Went for the first time for lunch on Friday 4/5 and our table for four ordered the familia sampler. This is supposed to serve 6 people so we figured lets try it as our only food. Well for 44.50$ this sampler barely did it for us. Definitely gotta add more to this platter for the money!! Oh well now i know not to order that again !! It's unfortunate that I have to give this place 3 stars but I have too due to its layout and not being accessible for people who are wheelchair bound. Me and my wife went when it was not busy during the day and the host told us that there is two steps to go on the right side dinning area and it would be hard for me to get up those stairs due to I am paralyzed. So that was one problem, So she politely suggested us to go in the dinning area on the left. While there I observed the layout and concluded that the way they crammed tables in there it would be impossible for anyone in a wheelchair, walker or any mobile device to maneuver around due to how tight the tables were close to each other. The space in between each table was at least 18inches we figured, smh, Imagine if it was a weekend night full of people.. it would be impossible for people with disabilities to try to walk, roll around. I also observed that down in my area there was no access to a bathroom!! I guess I would have been very screwed if I needed to use the bathroom! The food was okay due to the over use of oil, at the bottom of the skillet was a layer of oil. Definitely would not recommend this place until they figure out a better layout of there tables and the step situation on the right side. They need a ramp for us wheelchair users!! Wonderful dinner with my wife last night! We shared the pork tenderloin and a Cubano, and both were perfectly prepared and plated. Excellent $5 sangrias and not too sweet. Great decor. Service was a bit wonky in regards to knowing the dinner specials. The only misstep is why have a DJ playing non-Cuban/Latin music? Came here with my gf for our our one year anniversary ...our server john was awesome...super friendly and attentive!! ...kept our drinks full & consistently checked on us the whole time ....my gf had pork with rice & beans n yucca fries sooooooo good I had beef with onion & rice and beef equally as tasty!! We have been here on 4 separate occasions. Each time was better and better. We are usually greeted by the manager with a warm "Welcome Back" as she remembered us from last time. Each time we go she seats us explaining the special for the night and what is upcoming entertainment. The server comes over quickly, each one recommends a different drink every time, I always go with their recommendations, since they are never wrong. The coconut mojito is out of this world. Passion fruit margarita is very refreshing and the sangrias are delicious. Always ALWAYS get the guacamole. Some times it's made table side, when it's busy it's made fresh in view and brought over. The croquettas are so good, wish you got more as I can eat 3 myself. The cubano mixt is the way to go! The churrasco is my husbands go to meal as I try different things every time! The paella is my favorite out of everything so far! you get so much food there's no way to finish it all. I also enjoy the vaca frita. The presentation of all the dishes is beautiful! The arroz con pollo lacks flavor. Maybe was an off night for the chef, so I will try again another time. Dessert! Wow! The churro with the banana ice cream, so simple yet so tasty! The zeppolies- any Nutella lover will be in heaven with those! The tres leches is good, but was kind of frozen in the middle when we got it. Every time there's different music depending on the day. The staff here is so profession warm, welcoming. They make you feel like friends rather than just customers! The female and male managers are so friendly! Always stopping by with a smile to see how things are! This place gives you fine dining service with out the stuck up feeling! It's so disappointing to give the Cuban just one star, but my family and I went to dinner Saturday night and service was horrible, waited forever to get waited on, 2 different servers came up to us confused if we were their table or not, finally the 3rd server was our server and the guy was all over the place. As a restaurant manager myself I couldn't believe this guy wasn't attentive, it was my sisters birthday and he brought the cake when all the dirty dishes were still on the table which is disgusting and honestly it's SERVING 101, took 10 mins to get spoons to eat the dessert, Drinks took forever( it was towards the end of the night, wasn't that busy) the manager was no where to be found(she was outside talking on the phone) and when I asked for her, it took her 15 mins to come to us( I guess her phone call was more important). Overall we left with such a bad taste in our mouth and for the money we paid, the manager didn't even care about what I was complaining about and was dismissive. We should have just gone to El Gallo like my family wanted but I pushed them to come here. Once again, restaurants are operating at half their usual capacity and now is the time to really train servers and take care of the tables that do decide to come to you. read more

