The new ownership has taken everything that worked and elevated it, and the holiday Kruppes theme added such a unique twist without losing the spirit of the original. The set design, immersion, and overall tension are on a whole new level. Shoutout to Emily and Bree for making our experience incredible -- their energy and commitment made a huge difference. We booked an escape room with Escapade Games on July 2, 2025, spending $504 for six people plus a video of the experience. The website used to book (escaperoomera.com) clearly stated refunds were available if canceled more than 24 hours in advance. Our group canceled within that timeframe. I emailed the address listed on the invoice, zoe@escaperoomera.com, and asked for a refund, which they refused. They claimed the website was "old" and not connected to them, even though their own invoice directly referenced it. Both escaperoomera.com and escapadegames.us used the same Resova booking link. Their Yelp page listed escaperoomera.com, and their Instagram contact button still links to that same email. We provided proof, but they still denied the refund. Their "no refund" policy only appeared after the booking was complete. This matters because California Civil Code 1723 requires businesses to disclose refund restrictions in a conspicuous place before purchase. We initiated a chargeback and won. We thought that was the end of it, but Escapade Games then charged our card again without authorization twice, on July 26 and August 5, 2025. We had to dispute each charge with our bank, and eventually had to replace our cards entirely just to stop them. Since then, the company has updated its links and checkout flow to remove references to escaperoomera.com and prominently display its "no refund" policy. While that may help future customers, the fact that these changes were only made afterward acknowledges that their earlier practices were misleading. A great escape room. We went during the Halloween season and did the Zoe: Reborn. There were 2 versions they offered. One with less scary or more scary. We chose the more scary. I forgot what they called it. FYI: you will get tased with a taser, grabbed, and touched. Nothing they do is harmful that causes injury, but you have to sign a consent form. They give your rules and guidelines before the game so it makes you feel aware and they said nothing they do will actually harm. It was super fun. It is scary cuz there are people tazing and chasing you. Overall, highly recommend. read more

Escapade Downtown Fullerton understood the assignment. The rooms are insanely well decorated -- dark, eerie, and deliciously unsettling in the best way. You can tell a lot of effort went into creating a fully immersive experience that makes you forget you're just steps away from downtown. The staff was super friendly but also knew exactly when to flip the switch and lean into the chaos. We had Joey as our host, and honestly... flawless execution. He worked hard to make us feel like we were truly trapped in a scary scenario, sprinkling just the right amount of tension, dread, and "oh no what did we get ourselves into?" energy. It was spooky, fun, and slightly unhinged -- which we loved. We're already planning our return for the Zoe room, and I cannot wait to willingly walk back into fear. Last week I went to a game. Our game host was maz and when we got there we already had problems puzzles broken, and late start. During the game I was expecting to use the gimmick of the entire escape room of wearing the mask when Gepetto comes in. The issue? HE HARDLY SHOWED UP. When he did show up the actor broke character and told us straight up he was leaving the room. After the second scare of three we stole the item that was needed and the rest went what some might say smoothly but I wasn't immersed for shit. I have gone previously for Zoey and things went well and our game master Emi the entire experience was fully immersed and I was genuinely scared for my life. Overall the game I played last was bad and made me realize I spent 50 bucks on burning time and sitting in a hot ass room. read more

Unfortunately we had a pretty bad experience here, and the owner has proven to be dishonest. Our room wasn't ready upon arrival which was no problem as we are a patient group and didn't mind waiting. However, we waited over an hour for them to clean out the room (prior to our game, the room had been closed and used for storage) and fix a broken puzzle. When we finally started, there was still some trash in the room, cat litter on the floor, and one of the puzzles was still broken. They did apologize over and over, and we truly were patient and understanding of the circumstances. The owner talked to us directly and apologized and said they would be issuing us a 50% refund for all of the inconvenience which we felt was warranted and appreciated. However, the refund never came and the email inquiries have gone unanswered. We really liked this place in the past and have done all of the rooms there, but we will no longer be recommending it. read more

