I've been to the location in Bayside but I didn't get to dine indoors so decided to give this location a try specially because I've seen the decor on Tik Tok and I was curious. The decor was really cute, made me feel like I was in Miami. For food, lets start with the bread. WOW just wow! I wish I would've took some bread home because it was everything and more. My friends ordered the guacamole which is made in front of you, it was a huge portion. We also had the Cuban Churrasco, Lechoncito and the Steak Salad. I have come here several times at night for dancing and I love food place. However I came for dinner for the first time for my dad's birthday with my family. All of the reviews talk about how loud it is. I thought they were being dramatic and old. I'm 37 and I was uncomfortable with thy noise from the moment we waked in. Forget the fact we couldn't hold a conversation. All the of my kids ages 8, 11 and 15 were also uncomfortable. They had to go to the car before the check came. Due to busy schedules, my wife & I tend to eat out 90% of the time. Coming in from NYC for the weekend, we decided to go to one of our favorite areas in Patchogue because we like the options of many dining establishments. Being Cinco de Mayo, there were many "clubby" events last night, so we decided on The Cuban with the live band. My wife is Puerto Rican who loves latino foods & is a great cook herself. For the record, I don't have the time to write reviews, nor do I care. But I'm compelled to do so when the experience was either excellent, or horrible. I'm not a food snob either. The Cuban venue looks very nice with the right vibe for the Cuban flair. This is the best and only part of my review, unfortunately. Upon entering, a gentleman greeted us asking if we had a reservation. I did not, had no idea, felt a little bad for my wife being that I must've not prepared in advance. He told us that he doesn't think there are any tables for us & to wait. There were plenty of tables open & it was late, so I was thinking, "are all your reservations coming in the final hours"? So we waited until the hostess came by to greet us and she quickly took us to a table promptly. I asked her if we needed a reservation, she said "no". I soon realized afterwards that it was the "bouncer" who requested a reservation - yes, the bouncer. Why? Not to dismiss his job, but he had no idea if I truly needed on. I shrugged it off, I'm ready to dine with my wife. Menu looks appealing, looking forward to good food. Ordered drinks, my wife asks for a Casamigos Reposado skinny margarita. I drink Anejo on rocks - can't mess that up. Her margarita was loaded with sour mix - completely yellow, laziest way to make a Magarita. It wasn't a skinny, which is only lime juice squeezed, dash of orange - no sour or triple sec. She mentioned it to our waiter and he only offered to get her ginger ale or sprite to lighten it, not offer of correcting it. After a minute of discussing this, I had to firmly ask the waiter to simply bring her some orange juice instead. This is unacceptable. But, once again, I shrugged it off because we have a long ride and I wanted the rest of evening to be pleasant. I ordered the La Campechana. Whole lobster, shrimp, scallops, mussels... sounds great especially for a meal costing around $40 - it must be good. I like eating at seafood boils where I can enjoy a good variety of shellfish. So, I get the dish, looks OK, until I started eating. First off, 2 small shrimps, 2 small mussels, 2 OK scallops. 2 tiny clams. The magic number is 2. I could've literally placed all this meat on 2 spoons. Skimpy portion for the price of this dish. Again, shrugged it off, looking forward to the lobster. The lobster was the worst I've ever had. This is not exaggeration. The tail was literally non-existent, like it never had the chance to swim to build up some meat - mostly farmed. Whatever meat I could find - IT WAS MUSHY. You can squeeze the meat and it separates like power. This is clear indication of the worst kind of lobster. This is caused by a dead lobster that released enzymes which started the decomposition process prior to being cooked. This lobster was dead for too long before they decided to freeze/cook it. Freezing and thawing can somewhat degrade the meat too, but not like this. I've had thawed lobster that was perfectly fine and this was not the case. Drowning it sauce will not hide the poor meat quality behind the shell. A can of tuna would've been 100x more satisfying and less likely to get sick from. My wife's dish was 2 lobster tails. She did mention to me that the tails were quite small and asked me if it's possibly crawfish? I assured her that it was lobster, but there were definitely on the small side. The curry cream sauce was tasty for her, so she wasn't complaining. Obviously the tails and whole lobsters are from 2 different sources. So, I'm thinking, maybe the dessert can make up for this bad experience. Thought too soon. The same "bouncer" came up to our table, without excusing himself, and said, "Just so that you know, we're closed." There were a few tables with patrons still enjoying their final dishes, drinks, desserts and what not ... I was starting to get