My group of 4 went to Intrepid to try out the Jewel of the Sea room and was very pleasantly surprised by the experience! It was our first time trying a room at Intrepid and wasn't sure what to expect, but the decorations and themes were great, and the staff/game master was also really friendly and helpful. We ended up getting a gift card for a future room that day as you could get same day discounts. The lobby was mostly tropical and adventure themed, and I love that they had some puzzles lying around the lobby for those escape enthusiast to try while they're waiting. The merch was also very creative and cute (I especially really like the little mouse!). Definitely interested in coming back and trying the other rooms. read more

Our family has done a fair number of escape rooms. We completed the Jewel of the Sea today and it was one of the tougher we have done in a while. Joey was our guide and he was great and really took on the role with energy. The staging and operations of the room itself was great. The tech was good and I loved that there were not just combo locks to solve. Most every puzzle had some automation attached - which is great! The story was good and authentic to match the settings and solutions. The ball puzzle (not really a spoiler) was GREAT(and hard)! We will be back to Intrepid, they definitely invested in the setup, operations and entertainment value of this experience. read more

We have had the Tipsy Tailor escape room on our list of rooms to do for a long time. It was originally at another business that closed. We were happy to see that Intrepid acquired the room recently, and did a refresh on it. We have done the Stolen Relic and Jewel of the Sea rooms here and had a great time. The lobby was decorated nicely for Christmas. The voice activated talking parrot is a fun feature. We were greeted by our game master Gwen who led us into the room. The room has a fun concept and is immersive with multiple sub-rooms. One person in your group even gets to dress up, and that happened to be me. There is a good variety of locks, mechanical puzzles, and problem solving puzzles. There are quite a few puzzles, and our group of four split up into pairs quite a bit to explore and work on different things. This is not a typical escape room in which you solve a string of puzzles and then "get out". In the Tipsy Tailor, you solve puzzles and collect as many bottles of tonic along the way as you can. Unless your team is extremely good, you will probably use up the whole hour. We used the whole hour and found about 90% of the tonics. It does feel like your typical escape room with a natural progression to the end. We all agreed that this was one of the most fun rooms we've done. Our game master Gwen was great. She was probably one of the most energetic and in-character game masters we have had in the 50+ rooms we have done. Thanks Intrepid! read more

If you love solving a mystery, this escape room is the place for you. Fun experience for a group for brainstorming coming together as one. It can be challenging in the beginning, but as you figure out the first few clues will get easier. So many cool effects when you solve part of the clue. We were given an hour to escape the room. It does go by quickly because you are having fun. We had picked the Stolen Relic theme where a monkey needed to be found. The entrance of the place is a jungle theme. A lot of details within the decorative check in area. They had cute little treasure chests with stickers in them and also offered other items for purchase. Absolutely would love to do this again. We did the jewel of the sea and it was so fun! Their designs are amazing, attention to details and just the overall feel! Our host was great too, she got very into it all! I'm trying not to give away anything so that's why everything sounds vague but I would say this is a medium to easier room that is good for 2-4 players. It was pretty dark and you can use your phone as a light to read or see details if needed. Also their lobby is pretty cool! I'll definitely come back to check out their other rooms! We did the pirate ship room and it was SO COOL! The kid that helped us thru the room was so funny and patient with us, we definitely struggled a few times. The puzzle on the ceiling blew my mind, it was so hard but so fun. I would love to try more of the escape rooms here, but the pirate ship was sooooooo good. read more

