Our family participated in the axe throwing and found it a lot of fun. I would suggest you don't do over half an hour for six or less. It's a lot of throwing. We booked it for an hour and found it too long. It's a very clean environment and the employees are helpful and kind. We would probably do it again. Rates it four stars bc we asked if we could exchange a half hour of axe throwing for the batting cages and we couldn't do it without another $30+ charge. No one was there so it could have been easily swapped out but alas .... Not. Oh well

Such a great experience! Enjoyed all the games, the staff and the vibe! I will definitely recommend this place to my friend and family.

No food just snacks and drinks Service self serves but need reservations to get in. Waiver is required before the game . It's pretty full but enough space. It is located in warehouse. Has limited parking . The light outside was not enough kids dark. It's a good place for a new hobby. Just scary

My son and I got to experience the Rage Room at Axe Lair. It was a great way to blow off some steam before his school year starts. Jaden was a gracious host and explained all rules and tips clearly. We both chose 15 items to demolish. It helped that there were fans in there, too. We played some shuffle board, connect four, and some pinball when we were done. We'll definitely be coming back. Thanks again, friends. Rage on!

Axe throwing is underrated. Nothing like launching a steel Blade into a 2x4 for stress relief & friendly competition. The venue is what you would imagine it looks like: a metal hanger, concrete flooring, cool decor, cages & wooden targets. They use a projector system to provide a variety of games including tic-tac-toe, zombie head hunter & a classic bulls-eye target. The atmosphere is friendly. The folks who work there are happy to give you pointers on how perform better. Axe throwing itself is $25ish, knife throwing is an additional $5. You have the choice of hatchets & longer tomahawks. It's one of my favorite activities to do, especially in the winter months. Definitely worth a try.

Book in advance if you want to do more than an hour session/ combo. I tried booking day of online and they didn't have spots available, I called and they said they had plenty of 1 hr sessions of both axe throwing and knives, I found it silly that they couldn't accommodate both. They seem relatively new and still figuring things out. I got there a half hour early and they allowed us to start our hour early, which worked out for our diner reservations after. They mention that alcohol would be available in the next coming weeks or so but I'd be happy without it in this place Great fun place to let some steam off and assortment of games to play on the targets.

different lanes (they have stuff to do while you wait for your lane like corn hold and jenga etc)

Fun Family activity; we bought a package for 8 ppl so 2 lanes next to each other. we absolutely had a blast. when we got there, we had a little bit of a wait. We didn't know about the waiver beforehand so we had to rush to do it. They gave you a quick instruction and demonstration how to do it. We were a group of eight. My parents being over 50 and, my siblings and others were in our 20s. We had fun there are different games that you can play with it. So yeah multiple options on how to play. We really enjoyed the duck hunt. Only thing is it took us almost half the time just trying to get the ax to stick. And we probably just needed a new piece of wood, it wouldn't stick. and we changed axes multiple times! but had fun and would come again

Ask the Community - The Axe Lair

Wanted to take my husband here Wednesday with our 11 and 6 year old. Are they able to participate or is there anything for them to do?

Hello! Children 10+ can throw at our Upland location. Other little ones are welcome to hang out, we have a big connect 4 and janga, but not too many activities outside of that.

How many people is it to a stall? Can someone come to just observe, not play?

Depending on the busyness, 4-5 people can fit into a stall. And yes! Spectators are welcome.

Hello. I have a 7 month old. Would I be able to bring him with me into your establishment?

    Yes not a problem

Is this outside or inside, and also does it have a/c?

It is Inside and it is NOT air conditioned!

Is there an age limit on kids throwing axes?

    10+

    Do you serve food?

They serve drinks and you are encouraged to bring in food from somewhere else or have it delivered. We had pizza delivered.

Do we have to make reservations?

Reservations are always recommended but walkins are also accepted on a first come first serve basis.

Can we bring our own drinks?

Hello Tony, we sale soft drinks. As for alcoholic drinks, they’re not allowed in the facility as of now.

    Are there drinks served?

Hello Steven, at the moment only soft drinks but we are walking distance to Rescue Brewery

She accommodated every single one of us, never messing up or mixing up the orders, when ask for extras, she got them out immediately and to add to all of this the food was excellent. If you ever get a chance to stop by Studio Four29 I highly recommend it, not just for the food, but also the service. Bravo to our waitress she was on point. During the halftime show, when Spanish music was playing, we noticed people in the bar hollering and making comments. Instead of letting the broadcast continue, the bar changed the entire channel and switched to country music. What made this especially frustrating was how it felt like the presence of other cultures in the bar was being ignored or dismissed altogether. It didn't feel like a neutral decision--it felt like an intentional choice to cater to one group while denying others the same space and respect. The vibe instantly shifted from enjoyable to uncomfortable. A bar hosting an event this big should be welcoming to everyone, not selective about which cultures are acceptable. Unfortunately, this experience came across as tone-deaf and, honestly, racist. There are plenty of better places to watch a game where everyone feels welcome.

As we walked in, we noticed some patrons sitting outside with drinks. We walked in, and the bar area with the bartender was quite packed. So packed, we couldn't walk towards the back. Luckily, the barista announced to us there's a server in the back and self served seating. When the patrons heard that, only then did the make room for us to walk through. We seated ourselves in the back near the kitchen, where a server named Danny was sweet enough to help us out. He had gotten us two IPAs and a margarita pizza. He also let us sample an additional IPA, since we were quite torn between two. He was very sweet and humorous, so shout out to him! He made our visit amazing! As for the pizza, I wasn't very impressed. Although I liked the dough, the pizza itself was quite plain. I've had some fantastic margarita pizzas, and perhaps this wasn't it. We promised Danny that we'd be back to try a different one, because he swears by it! Overall, the decor was quite interesting. I enjoyed seeing all the street signs and the alternative rock music they had playing. We will be back, as promised, when we crave another pizza.

We had about 26 people, and I was so concerned that I wouldn't be able to find a place that could seat us all on a Saturday evening. I emailed with Alex, the taproom manager, a little less than 2 weeks before the date I wanted, and she told me that they would be able to accommodate us! I was so incredibly relieved! After our axe throwing, we walked the VERY short walk across the street, and Alex and her staff had our tables ready to go for everyone! They made our huge group feel so welcomed and taken care of from the moment we got there! Alex explained to us that the food and drinks are ordered at the registers, which made it so easy and convenient for everyone to not have to worry about doing separate checks for a big group (that can get confusing and messy sometimes). The beers, seltzers, and food were all incredible!!! Even the most particular people in our group raved about how good everything was, and trust me when I say, that is a high compliment! The staff were absolutely incredible as well! They were so knowledgeable about the beers, so patient with our big group, and were just so helpful and kind!