This is an update to our review of Escapade Games, and we really lucked out in our choice of Rockin' around the Christmas Tree. Almost all of Escapade Games' rooms have a horror element and are obviously targeted towards the colleges nearby, but not only was Rockin' adapted to accommodate parties of two; for this season, it was themed to fit the holidays. We also got a very pleasant surprise when it came time to pay for our online reservation: it was half the price of a standard room for a party of 8! This was a (happy) shock because we are used to paying for 3 or 4, even though we are a duo. The 2025 Pineapple Express had slowed to a steady trickle by the time we arrived at Escapade Games Christmas Eve after a music-less British pub lunch less than a two-minute drive away. The cavernous restrooms, located outside the lobby, were clean, and the lobby looked like it was in the midst of some renovation, but another game was going on, and since we already filled out our waivers, we settled down to wait for our game to start. And waited. And waited. And waited. When we finally started our hour-long game, after the technical difficulties were resolved and the game rules reminders given, all was forgiven very fast: as a bonus to playing a game that was getting ready to be put out of commission, we could take unlimited photos in the room! And there was so much to do in the music-themed room: even though not all the instruments were playable, and there were still minor glitches as we were playing, Joey was a terrific game host - he, too, made a quick recovery from the technical issues and was as determined as we were to have a phenomenal game. There was no timer in the room, but going by our photos, we were done in 52:48, with a lot of help. Our favourite puzzles had to do with the picks and bands, and playing the instruments to rise back up to the top of the pops as rockstars is such an original theme. The music played put us in the holiday mood - especially "The 12 Days of Christmas". That's probably not our favourite Christmas song, but it helped that I just got done with Susan Stokes-Chapman's holiday short story collection! Rockin' around the Christmas Tree is set to what we consider 3-G (Generation 3, with a lot of computer FX elements) tasks with G-1 locks, and, despite the late start, was very much the best Christmas present to set us off on our holidays! Joey, our heroic gamemaster, was a huge part of the fun game we had. We could tell he had started off not having such a good Christmas because the room's serious technical issues were clearly unexpected, but he fixed everything so that we could have a great time. We eventually realized the fantastic price we paid was not just because our game, unlike other Escapade rooms, did not feature a live actor in the room. Even more importantly, we only found out, after our game, that the room was being taken down to make way for a three-room movie-based horror adventure. We are so, so glad that we got to experience Rockin' around the Christmas Tree before it was dismantled, and keep our fingers crossed it gets a spectacular comeback in the near future (like the rockstars we were supposed to be!) This review is for Pinocchio- I haven't don't Zoe but I hear it's great. As far as horror escape rooms go, Pinocchio is just ok. The props are pretty lackluster and the puzzles weren't very imaginative. In terms of the way they used the live actor it reminded me a lot of other escape rooms we've done, so I felt like I'd seen it before. However, it was still a fun experience and I'm sure Zoe is really their bread and butter!! read more

We were blown away by the Pinocchio room; Ross somehow managed to juggle being the GM, Jiminy, and Gepetto at the same time, and aced every role! I have done dozens of rooms and this was easily one of the most interactive and unique. We had such a fun time that we decided to book a second room, Screamboat, the next day. Though there were a few glitches with certain gags or puzzles, our GM Giselle kept things flowing well and we had a lot of fun. Update: Its now 4/6/25 and I have not gotten my refund. I really wanted to give 5 stars because the escape room itself was a blast and the actors were fantastic. However, there was one issue that left my group and me feeling pretty disappointed. At the end of our game, our game master Joey asked if we wanted a video of our experience. We all said yes because it was such a fun memory, and we were genuinely excited to rewatch it. They took my credit card information and said the video would be emailed within 5-7 days. Today marks the 7th day, and since I hadn't received anything, I called to follow up, only to find out the video had been deleted just hours before. Our escape room was last Friday at 10 PM, and the video was deleted this Friday at 6 PM. That timing was incredibly frustrating. I was offered a refund, which I appreciate and accepted, but honestly, it wasn't about the money it was about the memory. This whole thing was just a major letdown. If you're planning to get the video, I recommend calling on the 5th day or earlier to make sure they send it. Just a heads-up to avoid the same disappointment we experienced. read more

