I attended an event here on 8/20/25, sponsored by the Long Island Urban League, and I was impressed from start to finish. At the bar, I had a caipirinha that stood out from any I've had elsewhere. Jose made it with Leblon cachaça--a premium brand you rarely see at other Latin restaurants. Strong, clean, and crisp--nothing like the usual watered-down "house" versions. Once I was seated, the apps kept coming--sausage, pigs in a blanket, mozzarella sticks, hash browns, jalapeño poppers, meatballs, empanadas, and spring rolls. My favorites: pigs in a blanket and mozz sticks. Service was outstanding--Jose, Jefferson, and Stephanie made sure everything came out hot and fresh. The restaurant was spotless and tastefully decorated, which made the night even better. Overall, I left impressed with the drinks, food, and hospitality. I'll definitely be back. The pictures attached to this review are from all of my experiences at The Cuban. All of my visits here have been great. This particular review is based on my fourth time dining here; I have been for both lunch and dinner during evening entertainment. The food has always been good, and the hospitality is excellent. Recently, I came to this restaurant because there was a longer wait at Buttermilk Kitchen, and I was already on the verge of being hangry. I knew The Cuban was open and mostly empty. We waited about three minutes before someone welcomed us and brought us to our seats. I usually order the churrasco, but I decided to try something new this time. They started us off with bread, which is absolutely delicious (I'm obsessed with it). We also ordered chicken and beef empanadas as our starter. I had a piña colada, which was also very tasty. For our entrees, my mom tried the oxtail, and I tried something new (though I can't remember the name). The service was good, pretty fast, and our waiter was attentive and very lovely. Went to the Cuban last night with the girls. The Cuban in patchogue Long Island, is an amazing spot for dinner and drinks! I've been before for lunch & dinner...... mid day. But lastnight we joined the bar for some late night action. The DJ was great. And our drinks were delicious. If you love Cuban cuisine with Latin music, this is definitely the place to go. I had some great old school feels when the DJ played, what I call old school reggaeton, music. The girls and I enjoyed Somme great drinks. My fav was my expresso martinis. I've been on an expresso martini kick. I did start the night with "The perfect margarita" before the bartender poured me my martinis. I will definitely go back! Very disappointing experience. We made a reservation for a party of 9 on a Saturday night, and to our surprise it was not busy at all. And now we know why. The food was not good. The seafood and beef dishes our party ordered tasted old and rancid. The ambiance was not good. The manager was terrible; he seemed unhappy to be there. We asked if they could play some different music because they kept playing the same music; and he said no. They played the same Bad Bunny songs and it was really annoying, we like Bad Bunny but it was just over and over the same songs. The manager said they let go of the live band which was the reason we went in the first place so asked for them to play some music our family could dance to and he said no. The dancers were not that good and kept shouting at the audience, All in all a very disappointing experience. We spent a lot of money but they seem to cater to the crowd that comes later and really doesn't spend any money on food. Never again read more

A bit of a strange layout but it's fine. It gets the job done. We snagged a seat at the bar on a busy Saturday evening. The stage is technically behind the bar, with live music and dancers. There is a TV above the bar that shows the performance since you can't see much beyond a hand from the bar seating. The private room is tucked away from it, as well. See? Odd layout. The drinks were good. My mojito was just what I needed. My sofrito chicken was full of flavor. The rice and beans were just okay. My partner did not enjoy his moro but did enjoy his steak. I feel like the food at this location and the one in GC are just okay. This is more of a party spot where you can go and dance if you can find space where the stage is visible. read more

We decided to try The Cuban for Father's Day, the hostess greeted us immediately, she was friendly and luckily for us it wasn't too busy and we were seated right away. They had live music which was great which made the atmosphere that much more very festive. The service was quick. Our only gripe is that the ribeye was forgotten until essentially the end of the meal, otherwise the food was great however very pricey. read more

