I had some free time in the OC and perused various activities to fill out one of my days, and found a great deal for this escape room and thought why not? First escape room in SoCal. It's easy to get to and the parking spaces were pretty much empty. The entrance was a little weird since it looks like the backside of some abandoned department store, but it was fine when we made it inside and sat on some comfy chairs while waiting for the game to be ready. Our game master was William, who was super chill and took many great photos at the end (perhaps an aspiring photographer?). Our start time was slightly delayed but as a consolation, we got a little extra time to escape which made our day since we were right there at the end. We did the western themed escape room, which was pleasantly very fun for us, especially after the in-character intro. It was my first time being locked in at the beginning! The theming and props were well thought out and convincing. William was very responsive as we played and needed help, and despite a couple of puzzles being a little mechanically off, we more or less figured our way out. I don't think the puzzles were too hard, and can be solved by any group (though perhaps a little more on the easier side, if I had to pick) - the puzzles mainly involved doing what made sense upon seeing the cues - pretty intuitive. We're very happy with our experience here, especially with William getting us through, and can't wait to explore more of these activities the next time we drive down!

Came here for the escape room, and we escaped! The GM was super nice, and since we wanted more of a challenge, she said she'd limit us to three hints. In the end, we only needed one hint and still made it out with some time to spare. It was a great room and very immersive. The puzzles were really well designed. They seemed simple once you realized what you had to do, but they also had a bit of complexity to them while you were still figuring out the bits and pieces. Sometimes, overthinking things definitely doesn't help, since we had a bit of that, but we made it in the end! Overall, it was a really fun experience and a great challenge.

recently visited Brainy Actz and it was such a fun, different experience from the usual night out. They have so many options all in one place which makes it perfect for groups with different vibes. From their immersive escape rooms to the rage rooms and their new blackout experience, there's something for every comfort level. We personally did the splatter paint room and it was honestly the highlight. You suit up, grab your paint, and just go for it. It's messy, chaotic, creative, and way more therapeutic than you expect. Running around, throwing paint, and leaving with a canvas you actually made makes it feel like more than just an activity. It feels like a memory you get to take home. The staff was friendly and explained everything clearly before we started. The space felt organized and safe, even with all the chaos going on. I also love that you can easily turn this into a date night, girls night, birthday, or team outing without having to plan multiple stops. If you're in OC and want something interactive instead of just dinner, this is such a fun option. Definitely coming back to try the blackout experience next.

Where do I even begin, this place is downright horrible, horrible, HORRIBLE!!! I sure wish I would have seen the reviews before coming. I am usually good about these things but I dropped the ball in not seeing the reviews. I visited with my hubby & a couple of friends after seeing they had a pumpkin rage room. We were all so excited to book this experience to smash some pumpkins. That is the purpose why we booked this to begin with, however on the day of our scheduled appointment we were told they ran out of pumpkins. WTH! We drove out from Whittier for this & to be told they ran out of pumpkins when that is what we paid for is downright upsetting. Nevertheless we decided to move forward & in doing so we realized the protective equipment this place provides fails to protect. Most of the headgear is broken & so the use of both arms is unfeasible since one hand had to be used to keep the headgear in place & the suits almost all had broken zippers therefore shards of glass flying around after being broken posed a risk to all of us since they easy could have gotten on our clothing since the suits provided don't protect anyone due to the zipper not being able to be zipped closed. Also it looked like they do not clean their equipment so upon leaving we felt gross. Also another thing I want to note is that the floor was all wet & no sign was posted anywhere! If any of us were to have fallen that would lead to a lawsuit & with no wet floor sign in site we likely could win. No a/c it seems too & we got uncomfortably hot. How this place is still operating is beyond me. I have requested a refund for this awful experience & I hope I get one.

This place was 10/10 for me, my best friend, and my family! I booked a paint splatter room but I booked at the Temecula location and got them mixed up somehow. When we got to the Tustin location and realized the mistake, the clerk and the manager were super cool and let us change the location and reserve the room for the same time. It was a lot of fun for us and way less expensive than other rooms I had seen in SoCal.

I love escape rooms so I'm always excited going to one. I got to the Mystery of the Lost Point Lodge and went in 3 people total and can go up to max 6 people in my opinion. Would say medium level is doable with hints from them. Variety puzzles and locks you need to break. Cool experience!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Brainy Actz for a paint splatter experience, and I can't praise Avery enough! From the moment we walked in, her friendly demeanor made us feel excited for our session. Avery's enthusiasm was contagious, considering I had just gotten a speeding ticket before arriving and I was feeling pretty bleh! She definitely helped me forget about the hefty fine that was going to be coming in the mail in about two weeks! It was a fun and different experience than your average date activity and we will definitely be back to give the rage room a try! Hopefully without the speeding ticket this time!

Hi is there a waiting area? Or what is there to do while you're waiting on other groups?

Hi, yes we do have a waiting area for our guests to relax before their reservation as well as games for them to enjoy.

Any rooms good for children 8/10 yr old?

I felt like a lot of the puzzles in the Lodge room were very difficult and requires skill of more advanced ages. We played with 6 adults over 25 and really struggled on quite a few puzzles.