The escape room itself was genuinely cool. It was scary, intense, and pretty much exactly what I expected from a horror escape room. The upselling really took away from the experience. For about 20 minutes before the game started, the game master, Maz, was relentless about pushing premium add-ons. It felt nonstop and uncomfortable. Eventually, we gave in just so we could start the game. When he went into the back room afterward, I could hear laughing with coworkers, and one employee even referred to the purchase as "stupid," which was frustrating and unprofessional. After the game, the upselling continued. We had already paid $60 for an 8-minute edited highlight video, but Maz then tried to sell us the "full premium video" for an additional $80. He claimed that the best moments wouldn't be included in the highlight video unless we upgraded, which felt more like pressure than an honest option. Here's the kicker: when we finally received our "highlight video," it was 8 minutes of the worst footage from our game. None of the good or exciting moments were included at all. Overall, the escape room itself was fun, but the constant pressure to spend more money and the disappointing video package left a horrible taste and seriously took away from what could have been a great experience. Music, actors, and set production really get you into an adrenaline fueled state of mind (and this is after only sleeping like 30 minutes with the last 30 some hours). Getting tazed did get annoying after a while though Disappointed that most of the puzzles to figure just involved key or combination locks though. Zoe only shows up on the weekends apparently. OMG! Freaking amazing! My family and I just finished Pinocchio and we were blown away! It was such an immersive game with creative clues. We were kept on the edge of our seat the entire time. It's a challenging escape room because you're scared the entire time... but soooo worth it. There is a live actor, ours was Ross, and he was the icing on the cake! He made the room come alive and was terrifying in the best way possible. We met the owner, Joran, and you can tell he absolutely loves what he does. 10/10 recommend. We visited escapade games on Halloween night! None of us were ready for their ZOE room so we opted to try their brand new room called Pinocchio. For those of you looking for a middle ground between a regular/scare actor-less room and a full horror escape room, Pinocchio is the room for you. Let's delve into some of the aspects of this room (without spoilers of course) Scare factor: 3/5 if you're not someone who is super easily spooked. We had a member in our team who would definitely say the scare factor is a 10/10 but for someone who enjoys things like HHN and other spooky attractions, this room was just perfect in scares. The scares were not over the top and were just right for the story the room is trying to convey! Also huge thanks to our scare actor GAIGE who plays Geppetto, he did a fantastic job!! Side note* you may ask for full contact in this room if you and your group would like it. We did not want that for us so we chose not to but the only thing the scare actor had to do was guide us by our shoulders into rooms. Puzzles: for an average group of people with little experience with escape rooms we did make it out in time. The puzzles were unique and well thought out. One in particular stood out to me and I really thought it was interesting and one of a kind. Overall I would give the puzzles a 3/5 Story: I really like how they executed certain aspects of the story. It's very hard to talk about this without giving away any spoilers but let's just say the ending is super fun and thrilling. Again our scare actor really brought the story to life so kudos to him Overall I would highly recommend this room to those who don't want to FULLY do a horror escape room but just want to dip their toes into the realm. The puzzles are creative and thoughtful enough without requiring too much effort because we were very scared almost the whole time. The area is huge with multiple very different rooms with many cool set aspects that led to the incredible immersion of feeling like we were actually in the spooky situation, or at the very least, in a scary movie. The actor Logan, gamemaster V, and owner really made the experience as incredible as it was, kudos to them!! Highly recommend!! Original Review: We have played a lot of rooms and heard so much about Zoe being the scariest escape room out there. We finally mustered up the courage to play and we are so glad we did!! The location and lobby experience are very scary, the gamemasters do a great job of setting the scene and scaring the crap out of you before you even begin. They give one last warning before you begin and ask if you want to quit out and I can see why people do quit at that point. You enter the room blindfolded and in pitch darkness. There are