Pretty cool place to get experience some axe throwing! They also have corn hole and giant jenga off to the side for people to play. There is no alcohol here, but they served mocktails, sodas, and soft drinks for about $3-5. It's pretty fun for about an hour, there's a chalkboard for you to keep score. Definitely more fun if you are competing with your friends! Wear tennis shoes! Axes could fly back at your feet if you throw hard enough at the board and it bounces back at you!

4.5 stars but I'll round up! Such a fun place to go to. I really loved the space and the layout of this place. The only reason I didn't give a full 5 stars is bc they don't serve alcohol, but that's just for me but I can see why they shouldn't serve alcohol lol kinda dangerous if ur drunk. And maybe high schoolers would love it more bc it's just a fun activity and reasonably priced and clean! It was kinda slow the day we went and I liked it lol. But I heard it can get pretty busy especially on Tuesdays Cory the owner actually made an extra effort to come teach us how to throw the axes and also conversed with us about his business and family.Such a kind nice person!! Definitely recommend! Parking lot is big with lots of parking, and they have a menu of mocktails!

    Small axe in the target

My wife and I have been axe-throwing one other time in Lake Tahoe and it was similar, but with some notable differences. Here, the wood target is not an actual slice of log, so it was sometimes more difficult to get the axes to stick. However, here there were two types of small axes and both were much more fun than the hatchet we used at the other place (and couldn't make stick at all at the other place). Here, there is an absence of alcohol and food, but they do have snacks and mocktails. Gavin did a good safety briefing and helped my Mom feel more comfortable. At $30/person/hour, it's a reasonably affordable way to experience something new in the area and have some fun.

We came here for a Valentine's Date and it was so much fun! It was the first time here and we were just so excited to try something new out for date night! Check-in was really easy they had you sign a liability form, and then you have someone to coach you through how to safely and properly throw the axes . Each lane comes with like a table top and also a bar top that you can sit on you can order drinks or snacks at the snack bar. There wasn't too much to choose from so either either you got to eat before you come or eat afterwards. They're very small snacks. Like chips and popcorn. It's not anything big at all. So it took a while for us to figure out how to properly throw it once we got the hang of it it was so much fun! It's really empowering and it's a really great way to just release energy and tension and just have a good time! We definitely will be coming back again! It's a pretty big space. They also have a dance floor cause I think they do line dancing here and I think you can also come here for like birthday parties other events. I think it's a great place to like come with friends or double dates or whatever.

Great experience this afternoon at Whoop. Overall it was a super fun experience and great environment. Fun music playing the whole time. Coaches were awesome -- very funny and helpful. Lots of variety with the axes make it fun. Lots of shapes and sizes. Great place to go for a date night, going out with friends, or work/school event. Would recommend checking it out! Tips: --you must wear closed toed shoes to throw axes --if you are struggling, make sure to ask the employees for help, they are very willing to give you pointers and help improve your throw --coaches accept tips so make sure to give em a nice tip if the service was good! You can tip when paying initially or wait until the end and give a cash tip. --if you're going with a big group you'll want to call ahead or make a reservation online. If you're going with a small group, you should be able to walk-in

Special thank you to the staff for making my daughter's 15th birthday and absolute blowout success! I can't begin to tell you what a perfect venue this was for me to host her and nine of her friends. Not only did the staff help me figure out drinks decorating set up and overall experience. I am just thrilled to death that this venue is offering a safe haven for teenagers around this area to hang out. Have some fun do some line dancing and just celebrate life. There are so many people in the society who complain about kids having nothing to do and I give whoop ax a gold star for offering a fun Saturday night. I really can't recommend this place more and thank you again for making my daughter's birthday the best experience ever!

