Came here with a big group of friends and it was a good experience. The rooms have really different themes so there's something for everyone, and the staff were friendly - their hints were helpful without totally giving it away. Really easy to find, Google Maps took us right to the location and there is ample amount of parking too. The place was clean and they also have some fun photo props to use after. Pretty decent pricing and if you're looking for a good group activity - highly recommend it! read more

We have played here before (CSI Hollywood) and because of that positive experience booked the new room Mission to the Stars. I was extremely disappointed in this room for the following reasons (no spoilers, all commentary on the room itself). 1. They say at the start of the game that it's mental, not physical. However 2 of the puzzles require you to work on puzzles on the floor for extended periods of time. You are forced to crouch, kneel or twist to complete the puzzles. As someone recovering from a running injury, it was physically challenging and uncomfortable. 2. There is a "computer" that speaks to you throughout the game. It's quiet and garbled. You have to wait for it to repeat directions which can be frustrating. 3. Some of the puzzles are complex and require you to write down letters/numbers. They do not provide a writing surface (many provide dry erase board or scratch paper) and as a result we had to use phones to take notes. 4. The temperature - we visited in July and it was uncomfortably hot in the small room. They have a fan in the room but it does little to cool it down. Overall, I will not return and would instead try other escape games in the Irvine area. read more

Date of visit: 7/23/2021 My family and I (total 4 people) did Secret of the Illuminati and IT WAS AWESOME! We managed to recover the artifact (statue) but didn't have enough time to escape the room. Regardless, we still had so much fun trying to resolve all the puzzles in the room. Our Game Master was funny and very helpful. And the other employees who were happened to be there were also very kind and supportive. Will definitely refer this escape room to friends and relatives and we are looking forward to going back there with a vengeance and this time we will escape lol! read more

Highlight recommend this place! No wonder they are the top rated escape room in this area. Super fun Shoutout to Marcus for making our experience memorable and fun! They were professional and super helpful when we needed hints. We did the CSI Hollywood room (intermediate) and this was a challenge for our group of 5! They allow unlimited hints, as long as more than half of the group wants the hint. This was great for getting us to have the full experience without deducting from our 1 hour time. One of the more fun escape rooms I've done. Awesome 80s theme! This beginner-level room was actually pretty involved but I'm glad it had enough challenges. We did this one with my 12-year-old nephews and it was their first escape room. We ran into some obstacles such as one puzzle didn't trigger anything when we solved it. So we didn't even know that we had solved it until I tried to continue working on it and the game master via tv screen said that it was already solved. Another puzzle was faulty. A door took extra effort to open even though we solved it correctly. Unlimited hints were helpful but we often received hints for puzzles we've already completed. All that said, we still managed to escape! The gamemaster and staff were super awesome! The price point was reasonable. Easy parking. read more

We came here last night for one of the escape room games. We were delighted to have such an excellent and personable host, Bryan, to share the details of how the game works and everything. We came as a party of 6 and a few were first timers. I loved that this escape room had 2 rooms to solve puzzles for. A few were kind of tricky but we worked together as a team and were able to have unmimited hints if needed for the trickier ones. We plan to come back soon to try the other rooms and fun read more

I want to give a shout-out to our gamemaster Brian. He was so welcoming, friendly , attentive and concise especially when we needed him for hints to guide us. Brian mentioned that this site for their escape rooms, they have a tv monitor to deliver hints. It helps with the immersion!! Our group of 4 had a mix of newbies and seasoned escape artists. We did the Mission to Mars. The creativity of the escape rooms were fantastic! Our seasoned friends mentioned that this particular room is not your typical escape room with multiple locks. We love the tech theme and the challenging puzzles. We definitely had to take a few hints due to our speed. The last puzzle before we escaped had my butt cheeks clenched from the anxiety. We escaped with 20 seconds to spare!! In hindsight, we should have started with an easier puzzle for our newbies (me!) but it was so fun to interact with the puzzles and have my friends commandeer the mission. I'm so excited to get into more escape rooms because of this wonderful experience. read more

