I recently played the new game here "Trapped in Slime: Escape the Slime Lab" and it was super fun! I love the theme and the nostalgic throwbacks. They have clever and unique puzzles. This is such a fun game!

Date of visit: 7/23/2021 My family and I (total 4 people) did Secret of the Illuminati and IT WAS AWESOME! We managed to recover the artifact (statue) but didn't have enough time to escape the room. Regardless, we still had so much fun trying to resolve all the puzzles in the room. Our Game Master was funny and very helpful. And the other employees who were happened to be there were also very kind and supportive. Will definitely refer this escape room to friends and relatives and we are looking forward to going back there with a vengeance and this time we will escape lol!

We came here last night for one of the escape room games. We were delighted to have such an excellent and personable host, Bryan, to share the details of how the game works and everything. We came as a party of 6 and a few were first timers. I loved that this escape room had 2 rooms to solve puzzles for. A few were kind of tricky but we worked together as a team and were able to have unmimited hints if needed for the trickier ones. We plan to come back soon to try the other rooms and fun

We did it with 20 seconds to spare!

I want to give a shout-out to our gamemaster Brian. He was so welcoming, friendly , attentive and concise especially when we needed him for hints to guide us. Brian mentioned that this site for their escape rooms, they have a tv monitor to deliver hints. It helps with the immersion!! Our group of 4 had a mix of newbies and seasoned escape artists. We did the Mission to Mars. The creativity of the escape rooms were fantastic! Our seasoned friends mentioned that this particular room is not your typical escape room with multiple locks. We love the tech theme and the challenging puzzles. We definitely had to take a few hints due to our speed. The last puzzle before we escaped had my butt cheeks clenched from the anxiety. We escaped with 20 seconds to spare!! In hindsight, we should have started with an easier puzzle for our newbies (me!) but it was so fun to interact with the puzzles and have my friends commandeer the mission. I'm so excited to get into more escape rooms because of this wonderful experience.

Ask the Community - Puzzle Workshop: Escape Room

Is trapped in time a room or a VR game?

Hi there, Trapped in Time is an escape room experience at our location in Irvine. Hope to see you soon!

Do you have for a group of 10?

Hi there, we recommend up to seven players for several of our games. For a party of ten, we recommend splitting up into two teams to complete our rooms. Thank you, and hope to see you soon!

Hi, do you host kids birthday parties, specifically for 10 year old girl? thanks.

Hi Stephanie! We do not have a dedicated space for a birthday party, but there is outdoor seating nearby if you'd like to do refreshments and hang out after the escape room. Our Trapped in Time room can be modified for younger players - we asked… Read more

I did my homework, downloaded the Morty app, combed through reviews there and here on Yelp, and this one stood out as the best option for just two people. I didn't want to risk a "meh" room or get paired up with random strangers. Without giving anything away: - Wear comfy clothes you don't mind crawling around in - If you need reading glasses, definitely bring them, it can be a little dim in places - I don't think I'd do this room with more than 3 people, I feel like 2 is perfect We barely made it out... with 10 seconds to spare! The adrenaline rush at the end was amazing, and it completely hooked us. Now we're already talking about which escape room to tackle next. If you're looking for a solid two-player room, this one hits the mark.

Their main lobby has lockers to store any belongings you don't want to carry around for the following hour. They have two rooms here and we decided to do the "Irvine School of Wizardry and the Dragon Wand" room. The entrance for this room is at the back of the building. After checking in, you will go back out the front door, and your game master will lead you outside and around to a door at the back of the building. The initial room is unique with its very high ceiling which gives it a very spacious feel. It makes great use of every square inch of space with great themed décor and interaction. While it has some traditional puzzles, a good part of the flow is pretty different than your average escape room. You discover, put together, and figure out what spells to cast when and where. You even get to mix up some real potions. Our game master Habby was friendly and very helpful as we needed quite a few nudges. I think we went a little over an hour, but we were close, so he graciously gave us a little extra time to finish up and escape. Anybody who is into the wizardry theme will absolutely love this room. For a small group of two, their rooms are expensive at $60 per person. But the price drops to $40 per person for three or more. As spacious as the first room is, I think the remainder would become crowded with any more than four people. We had a real fun time doing this room. Their other "Irvine School of Wizardry and the Goblin's Secrets" room has a little higher difficulty level, so we'll bring a few friends along when we return to try that one. If you are tired of the run of the mill escape rooms with mostly just locks, this room at Hidden Donkey definitely is a breath of fresh air and worth a try.

Phones aren't allowed in the rooms and they provided lockers to leave personal belongings. There were 5 different rooms to choose from. We chose to do the Zombie Apocalypse. They have two rooms that are supposed to be scarier and two that are not scary at all. The zombie was in between. We had one hour to complete the room. The room had a bunch of clues. Some were easier than others. We actually bypassed 3 of the locks because we accidentally got the factory reset. That took a little bit out of the fun for us since we didn't need to find the codes for those locks. We end up finishing with 26 minutes left on the clock. Our game master helped out with clues when we needed it and got stubborn and stuck on a single clue. There was 6 of us and total came out to $42/person. This room was fun, but for this price, I was expecting a more intricate escape room with more rooms or interactions. I'd be fun to come back to try the other rooms they have, but I might prefer to go to a different escape room instead.

We began with the Aji tuna on crispy rice, topped with a delicate sliver of jalapeño and crispy shallots, a perfect balance of freshness, spice, and crunch. The second course was Stefanie's famous focaccia...one sweet and one savory. The savory version featured parmesan, her homemade bread and butter, pickles from her garden, and a touch of mustard seed. The bread, made simply with flour, water, and salt, takes two to three days to create. The sweet focaccia was equally impressive, topped with brie, honey, and a guava jam made from her own garden-grown guavas... truly special. Next came the sweet potato course, made from her garden's harvest and paired with roasted pine nuts and coconut-shaved gnocchi in brown butter. The flavors were rich yet comforting, and the presentation was artistic and thoughtful. The main course... short ribs with a stunning potato gratin, was a showstopper. The short ribs were tender and deeply flavorful, garnished with delicate edible flowers from her garden, while the gratin was layered beautifully and topped with a fragrant chimichurri. Dessert was one of the best I've ever had: a sticky toffee date cake with a caramel apple sauce made from apples in her garden, served with raw cream vanilla bean ice cream. The balance of warmth, sweetness, and texture was perfection. The wine pairings, thoughtfully curated by Oscar from Sequoia Grove Winery, elevated the entire experience, from the velvety Merlot to the bold Cabernet, every sip complemented the food flawlessly. What makes Chef Stefanie so special is her warmth and authenticity. She shares her passion for food and where it comes from in a way that's engaging and educational, never pretentious. She spends time presenting each dish beautifully, with an artist's eye and a chef's heart. Her artistry, attention to detail, and genuine love for her craft come through in every course.
