Escape the Hydeout
Denise P.

Mission Escape Games is tucked away on the second floor of the Anaheim Garden Walk, and it's absolutely worth a visit. Booking online was super easy - lots of available time slots and clear options for their five themed rooms (priced at $39 per person). They also seem to accommodate walk-ins but I still recommend making a reservation to secure your spot. We planned an escape room outing last minute and did a booking over the phone. They were super accommodating. My group chose The Nemesis since we have already done their other rooms and this theme is a great addition to their collection. It is a little bit on the harder side so I would not recommend doing this one first if you're new to escape rooms. My only gripe is that they used AI images for some of the visuals and it still looks strange to me but the puzzles themselves are solid! There were five of us and that was the perfect amount. This room specifically had linear and nonlinear elements, so everyone had something to do. Big shout out to Faith, who made the experience even better with an awesome attitude and the straightforward instructions. At the end, they take a group photo and email it to you. They also let you take a photo with your phone. Tip: Don't forget to bring your parking ticket - they validate it for you!

We escaped the End of Days room at Mission Escape Games! Jennifer was so nice and helpful. She explained everything clearly and saved us by providing hints throughout our experience. Her support was like a warm light guiding us through, and I felt like she was genuinely proud of us escaping. The room itself was so immersive and cool! I had a lot of fun solving the puzzles and experiencing the atmosphere. I would definitely come back to try escaping from a different room!

Mission Escape games is located on the second floor of the Anaheim garden walk. I do recommend reservations but I do think they can accommodate walk ins. Booking is easy which is done online with ample of time slot choices and 4 escape room options that are $39 per person. We did the bank heist and it was a good time for sure! We did this room with only three of us and the employee said it's a bit better with more people as you have to travel throughout the rooms but we managed and made it out with 1 minute to spare! Shout out to Kayla for the hints and being very informative and fun. They also take a group photo at the end and email it to you which is appreciated! I will definitely be back to try the horror theme room! **tip bring your parking ticket so they can validate it for you!

Wowwwww!!! What an amazing 1st experience! This was by far the best memory I am going to cherish with my family! First off, we passed this on the way to Billy Beez. Once I confirmed bank heist was not much for my kids we booked. It was my kids first time! PK was the best host & made sure we were comfortable & ready! My kids couldn't stop talking about how much they liked him! This was the best 1st experience & we will definitely be back!

Arrived at 10:30pm on the phone they said they would take us in . We got there at the time and this guy said all booked no more today. Before that , the two employees look at each other debating if they should take us in , this guy then lied and said sorry we can't take you in. After we drove 30 minutes ...

It was super fun! We completed a game with like 2 minutes to spare! We were 3 people Playing a game Meant for 5-8 people and we still figured it out! The staff was lovely! We had the best time!!

WE ESCAPED!!

LOVED our time @ mission escape games. we had a huge group and we were a little late but they were so understanding! tiffany, our game master, was absolutely awesome. she was so fun to talk to and made the whole adventure / experience sm more exciting. i love how she recapped and helped us take pics - legit the best!! give that girl a raise she deserves it esp for being willing to stay a bit overtime (but we completed our game 13 min before it was over so she didnt have to YAY!) luv u tiffany!! as for the game, it was so fun! we had to switch from heist to another one w/ a mad scientiest or smth but it was still fun. i got carried by my friends but like i love how they didnt make clues too obvious and stephanie wouldnt point out what we need exactly but just gave us little nudges if we're running behind time - so awesome sauce. THANK YOU!

Marlys J.

I came here with family for a fun activity while visiting. We had such a fun time completing mission hydeout. Our game master did a great job explaining the rules and hints of the game. The hints that were given were great in timing and didnt give away too much information. For half of our group this was a first time escape room, and this was a great room for beginners. Everyone in the group had a fun time and this left us wanting to do more escape rooms. The room was well decorated and hints dispersed throughout the room so everyone had a chance to figure out a puzzle. Park on the 4th floor of the parking garage for closest access to the escape room location. They will validate parking that lasts 35 minutes after leaving.