Our game hosts were Blake and Ally. Rules were very clear and big no-nos were told to us in a strict but friendly manner. We enjoyed the high energy enthusiastic in setting the scene for us. We chose Mission to the Stars (level: hard). It was my 5th escape room experience, but I had not done a difficult game before. The decor and room details for this one are very well done but as elaborate as some other rooms I have been in. I was a bit grateful for the cleaner design as it was very obvious what was part of the game and what was not, so you're not wasting time staring at decoration items. Diversity of puzzles was good. This was the first time it was clear for me which puzzles we were actively working on and every time we completed a task, the next task was obvious. Usually, I am not sure which clues are to be used now or later, but not the case here. The tasks could be a bit difficult, but overall a fun and challenging game. There were 5 of us and I think it was a good number. 4 might be better so there are enough tasks to go around. It would be too challenging for just 2 people (at least, in my opinion). I would recommend this escape room to others. It is the only hard level one offered so maybe start intermediate first. read more

I brought my niece and nephew here for a birthday! We did the trapped in time room, the location is clean and easy to find. We were greeted by a gentleman named Jake who was so kind to all of us, and explained everything in detail for the kids. The room itself was cool, we did a modified "beginner" version for the kids and we still needed help lol. Overall we were able to escape with a few clues. The kids enjoyed and we had a great time bonding. Great experience and great customer service from Jake! read more

I really don't want to give a bad review to one of my favorite escape room, but the Secrets of Illuminati really disappointed me. I've tried all the other rooms in puzzle workshop, this one is not what I'm looking for. 1. The game master helped us today was not professional. She didn't give us useful hint, and we've wasted 30mins for solving one puzzle. When we enter the second room, only have 20mins left. 2. Our game started at 12:30, but we came early at around 12:15. I hope the game master could give us more time to finish all the puzzles (we have about 3 puzzles left), but she came in at 1:15 and times up. The previous game masters gave us 5 to 15mins after 1 hour. 3. The puzzles in Illuminati are not so fun, and many of them don't go in order , just lockers after lockers... I might not going to try new rooms here. This one really let me down. read more

We booked last minute, that evening for a time that wasn't absurdly late (thank you!). Especially compared to the other available escape rooms in the area, which we not available until almost midnight. They only do private games, so it was nice not worrying about others joining us. Had a great experience on our first escape room. There was 3 of and it was fun and well done! It was family friendly as we had our 13 year old daughter with us and while we escaped from Trapped in time! It's a great beginner course for sure and can't wait to try out the others. We made a group reservation and the location was closed when we arrived at 7pm. Our reservation was for 7:15pm we waited around until 7:21pm and it was clear no one was in the building as the parking lot adjacent to escape room was empty too. After calling to receive a refund the lady on the phone said she could not do it. There was no way to get our money back after we told her the building was closed and locked. It almost feels as if we were scammed by this business, I would never recommend making reservations as the building will not be open or staffed and there will be no way of getting a refund. Seems like this business is just good at taking and keeping your money in return for a locked building, no customer service or staff to run the building read more

I've done a handful of escape rooms in the OC area and this has to be the best one by far. I found it right here on Yelp and saw that it's reviews blew all of the others out of the water, so a group of coworkers and I decided to give it a try. Our group went with the CSI: Hollywood room, eager for a crime-solving, case-cracking, high-stakes adventure, and we were not disappointed. Booking through the website was quick and easy. A nice touch was that I originally booked for six but we had another member join last minute, and when we arrived onsite we were able to get her paid and added to the party with no sweat. Not a lot of rooms are willing to accommodate an additional member, so that was great! Plus it's a private room, so we didn't have to worry about clashing with other groups. The room itself has the best set design and atmosphere of any escape room I've done. Every puzzle and prop added to the super immersive atmosphere. The puzzles were very linear at first and we got a little overconfident, but as the game progressed we realized that we were in for quite a few twists and turns along the way. Our group had mixed levels of experience, but everyone was able to contribute and quickly get into the swing of things. Our GM was super helpful and knew exactly where we needed hints or were getting sidetracked. We managed to escape and solve the mystery with four minutes to spare! Everyone in our group had a blast and, most important, felt like they had been able to solve puzzles and contribute. We couldn't stop talking about it for the entire drive back!