So, I have been to the Cuban in Bayside and now this one in Patchogue. The one in bayside is much better, in terms of the food served. I ordered a Cuban sandwich and it came with fried plantains. Meanwhile, at the Cuban in Patchogue, I received three yucca fries. The whole dish was $21, which I though was expensive for a sandwich. I have yet to visit the one in Garden City but other people say that one is okay. I was with someone else and the waitress didn't get my friend's order correct. Service was quick, but I didn't appreciate the three yucca fries. FYI - A musician plays music on Sunday's. Call to ask for specific times. Would I come back ? Eh, maybe. It's been 5 years since my last reviee of this place, and i am updating the review. I would have gave this place a five-star rating, however, it's too small for dancing and the shows they want to do. The wait staff is great and the manager is excellent and he really goes out of his way to make everybody feel special. The dance floor is way too small to accommodate the crowd and the only access is a narrow hall between the main stage area and the bar. We were constantly stepping out of way of other patrons passing through or the staff going back and forth to kitchen. The music is too loud in the other areas of the restaurant where there is no dancing and just dining. It's very difficult to have a conversation there and you are drowned out by the music or the performance. They need to system a little bit better and keep the loud music in the area where the stage is. Parking in Patchogue is also an issue. You're lucky if you find a spot close to the restaurant. If you do go buy a lotto ticket that night, because you on a good luck streak . The owner owns two other restaurants in Suffolk that probably would probably be better suited for dinner club atmosphere or experience that he is trying to do. He probably would do more business and pay less rent in Port Jefferson Station and Smithtown. The outside parking area alone could accommodate outside activities also. read more

Disclaimer that this is a review for NYE, so understood that perhaps they weren't at their best. But...we made a reservation last year for NYE and had a fabulous experience so there's that. Starting with the check in at the hostess stand. Super sweet hostess warmly greeted our party of 6 and then immediately turned around to delegate our seating to another hostess. The abrupt change in tone and rude way she spoke to the second hostess wasn't a great start for me. Second hostess walked us to the table, handed us menus (to our hands) and said "we have a limit of ABOUT two hours tonight". No hello, Happy New Year, go jump in a lake, nothing. Second point off came when one of our party ordered prosecco. Server's response was "I don't know if we have that". She continued to stand at our table in what appeared to be a waiting pose for another beverage option, but we asked if she could check and report back at which time she did. It's NYE after all and probably a good idea to know that going into your shift or offer right away to check out the bar! Willy's table side guac was a strong determining factor in coming to The Cuban, and without letting us know upon order, the guacamole was made in the back and delivered to the table. There was no opportunity for us to watch and contribute our two cents to the ingredients (which everyone likes to do...), and it required us to ask for table salt (only brought a salt shaker no pepper, just never saw that before) and had to manually break up avocado with our forks. For the same price as a table side guac show, this was a fail. Dinner arrived with a lot of confusion. A couple of wrong plates were delivered to our table and needed to be switched in the kitchen. I'm not sure if the experience itself had an effect on our perception of the food, but taste was mediocre at best. I'm not a salt person, and the fact that I had to salt my own dish was a bit disappointing. The music and lights and party vibes however, EXCELLENT! They really brought the fun New Year vibes and we had a great time dancing at the table- definitely a celebratory mood at The Cuban which is a major plus. It's hard to hit all the marks on a night like NYE, but since we know The Cuban can, we would've hoped for a bit better showing this year. Unfortunately that's the last time our group will choose the Cuban for our New Year celebration. Maybe we'll give it another shot a different day of the year! read more

I booked a table for 5 expecting good seats but was placed by a loud, crowded stage. When I asked manager Kimberly to change it, she was rude and only offered bar seats or a spot by the restroom, which smelled and was uncomfortable. Fun times on a Saturday night at The Cuban. Our party of six had reservations for 8pm. They initially were going to sit us outside, but all the fun and entertainment was inside. So we chose to wait by the bar until the table was ready inside. We ordered drinks (Strawberry Mojito for me) while we waited, and not too long after we were seated. It was so lively and the atmosphere was exciting. It felt like little Havana in Miami. There was live music, dancing, and celebrations all around. We shared a few apps - chips and guacamole, chicken quesadilla, crab cakes, and of course bread. The portions of the appetizers are small and not really "sharable" for 6 people but we made it work. Besides we were ordering entrees and that portion was pretty big. Everyone ordered the Paella except for me and and another person. It came out piping hot in a skillet, so hot 2 people at the table burned their finger. Usually servers warn you it's hot. They said it was good. As for