I hired Intrepid Escape Rooms for my son's 10th birthday party. We had a group of twelve 10 and 11 year old boys who were split into 2 groups to complete the Enchanted Treasure Box Adventure. They did two 40 minutes sessions and the boys seemed to really enjoy it. A few of them said it was too easy (but they may have just been saying that once they solved the challenge) so maybe next time, they should try to make it a bit harder for the older kids. I wish they had a 30 minute game because 40 mins was quite awhile for the 2nd group to wait to play. All in all, the kids had a great time and I was really happy that they were entertained in a screen-free way. We played 6 games total at Intrepid: Terminal, Haunted Terminal, enchanted treasure chest (mobile), The Stolen Relic, Jewel of the Sea and their latest acquisition: Tipsy Tailor. Our GM Allison was very engaged and made our stay both fun and memorable with her impressive acting skills and by customizing the game to our specific groups needs. She also spent ample time with us post game to explain any questions we had during the debrief and really went the extra mile by stamping our passports. All of the rooms here are top notch quality, and the staff here will cater to you regardless of your skill level. There's also a lot of fun merch in the lobby and it's honestly like a warmup for their rooms, which is a nice touch. Our latest game was Tipsy Tailor, but over the course of the three years Intrepid has been open we've had many GMs, and never a bad experience. Came here on a Wednesday night this past week, party of 2, for the "Jewel of the Sea" escape room. Purchased by a friend on Morty for about $45 per person (which was discounted compared to purchasing directly). We had the 5:20pm reservation. We got out with 13 minutes to spare. Pros: - A really well-designed and aesthetically pleasing escape room! Everything in the decor was very detailed and engaging. The paintings, the things we could touch and manipulate, everything was really creative. - Medium difficulty I would say - my friend and I both have done escape rooms before but we aren't super intense, our vibe is we want to win but we also want to have fun. - Our guide was very helpful and friendly! - Photo ops at the end both inside and outside the escape room. - Super fun story overall, and we laughed a lot too. I liked that there was one part where it required a bit of teamwork (involves ropes and a ball) but I think it is possible to do with 1 person if you absolutely want to. - clean bathroom available before you enter the rooms Cons: - The only thing I think could have been better is I felt like we were given clues a bit too quickly without us asking, I think I would have preferred that the host let us struggle a bit more with the puzzle before giving us a clue. But overall I think it kept us on track with timing. 10/10 would come again! They let us buy discounted gift cards for next time, so if you know you'll come back it's a decent deal. read more

We did not realise it at the time of booking, but The Tipsy Tailor was our 100th room, played mostly as a duo, and our second game with Intrepid Escapes in Tustin, after The Stolen Relic (see original Yelp review). Back then, the only other room they had was The Haunted Terminal, and we are thrilled that they have since added two more rooms as well as a mobile adventure to their business. Since our previous review, they have fine-tuned their luscious lobby - still gorgeous and world-transporting, although folks with long legs and heavier people should be aware that the gorgeous seating there are a little low (!) - and now include passports, pins and stamps to their merch). Their all-gender restroom, too, was clean and nicely dressed. We did not need to use it, but it was still worth a peek! We managed to reserve our spot on board the time-and-space-travelling Intrepid Express on a Friday morning, and it could not have been a better decision. The Tipsy Tailor is a no-loser room (!) and since our goal was to see the entire room as well as solve all the puzzles, ideally within an hour, it was nice that by playing on a weekday morning, we were able to enjoy a more relaxed game. So, the lobby was breathtaking and Erin, our game host, was an energetic breath of fresh air. We were brought on board the impressive Intrepid Express when our room was ready, and given the background to our game, chosen for Dry January, although it was actually set in Philadelphia, Independence Day, 1926. As members of the Intrepid Adventure Society, we were to visit a speakeasy known for supplying "giggle water", find a bad batch among the many hidden, and change time! Once we had been advised of all the kinks in the game, given our assignment, optioned to incorporate the in-theme time checks for a more immersive experience, our game started. Our game included a live actor who was not actually in the room with us as we were solving the puzzles, but nevertheless added to the fun. All the puzzles were well-aligned with their associated locks, and it was hard to choose a favourite: two more memorable ones involved a map of the states and wine barrel, which would be fun played by two, but an achievement when done by one person as the other bar tended! There was a lot to love about The Tipsy Tailor: our favourite was the concept of acquisition in 60 minutes versus escaping or getting out of the room - and there was total immersion from story to puzzles to game goal. Our entire experience began with introduction to the Intrepid Adventure Society in the lobby, and continued on board the Intrepid Express before we started the game. We loved the fun story, headlines and all the supporting props and the hand-built room (the maintenance girl did the floor of the apothecary). This was what we call a G3 room, with G1 locks - there was a number of conventional locks, but our path to opening them was filled with little surprises and "ooh!" moments. There was no bending over or crawling about, and there was a ton of dressing-up opportunities. In fact, while we managed to find all the moonshine there was, we could have done it in a shorter time, except one of us was having so much fun with cute items in the game ... We found the cost of playing to be fair and we really enjoyed having Erin as our game host. We found not just all we set out to find, but even managed to secure the game-changer in a safe place - so our time of 62 minutes was something to be chuffed about! We loved that we were able to have our photo taken in the room, with props and costumes, and that it was texted and emailed to us within an hour after game, and the free stickers after the five-star game was a nice touch. Irvine and Tustin, too, have grown so much since our previous game there, it was easy to find places to eat after. This review has been posted on Trip Advisor, Google and Yelp. read more

my friends and i booked for the evening on a friday. in the waiting room, you check with in a parrot (very funny) and there are plenty of trinkets to fiddle with (and there's a little puzzle that can be solved as well). we booked for the ghost hunt room and our guide was very helpful with providing hints when she noticed we were stuck on a puzzle for awhile. the hints weren't super frequent which i appreciated because i did want time to think about the different puzzles. i liked that objects were hidden around the room for us to find and how interactive the whole room was. the "goo" that covered the walls and electrical boxes made me giggle too. i would love to come back to try the other rooms that intrepid offers! parking was easy and the building was easy to find, and intrepid is located near a bunch of food places that you can eat at when you're done with your escape room read more

