I have visited the Fitz many times for apres ski, but this was my first time for dinner. Located between the base of Golden Peak and the Betty Ford Gardens, this is a convenient place to the Village and the amphitheater (about a 5 minute walk across the creek and through the beautiful gardens). There is some parking at Manor Vail, but you can also park in the Vail garage, which is about a 10 minute walk. The Fitz is a unique location - it is in the Manor Vail hotel, so it serves as the hotel bar as well as the restaurant. It is very open, with large picture windows and a big outdoor deck. Great views all around. It is a bit noisy - acoustics aren't ideal - but this is a comfortable place that is good for adults and kids. The bar is great, and they seem to have added some more tables and have added more options to the menu (in the past there were some appetizer and pizza options). Vail needs some solid mid-priced options that are laid back, and The Fitz fits the bill. Entrees are generally under $25 - the Colorado Striped Bass and the Fitz Burger are both really good. The "Incredible Burger" was a vegetarian option that was quite good (worth trying if you are on the fence on beef substitutes - this one is one of the better I've tasted). I'm glad to see The Fitz with a solid dinner menu, while still being a destination for apres ski in winter. It is a hidden gem in Golden Peak and one of the better values in the Valley. read more

Went in tonight with my wife and son after seeing the reviews and was extremely dissatisfied. Asked for a booster chair no one brought one over. Then I got up and asked the host for a booster chair a second time she brought over a highchair and said that's all they had. Then we ordered two cocktails from the bar it took about 15 minutes to get them once the server delivered them we gave him the entire order, ordering an appetizer course, salad course and Entrees. We asked that the food be coursed out. The appetizer and salads came out at the same time. Then the entrées followed about five minutes after the appetizers and salad course. When I told the server about the coursing experience he told me that he was going to tell the kitchen that they did it wrong. It was super bizarre that no manager stopped by. We ate cold entrees since we were barely through our salad and app and no wanted to do anything about it. I paid in cash and waited for my change for about 15 minutes. Everything we ate tonight was delicious - crab cakes and the fried chicken sandwich from the bar menu in particular. I want to go back to try the burrata panzanella and the sweet corn soup. I had the best time tonight at The Fitz. I usually come here during the Tuesday Night concerts for tacos, but tonight my friend and I decided we wanted somewhere new to have dinner and dessert. The food was great, our super nice server I can't remember his name, but had a curl pony tail was so friendly and awesome. I had not been in since they remodeled a year ago and it looks great. It's comfortable booth were so comfy we sat there for four hours. The Apre or Happy Hour menu had lots options (soup, Mac & cheese, flatbread and desserts) and was inexpensive for Vail prices. We had two flatbreads one was roasted tomatoes and basil which was vegetarian and delicious. The second was winter squash and prosciutto which my friend really enjoyed plus they are big enough to share. We had the pumpkin cream brûlée out of this world. Get it! It's a place where you can actually hear each other and have a conversion. It's nice because it's located at Manor Vail Hotel it is not very crowded. This place was great! Nice outdoor patio. Staff was very friendly. I got the Manhattan of the day for my drink which was called Central Park and was excellent. My daughter is vegetarian and we shared the grilled Asian vegetables which were delicious. Sauce was very tasty and a little spicy, loved it! Also got the poke bowl with tofu and edemame which was also very tasty. My son got the Tuna poke which he loved and was the largest poke bowl he has ever gotten and had a lot of tuna. Alexis was attentive and quick to get our order going and get some drinks in front of us. We made reservations on a busy weekend. We had our two year old kid with us. Everyone was very welcoming of him, from the host to the waitress. Our waitress Peyton was fantastic, quick and attentive. We had the cheese curds for appetizer, my son had a great chicken sandwich and fries, and my wife and I split a steak and salmon, everything was perfect, the food was excellent. This restaurant was fantastic. We had a big group and I had screwed up on our reservation date to a different restaurant on Saturday night. They were extremely accommodating and their customer service was the best we have experienced in a long time at any restaurant. They went out of their way to make sure our 6 person table was comfortable. We were outside and it began to sprinkle, and the staff moved umbrellas to make sure we were dry. Our waitress was the best (we overheard one table asked her to split the check 16 ways, she didn't even blink a eye-that is how great she was). The Smoky Paloma & Spicy Margarita hit the spot. Located inside the Manor Vail Lodge and divided into 2 sections. The main bar has tables and bar food, besides drinks. The restaurant is down the hall, with a small dining room. Both have exterior decks. Both are very quaint and relaxing. The service in the bar section was great and the bar food was great. The service in the restaurant was great, but the food I had there was for a wedding dinner. It looked great and most of it tasted ok, but it wasn't the kind of set up where you could ask for something to be made a specific way, as items were pre-ordered a month or so before. If I had gone there for a regular dinner and not an event, then just maybe my steak wouldn't have been extremely rare. Would like to try again, under different circumstances. read more

Don't even get me started on the Pot Pie... you can choose to have it either straight vegetarian or with chicken or with BISON. So delicious. After growing up in a vacation town I've realized that a lot of restaurants coast by with sub par food because they know business is guaranteed, this place however was thankfully the opposite. Their menu was original and obviously more well thought out than almost every other place we looked at. Even the pricing was better. Everything we had was the best of the weekend and our waiter Clayton made us feel more like old friends than customers.