annoyed now. Even my wife at this point was annoyed by it, and she's the passive one. I'm not a jerk, I understand that people work, have families to go home to, etc. I left out other minor annoyances, however the points I've made here was what stood out. I was thinking to myself that I paid $180 to have a bad experience. I frequent all the other places on this Main St, and I've had much better experiences to excellent ones at a much lesser dining bill. It is sad because although the Cuban looks nice, the menu looks nice... the experience I received was a major diminishing return for the business. So, what's the point of running one? The Cuban I had been meaning to stop by this restaurant since it opened and I had not gotten around to it given that we were not frequenting Patchogue as of late. We had an opportunity to come here and dine when we scheduled a visit to the Patchogue Theater to see the comedian Paula Paunstone. The ambiance at the Cuban was vibrant. I felt delighted to drink in it's wonderful air and it's vivacious color palette; it reminded me of home in Puerto Rico. The Cuban was possessed by those Caribbean flavors that are very much a part of Latin cuisine. In this much, along with a great selections of sounds in the air, the Cuban has got it going on. The folks working the establishment were very polite, thoughtful, and entertaining; our waitress, Jessica, was devoted to making sure we were enjoying our experience. She was buzzing all over the place as more folks kept pouring in that evening. Our wait time understandingly slowed, yet was never a slow down that became upsetting because Jessica was on point. The food was pretty good and the drinks were fantastic. I did find my dish could have used a bit more seasoning, but I enjoyed it pretty well. Look at the date I posted my pancakes at the cuban for brunch (March 27th) They were actually the best pancakes I have ever had. Went back this morning to get them again, and they tasted like cold Aunt Jemima pancakes. I was so disappointed. Look at the HUGE difference in the pancakes. We had a party of 4 and two of which had severe shellfish allergies. What if we had never asked? So far I have only been here for brunch, but I hear the dinner and live music is great at night. As a brunch spot, The Cuban is one of Patchogue's hidden gems. The restaurant is a nice size, so unlike most brunch spots in the area with long waits, it can accommodate a lot of people without the hassle. They have a great unlimited brunch drink package (set price for a 2 hour window), and the menu had a lot of unique options. I got the Cuban Omelette - it was tasty and gigantic. Came here tonight. I was told the wait would be n hour and 15 minutes so we waited in the car. I called the place to see how much longer the wait would be and the phone kept ringing and ringing. The music is incredibly, incredibly loud. We were the room where the DJ and dancers weren't but I could not hear my boyfriend over the music and he was sitting right across from me. We ordered two versions of the skirt steak and they were average. My steak was dry but my boyfriend said his was pretty good. Unfortunately, the food didn't settle right with both of our stomachs, though. I did a shot of tequila and it was $11 which I thought was bizarre!!!! The way they sing happy birthday is cool and they pour a shot of liquor straight into your mouth from the bottle!!! I'm glad I finally went. The live entertainment was awesome. This place is incredible. They have live entertainment some nights while you eat. Grooveline Entertainers is a family band that plays here and we love seeing them. The lead singer is so upbeat, funny, friendly and positive. He really knows how to turn anyone's night around. We have seen them twice and will definitely come back to see them again. It's a really fun place to hang out when there's no dancing anywhere right now during Covid 19 pandemic. They are very safe and follow all protocols. Not only are the drinks here strong and unique the food is delicious too. I got the Churrasco cubano and my fiancé got the Costilla de vaca a la 100 fuego. The plates here are a bit expensive but worth it. My drink was the Cuban Paradise and we also had the white and peach sangria. We love the atmosphere here and the decor too. This definitely was NOT the case here. I will forever remember the flavor , portion, size, and dish of pulpo from The Cubans!!!! ..... Mother F*^%##* it was PHENOMENAL ! For our entrees she ordered the ropa Vieja. she said it was very good and had no complaints... Of course she made me take a fork full and I have to admit it was great! I had the Vaca Frita and a side order of Maduros. Pretty solid dish. No complaints but a compliments. Instead of dessert I took a third order of rum and Coke and she had the tres leches cake. And as you know .. she made me try it... had to say... perfect perfect perfect cake and it wasn't a small piece either for the price. I came here for lunch for the first time on Sunday with my family. Our waitress was very nice, the atmosphere was great and food was good. The menu is digital so you scan the QR code and everything pops up on your phone. We scanned it which led to