Happy Birthday to me! And always hang up the axes and hatchets when not in use. You can also see the cute photo opp mural on the far wall

This review is long overdue (ha! I rhymed!!) I booked a lane for me and some friends to celebrate my birthday. Booking and paying for us was an easy process. It's difficult to find as there was no large external signage to mark their spot but luckily we followed another group of flannel clad folks who were going in as well. (It's at the far corner of the desolate looking shopping center where Big 5 and We Play Loud are) It's a big space that's clean and well maintened with friendly coaching staff. We were greeted by Olaf, their resident dog, as the owners Kaden and Cory explained the safety rules and taught us how to throw. There are a variety of hatchets and axes to throw so if you're not good with one kind, there's still hope that you can hit your target with another kind. They have non-ETOH beverages for purchase as well as snacks, clean bathrooms and cornhole and giant jenga too! We'll def be back. Note: throwers must be at least 14yo, wear closed toe shoes and don't be scared to throw!

We had a group event here, and after a bit of a slow start, it got really fun. There were three different kinds of throwing axres, as well as a saw blade and a metal measuring tool! My personal favorite was the large two handed axe. Its weight and power made it fun to throw and had a satisfying thunk when it hit. The sawblade was also fun to throw and the metal protractor was different but satisfying. It was a bit freaky, throwing axes right near to everybody else but the cages they had around each target were quite effective in stopping some of the missed throws. It still feels like it's crazy to be doing that kind of thing but nobody was injured. They also have a pretty cool dance floor in a live band started up while we were there. Apparently they have square dancing and line dancing. There are also days when families can come in so kids can get in on the throwing action too. Overall, it was a fun and different activity. Worth checking out. Five stars

I've been to Whoop Axe in Lake Forest and tonight I tried the Mission Viejo location. There was a…read morelot of good and I had a lot of fun with my friends. There were a couple things that could have used improving, but mostly my experience was excellent. First thing to mention was that this time I came for the Rage Room. I was really excited and have been wanting to try one for a LONG time. We had a great time, so, first I'd like to highlight what went well... THE POSITIVES *Emma was a great instructor. She gave us the low down, rules, made sure we were safe and had tons of fun! *Just like Lake Forest, this is a giant space and has tons of axe throwing lanes, games and a snack bar. *This location even has a mechanical bull. *HUGE dance floor for line dancing. *Fun and upbeat environment. NEEDS IMPROVEMENT: *When we first arrived and checked in, we saw another group go ahead of us, despite having a reserved time for 7pm... *We were not told how long the wait would be and felt like we were just waiting around and not knowing what was happening. *Would like a little more variety of items to break...like cups and plates. *Personally for me, the rage room felt very claustrophobic, it was small, hot with no ventilation. *I did not enjoy the spray paint smell in the rage room - cool idea, but not great for breathing in. One other thing we realized is that you can do the room alone or with up to 4 people. We chose to do a group of 4, but next time I'll do it individually. While in the room as a group, you have 15 minutes total, but still have to go 1 by 1 for safety. The cost is the same per person (no deal for a group), so it makes sense to do it 1 person at a time in my opinion. Overall though, I don't want to discourage anyone from enjoying a fun night at Whoop Axe. I think they're doing a fantastic job and provide a great experience. The staff are all friendly and make sure you are instructed on how to stay safe. If you're looking for a unique experience that you'll never forget, this is the place for sure!

If you can, timing your visit for sunset on the patio is a must--there's nothing quite like that ocean view as the sun goes down. The service is consistently good as well; the staff is attentive and handles the volume well, which is impressive because this place is a bustling, busy spot during dinner hours. The Food: The food is good, though I wouldn't necessarily call it great. It's reliable and tasty enough, but the view is definitely the primary draw here. The Cons: Be prepared for a wait. It is a very popular local hangout, and there are often a lot of regulars who take up the seating near the entertainment. If you're heading there for dinner, expect to wait at least an hour for a table. Overall, it's a pleasant experience if you aren't in a rush and want a front-row seat to the coast!

