Every time we come to the Escape Game and try a new room, we are blown away by the tech they use. It's not-your-average mom & pop escape room, and for that reason we LOVE it. It operates with a first-come reservation basis, but each room has a max of 8-12 players. This means that you can bring your whole group in, and there's a chance you might have some strangers joining you as well if there's still space. We tend to wait last minute and book the rooms with no reservations yet so we can try to do them on our own. This time, our game keepers Ally and Marcy were so sweet and helpful. Can't recommend her enough! We will keep coming back!

Funny enough, it felt similar to classic video game puzzles, like ones you'd find in Legend of Zelda. Even though it was my first experience, that familiarity totally sucked me in and I was hooked. I also want to appreciate room set up, build, sound, music, and over all design. The quality of the room was phenomenal, and there were moments I stopped to appreciate how it all came together. Great job EscapeX, we hope to be back soon!

Our family visits escape rooms regularly and has done enough of them to understand the rules,…read moreetiquette, and the importance of protecting a room's puzzles and intellectual property. Unfortunately, this was one of the most disappointing customer service experiences we've had. We booked this room as part of our Father's Day celebration and spent over $200 for our family of five. During the game, the operator abruptly entered the room and informed us we were being removed for taking photos. He stated that he had warned us multiple times over the microphone, but none of us heard a single warning. Had we heard even one warning, we would have immediately stopped. In fact, my son works at an escape room and is very familiar with industry expectations and the reasons behind them. We are not the type of customers who intentionally break rules. What was most frustrating was not the rule itself. If a business has a strict no-photo policy, that's completely understandable. The problem was the complete lack of willingness to consider that their communication system may not have been heard. When we explained that nobody in our group heard any warning, the conversation quickly became about defending the decision rather than trying to understand what happened. The result was that our Father's Day outing ended with our family being escorted out, confused, embarrassed, and upset. My daughters were nearly in tears because they felt like they were being treated as if they had done something intentionally wrong. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen. What separates great businesses from poor ones is how they handle them. A simple conversation, a chance to correct the behavior, or even a willingness to investigate whether the warnings were actually audible would have gone a long way. Instead, we left feeling that customer experience was secondary to enforcing a policy. I rarely leave negative reviews and generally prefer to support local businesses. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this experience.

At first I was hesitant with going in only a group of 4, as usually 6ppl is a good amount, but things worked out well. Everyone got their share of solving puzzles and contributing to the plot. Unique things here I'ven't seen at other escape rooms: + An eerie projector display triggered as part of the ominous plot. + The murderer turning out to be someone familiar! (no spoilers) Other likes: + Red herrings were minimal. I don't like red herrings in an escape room. + Good amount of parking. Quiet, safe, peaceful ambience. + Conveniently located near the 405. + The staff were nice and helpful and good at immersing us in the plot. - Weird, after the experience, they email+text us saying they have our photos, but we click the link, there's no photos. - Gripe: Wish I got a chance to put my Braille or Morse skills to use haha

Regardless of which room you do here, be sure to check the directions as most of their rooms are at one location, and Sev3n and Jester are in a different building a few blocks away. The two games in this building are also upstairs. This room is based on the popular movie Se7en. I hadn't seen the movie in years so we watched it a few nights before just to get a refresher. Knowledge of the movie is not necessarily required, but you will relate to the room better and be a little more prepared. When you ask for clues, they are provided using voices of characters from the movie which was a great touch. The overall room is a mix of linear and non-linear with various locks and even more mechanical puzzles. This room had a lot of unique puzzles that we hadn't seen anywhere else. There are a ton of puzzles, and they kept our team of four very busy to the very last minute. This room also has the largest number of sub-rooms we have ever encountered. We weren't sure if we were going to escape in time, but we managed to solve the final puzzle with only one minute left. We didn't feel so dumb when we learned that this is their hardest room out of the six different rooms they have. Definitely bring your "A" game for Sev3n! Our game master Callie was excellent. She started us out great, was very timely on clues when requested, and we enjoyed discussing different elements of the room with her afterwards. She said she had only been working there for a short time, but she seemed like a seasoned veteran to us. We were again offered a 30% return discount. Be sure to check their website as they frequently have promotions. We will definitely return soon to do their other rooms.