Coworkers and I came here Thursday night as a bonding activity / going away experience. Bonus points certainly given for offering midweek discounts, resulting in a 35$/person fee. Given our 12 person party, we split up into two groups to conquer each the Darkest hour & End of Days. Molly, our game master, was very kind and certainly played the role of game master well for our group. The clues were a bit challenging in our End of Days but the hints provided to us by Molly were perfect, affording us more direction without completely spoiling the lock / challenge. Having done the Hyde and Jekyll room before at this location, I can confidently say I'd recommend this escape room!

Any escape rooms appropriate for 13-14 year old teens?

Are there live scare actors inside the darkest hour room?

There are live actors in some of the scarier rooms. Not all of them though.

If you a minor can you be with someone 18+ or a parent?

Hi Lana, Thanks for your inquiry! If you are under the age of 18 you can be with an adult/parent as long as they are 18+. Hope this helps!

Does it have a party room where we can bring food?

They usually don't bring food in or drinks because the rooms are already said and I don't want anything damage

My question disappeared so I'll ask it again. I have arthritis and can't get down on my hands & knees. I would like to do the Escape The Darkest Hour room but don't know if u have to crawl on the floor--I can't. Can I still do this room?

There is a crawl portion, but not everyone has to do it. Once someone completes this part, everyone can get through without crawling.

Are your rooms wheelchair accessible?

Yes they are! Some games do have parts of the experience that do have small restrictions however we have alternatives during gameplay to allow for wheelchair accessibility :).

Are walk ins welcome?

I would say yes and no. You would still have to book online but if you were to walk in and no games are being played for the next slot, you can definitely do it. Usually escape room slots are every hour.

Do they put you with other people?

From my experience, if you want to be on your own, make a reservation ahead of time and let them know.

Is the 3rd room getting close to be released?

As of May2019, there are 3 rooms: bank heist, Hydeout, and Darkest Hour.

Can kids under 16 do the hydeout without a parent in the room?

Hi Jamie, thanks for your inquiry! Kids under 16 can definitely do Hydeout with a parent in the room 😁. Hope this helps but please feel to let us know if you have any other questions, and we look forward to seeing you all soon!

Can any of the games be completed as a couple? Or two people?

It can but I find that it's easier with 4 people for "the darkest hour" room. Two people can be very challenging. Since the room is dark it's easy with multiple people (I.e. one holding a flash light, while another is reading a puzzle while another… Read more

Every time we come to the Escape Game and try a new room, we are blown away by the tech they use. It's not-your-average mom & pop escape room, and for that reason we LOVE it. This means that you can bring your whole group in, and there's a chance you might have some strangers joining you as well if there's still space. Most rooms here fit up to 8 people which would be perfect if you had a large friend group. BUT if you only had 2-4 people and sign up ahead of time, be prepared to enter the room with new faces. Games start pretty on time, so make sure to be there with waivers signed! Also, they occasionally offer 20% off your next game once you escape the first! These games lean more on the tech side utilizing digital screens, electronic doors/buttons, lights, and puzzles - all of which I love! It adds more flavor to the game, while still providing the traditional puzzles feel with some rooms having locks, ropes, and mind-tingling puzzles. I would venture to say I like having more physical handheld clues like papers or props for decoding, but this place does get the job done. Some of the puzzles even require you to work simultaneously with your escape room team which creates more thrill! I have had friends that have gone here to the same rooms I have done where the rooms are slightly changed depending on the amount of people in the room or if the tech is broken - so just be aware that your experience could be different than others. For the price of about $42 a person you can't go wrong since there are multiple options that vary in difficulty from 3/10 to 9/10. Overall would recommend especially for a quick fun nigh

This is a nice place for either a rage room or an escape room…read more A few weeks ago, I did a rage room experience here, which was my first time doing a rage room. Marc, the owner, was very nice and kind. He even allowed me to do a special request where I wore an outfit (which is a Morpshuit with t-shirt and shorts) underneath the gear used for the rage room. Very kind of him to accommodate this. I have never done a rage room before, so it was a unique experience. Shattering glass, and breaking things felt very liberating and it helped me release tension/anger. Additionally, at the very end, there was even another surprise where Marc even taught me how to throw ninja stars on the wooden board. It was super cool. At first, I couldn't get any ninja stars to stick, but on one of my final attempts, I actually did get the ninja star to stick, which was awesome!! I was pretty elated that I was able to do that! Anyways, shout out to Marc the owner for being very nice and accommodating. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a cool, friendly place to do a rage room or an escape room. I should check out their escape rooms some time soon.

