ordered the wings and was impressed with the different sauces that they had. I got the buffalo sauce since that's always my go to and had a side of the Sriracha honey. Service is HORRIBLE here. Servers at the bar are unacceptable. A bunch of kids/young adults who have no business in customer service are working here. We were very polite customers and yet this one bartender in particular just was not having a good day perhaps. Main event, do better with the hiring process!!! We had a group of baseball moms at the bar. 7 of us. This particular server named Isabelle or Isabella, blatantly sees us and completely ignores us. For a good 5 minutes straight. One of our moms tried to get her attention and she goes, "I'm helping these other people first and you're next". As she proceeds to help every single person that comes after us first and rolls her eyes. Does not even acknowledge us AT ALL. Attitude the entire time she is "helping" us. Wowwwww. Very cool spot. Took my kids to the arcade, only purchased $40 worth of tokens. The games averaged between 7 to 17 tokens. Of course it wasn't enough for my two kids but they had fun. Many game selections. All working properly. Won a decent amount of tickets. Their prizes were nice, good variety. The employees are friendly and helpful. Place looked well kept. I visited this establishment last weekend with a group of college friends, wanting to enjoy a evening filled with fun and laughter but as we headed over to the entrance, a young woman named Keegan had the body language of a person who was obligated to greet and did not offer keen suggestion about happy hour options. For someone who has been at main event multiple times and felt the open atmosphere, she left a bad experience for us college scholars. Her professionalism was unkind and her vagueness did not represent the brand to the standard I once held it at before interacting with this associate. I'd hope in the near future main event can put someone that is more knowledgeable and attentive at the front entrance for better left experience. It was our first visit to the Main Event, and we were extremely surprised at all the activities they offered. Our 12 year-old and nine year-old grandchildren absolutely had the best time ever! From the arcade games, laser tag, bowling, etc. they bounced around with excitement and awe. Our time there was filled with memory making moments and we were all truly worn out after our four hour visit. I would say that their menu was a bit lacking, but overall enjoyable. I tried ordering drinks at the bar was ignored so I found our server in the VIP section who finally took my order. The place is clean and bright. They have an arcade and bowling lanes. I'm thinking that people don't know what's inside yet. Clean interiors, a small restaurant though, compared to the rest of the square footage. I didn't take a look at the menu but I will do that the next time I am over that way. Plenty of activities for Adults and Children. I can't wait to bring my Grandkids back! Spacious and clean dining establishment with numerous large screen TV's, a bar and and lots of seating. Got the boneless chicken wings with ranch and bbq sauce on the side as well as the pizza strip board, a one and a half foot long pepperoni & cheese pan pizza with mushroom toppings and some soda for drinks. Waitress Nethalea (not sure of spelling her name) was every bit helpful and accommodating. She made sure our food arrived on time with less wait time. I have been here a number of times since opening. We usually have a positive experience as the staff are all friendly and fairly responsive. If we have any problems such as asking for help or needing something, they are quick to help. If there's any critique I have, it's that it can be quite busy at times. The larger crowds can contribute to noise. You might as well be out of luck if there's a party or some other occasion going on as well. My best advice would be to come as early as you can. Trying non-standard hours could be a good strategy, too. Sometimes you can wait hours to get a lane for bowling. Other attractions such as the arcade are fairly easy to come and go. We did try the eat and bowl approach. I am a bit mixed on how much I like it. Sure, it can be fun to take a bite in between your turn. But I am always a little cautious whether or not I'm keeping things clean as I wouldn't want to grease up the bowling balls any more than others. The quality of the food was okay. I think it is a little better as well as more pricey than the food court upstairs. I have yet to try some of the other games such as laser tag or pool. I have not been bowling in a while so I was surprised to see an additional charge for bowling shoes but it was still cheaper than other competitors. I normally come here early in the morning right when they open, and in the past the place has always been spick-and-span and top-notch clean. This time, though, I went into the game room shortly after opening and noticed it was surprisingly sticky. Some of the joysticks felt dirty, and there were visible handprints all over the windows they were so foggy it was hard not to notice. I'm not sure what happened, but it definitely stood out. First off as you walk in any restaurant you acknowledge your customers but not here! Cynthia is the rudest bartender here at main event, bar area she should not be bartending if she is not having a good day! We tried calling her plenty of time but she gave 0 fks! She was too busy gossiping/flirting with one of the other bartenders. We ordered nachos and ice were dried like my grandmas heels! The Caesar salad we ordered was the most water down drenched lettuce with cotton thrown together look like throw up we ordered it with a boiled egg didn't come with it. We still had to ask for it. She still wouldn't acknowledge us or look at us or as as if we were doing OK our drinks and not come out till maybe 30 minutes later there was no one here to keep her busy so I know it wasn't because she was busy there was no one here she just didn't care. We did get good service from one of the other bartenders also Natalie. How ever spoke to Jimmy and I can honestly say we will come back only when Jimmy is here! Love this place! Our friends invited us here with our kids and we seriously had the best time! The place is super clean, and they have everything from bowling to arcades, and places to sit and eat. We loved the private bowling rooms! We were interested in planning our kid's birthday parties and we spoke to the event sales manager, Cassandra, and she was so helpful and informative on the process. She went over and beyond to tell us what Main Event has to offer, and we can't thank her enough for showing us around the venue. We live all the way in Cerritos, and we are willing to drive all the way down to Montclair just to have our event here because of Cassandra. She is so sweet. For game play, this is a fun time. I don't take my arcade games, billiards or anything else very seriously. It's just a good way to spend quality time with friends and family. I would avoid coming here for dinner or lunch while you're playing. The service for the Family Kitchen was lacking. It took no time at all to get seated, but once we were, the service for taking and delivering our order was hit or miss, mostly miss. We had to source and find our own silverware and napkins while the staff had their lunch/dinner breaks in the booths behind us. The food was fine. The drinks were OK.
