The famous Escape Room Master Peih-Gee Law in the Treasure Room at Brain Games
Angela C.

I have not been to that many escape rooms, but Brain Games Escape Rooms will cause a new addiction! Thanks to the enthusiastic recommendation by Escape Room Master Peih-Gee Law, our group tried 2 games, Treasure and Flynn's Arcade. In a very unassuming office building, the owners must've spent a lot of time and money to decorate all of the details in these two rooms. Also, it's nice that the games are not "linear"; So multiple people can work on different riddles/puzzles of the escape room at the same time. Personally, I liked the Treasure room better because I felt that the games in this room was more fun, especially for a beginner escape room player like myself. However, my daughter liked Flynn Arcade better because she felt that it was more immersive.... which I definitely appreciate. The beginning and the end of the Flynn Arcade was amazingly brilliant! I was less fond of the code room, which I was told contained the traditional escape room puzzles. My only suggestion for Flynn's Arcade is for the hints in the code room to be larger for those of us who are short or have difficulty seeing with our older aged eyes. My only suggestion for Treasure is for the drawings to be more crisp for those of us with older aged eyes. I know that the drawings are supposed to be ancient and brown, but it makes it even more difficult for those of us who are older to participate. Don't forget to Venmo/tip your Escape Room attendants if you had a fantastic time!

One of the best escape rooms in the South Bay Area! It is more than just a puzzle. You really have to think on these games. Price is reasonable too! You will not be disappointed !

WE ESCAPED THE GRID! Flynn's Arcade escape room is truly top-tier, and our host Dan was awesome. Great tech, clever physical puzzles, lots of teamwork needed -- and as a TRON supernerd, not to mention a Gen Xer who grew up one block from an arcade from 1978 through 1998 , it made me totally giddy with glee. Highly recommended.

I brought a group here for my girlfriend's birthday this last Sunday. She and I had never been to an Escape Room before but a few others in our group had. We did the Treasure Island Adventure Lya was our host! She was very kind, very helpful and on top of it! You guys.... It was sooo much fun!!!! We had a blast! We laughed, we were frightened sometimes, we were fully and completely immersed in the Pirate theme and we were one hundred percent entertained. I can't recommend it enough. I'm so excited to go back and try another Escape Room!

We get asked a lot for recommendations for local escape rooms that are fun, yet challenging and good for families - Treasure Island in San Pedro is our newest and best recommendation! Awesome theme (Goonies/pirates), impressive set design, fun puzzles and lots of technology with payoffs throughout. We finished with time to spare, without hints (the owner said no one finishes without hints, so we have a moral victory too!). Go check this place out!

We did Treasure Island with 3 people and had an absolute blast!! Would definitely recommend to others and we will be back!! Trevor our gamemaster was fantastic!! Thank you Brain Games Escape Rooms, what a great time had by all!!

There are two parking spots right in front of the location and both were available when we arrived. There is also plenty of parking on the street very close. They monitor the outdoor cameras and will come out and greet you when it is time for your experience. We did "The Queen" room which has a theme of saving lost souls aboard the Queen Mary ship. It is not a scary room at all, it is just dimly lit. It has a split start with one person in the room and one outside which is always an interesting way to begin. The décor is great and after having done 30+ rooms, it is always nice when a place has puzzle types that you have never encountered before which was the case here. The room is mostly non-linear and hints are given via walkie talkie. Our game master Christina was great before, during, and after our experience. She gave us a nudge several times when we asked for help and we were able to escape with five minutes left. I commented on the booking that it was our anniversary and she even gave us a choice of a few gifts afterwards, which was very kind and thoughtful. For only two people, their rooms are on the expensive side at $59 per person. It drops to $38.50 per person with three, and $35 per person with four. We had a good time and will grab a few friends and try "The Lab" room in the future.