I've been to the Sawdust Art Festival in Laguna Beach probably three or four times now between the…read moresummer and winter festivals and despite the crowds, the traffic, and the absurd lines... I keep going back! I usually attend with a close friend and while she's more of the purchaser, I tend to be a window shopper and craft admirer soaking it all in while seeing what surprises the booths contain. Though last monthI did pick up a few Christmas gifts for friends and family even though there wasn't much holiday specific merchandise. It felt great to support local artists and find some unique pieces. The winter festival decor is especially great with the cozy lights, festive touches, and plenty of spots that are great photo ops for both adults and families. The whole place is whimsical and creative and part of the fun is simply wandering without a plan and seeing what you find! Now for the realities: parking is insane, traffic can be really bad, and the lines for entry, food, and sometimes even the restrooms can really test your patience. The food lines in particular are ridiculous, so I usually eat before and/or plan dinner outside the festival (it's cheaper and less crazy). Pro tip: buy your ticket online and show it at the door. Do not wait in line to purchase tickets on site unless you enjoy unnecessary suffering!! All that said, the Sawdust Festival remains uniquely Laguna and there's always that sense of mystery about what you'll discover. Overall, four stars from me!

This was our first, and possibly our last time that we will be attending one of these events. The parking situation was insane. We sat in bad traffic (caused by the festival as well as the construction being done on the highway) heading to Lot 16, only to find out after 35 minutes of slowly creeping and lapping down the minimal amount of lanes of parking (along with many other drivers doing the same thing) that we should just turn around and head back to Irvine for their free temporary lot instead. So we sat in major traffic again now headed back to Irvine to hopefully catch a trolley from there. (There went about an hour of our lives wasted.) So we get back to that lot and wait another 20 minutes or so only to find out that the next trolley that pulled up leaking all kinds of stuff, and the driver telling everyone that the trolley is out of commission and that the group would have to wait for the next one. Oy! So at this point we would have called it quits and cancelled this option for the day, BUT we had already prepaid online for our tickets... So we decided to spring for an uber instead. We were originally FIRST in line, but because the trolley pulled up to the stop and just parked there (blocking) broken down, everyone turned and faced the other way and now we would have been the absolute LAST loading the next trolley. (There was a huge crowd by then.) Our uber experience was much more pleasant, but there we were once again sitting in heavier traffic heading back in the direction we were originally that morning. What a day... Long story short, we get in and there are just crowds EVERYWHERE. It was so tight at times trying to walk past the individual booths, and hearing people (including multiple vendors) just hacking and sneezing away WAS NOT helping. Our family had managed to remain healthy and disease free all Winter, and we were definitely not planning on getting the flu, COVID or whatever as this seemed like a true disease spreader event. The food and drinks area were much worse, and once we got our food we ended up squeezing ourselves into a little pocket of an area and stood to drink our drinks and eat our quick meals. After perusing the entire proximity and spending a little time chatting with a few of the vendors, we took a few photos by the central Christmas tree and a little scenery (trying my best not to get any crowds into our shots), and headed our way out to the trolley. As we passed the ticket booth, we asked a young gal which direction the trolleys would be picking up and she just rudely shrugged and said she didn't know. The afternoon and evening ended up being quite long because of all the parking hassles and crowds. I don't feel it was worth our time for that day.

The parking is not far at all from the entrance and we really appreciate that. It is also not that difficult getting out after the event, which in some places it can be a total nightmare! I liked this past event, it started earlier around 4 pm, so we had lots of light and it ended around 9:30 pm. Plenty of space in the general lawn area and this time they had picnic tables and umbrellas available. Plenty of porta potties, which are gross but you gotta deal with it! The VIP area was towards the stage and they had their own restrooms and bar. Not worth the extra price to us. You can't bring your own chairs, but several people had blankets laid out toward the front area, where the General and VIP are sectioned off. There are 2 staff people standing at the entrance of VIP so you had to show your bracelet or ticket to get in. We didn't have any food but I did order a couple of Rose wines and i'm scared to see how much they cost me hahaha! I am guessing they are about $25 a piece. The Rose was really good, dry and not very sweet. The girls at the bar serving are all so outgoing and they work fast to keep the line moving. We had our doubts, but we got tickets and a clear bag and hoped for the best. We were pleasantly surprised. Instead of TSA-level security, we were met with the casual festival ambiance we'd enjoyed at Irvine Meadows and Pacific Amphitheater. There was a good selection of beer, wine, specialty coffee, and food. Vendor and security employees were all courteous and helpful. The seating was all on a level lawn with attached tables between seats. So, not an amphitheater, but a still pleasant venue.
