Worker was very nice and enthusiastic, room was awesome we had a lot of fun definitely recommend and definitely one of my favorite rooms i've ever done (the curse of the black knight) and we completed the room with 4 minutes to spare (with a few hints)

Nice Gothic decor as we walked to our room.

After my friend and I failed our first escape room, we decided to give it another try the following day. This time, we had 4 in our party rather than 2. We booked online and reserved the Mafia Heist room on a Sunday evening. We were greeted immediately upon entering by a nice gentleman. We watched a quick video going over a couple things (such as the different type of locks and objectives of the game) before being walked to our room. Mafia Heist begins in a dark room and our first task was turning on the lights. We then broke into pairs and tried to "escape the room." We received hints when needed which did come in handy. We had another 2 locks to do before our time ran out. However, MIKEY was SO NICE and allowed us to COMPLETE the room because no one booked the room after us! We completed the room within 75 mins rather than the 60 mins. Based on Mike's gesture alone, we plan on returning to this location to try to the remaining rooms before we go to another location. I can't wait!

We did the The Dark Knight escape room and finished in 25 minutes oooooh yeahhhh. So much fun, and super clever. Definitely want to try the other rooms!

Came here with a group of 3 to do their Curse of the Black Knight room as we heard from 2 friends that it's a fun one. I had emailed them prior asking about the intensity of the climbing and crawling involved in the room as my girlfriend was facing back pains and they told us those movements aren't necessary but she will miss out on story and puzzles + mentioned that it's a 3 story escape room. The sound of that was very intriguing so my girlfriend was like "screw it, let's go" super proud of her! Upon arrival, I noticed the cool decor in the lobby and when going into the restroom, it was blue lighted with bunch of memes around the wall about escape rooms so I thought that was cool. The room we did, Curse of the Black Knight, is definitely a fun and awesome room! The crawling isn't intense and not everyone has to do it. As for climbing, it's just walking up stairs so don't be afraid if you think you need to scale up walls and afraid of heights or something LOL. The stairs are only few steps each but you do need to go back and fourth at times to solve puzzles. I don't know if it's normally the way it is or their AC broke down but only some parts of the room had cool air and other parts didn't have any ventilation so we were sweating in there. You can have up to 6 people and as few as 2 but apparently a group of 2 is $55 per person while a group of more than 2 is $37 - big difference! I would recommend as small of a group as possible as the rooms in the room is quite small and due to poor ventilation, more people = more stuffy. The puzzles weren't overly challenging but they were fun and the room decor was awesome. The music that gets played during the room adds to the excitement. Our group was able to escape with about 20 minutes left on the clock without asking for any hints. The only times our game master had to chime in were for very minor things that didn't see due to the darkness of the room. The room is linear too if that's something your group is looking for. Mind you, our group usually finish rooms with less than 5 minutes left or we don't escape at all so 20 minutes left just shows the difficulty of the room. Definitely would recommend this room as a beginner friendly room and for people that enjoys this kind of sword, knight style theme. They have 2 other rooms that we may come back for but unfortunately those rooms you need a minimum of 4 people or you will have to pay for the slots. For example, a group of 3 would have to pay for the 4th slot as well. I'd give the room 5 stars but the place as a whole 4 stars due to the ventilation. I also felt like our game master could've been more enthusiastic.

It was really fun, the host was super nice and the experience was great. Their hint system is really cool, as well as the room itself. Most escape room places feel sketchy, but this one wasn't, so that's a big plus. Overall, great experience!

Where to start?!! What a fun experience, that was a blast! We did the mafia heist escape room. The atmosphere made us feel like true detectives and the music added a spooky touch. This escape room was definitely a fun challenge and I would highly recommend! The staff was also so nice and gave us some helpful tips during our journey! What fun!

First time doing an escape room and it was very fun. We did the Heist and it's multiple rooms with lots of puzzles and fun for all ages at a time limit of one hour. Staff were nice and explained the rules and had us sign waivers.

Ask the Community - EscapeX Rooms - Irvine

Hi we are having trouble getting a hold of anyone from this business. We called , no one answered. Emailed and got a message back saying the email was invalid, and I drove to the physical location but the suite looked empty. Can someone please help?

Hi Jessica, sorry to hear you’re having trouble reaching us. Please call us at 949-536-5414 or email at info@escapexrooms.com. We are only open by appt and all reservations are made thru our website.

What's the best room for 2 people? Is it still fun with just two people?

The Curse of the Black Knight is doable with two people and plenty of fun!

What is the cost per person and do you offer a birthday/group rate?

Everything on their website shows $32/person, but I'm sure there are ways to get discounts.

Is the curse of the black knight scary and if so what kind of scary (like jump scares, being in a spooky setting...)?

It's definitely a spooky setting in that medieval kinda way but it's not scary. There are no jump scares.

I want to use this as a fun activity for team building for my staff. If I have 20 people who I want to participate. Can you accommodate that somehow?

Thanks for your interest in our venue! We can easily accommodate your group across our two large escape games, The Attic and Mafia Heist and run the games concurrently so that the group can arrive and play at the same time. Let us know if we can… Read more

How scary is the attic in a scale of 1-10? Like a 10 would be with a live actor or pitch black and a 5 would be eery special fx...

It wasn't very scary at all...maybe a 3. But fun as hell.

My daughter and her friends want to go, but is it age appropriate for 10 year olds?

Hi Jose! Our games are family friendly, we just require adult admission to be purchased as well as an adult to be present and participating in the games with them. Hope this information helps! Feel free to contact us directly at… Read more

What is the ideal number of participants? I have done rooms in the past with 12 and even though the room states they allow that many, it seemed like too many participants.

Hi Christina, thanks for your question! The ideal number of participants definitely depends on the skill level/experience of the players (and of course how well they work together), but I would say generally 6-8 players is safe for the average… Read more

We have 3 girls ages 11-13. Is this appropriate for them?

It's a fairly dark and creepy room, with maybe one or two moments that might make you jump just a little if you're standing in a particular spot. If they are not easily scared this room is probably fine, especially if they have done other rooms… Read more

Every time we come to the Escape Game and try a new room, we are blown away by the tech they use. It's not-your-average mom & pop escape room, and for that reason we LOVE it. It operates with a first-come reservation basis, but each room has a max of 8-12 players. This means that you can bring your whole group in, and there's a chance you might have some strangers joining you as well if there's still space. We tend to wait last minute and book the rooms with no reservations yet so we can try to do them on our own. This time, our game keepers Ally and Marcy were so sweet and helpful. Can't recommend her enough! We will keep coming back!

These are public escape room games meaning you and anyone out there can sign up for the SAME room for the SAME time/date. Most rooms here fit up to 8 people which would be perfect if you had a large friend group. BUT if you only had 2-4 people and sign up ahead of time, be prepared to enter the room with new faces. Games start pretty on time, so make sure to be there with waivers signed! Also, they occasionally offer 20% off your next game once you escape the first! These games lean more on the tech side utilizing digital screens, electronic doors/buttons, lights, and puzzles - all of which I love! It adds more flavor to the game, while still providing the traditional puzzles feel with some rooms having locks, ropes, and mind-tingling puzzles. I would venture to say I like having more physical handheld clues like papers or props for decoding, but this place does get the job done. Some of the puzzles even require you to work simultaneously with your escape room team which creates more thrill! I have had friends that have gone here to the same rooms I have done where the rooms are slightly changed depending on the amount of people in the room or if the tech is broken - so just be aware that your experience could be different than others. For the price of about $42 a person you can't go wrong since there are multiple options that vary in difficulty from 3/10 to 9/10. Overall would recommend especially for a quick fun nigh