They sat us (as a party of 3) at a table 2 feet long and about 1 foot wide. Not even big enough for 2 people. Asked for a larger table and put us directly in front of the speakers on MAX volume. Felt like an explosion going off next to my eardrum and never stopped. We ordered the empanadas which indeed came fast. However, the pork inside was way to salty and quite dry. For our main course, we ordered a tomahawk steak for 2 with lobster tail and shrimp. Also we got jumbo shrimp with salad. To begin, the steak we asked for medium came out raw in the middle and burnt on the exterior. Only a very small amount of it was edible yet still very dark pink on the inside. The lobster tail and shrimp had a very mild and mediocre flavor at best. Overall, waste of $120. The shrimp and salad were also bland and tasted plain. Not to mention a live gnat crawled out of the salad itself in front of our eyes! Please for the love of god never go to this establishment unless you want bad food and a war simulator. read more

I decided to celebrate my birthday with some family and friends (group of 20). Well I regret that decision for sure! The service was horrible!!! The waitress had a nasty attitude from the moment I walked in. I was disappointed overall. I was told I couldn't have an extra chair even though I should have had 2 tables of 10, one tables only seated 9. The excuse was because they counted a 6 month old in the seating. while we tried to figure out what to do, the clock was ticking because you only get 1 1/2 hours to sit. Didn't I mention the service was horrible? A few of my guest decided to leave since there weren't enough seats so that I can still enjoy myself. I tried to make the best of it even though I was still upset about the situation. I tried asking for separate bills and was told no, aggravated, but I dealt with it. The entire time we had to deal with this waitress and her nasty attitude every time we asked a question or needed something . So we wait for our bill and I noticed one of my guest getting her own. I was confused because I did ask in the beginning and was told no right away. Of course I tried to talk to management about it, and about the waitress with the nasty attitude. Even with the proof all I got was a sorry I'll talk to her. I will never go there again! Although the food was good, the service was horrible and the manager was no help. I'm happy to see the employees wearing masks but there is no social distancing at all. I visited Saturday evening and the back of my chair was touching another the back of the chair at the table behind me. Food was average we had the octopus appetizer to start and paella for dinner. Yet the service was not good. After I ordered my first drink, which I did not get until the appetizer arrived even though I ordered drinks well before placing my order I tried it (a house mango margarita) and it tasted awful, I sent it back and ordered a new drink, no problem but received it after my dinner was finished. The waiter came to the table only to take the order and bring check, needed to ask other staff for another drink. Also not the place if you want to talk to the person you are dining with on the weekend because we were sat right near the dj and I could not even hear my boyfriend tell me what he wanted to order off the menu. Woke up this morning still feeling horribly disappointed and very ripped off by my meal last night and the amount of $ I paid for dinner for 3...$150... 2 stars is for the atmosphere..definately did a great job but nobody goes to a restaurant solely on atmosphere. The appetizers were tiny..with most offering just 3 small servings of whatever it was..dinner...now if I'm paying $48 for surf and turf I expect it to be amazing...and fresh!! The lobster that was used was FROZEN (I should know I'm a chef)..wtf! And sooo over cooked you could barely peel it away from the shell. The steak they give you is enough to feed a child! My mother ordered a platter with 4 different meats..again for $35 it didn't wow her..what's with the child size pieces of steak?? Ribs were very tough..2 shrimp..1 sausage..and a weird tasting piece of chicken. Plate was worth maybe max $15 and they charged $35..it was laughable. But they are located in the New Village building which explains the high prices and poor quality of food and very small portions. Save your $ and go elsewhere. Most places now in Patchogue tend to rip people off because of high rent which is disappointing. Still mad about $48 for some frozen seafood and tiny steak. Won't be returning ever. read more

We were excited to try the newest restaurant in Patchogue. Cool decor & looked promising. Unfortunately a huge let down. We had a table of 9 & it was clear from the beginning our waitress was totally overwhelmed. I thought initially it was due to a language barrier, but we had 2 native Spanish speakers at the table who clarified each item. She still got the food wrong, forgot drinks and was rude throughout. My soup arrived completely cold & my drink - just rum, ginger ale & mint - was bitter & gross. I actually sent back... my drink. The food was mediocre: I ordered a salad with steak med rare & it arrived well done, salty & tough. My friends were also unhappy with their food. We tried to split the meal 9 ways but were told we could only use 8 cards. The waitress literally scolded us in Spanish as we tried to work it out. My friend leaned across the table and said, "out waitress is a total bitch." I couldn't agree more. They had already added 20% to the bill, so why should she be nice? We overpaid for cold food, bad drinks and bitchy service. I hope the place closes soon. read more

we visited the area and came upon the cuban based on the recommendation of a friend. not a bad choice! the first impression was not the greatest. we were greeted by the sign expressing that the formal attire was required with a detailed list of what was not acceptable to wear. my husband and i are laid back people and do not like to dress up and felt a little uncomfortable. the front room with the bar felt really cozy, however, the room where we were seated was lit a little too brigth and lacked a proper ambiance. I liked the decoration on the walls and the cuban music that played in the background. the bathrooms were spotless clean and smelled good. we chose the cuban sandwich with yucca fries and we were not disapointed. i also ordered their watermelon mojito and it was very tasteful. i was a little disapointed about how long it took just to place an order (the waitress appeared 15 min after she took our drink order). the place has a great potential! read more

