I have mixed reviews about this restaurant. I've been a few times and the quality of service and food varied each time. The hollandaise sauce is delicious consistently. The crab cake Benedict was delicious the first time with a yolky egg, but the potatoes were tasteless. The second time the egg was very over cooked but the potatoes were yummy. The mimosas are ok but for the price ($10/pint), I wish they'd spruce them up a little bit. My daughter had a Caesar salad and they added chicken to it even though we asked not to add. Ok fine- protein is good. But it was so overcooked I could barely recognize it as chicken. The salad was ok but had a lot of wilted greens in it. There's a gal that seems to do a little of everything in the restaurant and she's great. Other service has been mixed. The interior is nice and they had a large Christmas tree and other decorations over the holiday that were beautiful. I will go back and try again- it's not off the table for me. I just don't like sending food back and feel for the prices I will need to. read more

Dinner at the Greene Lily is wonderful! There were a lot of options and the bolognese did not disappoint. The fresh bread was also a nice touch and fried raviolis were the perfect appetizer! Despite it's reputation for killer breakfasts, I've only been to the Greene Lily for dinner, but trying their breakfast is definitely on my to-do list. I found it "accidently" - I had plans for dinner somewhere else, but there was a line out the door, and I remembered the Oberon fondly and knew a new place had opened in its old location, so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did. Service was very good, albeit the crowd was small and easy to handle. Good drinks, and good food. Their pasta Bolognese was maybe the best I've had, noticeably better than Mazzottis. The second time I went I tried the Chicken Marsala, which was good but not great. The biggest negative is their wine list, which is very limited. I have been a patron of this restaurant for many years but haven't gone much lately because not the same as when they first opened. Don't know if the chef has changed or what?? The restaurant is adorable as always and the service is always good but the food not so much. I got the French dip sandwich today, the meat was overcooked bordering on jerky and the aujus was weird tasting and spicy, just not a good experience. The butternut squash soup was ok but not great. Hopefully it can turn around, live always enjoyed visiting their restaurant but it will be a while before I venture there again. read more

Backwoods Benny for the win!! The other Benedict's are good, too, but the Backwoods just takes the gravy. The house potatoes are possibly the best you'll have and are super savory. Fun space and friendly service. Parking can be tricky but it's worth parking around the block. read more

I ended up here on a morning walk around Eureka after searching to see if eggs Benedict was available nearby since I had been craving it badly. They have many types of eggs Benedict available so of course I had to take a chance. I'm sure they get busier later on, but I came in at 9:30 am on a Saturday and only a few tables were occupied so I was able to be seated immediately. Service was very quick and attentive, food came out quickly. I had the crab cake Benedict and it was delicious, though I do wish it came on an English muffin and not just the crab cake. The crab was very good. The egg was poached perfectly and the accompanying potatoes had a good flavor. I was thrilled to see they offered half portions as well since I wasn't sure I'd finish a whole plate and didn't want to drag leftovers around on the rest of my walk as I explored town. The iced tea was especially good, it seemed to be Earl Grey rather than plain black tea. I order iced tea everywhere I go and this has been one of the best I've had! Came here recently on a breakfast date with my boyfriend and had a half order of the eggs Benedict. So delicious!! And the coffee! Oh my lord, the coffee. I've never had a cup that smooth. Our waitress was a delight and never let our coffee run out. Service was excellent! The place is so cute too!! They also had several mimosas to kick off your morning. It was pretty empty on a weekday morning (read, no wait!) and our server was friendly and attentive, once she warmed up. Admittedly, upon entry, she was not the most welcoming and effervescent hostess, and I was a little worried she was having a bad day, but I think she might just be introverted and task oriented. She was never rude, just aloof and reserved, but over the progression of our meal, she engaged in a little friendly small talk. I didn't mind this much, though, because, frankly, I'm a bit antisocial myself. Amazing breakfast. Eggs perfectly over medium, bacon crispy but not hard. House potatoes are delicious hand cut yukon golds soft in the middle but perfectly crispy on the outside and well seasoned. Hubby got the California eggs benedict and said it was 10/10 and that the holindaise sauce was very well balanced and not sour from too much lemon. He also got a half order of biscuits and gravy because thats his drug of choice, and said it was divine. The homemade bisquits were light and fluffy but held up to the bacon gravy that was very creamy, not lumpy, and you could taste the bacon.. The only thing that could have been improved, and this is only a personal preference and not a quality issue, is that by the time I got to the great french toast I had on the side, it was just warm. Hot syrup or bringing it out secondary would have made it perfect. Next time Ill ask, because the wait staff was very accommodating. read more