my food, it was just ok. This restaurant has great ambiance. You walk in, and immediately feel as if you walked into a café in Miami or Havana. The decor speaks to a time when music and food compliment each other perfectly. The food was decent. We had the fresh guacamole with mango, it was delicious with the fresh chips. I ordered the oxtail and chorizo dish, which came with white rice. The portion of rice wasn't enough to enjoy the oxtails, which was good but not as tender as I would've liked. Flavor was good. We ordered a side of maduros that never came. That was disappointing. The drinks were ok, I had a passion fruit mojito. It was decent. Overall, the ambiance made this experience good. I was waiting at the bar area to get a cocktail and nobody came over to our area for about 10 minutes plus. I would've stayed if we got great service and had my full meal there as I was debating if I should truly go to my reservation because the wait time was too long at the other restaurant and the menu did look good but because there was no service I just decided to walk out and leave. This was a spot on the Food Done It? Eat on the Streets tour. The bread to start was absolutely delicious! It was soft and the outside had a nice crunch. The butter that accompanied it was delicious as well. I had a mini Cuban. On the Cuban was pernil, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles and mustard. It was very flavorful. With the mini Cuban came yucca fries and a mojo dipping sauce. SO DELICIOUS! Yucca fries were very light, but still had a nice crisp. Not oily or greasy at all. The mojo dipping was great too. So I went to the Bay Side Cuban before and I didn't get the same experience. But I have to say that I should've stayed local and went to the one here In Patchogue. I would have to say that I was mind blown by their civiche! Out of this world. You get a mix of octupus and some shrimps with that nice tangy mango and lime sauce! Truly amazing. It was my first time having civiche outside of my aunts house because she makes a great batch herself but sorry Tia, this one blew my mind. Also, their Churrasco was deeeelious! Especially with the red onions! Tender meat with that bbq Smokey flavor it was truly a fiesta in my mouth! And your experience is not complete with a cold Presidente beer to wash it all down! My friends and I had a reservation for 10 to have brunch inside. Even though it was a nice day out, we didn't want to deal with the bees. All of the staff were wearing masks and were very nice. Although the tables were spread out 6ft, the entire room of tables was full. The bottomless drinks are a must for brunch here!!! I loved the champagne punch. You can also choose to get mimosas or Bloody Mary. You are allowed to switch between the three drinks during brunch, but I stuck with the punch. For my high standards, the food was mediocre. I had the steak and eggs which was said to have caramelized onions, it did have a few but not enough for me. All of us received our meals except one of us, who only ordered a side of home fries and bacon. His took an extra 15 minutes and most of us waited to start eating. Overall I would say great for bottomless drinks during brunch but if you aren't looking to drink, there's probably better food out there. I will come back to try dinner one day though. read more

We've been wanting to try this place for a while and it was nice! I had a raspberry caprihlana for a drink. Apps we got the mini Cuban sliders and the grilled octopus. For entrees I had Ropa Vieja( my favorite Cuban dish) he had the Puerco Frito. The best part of the whole meal was the octopus by far. It was grilled perfectly, which is tough to do, and left whole, not cut up in little chunks like some places do. So good!The sliders were decent, but not my favorite- Cubans are my favorite sandwich so I'm a bit critical. They were a little sweet and I would have liked a crispier bread. My dish was decent, but I've had better, it just was a little lackluster in terms of the taste. His was okay, I wasn't crazy about it but he liked it. Drink was well made, not too sweet not too boozy. They have a photographer come around and take photos. I wish they would have told us up front that they're $20/piece. They come back some time later with a selection of framed ones. We got one anyway, but I thought maybe it was for their socials or something, not a sales thing. Service was okay, bf will be the first to say so, and we're both pretty easy going. It was just very rushed and inattentive. We did have a reservation, and we were told the table time limit, which that's fine- but our food literally flew out one after the other. We also were there earlier, 5pm dinner( didn't want to deal with the live music, and sometimes it's nice to eat early!) because we figured it would be before the rush and allow for a more relaxed dinner. The warm rolls with spiced butter they bring to table are delicious. We split an order of plantain chips which were so delicious but a bit skimpy on the guacamole & chili dipping sauces for the price. My husband had the Chicken soup, which is more like a stew than soup. Very hearty, not much broth. But delicious. For his entree he went with the