Overall a positive experience with a couple of cons:…read more - When we arrived, there wasn't any clear instructions of where/what we should do as there is no front desk. Also took a while before someone came out to help (I think they were in the back assisting maybe another customer?) but some signage would help. - Waivers could be sent prior to arrival to save on time since it was a google form - staff could be more welcoming and better at explaining. I understand it may be sketchy to go to a customer's car to evaluate items brought from home since it could be a risk to the staff, but I think it could either be instructed earlier before arrival OR simply just state that you cannot leave the business. The delivery of the comment made by the staff was not very smooth (almost felt like implying we were bringing something bad or wrong). - A timer inside the room might be helpful as it's hard to keep track of time once you're destroying things. - Phone "mount" could be better secured with a clasp or something because one bump and our phone fell on the ground where there's shards and scraps everywhere. This could have easily scratched the phone. - Room felt cramped, but understand that may be limited by the size of the store space. - Half of the group was arriving late, in which I shared upfront and thought that the staff would assist in getting them as ready as possible before our first group came out to swap, but when I came out, I saw that they had not even begun to change. I understand the face shield and gloves are limited quantities, but they could have started fitting in the other items like jumpsuit and face coverings. - Also as we were swapping, I ended up giving the second group the instructions when it really should have been the staff to give them the run through. It felt very disorganized during the swapping. For the price, I think it would be nice if each group received at least one larger item and not just cups, plates, and glass. All-in-all, it was fun to let out some rage by wrecking things and not having to clean it up. My friends and I did enjoy this different experience. Also fun to watch them from the room cam inside the Axe Room as they rage.

Almost all of Escapade Games' rooms have a horror element and are obviously targeted towards the colleges nearby, but not only was Rockin' adapted to accommodate parties of two; for this season, it was themed to fit the holidays. We also got a very pleasant surprise when it came time to pay for our online reservation: it was half the price of a standard room for a party of 8! This was a (happy) shock because we are used to paying for 3 or 4, even though we are a duo. The 2025 Pineapple Express had slowed to a steady trickle by the time we arrived at Escapade Games Christmas Eve after a music-less British pub lunch less than a two-minute drive away. The cavernous restrooms, located outside the lobby, were clean, and the lobby looked like it was in the midst of some renovation, but another game was going on, and since we already filled out our waivers, we settled down to wait for our game to start. And waited. And waited. And waited. When we finally started our hour-long game, after the technical difficulties were resolved and the game rules reminders given, all was forgiven very fast: as a bonus to playing a game that was getting ready to be put out of commission, we could take unlimited photos in the room! And there was so much to do in the music-themed room: even though not all the instruments were playable, and there were still minor glitches as we were playing, Joey was a terrific game host - he, too, made a quick recovery from the technical issues and was as determined as we were to have a phenomenal game. There was no timer in the room, but going by our photos, we were done in 52:48, with a lot of help. Our favourite puzzles had to do with the picks and bands, and playing the instruments to rise back up to the top of the pops as rockstars is such an original theme. The music played put us in the holiday mood - especially "The 12 Days of Christmas". That's probably not our favourite Christmas song, but it helped that I just got done with Susan Stokes-Chapman's holiday short story collection! Rockin' around the Christmas Tree is set to what we consider 3-G (Generation 3, with a lot of computer FX elements) tasks with G-1 locks, and, despite the late start, was very much the best Christmas present to set us off on our holidays! Joey, our heroic gamemaster, was a huge part of the fun game we had. We could tell he had started off not having such a good Christmas because the room's serious technical issues were clearly unexpected, but he fixed everything so that we could have a great time. We eventually realized the fantastic price we paid was not just because our game, unlike other Escapade rooms, did not feature a live actor in the room. Even more importantly, we only found out, after our game, that the room was being taken down to make way for a three-room movie-based horror adventure. We are so, so glad that we got to experience Rockin' around the Christmas Tree before it was dismantled, and keep our fingers crossed it gets a spectacular comeback in the near future (like the rockstars we were supposed to be!) That said, we are looking forward to checking out anything else Escapade Games has to offer - can't wait for more games in 2026! This review is duplicated on Yelp and Google.

Coming back for the updated version, I honestly didn't expect it to top the first one -- but it absolutely did.