Normally, they would group us with strangers but since we were the only ones there at the time, they allowed us (a duo) to play in a single room. I appreciated the flexibility and friendly tour through the rooms! My friend and I played The Depths, and completed it with no hints and twenty-five seconds to spare! The room was clean and high-tech for proper immersion into the puzzle's plot. The puzzles were challenging and straight-forward, and I appreciated the lack of red herrings and the ability to take your phone around. I would recommend taking pictures of important clues so you don't have to run from room-to-room to cross-reference! Using the flashlight on my phone was also helpful in the dimmer rooms of the puzzle, as well. Overall, awesome experience with the escape room and will be back again whenever we are in the area. The only thing I would suggest that they do different is pause the timer for the "story videos" that they play here and there. The clips are entertaining but they are fairly yappy and waste precious seconds of the allotted hour...

This is also where you can fill out your waiver for the escape room. Make sure you come early to allow for time to park and fill out the waivers. After waiting a few minutes, our game master came out to give us the typical rundown (don't use force, how to get hints, etc). The escape room we did was the Black Cat. The puzzles in the room were a mix of your typical lock puzzles, but there were some unique puzzles as well with cool effects (don't want to say too much to spoil). We completed this room with 15 minutes to spare as a group of 5. I would say this is a medium level type room. Puzzles were straightforward and made sense. The set design was super cool and fit the theming of the puzzle. Price: Rooms were $42 per person but there's deals often so we got 50% off per person for our room. We completed it with just the two of us and loved the theming, mix of physical and cognitive puzzles, flow of the room, cool effects, and technology! Then the pandemic hit, and no escape rooms were done by me and my peoples. Once things opened up again, I grabbed my buddies to try "CTRL + ALT + Reality". This was not our favourite room. We found the tech buggy, and it was frustrating to have correct solutions without being able to move forward. Even though we escaped, we left looking for other rooms to brighten our spirits this day. Fortunately, I was able to return for a special event to work "The Vault," and this room was great fun! We enjoyed the puzzles and the non-linear design. The room had a good flow with perfectly-working tech, and the '80s & '90s references were amazing! The owner even worked on the soundtrack for "The Vault," and it fit the theme perfectly. Nice work, Jason! My most recent experience here was for a friend's birthday in "Game of Swords." What a fun experience! We opted for a surprise customization, and the group was delighted to find it in the midst of the stress of trying to escape the room! The room had mixed tech with good theming overall. Our gamemaster said it was the easiest room in the building, but we barely made it out with 5 seconds or so! Planet Escape Room has amazing customer service, and if you come for any special occasion, ask about customization opportunities. They really do make for a unique experience! Every time we come to the Escape Game and try a new room, we are blown away by the tech they use. It's not-your-average mom & pop escape room, and for that reason we LOVE it. It operates with a first-come reservation basis, but each room has a max of 8-12 players. This means that you can bring your whole group in, and there's a chance you might have some strangers joining you as well if there's still space. We tend to wait last minute and book the rooms with no reservations yet so we can try to do them on our own. This time, our game keepers Ally and Marcy were so sweet and helpful. Games start pretty on time, so make sure to be there with waivers signed! Also, they occasionally offer 20% off your next game once you escape the first! These games lean more on the tech side utilizing digital screens, electronic doors/buttons, lights, and puzzles - all of which I love! It adds more flavor to the game, while still providing the traditional puzzles feel with some rooms having locks, ropes, and mind-tingling puzzles. I would venture to say I like having more physical handheld clues like papers or props for decoding, but this place does get the job done. Some of the puzzles even require you to work simultaneously with your escape room team which creates more thrill! I have had friends that have gone here to the same rooms I have done where the rooms are slightly changed depending on the amount of people in the room or if the tech is broken - so just be aware that your experience could be different than others. For the price of about $42 a person you can't go wrong since there are multiple options that vary in difficulty from 3/10 to 9/10. Overall would recommend especially for a quick fun nigh

