    The Cuban

Very disappointing experience. We made a reservation for a party of 9 on a Saturday night, and to our surprise it was not busy at all. And now we know why. The food was not good. The seafood and beef dishes our party ordered tasted old and rancid. The ambiance was not good. The manager was terrible; he seemed unhappy to be there. We asked if they could play some different music because they kept playing the same music; and he said no. They played the same Bad Bunny songs and it was really annoying, we like Bad Bunny but it was just over and over the same songs. The manager said they let go of the live band which was the reason we went in the first place so asked for them to play some music our family could dance to and he said no. The dancers were not that good and kept shouting at the audience, All in all a very disappointing experience. We spent a lot of money but they seem to cater to the crowd that comes later and really doesn't spend any money on food. Never again

Had another great time at the Cuban. The staff was friendly and the food was good! Just stopped by for apps and drinks. We enjoyed the after party there after the Hispanic cultural heritage parade.

We decided to try The Cuban for Father's Day, the hostess greeted us immediately, she was friendly and luckily for us it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. They had live music which was great which made the atmosphere that much more very festive. The service was quick. Our only gripe is that the ribeye was forgotten until essentially the end of the meal, otherwise the food was great however very pricey.

Always a good time here. Usually go with my husband at night and it's such a good environment. Went for my son's birthday for lunch and it was quiet! Service and food always great. I love Cuban food and it tastes authentic

So, I have been to the Cuban in Bayside and now this one in Patchogue. The one in bayside is much better, in terms of the food served. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and it came with fried plantains. Meanwhile, at the Cuban in Patchogue, I received three yucca fries. The whole dish was $21, which I though was expensive for a sandwich. I have yet to visit the one in Garden City but other people say that one is okay. I was with someone else and the waitress didn't get my friend's order correct. Service was quick, but I didn't appreciate the three yucca fries. FYI - A musician plays music on Sunday's. Call to ask for specific times. Would I come back ? Eh, maybe. I won't go out of my way, that's for sure.

Table in front of the restrooms, bon appetite!

I booked a table for 5 expecting good seats but was placed by a loud, crowded stage. When I asked manager Kimberly to change it, she was rude and only offered bar seats or a spot by the restroom, which smelled and was uncomfortable. We left without eating, and as we left, I noticed they removed the original table. Very rude service, manager gives you attitude and no apology!

Fun times on a Saturday night at The Cuban. Our party of six had reservations for 8pm. They initially were going to sit us outside, but all the fun and entertainment was inside. So we chose to wait by the bar until the table was ready inside. We ordered drinks (Strawberry Mojito for me) while we waited, and not too long after we were seated. It was so lively and the atmosphere was exciting. It felt like little Havana in Miami. There was live music, dancing, and celebrations all around. We shared a few apps - chips and guacamole, chicken quesadilla, crab cakes, and of course bread. The portions of the appetizers are small and not really "sharable" for 6 people but we made it work. Besides we were ordering entrees and that portion was pretty big. Everyone ordered the Paella except for me and and another person. It came out piping hot in a skillet, so hot 2 people at the table burned their finger. Usually servers warn you it's hot. They said it was good. As for my food, it was just ok. Nothing spectacular about it. I got something simple - grilled marinated chicken with white rice and black beans. Any how, great time out. Check it out if you're in the area.

The Rabo Encedido Dinner (Oxtail and chorizo) not enough rice to finish the dish..

This restaurant has great ambiance. You walk in, and immediately feel as if you walked into a café in Miami or Havana. The decor speaks to a time when music and food compliment each other perfectly. The food was decent. We had the fresh guacamole with mango, it was delicious with the fresh chips. I ordered the oxtail and chorizo dish, which came with white rice. The portion of rice wasn't enough to enjoy the oxtails, which was good but not as tender as I would've liked. Flavor was good. We ordered a side of maduros that never came. That was disappointing. The drinks were ok, I had a passion fruit mojito. It was decent. Overall, the ambiance made this experience good. They have a stage set up for the Latin bands to come in and perform live on the weekends.

    Mini Cuban snd yucca fries

This was a spot on the Food Done It? Eat on the Streets tour. The bread to start was absolutely delicious! It was soft and the outside had a nice crunch. The butter that accompanied it was delicious as well. I had a mini Cuban. On the Cuban was pernil, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard. It was very flavorful. With the mini Cuban came yucca fries and a mojo dipping sauce. SO DELICIOUS! Yucca fries were very light, but still had a nice crisp. Not oily or greasy at all. The mojo dipping was great too. Our waitress described it as a garlic sauce. Service was nice and friendly.

Santa Clara healthy omelet ( but requested normal eggs instead of egg whites ). Really enjoyed the sofrita sauce on top of the eggs.

I had a visitor in from Oklahoma and thought he would enjoy the food. We were a party of 5. I was literally surprised by the quality of the food and really disappointed. We ordered Nachos as a appetizer and when it came it looked empty. No seasoning on the chicken barely any cheese or salsa on them. ( picture included) one person ordered a quesadilla with shrimp. It was very flat and she opened it and the shrimp was squashed into a ball, barely any cheese and she sent it back before I had a chance to take a picture. They took it off the bill. We ordered a medium skirt steak that was supposed to be marinated but it wasn't and looked so unappealing but he ate it anyway. I ordered the tropical plater which is a favorite of mine. The steak was disgusting( picture attached) The only dish that came out ok was the steak fajitas. We also had 4 cocktails. Our waitress was really nice and did her best. I truly hope this is a fluke but felt the owner of this business should be aware. I never minded the cost of the food because you knew the food would be delicious. This time we paid $178.35 for a horrible experience at Gallo's in Patchogue, NY

The front of house staff let us know that we could grab a drink at the bar while our table was prepared, and through a turn of events ended up speaking with the staff and they actually ended up comping our drinks! We were promptly seated and served with warm bread and some type of whipped garlic butter that was incredible. We ordered a few apps, and the cubancitos were a great taste, especially if you don't want to get a whole sandwich as your entree. My wife got the guac, which is prepared table side to liking. For entrees, we got the Lechoncito and the Pollo Sofrito, which were both bursting with flavor and presented perfectly. By the time we were done with out meals, the place was bustling and busy, but unfortunately we missed the live entertainment. From the outside, the place looks pretty cool and inviting, with several classic cars parked out front that immediately catch your attention. We were greeted by friendly staff, and the atmosphere inside was very lively. We sat down and ordered our food along with some cocktails. The coconut shrimp was just okay--it tasted like it had been fried a bit too long. The chicken with garlic rice and beans was unfortunately very salty, almost to the point of being hard to eat. Our second dish, the ropa vieja, was again just okay and had a noticeable sweetness to it--possibly from the peppers. The drinks were decent, and the place features a dance floor, giving it more of a nightlife vibe than a traditional sit-down restaurant. While I'm not sure I'd return specifically for the food, I would recommend it if you're looking for Latin flavors, drinks, and a fun nightlife atmosphere.