This place is dynamite! The food is real. Not microwaved reheat. I had a half order of huevos rancheros and biscuit. Strange but true. Really fantastic. The biscuit was so light and fluffy. The rancheros were the best. The atmosphere is very cozy and perfect on a rainy day. My boyfriend and I woke up hungover and in a bad mood. We learned on this trip that vegan options aren't always super easy to find around the area, but I knew from my research before that this place did have vegan French toast, at least. The atmosphere is simple, clean, and historic. We were seated at the bar, and quickly ordered. Vegan breakfast for my boyfriend, and eggs benedict florentine for me. The bartender must have noticed we looked grumpy and did his best to cheer us up and let us know about some things we could do around the area. Saddest French toast of all time!! I went here for Sunday brunch and was very excited to see a robust Benedict and sweets menu! I ordered the vegan French toast with gluten free bread. The dish came out in a sad pile with no garnish, not even fruit or powdered sugar. Literally just six sad slices of bread dumped in a pile. The flavor was ok but nothing special. I was visiting my cousin, and we had breakfast here. It was good. I had Eggs Benedict, and the hollandaise had the right texture and was unbroken. The eggs were poached for just the right amount of time- no snotty whites but the yolk was still runny. The potatoes were good, too. It is a clean, pleasant atmosphere- we went mid-morning so it wasn't busy. The efficient server seemed like she could handle a crowd, though. Excellent spot for breakfast! My huevos rancheros were delicious. My husband had the pork fried steak with gravy and I had to ask for a second bite. We only got our food after we asked our waitress to check on it, and we suspect the order wasn't placed until then. All might have been forgiven if the food was great, but it wasn't. A nice spot in Old Town Eureka...with some nice menu choices and an appealing deal on mimosa carafes. My server was the owner and she was polite, accommodating, attentive and clearly runs a "tight ship." Restaurant was clean and guests all seemed pretty happy. The poached pears were nice, along with the bacon waffle entree with poached eggs. Thankfully, Real maple syrup was served on request. A nice spot to start your day in Eureka and an "on-site" owner working side-by-side with staff, to satisfy all of the guests. Note: I would have rated my dining experience 4* ... but sadly, the bacon waffle contained garlic powder (which I'm allergic to and advised server prior). Horrid from start to finish. We're traveling through on HWY 101, got hungry and searched for a place for some breakfast. We found this place with its 4 stars and 200+ reviews, so we headed on in. First of all, we noticed immediately that it was freezing cold inside and mind you, my husband, 5 year old daughter and I were each wearing warm layers, so it's not like we were underdressed. There were only two other tables of people there, both of which were wearing their coats as they ate as well (a couple of them even had their parka hoods on while eating). We sat ourselves in a booth, as the sign suggested and were soon brought a couple of menu's, that were plopped on the table with no words, by the most unfriendly woman. We attempted cheerful greetings and received stone faced silence in return. The entire interaction with this woman was rude, from beginning to end. We ordered a coffee, a hot cocoa, a couple of omelettes and a bacon waffle to share. The coffee was BITTER; really bitter. The omelettes arrived with unmelted cheese, swimming in a runny bed of condensation. The accompanying potatoes were cold and somehow an odd mix of both burnt and raw at the same time. The waffle was pale and cold and we literally shivered our way through the entire meal. I used the restroom and the toilet was filthy with deep yellow urine running down the front of the bowl. Just nasty. I do not understand how anyone gave this place a good review. If you want to be served an overpriced, terribly executed breakfast, served by an extremely rude, Pet Rock of a human being...this is surely your spot. Otherwise, find a McDonalds up the road. read more