This review is shorter than my average only because we had to find a restaurant outside of the mall…read moreto eat - which we did in Manhattan Beach ... Who doesn't want snow for Christmas? And who in Southern California is so ready for no more rain?! Well, we had no idea what awaited us when we made our booking online for Quest Room's Polar Station. For those new to the world of escape rooms, Quest Room is probably the gold standard by which all other rooms are measured, so much so we've done almost - ALMOST - all their rooms, as long as they accommodated two people, because we mostly play as a duo. So we were a little surprised that there was actually a location we had not visited - at South Bay Galleria in Redondo Beach - and more than thrilled that all their rooms welcome 2 players or more. The mall was closed on Christmas Day, so we were grateful to receive not just an email (went straight to the spam folder) but also a text from Quest Room letting us know this in advance, and also where to park. Quest Room was having some electrical problems, so the lobby was dimmer than usual, but we were oblivious to the difference, so excited were we to get started. We had watched (and I had read the book) The Terror on Netflix, and we were quite ready for our own Antarctic adventure. Ours was the first game of the day, and Jason introduced himself as our game host at 11am sharp. We did not need the restrooms this visit but it was offered along with a verbal run through of the game rules. In fewer words than the intriguing writeup on their web site, we "woke up" cold, sore and alive after our research plane crashed in snowy desolation in an abandoned station that we need to get working to call for help. This was like something out of "Yellowjackets" and elicited a similar "ooh!" when we saw the room. The décor was perfect, even with low light, but in theme, and the props were authentic with just the right amount of creep factor. There was no climbing or crawling required, and we wouldn't be concerned with playing the room with the whole family. Polar Station is what we consider a G3 (third generation room with quite a bit of whizzbang and FX) - with a couple of G1 locks, so even though we were advised ahead of time that some locks needed some dedicated (and delicate!) handling, it slowed us to our record-keeping time of ... 44:59 for the 45-minute room! We both agreed that our favourite task was opening the bathroom door and doing the wrapping needed - since it's Christmas! - and the rescue was epic. We felt most challenged with not remembering that we are in South Pole, not North, so crucial elements were topsy-turvy, but all the clues and puzzles were pretty logical and true to theme. Jason did a super job pacing us, and with our photos - which we received even before we got to our car - and we so appreciate his working on Christmas Day. Once again, even though Quest Room is maybe on the higher end as far as cost, they deserve every one of those five stars, both for the room and for our game host. Thank you for letting us have snow for Christmas! We can't wait to visit again in the new year! This review is triplicated on Yelp, Google and TripAdvisor.

Marc, the owner, was very nice and kind. He even allowed me to do a special request where I wore an outfit (which is a Morpshuit with t-shirt and shorts) underneath the gear used for the rage room. Very kind of him to accommodate this. I have never done a rage room before, so it was a unique experience. Shattering glass, and breaking things felt very liberating and it helped me release tension/anger. Additionally, at the very end, there was even another surprise where Marc even taught me how to throw ninja stars on the wooden board. It was super cool. At first, I couldn't get any ninja stars to stick, but on one of my final attempts, I actually did get the ninja star to stick, which was awesome!! I was pretty elated that I was able to do that! Anyways, shout out to Marc the owner for being very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a cool, friendly place to do a rage room or an escape room. I should check out their escape rooms some time soon.

Also took a while before someone came out to help (I think they were in the back assisting maybe another customer?) but some signage would help. - Waivers could be sent prior to arrival to save on time since it was a google form - staff could be more welcoming and better at explaining. I understand it may be sketchy to go to a customer's car to evaluate items brought from home since it could be a risk to the staff, but I think it could either be instructed earlier before arrival OR simply just state that you cannot leave the business. The delivery of the comment made by the staff was not very smooth (almost felt like implying we were bringing something bad or wrong). - A timer inside the room might be helpful as it's hard to keep track of time once you're destroying things. - Phone "mount" could be better secured with a clasp or something because one bump and our phone fell on the ground where there's shards and scraps everywhere. This could have easily scratched the phone. - Room felt cramped, but understand that may be limited by the size of the store space. - Half of the group was arriving late, in which I shared upfront and thought that the staff would assist in getting them as ready as possible before our first group came out to swap, but when I came out, I saw that they had not even begun to change. I understand the face shield and gloves are limited quantities, but they could have started fitting in the other items like jumpsuit and face coverings. - Also as we were swapping, I ended up giving the second group the instructions when it really should have been the staff to give them the run through. It felt very disorganized during the swapping. For the price, I think it would be nice if each group received at least one larger item and not just cups, plates, and glass. All-in-all, it was fun to let out some rage by wrecking things and not having to clean it up. My friends and I did enjoy this different experience. Also fun to watch them from the room cam inside the Axe Room as they rage.