the Lunch menu and ordered from there. When our bill came I realized the price of my dish was $10 higher than what was on the menu and when I asked, another waitress said that they don't serve lunch on Sundays and that was the dinner price. I mentioned that there was nothing stating that there was no lunch and that in fact the menu we scanned led us straight to the lunch menu (no mention of specific days only) She went to speak to the manager who refused to come over and explain anything to us, instead said nothing we can do and left everything as is. When we finished our meal, the manager went out of his way to leave the area to avoid us asking him any questions directly. I was extremely frustrated that a restaurant would rather lose customers and referrals over $10 and prefer customers to leave with a negative experience. The even more frustrating point is that no where in our encounter was there any sign or mention of no lunch menus on Sunday. The quality of the food at The Cuban deserves 5 stars. The food here is amazing. I rated 2 stars because the service is THAT BAD. Let me explain. Walking into the restaurant there is usually no hostess and you kinda stand there wondering what you should do next. The wait staff is ungodly slow. You may wait a half hour to get your food order in. Getting a second round of drinks is nearly impossible. That just blows my mind because they must lose out on a lot of money on not selling more alcohol. I'll order 3 beers when I sit down to avoid that headache. Calling in orders is hit or miss with them getting it right or wrong. You're much better off ordering online. Being fluent in Spanish won't help you here. They still get it wrong. A lot of their dishes are supposed to come with black beans. That doesn't always happen with takeout. Onto some positives, once again their food is simply amazing which is why I deal with the bad service. Their cocktails are top notch, when you can get one. The ambience is fantastic. They do live music a lot and have an over the top birthday celebration thing which is awesome. I once rated this place 5 stars when I wasn't as familiar with it. Now that I am I feel bad with the 2 star rating, but I really hope the manager or owner sees this review to address their short comings. What a great recommendation from a friend who dined at their Garden City location. Stopped in for dinner for lunch and were immediately happy with the warm cuban bread and whipped butter. Started off with a perfect and delicious guava mojito, it was spot on. Had the table side prepped spicy guacamole and tortilla chips. Was so good we ate the whole thing. Then my Sous chef had the best crunchy toasted Cuban sandwich, with fresh pork lechón with ham, melted Swiss cheese, pickles, and the best fried yucca fries we have had in a long time. I had the yummy Churrasco skirt steak with pickled onions, very good morro black beans and rice with platanos maduros, winner. And we ended it with decadent fried and crunchy churros sprinkled with sugar and served with banana ice cream, all washed down with a cuban coffee. We wound up in there for brunch, the menu looked okay, the place looked very nice. They had bottomless Mimosas for like $15, which was a good deal. They took time before taking out orders, once they did they came over with the Mimosas, and they kept coming around with pitchers constantly filling you up which is the only reason it got 2 stars. After they took our orders it took like 45 minutes before we got our food, well only 3 of us got our food, I was the unlucky one who didn't get my food. 10 minutes later the waiter came over after we called him and he was like oh my God. I'm so sorry. Let me go get your food. He showed up 10 minutes later with the wrong food!!! When I told him what I had ordered he tried to convince me this is basically the same thing which it absolutely was not! Another 10 minutes later when everyone else was already finished eating. I finally got my food which they did not charge me for. The fact that the waiter kind of was trying to argue with me about the fact that the food that he brought was basically the same thing which it really was not really got me upset. A great authentic Cuban restaurant tucked away on the corner in Patchogue. The food is fantastic, the vibes of the establishment are fun and exciting. On Friday nights, not only do you dine with great food, but they also provide a great show which I thought for the value of my dinner plus a live performance; how can you go wrong. An excellent restaurant for large parties or small, and they offer outside seating depending on the weather. I highly recommend this establishment, especially if you're looking for a fun and vibrant place to enjoy a party-like environment. You must take into consideration the amount of overhead this business must encounter on a day to day basis considering they are a store front location in the middle of Patchogue. What that means to the consumer is you can have dinner and a few drinks and walk to other bars continuing your night. The fried sweet plantains are again delicious the cuban sandwiches in my opinion should have been pressed a bit more and the pork a little less greasy.