Famous Cuban sandwich. I couldn't decide so I had empanadas appetizer & cubanito appetizer, which are 2 smaller Cuban sandwich sliders. Have to say, side by side I didn't think his sandwich was that much more than my 2 sliders. Expected a little more for your money. That said, both the Cuban and Cubanito were delicious!!! We didn't care for the side dish. Some kind of fried stick tasted like plantains and cormeal. Pretty bland. Think a sweet dipping sauce would compliment it better than the watery bitter sauce it comes with. Overall we really liked it and I'm sure will be back. My girlfriend and I stopped by with reservations for Brunch on a Saturday morning. We were 10 minutes late, but were still accommodated. The restaurant wasn't very busy, thankfully. The man who greeted us was so gracious, funny and welcoming. We were even asked our preference of table location and were seated at an adorable booth/table combo right next to the window. It was a beautiful morning; the decor was lively and tropical. Bachata was playing and all of my faves come on - loved the vibes. Menus are on the table and we were served bread once seated. The bread/flaky-textured biscuit with herb butter was delicious. We went with the unlimited Mimosa/Champagne Punch for $14.50 (for 90-minutes) - a steal. For our entrees: I went with the Huevos Cubano - a take on Eggs Benedict, my friend went with the Macuba. My friend does NOT prefer her eggs over easy or runny, but she is now a believer!!! She loved her meal. My meal was fantastic and flavorful BUT my eggs were a bit overdone and we both were missing our toast. Their take on hollandaise added the Latin element I never knew I needed. The service was amazing. We really needed for nothing, and our glasses were constantly refilled. We were treated so well by everyone. Overall I would return to try dinner and other drinks. We never received our appetizer, our entrees were brought out by different server and our server never came back to check until we got the check which we had to ask a passing server for. Yeah, I have to say, three stars seems about right. We had so many hopes for this place because really, there aren't that many good local Cuban restaurants on the island. Chalk this one up to being okay. Maybe our standards are high because my mother-in-law is Cuban and also a great cook. She didn't like what she had at all (ropa vieja). My husband had the steak -- a dish he eats often -- and he thought it was mediocre. My father-in-law wanted the oxtail but they had run out. I had some kind of shrimp dish that was fine, but I don't think I'd order it again. The food was just a bit bland and nothing about it stood out. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't something I'd give more than three stars for. We might give the place another chance, but even the service was just okay, nothing great. Disappointed. I have been waiting for this place to open so long that my hair started to turn grey! Well, not actually but it did sort of feel that way. For months, just walking by The Cuban ignited excitement inside me due to the fact that I am a huge fan of Cuban cuisine. So on a whim last night, myself, my best friend, her mom and her brother decided to give this new place a try. We were all highly excited to give this place a try and had very high expectations. Let me start by saying that the restaurant is absolutely stunning! The walls are covered in Cuban inspired decor and you are transported to a whole new world of color, excitement and fun. At first we were all gung ho about the place. The menu seemed promising and the staff were friendly. However, our waiter was weird. He moved way too fast, seemed oddly nervous or like he didn't know how to take an order and just wasn't as personable as he should have been. It took about an hour and a half for our orders to come out. We waited and waited and waited to the point where we really wanted to walk out. Sadly, we had already ordered appetizers beforehand so we couldn't. These came out rather swift and were actually good (empanadas). After our meals FINALLY arrived, they were such a let down! My friend's mom received chicken that was so small and thin she complained it could have been a dish for a child. My friend's brother's meal was lackluster. I ordered crab cakes and they were literally the size of a quarter. It was sad and so lackluster. If they work out the kinks, I would come back. However, terrible service, confused staff and meals that have no seasoning, flavor or taste is a horrible way to start off in a restaurant. Drinks ok. Staff was nice, except a bus girl who doesn't clear the table or seem to want to do her job. The manager actually had to tell her to clear our table. When she came over, she looked irritated. My food was ok, not the meat was a little fatty. 2 people at my table sent back food. Said it was not good. What really irritated me and they should address this, they sent a person around to take your picture. They take a few of you and family at table. My issue was, they come back right as my dinner came out and were showing me the pics trying to sell me them, $20 each. We're trying to eat, don't do that. I doubt we'll be back. Not impressed.