We were there on 7/18/19, yesterday. The decor,atmosphere, and band were impressive, we did enjoy those aspects. However, the food and service were disappointing. The waitress we had although she knew the items on the menu, but her demeanor, customer service skills and language definitely needs major improvement. She was abrupt and just not pleasant. At one point, it felt like she was telling us it was time to leave because she kept coming to our table and brought the check when we were not even done for the evening. That was very rude! Lastly, we ordered the appetizer sample, the cod fish platter that was included was horrible. It was rubbery and not cooked correctly. I would have expected better for a $40 something dollar sample plate. Regrettably, I will not return, nor recommend that place. My family, friends and I eat out very often and i have to say, this place does not make my top 20. It has a lot of potential, just hope they do better with their staff customer skills. read more

I have had many up and down experiences in dining out in my life, but this has to take the cake. I took my cousin and his daughter out for our first time to the Cuban and from the beginning it started bad. The waiter had no idea they served sparkling water which was hotter then room temp, or mojitos by the pitcher , meanwhile other tables had pitchers on them. First the appetizers took 30 minutes to come out , were bland and barely warm, Not even 10 minutes after the apps were brought out the main dishes came out as we were barely 5 bites in, my cousin asked for no jalepenos in his entree but that was ignored and got them anyway. his daughters steak was well done instead of medium, at this point it has been 40 minutes and the mojito finally comes after we make a comment and it comes out being just VODKA, and ice with mint leaves! Since when is that how a mojito is made ? And we ordered passion fruit to begin with. Portions were to laugh at for the prices paid , you get barely a child's portion of rice and 4 tablespoons of beans if your lucky. This will be the first and last time I go to this place. I felt embarrassed brining family here from the city to experience what we had, your better off with the bodega food at the corner and a pack of beer to boot. Can't see this place lasting long if this is the norm as I can see by the reviews of 1 star, which I wish we could give it less. read more

Disappointed to say the least. Heard nothing but great things about the other location and was so happy to find out there was one in town. Took my mom there for her birthday the other day and had a horrible experience. We were seated in an uneven combined two tables by the bathroom where it seemed no waiter was assigned to. Our waitress, Jessica, i believe her name was (that's what it said on the check) had an attitude since the start. When asked what a drink was at another table she simply replied "i don't know" and then asked what we would want. Then after she came back for the order she asked if we were ready or had any questions. Well, being that it was our first time my mom asked about a dish, she read off of the menu what it said and then said i guess I'll give you guys some more time and walked away. Due this we all ended up with Cuban sandwiches since we had no idea what anything else was. Shame too because the food actually looked good! Unfortunately, since our waitress didn't even bother to come back after bringing the wrong dish we had to ask another waiter who luckily switched it out for us. Didn't even try to bother with letting them know we were there to celebrate moms birthday. Sad for a new place to have such poor customer service. One thing is to be new and training another is to simply have poor service!! read more

This was our third trip to The Cuban. And, our last. Tonight, at 6 pm, place was basically empty. Tonight's special was 2 appetizers and 2 entress for $30. Sounded like a great deal. First, again, no greeter to seat us. This was the same the last two times. We had to find her.. got a table and waited 15 mins for drink order. Got drinks and gave our appitizer and entree orders. Place had a few tables busy by this time. Our entrees came in 15 mins, but one was wrong. They left one entree at the table to get cold while we waited for the second. Oh yeah, the appitizer and the entree came on the same plate. That is not an appitizer then. Its a small side salad. Waited another 15 mins for our other app/entree. Food was good . No one ever asks if we wanted a second drink. No one asked tables around us if they wanted second drinks. We heard people complaining. No one ever apologized for the entree error. The bus girls were the hardest workers there . Service at this place is apathetic at best. Many fine restaurants in this area. This is not one of them . read more