definitely actors and there are so many scary moments that our most common hint was "Be Brave" which was very hard to do at times. FIVE STARS FOR NIKO AND ROSS!!!! GIVE THEM A RAISE!!!! Ross: Uncle Robert Niko: Game Master/ Other Scare Actor We decided to do an escape room to add on to our activities for our annual HHN Trip. We had just done HHN the night before and wanted to continue the fun! This is our first time doing the Zoe: Reborn Escape room. I have done the original Zoe twice, so I was stoked to get an email about a new Zoe story. Zoe has been the best escape room we've ever done and the only room to top it is Zoe: Reborn! (We've done over 20 horror escape rooms at least) Please ignore the 1 star reviews. It seems like it was all from the same group and they had a bad time because they asked for "no contact" at an escape room that advertises itself as a full contact escape room. Make it make sense..... and the other bad reviews were for "getting hurt" but honestly the scrapes and bruises are trophies for surviving this escape room. Clearly, this room is not for weenies. If you're going to do this room, do extreme mode. GET THE FULL EXPERIENCE, it's worth the money! Niko explained it as "the closest you'll get to being in a scary movie" and "a messed up game of hide and seek." Puzzles weren't hard but that's because the focus is more on the scare factor. I like the fact that there's no visible timer and that the clues are unlimited. I also loved that they picked on almost everyone in the group, everyone got a chance to do some of the solo challenges if they were brave enough. The tasers were scary but didn't hurt because my adrenaline was too high! I'm assuming we were running low on time when Niko started just giving us answers instead of clues lol but that's okay because it helped us get through all the rooms. I get super bummed out when we don't finish a game and miss out on rooms at other escape rooms. I wish I could erase my memory so I can redo this escape room again and again! The only suggestion I'd make would be to have more scare actors or an option to choose how many we want/expect. Don't get me wrong, Ross was an awesome Uncle Robert, but we didn't have Zoe. In some videos I saw there were even up to 4 scare actors at once and Zoe reminded me of the Grudge so I really wanted her to be in the room. ALSO, this is the first escape room to offer the entire video of our game. We can't wait for it to arrive so we can host a watch party with the group. It was $120 but we split it by 7 so it wasn't too bad. The first time we went they only offered stickers, and you can see from my review 5 years ago that I wanted a T-shirt. They finally made a shirt and we each purchased one. I will not mind being a walking ad for this company. Anyway, we will be back for Pinocchio next year! Don't come here! We had a great experience last year doing Krampus and came back to do ScreamBoat. When we came for our time slot - we waited almost an hour with staff telling us there was technical issues. We had to leave since we had dinner reservations and the manager onsite apologized and said we could reschedule (and even give us free footage for the inconvenience). We were fine with rescheduling and understand that things happen. When we attempted to email and call/leave voicemails, no one responded with a resolution (refund or help with reschedule). I got a response from the staff after several of my email follow ups and they indicated they escalated to management - but still no response or resolution from management. It's disappointing especially for returning customers that had a great experience the first time. Don't waste your time or money here when businesses treat you this way - there are SEVERAL great escape rooms in Orange County that are just as great and more professional. read more

And the actors were top-notch! They put their heart into the roles, making for a boo-tiful, memorable experience. + Realistic costumes and acting. Strategic use of dark rooms to keep us on our toes. Clever puzzles to keep us guessing. After doing Purgatory mode, we realize anything less wouldn't have been worth our money. + My best escape room experience ever, and I've done with various organizations in Irvine and LA. What I loved extra about this setup over any other is the addition of horror and live actors to make the plot more enticing and the game more interactive. ++ One of my best choices during the game was checking back on the tunnel we had just crawled out of... ;) + The tasing was barely a tickle for me. There, now you know how badly the taser hurts. I wasn't wearing anything special for protection. - Unfortunately they were running late so we had to start about 20min late. 100/10!!! Our party for Scream Boat was 3 stupid girls who failed previous escape rooms so we had low expectations for ourselves to solve it. But the homie Ross was extremely helpful with giving us hints since we kept wasting time cuz our lack of braincells. And props to him for scaring us just by simply walking through the door.