What is the max amount of time allowed to do this activity? Need to know so can ensure leave in time to pick kids up from daycare. Thanks so much!

There were times staff kept putting back toys so quickly and frequently I was getting annoyed (in my head) because I had to keep getting boats and fish back out for him in the water area. I love that they switch out the sensory items in the art room throughout the month so it's a different experience each visit. Their Wonder Lab area with painting was sooo fun! It's too bad it was only seasonal. My son loves all of it - harvesting fruits and veggies in the farm, pushing his own cart in Trader Joe's, cooking in the restaurant, etc. It is truly a great, fun space for kids. Once, the CEO played in the construction area with him for a few minutes - that impressed me. They also regularly have special event days with dance and music demonstrations, author read alouds, etc. Members Only hour is the best time to visit (they open an hour early). Once 10:00 hits, the floodgates open and it's gets substantially more crowded. With all that said, we visited on a recent Sunday afternoon - never again! Every exhibit was in total disarray (every single toy on the floor and rarely even in the right zone), older kids zooming around on kid cars like scooters, a child climbing the fake fountain in the center and standing at the top (where were the parents?! No staff member present either...it was really dangerous). I've never seen Pretend City look like that before but if that's what it was like on my first visit it would scare me away! There's lots of parking but mostly in the back lot. The front lot gets full fast and many spots are reserved for other businesses. You can bring your own food/drinks to eat in their Cafe area or purchase some from vending machines. Wish they sold coffee... Again, amazing spot and 5/5 on weekday mornings. 1/5 on weekend afternoons.

The night before our party, the RGB host actually FaceTimed us and walked us through what was available for the party, including the plates, forks, cups, chairs, and games. That was incredibly helpful because we knew exactly what we needed to bring before arriving. On the day of the party, they let us come in at 10:30 AM to set up for our 11:00 reservation. The person running the front desk was professional, helpful, and very clear about the rules and how everything worked. Most importantly, the kids had an absolute blast. They were running around, playing, and came out sweaty and happy. The games kept them entertained without the parents having to manage everything, while the adults were able to relax, eat pizza, and actually talk in the party room. When our reservation ended at 12:30, our guests helped us clean up and we finished vacating around 12:40. RGB was very reasonable and didn't try to charge us extra while we were actively cleaning and leaving. The party even continued afterward with some of the kids playing at the outdoor chess area nearby. Our son had a fantastic 6th birthday, his friends had a blast, and the parents were able to enjoy themselves too. The staff made the entire experience easy from the night before through cleanup. We would absolutely recommend RGB Run for a kids' birthday party and would happily come back.

While it is definitely a unique and creative experience in person, I left feeling that it was quite overpriced for what you actually get. The concept is fun, and it's a cool way to try something different. However, the experience itself is very short. You choose a few colors, create your artwork, and before you know it, it's over. It's entertaining and makes for great photos, but I expected a little more considering the cost. My biggest disappointment came after the experience. Once you're finished, the staff takes the canvases to dry and prepare for pickup, so you don't see them again until you return to collect them. When we picked up our two pieces, we noticed small pieces of balloon stuck to the artwork. Unfortunately, when we carefully removed them, they left behind marks and imperfections on the finished pieces. Overall, I'm glad I tried it because it was a fun and unique experience, and I can see why it's popular on social media. That said, between the price point, the short duration, and the condition of our finished canvases, it's not something I would personally do again. Still, if you're looking for a creative outing and want to try something different at least once, it may be worth checking out.

The admission prices are already very reasonable, but we ended up getting an annual pass because you can easily make your money back within just a couple of visits. The annual pass also includes free parking, which is a nice bonus. Even better, the membership gives you access to a network of science centers and museums around the country that are part of the same organization, so when you're traveling, there's a good chance you'll be able to visit another participating science museum for free or at a discounted rate. The Discovery Cube itself is much bigger than I expected from the outside. You can easily spend several hours here, especially with younger kids. Pretty much every exhibit is hands-on and interactive, which makes it much more engaging than a traditional museum. My favorite exhibit is the supermarket. You get a shopping cart with a screen and go around the store scanning different items based on the game or challenge on the screen. It's surprisingly fun and also sneaks in some learning about nutrition, shopping, and making healthy choices. Overall, this is one of those places we're happy to keep coming back to, especially with the kids. The annual pass is absolutely worth it if you live nearby and plan on visiting more than once or twice. One small tip: bring hand sanitizer. As you venture throughout the museum towards the back area, you walk into the dinosaur exhibit area. This is where they talk about fossils and various dinosaurs and there's also an explorer kit that you pay extra to try and find items and clues. Upstairs, you can have a better view of the space missile rocket that's on display and it's quite fascinating to read about rockets. Towards the back right of the museum currently there is a Scooby Doo Halloween exhibit so it was also fun to experience that area. Lastly, the most famous area is still the indoor Minh water area where you can see where is fish and stingrays. Overall a great experience for kids and adults. One less star as you have to pay $10 to park in their parking lot. I remember many years ago I used to be free, but I guess since it's more popular, you have to pay for parking now.