I recently came to Intrepid Escape Room to celebrate a 9 year old's birthday party. It was a group of three 9 year old girls and three moms and my daughter's & my first escape room experience. It was a lovely experience thanks to our guide (Alison) and Flint the parrot who helped us through finding the Jewel of the Sea. I really didn't want to interfere too much and allow the kids to go through as much of the escape room as possible but one of the puzzles really couldn't be done without adult/tall people assistance. The time definitely sped by and although it was definitely a challenge, we never felt frustrated or defeated by the process. My daughter is now hooked on the experience and can't wait for her next escape room. I would definitely recommend Intrepid Escape Rooms for families and young ones. read more

We played Jewel of the Sea, and out of the 100+ rooms i've played, this room has one of the BEST set designs that I've ever seen! It was such a fun game! Our game master was super super nice and she gave us help at the PERFECT moments, I couldn't have asked for a better GM! The room was super fun, even for a group of adults, there were 6 of us total, and i'd say this is great for a group of 4-6!!! It's somewhat nonlinear, but I can definitely see it being kid friendly! SO MUCH FUN! Came here with my family for our yearly escape room event, and we did not leave disappointed. We did The Terminal, and thought it was wildly creative. All of us agreed that it was set up well, and nice because we all felt included with finding clues. I liked that each person felt like they had a task to do. Dani (our host) was fun, friendly, and full of life. We did ask for 2 clues, and she did a great job assisting without giving any answers away. We all agreed that we would come back and try the other room after our great experience. For the people wondering how hard it was: we got out with under 10 minutes to spare (and 2 hints). We had various degrees of "escape room professionals" in our group, and we all felt equally challenged! There are plenty of parking spaces. They are fairly new and have been around for a year or so. We decided to do an escape room called The Stolen Relic and just called an hour before to see if they were available. Luckily, they had a time slot available for us and so we went. All their escape rooms are private, so you won't be put with strangers. We had a group of 4 people and once we arrived, we signed the waivers. Once everything was set, Jordan took us in and gave us the story. We had an hour to solve everything and he gave us hints throughout. The difference between this escape room and others is that you don't see a clock countdown in the room, so you won't know how many minutes you have left. And they randomly give you hints (unless it's part of the story), even if you didn't ask for it (which is fine for us, but some might prefer not to have it like that). The puzzles for our escape room were fun, linear, and not that hard if you have a good group. I think I was mostly lost, but I watched my group have fun as they scrambled to solve puzzles. Overall, it was a fun experience and Jordan was great! My group and I did the Jewel of the Sea room. The prop work is immaculate, from the escape room, lobby, waiting room, and even the bathroom. It was a very immersive experience from start to finish, and it was beyond enjoyable, especially with our GM Dani, they were amazing. The non-linear format didn't hinder us, and the puzzles themselves weren't too difficult and were fun to solve. We would love to come back and try the other rooms. read more

My party of four was looking for a spontaneous activity to do in the Orange County area...and what better activity to do together than an escape room?! We were extremely lucky that Intrepid Escape Rooms was able to get us in within the next hour for "The Stolen Relic" escape room. As an escape room enthusiast, I've been to my fair share of escape rooms so if I'm being completely honest, I'm a bit picky when it comes to the overall escape room experience. I always look for a variety in puzzle complexity, a fun storyline, a difficulty that carries enough challenge, and many other factors. Essentially, if an escape room is a memorable experience or has unique puzzles that resonate with me, that's an A+ in the books. I've never heard of this company before, but I was impressed as soon as I walked into the waiting room. It literally looks like a JUNGLE and I've never been to an escape room location with such a cool themed waiting room. Lastly, I wanted to give a shoutout to Jordan for being such a kind, chill, and awesome escape room host. Intrepid Escape Rooms definitely hit the nail on the head and this was one of the more enjoyable escape rooms I've done.
